Just in time for everybody's favorite holiday, it's a patriotic President's Day movie commentary special of the 1997 blockbuster, Air Force One! Revisit (perhaps) the greatest movie ever made, or at the very least, a movie that will make you feel better about the American Presidency than you've felt in years (we promise). Harrison Ford's Commander and Chief goes toe-to-toe with Gary Oldman's fanatical Russian terrorist leader, edge-of-your-seat landline negotiations with Glenn Close's VP in her sweat-stained blouse, a fax machine (remember those?!) that's super important to the plot of the movie, double crosses, sacrifices, character development (remember when that was a thing in action movies?!), indirect executive orders, extras giving top-notch background performances, hostages gleefully parachuting into the safety of the Atlantic ocean, crossing wires in the luggage compartment to dump fuel, a presidential flying lesson during a Russian Mig attack that just may have served as the inspiration for Disney's Smuggler's Run, zip-lining between aircrafts travelling at 550 miles per hour, and Harrison delivering the greatest single line in cinematic history on one bad-ass airplane. All that, plus the passionate commentary of two movie-loving idiots. Happy listening! Happy President's Day! And remember -- If you give a mouse a cookie, he's gonna want a glass of milk.

Plenty to do on this solo adventure with the audience tonight: Hawaii updates and theories; Erection-inducing spider bites; an old Russian MiG crashes at an air show; the Taliban are destroying the crops we sacrificed all to defend; the airplane chick goes public; and plenty of calls. There will be more mixed in there, though I don't know how it is even possible. See you Tuesday night with Timothy Alberino. Meet Capt Royce Williams, USN (Ret) - Hear how he went out as part of a four-ship and soon found himself alone, in a fur-ball with 6 Russian MiG-15s. When the smoke cleared and the shooting was over, Capt Williams brought his crippled F9F Panther back aboard the USS Oriskany and was sworn to secrecy. The ONLY American to ever shoot down 4 enemy aircraft in the same fight wouldn't be able to tell anyone about it for more than 50 years! The fight was classified Top Secret to keep it quiet that Russians were fighting against America in the Korean War. When the Soviet Union broke up in 1992 documents revealed the truth behind the fight, including the names of the Russians he downed that fateful day in November of 1952. Royce Williams was awarded the Navy Cross on Jan 20, 2023 for his heroism that day. Please write your senator and ask them to pass the resolution calling for the Medal of Honor for this American Hero.
On this episode of Our American Stories, at the height of the Cold War a Russian MiG and an American weather plane meet over the North Pole. Richard Muniz tells the rest of the story. Support the show (https://www.ouramericanstories.com/donate)See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Matt Grills, Managing Editor of The American Legion Magazine, joined the America's Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the November issue. He spoke about articles that explore the global history of war crimes, the establishment of the Vietnam War Memorial and efforts to award the Medal of Honor to Navy Lt. Royce Williams, who downed four Russian MiG-15s during a dogfight in the Korean War. The Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Richard Fiesta appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and spoke about the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act that Republicans have vowed to repeal if they take control of Congress in the November midterm elections. He also explained why Medicare premiums will decrease and the 8.7 percent Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) to Social Security benefits – the largest increase since 1981.

Welcome to Episode 90 of the Adventures with Grammy Podcast. Today's guest is Paul Entrekin. For most of his adult life, Paul's feet have been off the ground and in the air flying from one destination to another -- sometimes upside down -- sometimes at warp speed. A retired US Marine, naval aviator and Delta Airline captain, Paul primarily is known today as an acrobatic pilot who owns and flies a Russian MIG 15 fighter jet in airshows across North America. The role he cherishes is grandpa. Today we will discuss his first children's book, Jasper and the Christmas Faeries, a book co-written with his wife, Lisa, but inspired by his youngest grandchild and only grandson. https://www.amazon.com/Jasper-Christmas-Faeries-Tales-Rufus/dp/163337632X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1J928RVKSXZVU&keywords=jasper+and+the+christmas+fairies+paul+and+lisa+entrekin&qid=1664547534&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjAwIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=paul+entrekin%2Caps%2C913&sr=8-1 Proceeds from the book benefit the respected charity, Pilots for Kids - Aviation Professionals dedicated to helping hospitalized children Paul Entrekin Entrekin Aviation (facebook.com) (51) Entrekin Aviation - Flying the MiG-15 - YouTube Women Can Fly is a volunteer organization whose mission is to promote women of all ages to fly. It's not always thought to be wise, most profitable, or popular. Doing the right thing has more to do with “COURAGE”; forged from the principles and beliefs given to you by your parents. There's an ole' saying I've adopted, “The Politician will tell you what you want to hear. The Leader will tell you what you need to know.” And, telling you what you need to know may not be popular”. So, my Accomplishments here do not show you things I've walked away from. As a result, I left A LOT of money on the table. However, God is good! In this episode, Rob and I are talking to Andy Ovans aircraft maintenance manager for Sun n Fun and Aerospace Center for Excellence accompanied by our friend Lizzy. We had the pleasure to sit down with Andy on top of the TBM Trailer that sat near the flight line and just down the way from the Mig-21 that Andy has put so much time into working with people to bring the aircraft back to what it looked like when it was in active service. We shared some good stories and laughs talked about the Mig and its history. Enjoy this episode as you can hear the suttle sound of aircraft flying in the back ground as we came to you from the field on a special assignment for Sun N Fun Radio in the beautiful Lakeland, FL. In the movie Top Gun, Maverick and Goose are flying in close formation with Iceman in a training manoeuvre as they try to shoot down a much nimbler fictitious Russian MiG fighter. Maverick having been accused of abandoning his wingmen in the past, is sticking tight to Iceman but clearly has “the shot”. Maverick pleads with Iceman to break off and let him take the shot.… Read More
On the 50th Anniversary of the Navy's legendary fighter pilot school known as Top Gun, the founder Captain Dan Pederson discusses how the pilot losses he witnessed in the Vietnam War led to the formation of Top Gun, how he and the other original "9 bros" got it up and running in just a matter of weeks with little or no funding, and what they looked for in new recruits. He recalls the days before Top Gun when aerial combat training was banned by the military and how he and his fellow pilots learned their skills at a secret fight club in the sky off the coast of San Diego. He talks about getting to train against real Russian MIG fighter jets at the most classified location in America, the mental and physical stamina required to perform the kind of aerial acrobatics taught at Top Gun, and the toll that it can take on a pilot’s personal life. Plus Dan shares what the famous movie Top Gun gets wrong, he reveals the absolute worst weather to fly in, and he offers a few choice words about the Pentagon’s current reliance on the costly F-35 fighter jet. Order Captain Dan Pederson's book TOP GUN: AN AMERICAN STORY on Amazon, Audible or wherever books are sold.
