Season 2, Ep 2: Reloading lost episodes from the early Final Word. In 2015, the deadest WACA track in history made Mitchell Johnson retire on the spot. Dave Warner belted a million while wearing a WWII moustache, then Ross Taylor went back before WWI to take down the ancient record of Reginald Tip Foster. Kane Williamson was perfect, Brian Lara was in touch with Usman Khawaja, and if Mitchell Starc really bowled 161 kilometres an hour, does that mean Tim Southee clocked 146? Also... oh Christ... of course they announced bringing back Shaun Marsh. This season was originally recorded for the ABC. Would you “push the red button” for Class A cricket? Each to their own, which is essentially what Western Australia said following Matthew Renshaw's conspiracy selection last week. Kim Hughes felt particularly sick, poor bloke. Steve Smith's going to open – it's trappings where trappings are needed. But can this team go bulk? The Australian family populace can – they're turning out in such numbers at the Bucket on Bonce League, where the top 4 is locked and Warner rode a helicopter. We assess Shaun Marsh's career. TLDR; my kingdom to render others' pigeons. Finch and SOK get their flowers. There's a genre-leading catch in the Super Smash, NZ dusts Pakistan, India does so Afghanistan, Virat does Novak. India win the Border Gavaskar series for the 4th time in a row but not before Usman's emotional hundred, Cam Green's first hundred, Shubman's return hundred and Kohli's drought-breaking hundred. 22 wickets in 5 days. Good stuff, fellas! To that end, we review the series as a whole and what we learnt, if anything. I think it's that Axar Patel is Bradman. New Zealand have done it again in absolute thriller in Christchurch against Sri Lanka. All the best, lads. The WPL makes us feel safe and scared and we also learn about peripheral characters we've not heard of before. Temba Bavuma scores his first hundred in 7 years and Maharaj ruptures his achilles while celebrating a wicket against a West Indian team that hasn't won an away series in nearly 30 years. Shaun Marsh retires from first class cricket this week, so we ponder if what we got was enough. #AskTGC is from a mix of characters called Anon, Fairbody and The Snake which sees weed brownies, MDMA and bowel movements all combining for a troubling tale of mixing drugs with run outs. G'day legends. Welcome back or welcome to the Cricket Mentoring Podcast. It's been a while since we published an episode so it's great to be back. Thank you for listening! The idea of this podcast is to share the unique stories of cricketers, coaches and performance experts, with the aim of giving you; serious & committed cricketers, coaches or parents, some techniques, strategies and inspiration so you can become a better and more confident cricketer and live a better life. This episode is with one of Australia's best batters over the past 20 years. Shaun Marsh, or SOS as he's known in the cricketing world made his first-class debut way back in the 2000/2001 season and as he approaches his 38th birthday, was named the domestic cricketer of the year for the second year in a row which shows he's still got plenty of high-quality cricket ahead of him. Only a couple of days ago, SOS passed Justin Langer as the highest ever run scorer in List A cricket as he scored his 19th List A century in WA's victory over South Australia at the WACA. SOS has represented Australia 126 times across all formats and has scored over 5,000 international runs with 13 centuries. At his best, there aren't many better players in the world! SOS has been a great mate of mine for a long time so it was nice to finally sit down and hear more about his story and how he goes about his batting. In this episode SOS shared: His reflections of the most recent Big Bash Hie earliest memories of playing cricket How he trained and what his teenage years looked like What he remembers of his Test debut where he scored a century on debut Scoring 140 against the incredible South African bowling attack of Steyn, Morkel & Philander His memories of the first ever IPL where he won player of the tournament And how he transformed his life on and off field This episode, recorded in February 2021, is the first part of a longer conversation that is available for the members of the Cricket Mentoring Community. If you're keen to hear the whole conversation with SOS where we dive into his mindset, routines, preparation, how he transitions between formats and a whole lot more, then you can join the Cricket Mentoring Community today. To join head to www.cricketmentoring.com/community and utilise our 7-day free trial and start learning from some of the games best minds including back-to-back big bash winning coach, Greg Shipperd, current Victorian head coach, Chris Rogers, Sydney Sixers Jordan Silk and many others. In the C M C you also get access to me as this is where i'm spending my time helping serious and committed cricketers from around the world learn and develop themselves, their skills and their mindsets. No matter where in the world you live or where you're at in your game right now, if you want to score more runs or take more wickets and feel more confident on the cricket field then the Cricket Mentoring Community will help you. I hope to see you as a member soon! To follow Shaun, you can find him on Instagram at @shaunmarsh9 Don't be afraid to send him a DM letting him know you listened to the podcast and enjoyed it.

