Acts 2:15 says And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:     The Truth About Dreams and Reality   We all dream of doing better, reaching higher, and following what ignites our souls. But what happens when a dream turns out to be more fantasy than foundation? What if, over time, it proves unprofitable, unsustainable, or even harmful to our well-being?    This question is especially relevant for anyone striving to live out their “passions,” sometimes without embracing the responsibilities of adulthood. While chasing your dreams can be fulfilling, it's equally important to recognize when a dream needs adjusting—or when reality demands a shift in perspective.    Signs Your Dream Might Need a Shift  1. Financial Instability That Never Improves – If your passion constantly drains resources with no realistic plan for sustainability, it may be time for reassessment.  2. Mental or Physical Health Decline – A true passion should energize and uplift, not lead to burnout, chronic stress, or emotional exhaustion.  3. Ignoring Basic Responsibilities – If pursuing a dream means neglecting financial stability, relationships, or personal well-being, a more balanced approach might be needed.  4. Lack of Growth or Learning – Dreams should evolve. If you find yourself stuck, repeating the same mistakes with no progress, it's worth asking why.  5. No Market or Real Demand – Some passions bring personal joy but aren't viable as careers. Recognizing this can help you integrate them into your life in a sustainable way.    Finding Balance Between Passion and Reality  - Passion Thrives with Adaptability – Rather than clinging to a single vision, allow yourself to grow and adjust. Sometimes the dream is right—but the path needs tweaking.  - Test the Waters Before Diving In – Small, incremental steps toward your goal can prevent unnecessary financial or emotional strain.  - Success Isn't Always About Money or Fame – Some dreams are about fulfillment, but even those require sustainability.  - Embrace “Adulting” – Growth comes with responsibility. Managing finances, relationships, and obligations doesn't kill passion—it supports it.  - Learn from Those Who've Been There – Seek mentors and real-world examples from those who have pursued similar paths. Their insights could help you navigate blind spots.    Beware of Social Media Illusions    In today's world, it's easy to be influenced by people with large followings who seem to be living their dream. But numbers don't equal wisdom. Just because someone has an audience doesn't mean they have common sense—or that their advice is right for you.    You can't base life decisions on a video from someone you don't truly know. Social media thrives on engagement, not truth. Many influencers sell a lifestyle that may be unsustainable, unrealistic, or outright misleading. Your dreams deserve thoughtful planning—not impulsive influence.    Dreams don't need to disappear—but they do need to evolve. Recognizing when to pivot isn't failure—it's wisdom. The key is knowing when to push forward, when to adjust, and when to let go in order to build something better.

