'Do you know what backbiting is?' They replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best'. He said, It is saying something about your brother which he would dislike' Someone asked 'What if I say something about my brother which is true?' The Prophet (peace be on him) replied, If what you say of him is true, it is backbiting and if it is not true you have slandered him.'' When a person dislikes someone, he is likely to find faults in his appearance, behavior, lineage, and anything else which pertains to him. 'Aishah narrated that she said to the Prophet (pece be on him), "Do you see that Safiyyah (another wife of the Prophet) is such and such?" meaning that she was short. The Prophet (peace be on him) replied, "You have spoken a word such that, if it were mixed in the water of the ocean, it would darken it."? Backbiting is nothing but a desire to belittle people, to slander their honor, and to deride their accomplishments in their absence. Since this is stabbing in the back, it is an expression of narrow-mindedness and cowardice. Backbiting is a negative trait, and only those engage in it who themselves are not achievers. It is a tool of destruction, for one who is addicted to it leaves no one without throwing a dart at him and wounding him. It is no wonder then, that the Qur'an paints such a repulsive picture of this vile habit as would make people shrink from it in horror: And do not…..backbite one anther; would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would abhor that. (49:12) Since one feels sick at the very thought of eating human flesh, how much more revolting it is to think of eating the flesh of one's dead brother! Whenever an opportunity arose, the Prophet (peace be on him) stressed this Qur'anic imagery in order to imprint it on peoples' hearts and minds. Here's a glimpse of our profound conversation. As Ramadan approaches, we hope this discussion motivates us all to introspect, evolve, and embody the universal values of compassion and empathy that rise above faiths, offering invaluable lessons for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. GDP Script/ Top Stories for Feb 14th Publish Date: Feb 13th From the Drake Realty Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Wednesday, February 14th and Happy 51st Birthday to Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas. ***02.14.24 – BIRTHDAY – ROB THOMAS*** I'm Bruce Jenkins and here are your top stories presented by Tom Wages Funeral Homes. Double Murder Case Resolved: Kennesaw Man Found Guilty in Lawrenceville Suspected Shoplifter's Aim: Selling Stolen Tools for Basic Necessities Study Reveals: Bullied Teens at Higher Risk of Experiencing Psychotic Episodes Plus, my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on microwave meals. All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: TOM WAGES STORY 1: Kennesaw Man Convicted In Lawrenceville Double Murder Case Steven Tran, a 23-year-old man from Cobb County, has been handed dual life sentences plus five years without the possibility of parole. The sentencing comes after Tran was found guilty of a double murder and threatening another person during a drug transaction in 2020. The charges against him included malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Tran had planned to purchase marijuana from An Ha and Julian Talbo but instead robbed them and ended their lives at a residence in Lawrenceville. He also menaced a woman with a firearm. Following the collection of substantial evidence, Tran confessed, leading to his conviction. Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson expressed her contentment in bringing justice to the victims' families. STORY 2: Shoplifting Suspect Wanted To Sell Stolen Tools To Make Money For Food, Lodging Kevin Elam, a 36-year-old Indianapolis native, was caught attempting to steal DeWalt power tools from an Ace Hardware store near Loganville. His intention was to sell the stolen items to fund his food and shelter needs. Despite making a getaway in a Nissan Rouge, diligent store employees were able to provide the police with a detailed vehicle description and tag number. Surveillance camera analysts located the vehicle and relayed the information to the officers, resulting in Elam's arrest just 8.2 miles from the store. The stolen tools, valued at $1,271, were recovered. Elam admitted to the theft, attributing it to financial strain, and is currently being held in Gwinnett County Jail on a felony theft by shoplifting charge, with a bond set at $4,600. STORY 3: Bullied teens more at risk of suffering psychotic episodes Recent research has unveiled that teenagers who are victims of bullying are more prone to experiencing early psychotic episodes. This is attributed to reduced glutamate levels, a neurotransmitter that controls emotions in the brain's anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). The study, published in Molecular Psychiatry, suggests that focusing on glutamate could decrease the likelihood of psychotic disorders in bullied teens. Psychosis, defined by a disconnection from reality and hallucinations, is linked with altered glutamate levels. Researchers from the University of Tokyo used magnetic resonance spectroscopy to evaluate glutamate levels in adolescents, establishing a correlation between bullying experiences and subclinical psychotic symptoms. The lead author, Dr. Naohiro Okada, advocates for anti-bullying initiatives and mental health support as preventative strategies. Non-drug interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy could rectify neurotransmitter imbalances in bullied adolescents. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Break 2: HENRY COUNTY SHERRIF STORY 4: Ex-beauty queen inspiring other women experiencing hair loss Dr. Bhasha Mukherjee, a former Miss England winner, has come forward about her own struggles with female-pattern baldness during her reign. Mukherjee, who resorted to using eye shadow and hair extensions to cover up thinning hair, is now dedicated to breaking down stigmas associated with the topic. She stresses the unrealistic beauty expectations placed on women and advocates for open conversations about hair loss, challenging the prevalent notion that femininity is tied to voluminous hair. Mukherjee also shines a light on how modern lifestyle factors can affect hair health and welcomes the idea of a hair loss brand sponsoring the Miss England pageant, marking a progressive step towards addressing the issue. STORY 5: These kids are first in world to get special Marvel superhero bionic arms Kaden Taylor and Safiyyah Uddin, two British children born with partial limbs, have become the world's first recipients of Spider-Man-themed bionic prosthetics. The innovative prosthetics, a result of a collaboration between Marvel and Disney and manufactured by Open Bionics, are 3D-printed and equipped with myoelectric sensors that respond to muscle contractions. Safiyyah is delighted with her pink Hero Arm, which mirrors Spider-Woman, and is now able to perform tasks using both hands. Kaden, who was initially reluctant about prosthetics, has enthusiastically adopted his Spider-Man Hero Arm, significantly boosting his confidence and enabling him to participate in activities such as bike riding. Open Bionics has plans to develop more superhero-themed prosthetics and is currently searching for a candidate with a limb difference to represent "Miles Morales" in their upcoming project. We'll be back in a moment. Break 3: INGLES 9 STORY 6: LEAH MCGRATH And now here is my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on microwave meals. Roger Christensen of Unity Books Auckland reviews Safiyyah's War by Hiba Noor Khan published by Walker Books.
On this week's show I spoke to the lovely and hugely talented Hiba, who is also a dear friend of mine. On 6th July, Hiba's first children's novel, Safiyyah's War, hit bookshelves in the UK, and in this episode we talk about the beautiful book. Hiba's book is about a part of history that we know so little about - the resistance movement against the Holocaust that was run from the Grand Mosque of Paris. In the book, our protagonist, 11-year-old Safiyyah ends up in the middle of the movement, bravely sacrificing so much to help those in trouble. I asked Hiba about what led her to writing children's stories, and what we can do to gently introduce young minds to serious themes and issues such as war and persecution. We talked about cats, strawberry bonbons, friendship, family, courage, dreaming, Paris, hidden histories and so much more. Hiba Noor Khan is the author of 6 books for children, including Safiyyah's War, How to Spaghettify your Dog, The Little War Cat, Inspiring Inventors and One Home. The Little War Cat, published in 2020 was long-listed for the Jhalak Prize and the UKLA Book Award and her work has been translated into Swedish, Korean, Turkish, Breton, Chinese, and counting. She secretly wants to be an explorer, and is happiest surrounded by nature, especially near the ocean.I hope you love this episode as much as I do. "Your creation was the best I could be for you." - Qadriyyah S. Mabel-Dorothy Listen, much like The South, African American birth mothers got something to say! Outcasts in their own right, Black women who choose adoption for their babies often live with shame, even when they believe their choice was the best they could do at the time. Following her divorce, Qadriyyah knew that she didn't want to have more children. God, however, had different plans, revealed to her in recurring dreams of a beautiful, Black baby boy. She knew she would have another baby and also that she was "giving birth to somebody else's baby." Twice. Navigating through lack of adoption knowledge, denied requests for therapy support, a "janky" money-focused adoption agency, family and friends who didn't understand her choices, all while raising children through anxiety and depression, Qadriyyah's journey shows parenting and adoption take more than love. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/saptono-soemarsono/message

Safiyyah Khan, VP of Growth Marketing at BlueWave Solar, is part of a growing wave of women assuming leadership roles in marketing. But, as she well knows, there's still a ways to go. While the majority of marketers are women, men still comprise the majority of CMOs, not to mention an even larger majority of men in the C-suite positions that CMOs report to. And when it comes to ethnic minorities, the disparities are even greater. Khan discusses how creating more opportunities for women and ethnic minorities in marketing leadership is not only the right things to do ... it's good for business.

Today on the show I have Safiyyah Talley aka the Drunk Knitter. There is a beautiful recurring theme that runs throughout her story and it’s a theme of creativity – coming out of the womb designing, needle to create – it never feels like work. It’s so beautiful and inspiring to see how she’s prioritized this within her own life despite the mom juggle she’s living in full force! Show notes here.