He went on to represent Australia in 17 Test Matches claiming 63 wickets with career best figures of 5-53. Nathan also played 58 ODI's also picking up 63 wickets with best figures of 4-29. Hauritz was also more than handy with the bat scoring three half centuries for Australia and had a highest First Class score of 146 for NSW against South Australia in 2010. In this edition of the Cricket Library Podcast, we relive some highlights from Nathan's career as well as exploring some of the challenges he faced in addition to the difficulties associated with transitioning out of cricket. As always, we ask who Nathan would most like to have a net with and he provides us with three excellent candidates including the first time a WWE Superstar gains a nomination. There are fears surrounding the Black Caps' Boxing Day test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after a Sheffield Shield match at the venue was called off due to safety issues today. The first day's play of the four-day clash between Victoria and Western Australia was called off after several Western Australian batsmen were hit on a dangerous MCG pitch.Western Australian batsman Shaun Marsh was hit several times and later went for a concussion test, and was quoted by news.com as saying the pitch was "unplayable"."We saw guys getting hit on the head and it was disappointing. When Marcus [Stoinis] got hit on that last occasion it was pretty realistic that the pitch was unplayable."I probably got hit four or five times, and we saw after lunch when the wicket got a little bit harder and there was a lot of divots out there it became unplayable."The pitch will be inspected again tomorrow ahead of a potential re-start but Western Australia coach Adam Voges was unimpressed."It's about player safety," Voges said."We won't put our players on a wicket that we feel is not safe. We'll make that decision in the morning. But how can they prove to us it's all of a sudden safeThe drama occurred just 19 days out before one of the Black Caps' biggest test matches in years – and their first Boxing Day test in 32 years. However, Cricket Australia pledged to get that particular pitch – which will be a different one to the strip used today - right come Boxing Day."We will seek to better understand the issues that resulted in variable bounce at the MCG. We will also work closely with MCG groundstaff in the lead up to the Test match," said Cricket Australia head of operations Peter Roach."But we also acknowledge that there have been two previous Shield matches at the MCG this season without incident."Matt Page and the MCG groundstaff have more than two weeks to ensure the test surface, which is a different pitch strip to the one being used in this match, is of international standard."The Boxing Day test is the second of three tests the Black Caps will play in Australia, with the team having flown out today to Perth for the first test, a day-night pink-ball encounter, which starts on Thursday.

Three jam packed segments. Much like our show title, we've hit our Maximum this week. First treble 20 is Cricket. We recap the shortened first test between Australia and Sri Lanka. Give Cummins another Pat on the back. And lament two butchered centuries. Plus recap some of the BBL games from the past week. Including the brilliant innings from Callum Ferguson in response to Shaun Marsh's gem from last weeks show. In the second treble Liverpool are still riding high at the top of the EPL. Brighton are looking good to stay up, as long as they get their Australian keeper back sooner rather than later. And the boys watched a few A-League games over the weekend. Oh and Australia were bundled out of the Asian Cup in the Quarters. For the third treble we preview the Super Bowl. The New England Patriots have been the gold standard for 17 years now. There's some nice symmetry with the Pats taking on the Rams just like their first title in 2002. The only problem is, Tom Brady isn't quitting just yet. And during the NFL talk we have a call from a VERY special guest. 0:00:00 - Cricket 0:45:00 - Soccer 1:13:00 - Super Bowl LIII Preview Part of the No Phony Podcast Network nophonynetwork.com Twitter - @batsandballspod Brendan - @brendansmith05 Josh - @PiesJosh Zac - @BigZacko Mendy - @BigMendy180 No Phony Network - @phonyno Email - batsandballspodcast@gmail.com facebook.com/batsandballspodcast http://batsandballspodcast.com/

Former Australian cricketer Greg Ritchie says the Aussie cricket team need to move on from some of the older players need to re-focus or move on.  Ritchie analysed the team with Brad Hardie and Kim Hagdorn and thinks the pressure on Shaun Marsh for Test matches is too much. "He's playing One Day cricket like it should be played, he's a very, very good player Shaun Marsh. As to why he can't do it in Test cricket, well, I have my own ideas on that. I think there's too much pressure from a whole bunch of sources," Richie says on Sportsworld.