You've checked every box—career, family, responsibilities—and yet, food still has power over you. Why is it that even the most successful, driven women feel stuck in cycles of emotional eating, body frustration, and self-doubt? If success were the answer, wouldn't you feel free by now? Instead, you're spinning on the diet hamster wheel, trying everything “right” but still feeling wrong in your body. The mental noise around food, weight, and willpower never stops. You may even be wondering if something is broken inside you—but it's not. In this episode, Leslie explores the deeper roots of food struggles—and why permanent transformation starts with self-awareness, emotional mastery, and living in alignment with your truth. She offers a proven path to lasting food freedom that doesn't rely on restriction, but on safety, self-trust, and support. If you have always wanted peace that lasts beyond the scale, this conversation is your first step. "You're not addicted to food; you're addicted to escaping emotions. So we teach you how to feel free and how to actually feel your emotions. And the way you feel free is to actually learn how to feel your emotions and not just crying and blabbering and being like a victim to actually go all the way to the source of what is underneath that emotion. Once you see it, once you get the tools to transform it, quick five minutes or so, boom, back to wholeness. Not binge eating anymore. Move on with your day." - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 04:00 - Emotional avoidance as the real issue and not food addiction 10:19 - Leslie's unique approach that helps high-achieving, emotionally repressed individuals break free from food struggles 14:33 - What makes Leslie's program a high ticket one 18:11 - Leslie sharing her conviction: true health naturally follows when you live an authentic, joy-filled, aligned life—free from restrictive rules and driven by what genuinely feels good to you 23:17 - One more important key to permanent weight loss: self-mastery 24:54 - What investing deeply in yourself amount to 28:48 - Addicted to food versus escaping emotions 29:25 - Three crucial things for sustainable and permanent weight loss 33:12 - Consequences when you're out of alignment with yourself 37:30 -  A supportive space to uncover the root of your food struggles and begin a personalized path to lasting freedom 40:41 - An invitation to book a free, supportive call to uncover the root of your struggles Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? You've admitted the career no longer fits. Now what?In Part Two, Helen Hanison, former global PR executive turned executive career coach, walks us through what real change takes—beyond pep talks and pivot memes. She unpacks her three-act framework (Alignment, Redesign, and Transformation), explains why people cling to jobs they secretly loathe, and warns against the “anchor bias” that keeps us chasing the same dream long after it's stopped making sense. From spotting your outdated success scripts to mapping out future obstacles, Helen makes the case that career reinvention isn't linear—it's a zigzag of bold choices, mindset shifts, and quiet resilience. If you're ready to do the inner work instead of just tweaking your LinkedIn title, this episode is your field guide.Key Highlights of Our Interview:Alignment Before Action“If you skip alignment, you're just kicking the wrong can down the road.”Why getting unstuck starts with strengths, values, and purpose—not a job board scroll.Beware the Anchoring Trap“The first idea you fall in love with? Helen Hanison was a high-flying PR executive with a passport full of stamps, million-dollar campaigns, and a board-level title. Motherhood collided with her career, success lost its sparkle, and the feeling of being “stuck-but-still-good-at-it” became suffocating. In Part One of this two-part conversation, Helen shares the moment she realized her success was seducing her into staying in the wrong life. She opens up about the subtle signs of misalignment, the “lost years” between knowing something's wrong and doing something about it, and how her pivot into psychology laid the groundwork for a new career—one that finally fits. If you've ever felt competent but not alive in your work, this one's your mirror.Key Highlights of Our Interview:When High Achievement Turns into Quiet Misery“I was flying everywhere, leading campaigns—and I still felt hollow.”Helen unpacks the disconnect between outer success and inner dissatisfaction, especially when you're too good at a job that no longer excites you.The Motherhood Collision“I hadn't seen it coming, but it hit hard.”Becoming a mother didn't just change her home life—it cracked open the illusion that her career and identity were truly aligned.Good At It, But Dead Inside“I wasn't unhappy… just not lit up.”Helen describes the in-between phase where nothing is obviously wrong, but everything feels subtly off—a quiet crisis that many professionals ignore for too long. The Clues Were Always There“I was coaching before I knew what coaching was.”Helen reflects on how her leadership style—taking colleagues out for coffee, asking them what they wanted—was already pointing toward her next calling.Seduced by Success, Trapped by Titles“It's a long way down when the ladder's leaned against the wrong wall.”She reveals why people get stuck in senior roles they don't love, and how fear of the unknown keeps them climbing in the wrong direction.________________________Connect with us:Host: Vince Chan | Guest: Helen HanisonHelen's website: https://www.helenhanison.com  --Chief Change Officer--Change Ambitiously. As a Nervous System Specialist and creator of Body-Based Business®—a coaching model that blends somatic tools, nervous system wisdom, and business strategy to help entrepreneurs build sustainable success, She knows that success isn't just about strategy—it's about your capacity to hold it. I welcome Sheridan back on the show to celebrate and discuss her new book, Somatic Intelligence for Success: Nervous System Alignment to Prevent Burnout and Leave an Impact. On this week's guest episode I have Sheridan take the stage to share about her labor of love, a fabulous new book she has published. It's a remarkable resource with a wealth of knowledge to offer. Together Sheridan and I discuss what the breaking point can be with burn out and what it can teach you about success & how somatic intelligence guides us toward aligned decisions in business & leadership. Sheridan also breaks down the difference between burnout and misalignment from a nervous system perspective, how can women leaders can navigate ambition without falling into masculine overdrive or burnout, what feminine leadership actually looks like when it's rooted in the body, & she offers advice do you have for a woman are ready to pivot but are terrified of making the wrong move.BIO:From being stripped of every strand of hair on her body to losing my ex to suicide 3 weeks after breaking up, Sheridan was forced to use trauma-healing to sustainably build her business. While there are a lot of 'trauma-informed' and 'body-based practitioner' coaches in the industry, none of them do it by merging body-based tools, the nervous system AND business strategy.Sheridan helps anxious, perfectionist, people-pleasing and burned out entrepreneurs combine the nervous system with business strategy to increase profit and decrease anxiety - even when traditional methods haven't worked.IG: https://www.instagram.com/_sheridanruth_/w:  sheridanruth.com Book: https://www.amazon.com/Somatic-Intelligence-Success-Nervous-Alignment/dp/1962280829* Women Waken Wednesdays will be held weekly on Wednesdays at 6pm PST starting in February! Today, I interview Dr. Julie Lopez, who spent much of her life perfecting a performative voice to fit in and avoid rejection. Adopted as an infant and raised without biological connections, she unconsciously shaped her identity around external approval. She excelled in academics, leadership, and later, a high-powered consulting career, yet deep inside, she felt disconnected from her true self.Despite outward success, whispers of dissatisfaction grew louder. A pivotal trip to Spain, combined with years of introspection, made her realize she had been living by survival-driven patterns rather than authentic choices. She left her prestigious career behind and pursued psychology, focusing on implicit memory—the hidden codes that shape behavior, fears, and confidence. Now, Julie helps high achievers uncover and rewire these unconscious patterns through her work and book, Live Empowered. Her journey is a powerful reminder that true confidence isn't just about speaking well—it's about speaking from a place of deep authenticity.__________________Dr Julie Lopez delights in guiding high achievers, executives and CEOs through the “unconscious advantage” so they can move aside hidden roadblocks to health, wealth and personal alignment. Success Isn't What You Think: Why Artists Need a New Definition

