What does it take to turn pain into purpose, and how can moments of unexpected connection completely transform your life?Join me and my special guest co-host, Scott Chesney, a renowned life coach and motivational speaker known as the “Commander in Change,” as we sit down with the incredibly talented actor and voice healer, Ciarán Sheehan. With over 1,000 performances as the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, Ciarán shares his remarkable journey, which began with a chance meeting at a train station that changed the trajectory of his life.Born in Dublin, Ciarán spent his childhood moving between Ireland and the United States, navigating challenges that included betrayal by a trusted adult and enduring abuse. He recounts how he actually repressed the painful memory of the sexual abuse as a child, describing it as the worst kind of betrayal. It wasn't until Hal Prince, the legendary director, told him he wasn't ready for a specific role because there was something deeper within himself he needed to uncover.  Those words brought Ciarán to his knees and forced him to look inward. He sought support and began the challenging process of remembering and working through the difficult memories he had buried for so long. This pivotal moment not only changed his personal life, but also opened the gateway for him to truly connect with his craft on a much deeper level.. In this heartfelt conversation, he bravely recounts his experiences of resilience and healing.  Scott Chesney also shares a deeply personal moment—watching The Four Phantoms on PBS before bed and being moved to tears by Ciarán's voice. Knowing Ciarán personally, Scott speaks about how not only his extraordinary talent but also his genuine heart continues to leave a lasting impact on him.Sometimes, one story can inspire someone to take steps to reach their goals, have faith in their own potential, and move forward through any uncertainty.Part one of this episode is available now on the Today's the Day Changemakers YouTube channel and all streaming platforms. We cover a variety of topics in this episode, among them: Leanne's research on the media portrayal of SCI; how Jason's climbing accident focused his interest in neuroscience to spinal cord injury research translation; and Scott's wisdom from 38 years of lived experience with an SCI. In the way of topic warning, we do briefly discuss suicidal ideation in our third conversation with Scott, if that is something you would prefer to avoid. I hope you enjoy hearing these conversations as much as I enjoyed being a part of them. More info: https://u2fp.org/get-educated/curecast/episode-99.html

He is a world-renowned motivational speaker and Life Coach. Together, we interview Nancy Romanyshyn. Nancy is the Director of Pay Strategy & Partner Success at Syndio. Nancy and Scott have been friends for quite some time and that is definitely apparent as we get into the interview. We talk about the importance of finding your sphere of influence that not only becomes your cheerleader, but also will call you out when needed. The art of listening comes up as so many times we are trapped within our own thoughts and what we want to say. We learn best when we are practicing active listening. Nancy talks about being in self-evaluation mode as she was not feeling 100% fulfilled in her long-standing career and felt the need for a change. That change came by her taking a leap of faith to an organization that crafted a position just for her. Listen in to hear how this all came about. Working at Syndio is not just a career change for Nancy. The work she is doing, the people she is working with, and the way she shines when she talks about it showcases that is is a calling for her. We talk about her role at Syndio and how she is helping companies embed workplace equity into their core business so they can achieve enduring success. Terms like pay equity and opportunity equity are just a few that are discussed. We come to a point in the interview where you can truly see how fun the friendship is between Nancy and Scott. They have a little feud about.... Oreos. Are they black or brown? Inquiring minds want to know. Nancy and Scott are counting on our audience to help with this answer. Please share your thoughts either as a comment on the Today is the Day Changemakers YouTube Channel or email jodi@todayisthedayliveit.com. Let's have some fun with this! Welcome to season 2, episode 33 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast. This week my guest is Holly Fulger. Holly is an actress, writer, producer and founder, True Beauty Discovery. She began her acting career at the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, where she interned with Tom Hanks, with whom she has remained close friends. She moved to Los Angeles after living in Chicago for some time to work on television and film, Holly is best known for her roles in the Disney Channel Original Movie series, Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century, as Aunt Judy, and as Holly in the sitcom, Ellen. Being in the spotlight, Holly has experienced the good, the bad, and the misguided aspects of beauty in our culture. Unfortunately, as a young girl she dealt with bullying and shares more about her experience in this episode. Through wearing thick rimmed glasses, she watched as the world did not seem so kind during some of her teen years. Holly shares here that acting allowed her to express and access parts of herself that she couldn't do in the real world. Listen in to hear what she would tell that little girl now. She has written numerous articles on beauty and an article she wrote for iCNN caught the attention of a CNN producer who interviewed Holly and seven other women on their perception of beauty.  