Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
**Today's Halacha is dedicated f or the refuah and haslacha of Ronnie, Sharon, Eli and all the children of CARE** The Gemara in Masechet Yoma emphasizes the importance of taking three steps back after completing the Amida, commenting that if one did not do this properly, then it would have been preferable for him not to have prayed at all. In a sense, failing to take three steps back after the Amida almost invalidates the prayer. After stepping back, one recites, "Oseh Shalom Bi'mromav…" The simple understanding of the requirement to take three steps back is that it displays respect and reverence to G-d. After standing in the Almighty's presence, we cannot just leave; this would be disrespectful. We instead reverently step backwards, facing Hashem. We step back first with our left foot, showing that we are reluctant to leave, and we do so starting with our weaker foot. The Ben Ish Hai (Rav Yosef Haim of Baghdad, 1833-1909) offers a different explanation, based on Kabbalistic teaching. When we stand before G-d and recite the Amida, he writes, we are in the realm of "Asilut." And once we finish, we must pass through the realms of "Beri'a" and "Yesira" to return to our world, the realm of "Asiya." We thus take three steps, corresponding to the three stages of our return to this realm. After one take the three steps back and recites "Oseh Shalom," he remains in place with his feet together until the time for the recitation of "Nakdishach." At that point, one takes three steps forward – starting with his right foot – and keeps his feet together for "Nakdishach." The Kaf Ha'haim (Rav Yaakob Haim Sofer, Baghdad-Jerusalem, 1870-1939) writes that if "Nakdishach" begins immediately after one takes his three steps back, then he should right away take his three steps forward for "Nakdishach," without waiting. If, before "Nakdishach," he needs to step outside, such as to use the restroom, then he does not first take three steps forward. He leaves, and returns to the spot where he was standing, and then takes three steps forward. If one prays privately, and thus "Nakdishach" is not being recited, then after he takes three steps back and recites "Oseh Shalom," he remains in place for the amount of time needed to walk four Amot – approximately 3-4 seconds – and then takes three steps forward, starting with his right foot. The Gemara strongly condemns one who takes three steps forward immediately, without pausing several seconds, as this shows that his three steps back were not taken out of respect and reverence. Ideally, before one begins the Amida, he should ensure that he has enough room to take three full steps – toe to heel – backwards after the Amida. However, the Ben Ish Hai writes, if one does not have enough room to take three full steps back, then he takes three smaller steps. Summary: After one completes the Amida, he takes three steps back, starting with his left foot, recites "Oseh Shalom," and remains in place with his feet together until "Nakdishach," at which point he takes three steps forward, starting with his right foot, for "Nakdishach." If he prays privately, he should wait 3-4 second and then take three steps forward. Ideally, before one begins the Amida, he should ensure that he has enough room to take three full steps – toe to heel – backwards after the Amida. However, if one does not have enough room to take three full steps back, he takes three smaller steps.

“As a person living with disability, sport gives you the purpose and the inspiration to move on with life because when you see someone who is physically worse off than you doing better than you, you get inspired and want to do more."The Paralympic games start today in Paris, just over two weeks after the Olympic games ended in the French Capital. Over 4,400 athletes with various forms of disabilities will be competing in 22 sports for 549 gold medals. Africa has just over 300 para athletes representing 44 countries from the continent. Kenya's Asiya Mohammed Sururu will be competing in para rowing, a sport not accessed by many in Africa despite the abundant natural water bodies on the continent. The 32-year-old lost both her legs after she was run over by a train at the age of two. In this episode of Africa Daily, Alan Kasujja talks to Asiya about the challenges African para athletes face beyond their physical disabilities.
In the realm of good, all have a role to play, and everyone has the potential to make a most meaningful impact. It does not matter if you are a victim of dystopian oppression or a marginal cog in the machine of corporate greed. The potential for explosive good within you is only waiting to be unlocked. In the Qur'an, we see how goodness burst forth from the household of Pharaoh himself.

Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics:What does this week's Torah portion and time period teach us today? How do you maintain a positive and joyous outlook with all the troubles brewing around us? How do we reconcile the difficulties we are facing today with this double month of joy and the redemption of Purim leading into the redemption of Pesach? What is the main theme of Parshas HaChodesh, and what lessons can we derive from this unique chapter? What is the significance of the four special parshios we read between these weeks – from Adar through Nissan? Do they correlate to the four worlds of Atzilus Beriah Yetzira and Asiya? What is the main theme of Parshas Shemini and what are its lessons for us? What do we learn from the story of Nadav and Avihu? What takes precedence: Winning the war or freeing the hostages? How do you respond to those that try to create a moral equivalence between both sides? Should we excommunicate a Jew who attacks Israel? Should we sing Napoleons March every day as a reminder that we will be victorious in the war? What can we do differently after Chof Zayin Adar and Gimmel Tammuz to help bring Moshiach? What did the Rebbe say that we should be doing when a Rebbe has a stroke? Is Moshiach here or not here? How are we sure that after Moshiach comes our negative behavior will not reverse the process? Should Moshiach's imminent coming make us work faster and harder, with a greater sense of urgency, to finish our job? Why is this time right before the Geulah compared to Erev Shabbos? The Gaza War Moshiach What can we learn from the bridge collapse in Baltimore? Is it wrong for a Rabbi to use an artificial intelligence program to write his weekly Dvar Torah?