Extraordinary Creatives

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 13, 2025 7:16

In this solo episode, Ceri talks about a truth many artists and creatives struggle with: Success won’t change your life. We’re told that success is the finish line, but this is far from the truth, success is fleeting and life carries on afterwards. Ceri talks about what success really means for creatives and artists and how changing your mindset around it can help you build and live a more fulfilling life and creative career. KEY TAKEAWAYS Success isn’t about reaching a final goalpost but about continuous growth. When you start measuring your progress by how much you’re evolving, rather than just ticking off achievements, everything changes. Most artists and creatives underestimate the power of slow-building momentum. You’re not just working toward some distant finish line; you’re constantly growing in ways you might not even notice. If you want to build a creative life that lasts, stop waiting for success to validate you. Instead: - Redefine success – What does progress look like for you? - Follow your curiosity – Chase ideas, not approval. - Celebrate small wins – Acknowledge every step forward. - Track your progress – Keep a journal, document your journey, and reflect on how far you’ve come. - Give yourself permission to change – Your creative path isn’t fixed. It’s fluid, and that’s a good thing. BEST MOMENTS “That external validation wasn’t the most important part, the real reward was in the process” "But the real joy? It comes from holding these goals like a roadmap, not a rigid itinerary. The destination helps plot the most scenic route, where you’ll meet incredible, funny, and inspiring people along the way.” “Have you had a conversation recently that sparked a new idea? Have you experimented with a technique or approach that felt exciting? Have you shared your work with someone and received valuable feedback? These are growth moments. And they matter just as much as a big career milestone.” EPISODE RESOURCES PODCAST HOST BIO With over 30 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. Get Organized for Good with Corinne Morahan: Maximize Your Productivity, Cultivate Purposeful Habits and Have More Fun!

“High achievers don't wait for success. They create it.”   Is success something that happens to you, or something you make happen? Corinne Morahan kicks off a four-part series designed to help you step into your highest potential without waiting for the perfect moment, permission, or a step-by-step guide from someone else.   This episode breaks down three key shifts that set high achievers apart. First, define your next level vision. What does success actually look like for you? Too many people chase goals that don't align with what they truly want, only to feel unfulfilled when they get there. Next, audit your habits. Are you filling your days with busy work, or are you making strategic moves that drive real progress? Finally, step into CEO energy. The most successful people don't second-guess every decision. They trust themselves, act with certainty, and move forward even when fear is in the mix.   Corinne challenges you to take one bold step today: make a decision you've been avoiding, without polling others for advice first. This series is all about momentum, and it starts with you taking the lead.   Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Introduction  00:34 Success Isn't Random 01:17 Radical Responsibility 01:50 Excuses vs. Action Steps 02:53 Step 1: Define Your Next Level Vision 05:25 Step 2: Audit Your Habits 08:38 Step 3: Commit to CEO Energy 10:13 Challenge: Make a Decision Today 10:34 Bonus Challenge: No Consultation 10:57 Closing   Links Connect With Corinne: https://www.gridandglam.com/ https://www.corinnemorahan.com/ https://www.instagram.com/gridandglam/ https://www.instagram.com/corinnemorahan/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/corinnemorahan/ https://www.facebook.com/gridandglam https://www.youtube.com/@gridandglam1 Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

This week's How She Finds Purpose insight comes from me, Dr. Robin. I say - "This is so common. We climb the ladder. We get the quote "good job". We do everything we were told would make us happy. But then when we look around, we feel empty. We feel numb, like we're just going through the motions because we built our success on other people's expectations not our authentic self. And when we are out of alignment with our authentic self no amount of success will ever feel like enough." If you've ever thought, I should be happy - I've done everything I was supposed to - but why do I feel this way? then this episode is for you. I'm kicking off a three-part series on why success alone isn't enough, starting with my own story. I'm sharing how I followed the “right” path, checked all the boxes, and still found myself feeling empty - until one simple question changed everything. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: You'll hear how I went from a leadership role at a major bank, where I looked successful but felt disconnected, to discovering what truly fulfills me. I'll introduce two key principles from my Purpose Maker Alignment Framework that help women leaders align success with purpose. In this episode, Jim and Nick discuss the principles of success, emphasizing the importance of commitment, input versus output, and the pursuit of worthy ideals. They explore how success is not just about the end result but the journey and effort put into achieving goals. The conversation highlights the significance of visualization, setting clear objectives, and taking control of one's path to success.  3 Key Takeaways: Success Through Discipline: Achievements result from consistent preparation and execution rather than singular moments of victory. Financial Ownership: Taking control of financial decisions leads to greater freedom, while reliance on external forces limits autonomy. Focus on Inputs (Not Outputs): Prioritizing effort, value creation, and disciplined action drives sustainable success, reducing frustration and increasing resilience. Success isn't about luck or timing—it's about discipline, preparation, and taking control of your financial future. Stay focused on what you can control, and the results will follow.