She says that the most interesting part of this was listening to other women's stories and hearing how difficult it was for women to really say what is beautiful about themselves. So began her exploration into true beauty, creating the web series, Speaking of Beauty, and then The Hollywood Beauty Detective. In 2019, she founded the nonprofit, True Beauty Discovery. The mission is about empowering girls and women to understand that it is their individuality that makes them beautiful and powerful. Listen in to hear the incredible footprint that Holly would like to leave behind. On the next episode I am joined by one of my recurring co-hosts, Scott Chesney. Welcome to episode 29 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast. This week my guest is Geeta Trika, Founder & CEO, Anjali & Assoc., LLC, a professional leadership development company. So happy to have back with me, special guest co-host, Scott Chesney. Scott is a world-renowned motivational speaker and Coach. Geeta is a Certified consultant of Bob Proctor and Proctor Gallagher Institute. She serves on the Advisory Board Council Member for Stillman School of Business Leadership Program, Seton Hall University and is a Consultant and Mentor to the Women's Leadership Program at Stillman School of Business,  Seton Hall University. Geeta came to the United States from India at around 8 or 9 years old. She shares what her first days were like being here, seeing snow, and an encounter with Girl Scouts and some seeds that actually continue to play a role in her thinking. We all know that where we start our professional careers is only part of our journey. Geeta started her career in banking, but she soon felt she needed to stepped outside of an office setting and have more freedom. She moved over to pharmaceutical sales where she was very successful. You will hear Geeta share about a personal medical issue that changed her direction to becoming a health and wellness Coach. Entrepreneurship has many facets to it and because we cannot actually know all there is to know, Geeta shares how because she wasn't aware of the business side of things it became financially challenges. Geeta shares how she changed direction and is now thriving through the programs she provides. From her perspective, the art of creating a Life of TRUE Abundance begins with cultivating a strong sense of self-worth so that people can be who they really want to be, do the things they really want to do and have the experiences in life they truly want to have. Through her twelve years of coaching people she had noticed and epidemic of working professionals who in pursuit of success are working harder and longer, sacrificing self-care, neglecting their own health and well -being to make more money to have the better lifestyle for themselves and for their families. They may have a home, the education, the family, and the vacations; yet they are conflicted, stressed, burned out, feeling unfulfilled, bored, stuck, and may or may not the money they desire. To Geeta, true abundance is much more than promotions, raises, being married, providing for family, and making money. Geeta has created a body of work called “The Anjali Principals” where she integrates her corporate experience with holistic training to help individuals discover and define a personalized blue print to design the life, the money, the relationships, the health, and the career they desire through the lens of abundance. For more information about Geeta and the programs her organization offers please go to, https://anjaliassoc.com/.My next guest is Meg Knight. Meg Knight is a freelance graphic designer for over 20 years. She shares her incredible personal journey. Sometimes when we share our very personal and difficult stories we can help change someone else's life and make them feel not so alone. We are so happy to announce that after a very long journey, as of June 29, Meg has completed all of her cancer treatment. So many lessons learned in this interview. Scott and I interview M. Quentin Williams. Quentin is known by his friends as Q. In his childhood, Q lived on welfare for many years with his mom. Q believed that if he could just get a job in corporate America  than he would be ok. Carrying a a briefcase, wearing a raincoat, and having an office was the bar he set.  