We never realize the work that someone puts in for our future how much they love Allah counts on it. We will always need to reflect back on the stories so that we can honor our mothers in Islam paved the way for us to be free until love Allah, the sincerity. Asiya sacrificed so much, and became very aware it was never human. It was always God.
As an industry, coaching is in its babyhood; while there are organizations that provide training and credentials, there is not yet a consensus on a standard of ethics. Thus, it is incumbent upon active coaches who are pioneering the industry to be mindful of whether their interactions with potential clients are conducted in an ethical manner. These encounters will impact whether someone views future prospects to be coached in a positive or negative light. This is why permission and agreements are the two biggest elements of getting into a conversation that could lead to a coaching relationship. Focusing on these aspects creates an opportunity to provide genuine value because coaches can listen for components of challenges or goals. Asking the potential client if they would like help in those areas demonstrates a desire to provide service and allows space for the client to move forward with intention. There is no difference between creating content for paying clients and publishing content for public consumption; marketing is an essential component for both avenues. If a coach wants to build their own business rather than coaching within an existing community or company, then they must be intentional with their marketing strategy in order to create a community built on connection and authenticity which are necessary to developing trust with clients. Many coaches believe that they must possess an aptitude for content creation and proficiency for sales before they can successfully market their business; however, the confidence they are seeking comes from taking action; it's experiential, not conceptual. Acts of holiness naturally rise beyond this world. When someone studies Torah without the intention to connect to Hashem, then the study does not rise to become incorporated with the ten sefirot. But it does rise! Torah is essentially holy and so its natural place is in a place of holiness, in the spiritual worlds above ours. In fact, angels are created from these acts of holiness either in our world of Asiya, or in the world of Yetzirah. All this is true so long as there were no contrary intentions. However, if the study was motivated by selfish interest, it remains trapped below in this world.

You can help establish safe birthing centers for Ukrainian women.Sunflower Birthing Cirlces: We are grassroots women from around the world, shocked and shaken by the genocide and ecocide, in Ukraine. We saw the image of the pregnant woman on a stretcher coming out of the bombed maternity hospital, in Mariupol where 20,000 civilians at least have died, and hundreds of children have died. We saw Marcus Yam's images of the women in the basements of Kharkiv, going without adequate food, water and medical care for weeks. We watched the images feeling powerless. But then... a seed, a spark, a dream... seemed to touch us all simultaneously.FEEL, THINK, DOLike a river of birds in migration, we were moved to come together in circle one night on Zoom in early March, and share with tears of grief and rage that, which was breaking our hearts. As our hearts opened with compassion, we invited each one to think together creatively about possible ways to collectively act on behalf of our sisters there, especially the late term pregnant ones in dire living situations. Then we all began a miraculous whirl of community development and organizing, meeting and developing relationships with birthworkers across Poland who were touched by Varvara's writing, Asiya's thoughtful planning, and Nadiia's sensitivity in working with women coming from her hometown of war-struck Kharkiv and her desire to bring others out of danger.Find out more and how YOU can help!https://www.sunflowerbirthingcircles.org/solidarityhttps://www.thecore.spacehttp://daleallenproductions.com/index.htmlhttp://www.greententcircle.com

"In these bodies, we will live. In these bodies, we will die. And where you invest your love, you invest your life." - Mumford & Sons. This is one of the most potent lyrics the band has ever written, inspiring this podcast episode. I believe this quote is about self-love and finding out about yourself and who you are. When we learn to love ourselves, we also express love to others more powerfully and intentionally. You can alter the way you see things, and it is your self-love that helps you become the best version of yourself. In this episode, I take this lyric and define what self-love is and why it is essential. I explore the differences between healthy and unhealthy self-love and provide several examples of self-love that you can recognize in your own life. I use the stories of Asiya and Melissa to illustrate how they overcame their situations to find self-love and the change that it brought about. I then go into three ways to learn self-love and why it can be challenging. Lastly, I unpack five habits you can implement to encourage self-love and my final thoughts. Thank you for listening to this Passion Struck Podcast episode on how to self-love yourself. This week I was joined by my very dear friend Asiya. She is from Karachi, Pakistan and was an international student at Mount Holyoke College, where she double majored in International Relations and Psychology. Currently, she is working as a Research Officer at the Collective for Social Science Research and works on multi-disciplinary projects with a focus on development, civic spaces, gender, democracy, mental health, youth well-being and qualitative research. In this episode, we discussed the reasons behind our decisions to come back home after graduation, the interesting questions we received once we moved back and finding the courage to take risks in the pursuit of our happiness.