In school Q struggled with reading. He could speak and read phonetically well, but he basically faked it to get through. Through consistent study, he graduated at the top 5 of his class, but the struggle for him continued. He finally learned how to read efficiently in college. Q shares that the shame he was carrying about not being able to read well and being on welfare was painful and that it impacted every relationship he had in life. Listen to how he set that shame free. Q started his career as a bouncer and paralegal. Through determination and with assistance from a mentor that helped to steer his career path, Q become an attorney, an advocate, author-educator, sought after speaker and thought leader who draws on his personal history as a former FBI agent, federal prosecutor, and has held senior positions with the NFL, Jacksonville  Jaguars, and the NBA. Q says, ''it must be noted that you never truly make it. There is always going to be  challenges and struggles." He goes on to say the acceptance of the journey is the best part of life. When Q worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars he was told that in sports you are nobody until someone fires you. Yet, at that point Q had thought he was on the journey to become a sport teams GM and eventually own a team. When he moved on to the NBA he was let go. He thought he was just about to make it! At that point he decided it was time to be the entrepreneur he knew he could be. He felt like something was missing after he launched a few companies and that is when Dedication to Community was born in 2012.  D2C delivers skills-building workshops and ongoing forums to improve understanding and build relationships in communities through healing, reconciliation and unity. Its experts work with government agencies and the private sector by training and advising on critical issues in public safety and law enforcement, as well as diversity, belonging and equity. He is the proud father of a son and daughter, and credits his first-born as the inspiration for writing the survival guide, How NOT to get KILLED by the POLICE. This is a very important part of the interview!Listen at 45 minutes about a story that Q shares. By hearing Q share his story it gave someone in the audience permission to share hers. Welcome to the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast, episode 17,  'Be Genuine & Bring Your "A" Game' with Michele Siekerka.Michele Siekerka is the President and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.  I have had the honor of working with and for Michele, and now serve as a consultant and lead for the NJBIA's Not-for-Profit Council. The NJBIA is the largest employer association in the U.S. and represents over 1 million employees.  Members range from entrepreneurs,  Main Street businesses, to organizations with over 2,000 employees. Over the last 110 years, the organization has always been about providing support to businesses across all 21 counties in NJ.  At the heart of the organization is the amazing advocacy arm. Organizations of all sizes have the opportunity to tap in and share their voice.  Members receive a multitude of cost saving benefits that include health benefit options for any size business, 401k plans, virtual HR support, short-term disability insurance, office supplies, UPS savings, and more. Michele shares information about three distinct councils that provide ongoing connection for members: Women Business Leaders, Not-for-Profit, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. These councils meet monthly  via a virtual platform for now.  The NJBIA prides itself on being able to bring leaders  to the table from across the state. They  share their expertise, business challenges, and help to together build upon ideas and solutions.Michele was asked the question of why should small to mid-size businesses consider adding the NJBIA as a line item in their budget during this difficult time? There were many reasons, but the simple answer, "you can't go it alone." One of Michele's proudest moments during the height of the pandemic was when the NJBIA gave a voice to some businesses that were left out of some of the guidelines that were shared from the state level.  Hear the incredible advocacy efforts that Michele and the advocacy team put together for this distinctive group. Some wonderful advice that Michele shares, "be genuine and always, always, always bring your A game." She also shares the importance of exuding from your heart why something is so important to you, as it becomes infectious as well as contagious. There is a great story in here about being nice. Listen in!Here is something that many leaders can adopt that Michele shares which is "empower everyone to be a decision maker from their chair in the organization". Think about the meaning of that and how you can truly get the best out of your employees when they feel like you are standing with and behind them. In regards to work/life balance, Michele feels that there is no specific magic bullet of how to make it happen. It truly is a commitment that only we can make to ourselves. Take a listen to Michele's answer to the question, if I knew then what I know now? There are a lot of nuggets shared after this question was answered. You don't want to miss the ending. Next week join us for the Inspire Series! Two episodes launch in one week. On Monday, April 19, Scott Chesney is my guest. Scott is a the 'Commander in Change' and serves as a Life Coach and speaker. Then, on Wednesday, April 21, Scott is my guest co-host and together we interview, Michael Reuter.
