Ckultur & La Alegre Pandilla
Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we sadly conclude our series on Interstate '76. Poor Tim could not really play the game at all, so we're going to have to let this one go, but we'll still talk about a few things. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Up to Mission 10 (B) Issues covered: Tim being unable to get the game running, other cultural objects disappearing, physics implementation details from an implementer!, PC compatibility testing, running down bugs even today, flight stick vs controller, acceleration and turning, independent throttle, analog triggers on modern controllers, easy difficulty, getting a lot out of a few cars, making cars seem smarter, lack of uncanny valley, feeling a whole story in a mission, level design vs mission design, repetitive missions in other games, rewarding you with movies, impersonating a President, committing to a stylistic identity, standing out from the crowd, leveraging an IP shift, moving around between teams, the other game made with the same fiction, working remotely in the games industry, fear and trust. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Nosferatu, Moby Dick, Typee, Omoo, Emily Dickinson, Hailee Steinfeld, True Grit, Phil Salvatore, Carlos, Julio Jerez, Daniel Stanfield, Starfighter (series), Quake, Tomb Raider, Ultima Underworld, Trespasser, TIE Fighter, Wing Commander (series), George H. I haven't played a bad Star Wars game yet, and Super Star Wars is probably a top 3 for me at this point. I love this game! It scratches every itch I have. It's an SNES game. It's fun. It's tough as balls. It plays great. Aside form that damned Sandcrawler, I don't know if I have a single complaint! Just don't expect me to talk about the last third of the game, because I can't get that far... My go to guest for all things Star Wars is my pal Tyler, and we had a chat about why this game is so good, despite being so tough. And we did it WHILE I was playing the game and setting a new personal best for how long I could last without dying! And before we put go to war with the stars, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks me what I would do if I could make any video game, anyway I want. What games would I make harder if I could? And should Mario Kart continue to include auto-steer options in future iterations? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 tough as balls SNES games: Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, The Lion King, and Super Ghouls N Ghosts. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame And you can check out Tyler's (incredibly rad) projects at: YouTube.com/s762official This week, we're going back to the stars and talking Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I'm still a Star Wars newb, but I have yet to play a game based on Luke and friends that I haven't liked. That streak continues with Jedi Academy. The story is ok, the force powers are cool, and the lightsaber mechanics are fucking insane!! I know a lot of people are all about the multiplayer for this one, but as I'm sure you're used to by now, I only play by myself. As did one of my guests, and the stupid sexy sponsor of this episode, Vic Vinegar. So we had a nice chat about trying to kill that little shit Rosh (you know you want to) and about our favourite Force perks. And then my pal Tyler swings by the show to talk about the zany adventures he's had online with this damned game. Let's go to school! Or the Academy. Whatever. And before we play with our sabres, I deliver another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks how to alphabetize their games when it comes to titles that start with 'The'. How should people that get motion sick tickle modern video games? And what sports movies would make great sports games? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This week on The Free Cheese, The Empire Strikes Back. Long before you could play your favorite characters in free-to-play video games, developers created movie and television show tie-in games that often strayed far enough from the source to become their own thing entirely. We take a look at one of the attempts at recapturing the magic of The Empire Strikes Back for the home console and see how the developers fared overall.

Aparte de historias nintenderas, hablamos de Zool, George Foreman KO Boxing, A link to the past, Super Star Wars y Pilotwings. EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal -> https://nordvpn.com/rtg Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! We're running a little behind on our Patreon Poll winner episodes right now, but I'm working on it! In August, Star Wars Episode I: Racer came out on top of the poll, and 2 months later, I've bought it, played it, and suckered one of my friends into talking to me about it. This was a tricky episode for me, because it's a game I never played growing up that a ton of you are nostalgic for, based on a franchise I don't really know that well, in a genre I could live without, on a system I don't like very much. I was worried this would be another Sonic Adventure 2, but it wasn't. The deck was stacked against this bad boy, but it's too damned fun for me to hate (even if I suck asssss at it). Former RTG Hall of Fame Mark McCue is back this week for another tantalizing chat about an old video game, and we got into the Light Side, and the Dark Side, of the beloved Star Wars Episode I: Racer. And before we crash over and over again, I piece together another edition of the 'Remember The Game? Infamous Intro'! This week, we talk about what happens to the games that come up short on Patreon Polls. What single player games would we like to see made into co-op titles? And is Nintendo's Switch Online Expansion Pack worth the extra money if you're just interested in a few N64 games? Plus we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 retro Star Wats titles: Rogue Squadron, Super Star Wars, and Shadows of the Empire. Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us!
Spel som nämns i djupdyket: Super Star Wars, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Donkey kong Country 2, Havets vargar, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Mario Party 4, The World Ends With You, Lost Kingdoms, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Starcraft, Startropics, Tomb Raider, Beneath a Steel Sky, Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger, Super Mario Bros., Resident Evil, Silent Hill 2, The Curse of Monkey Island, Boktai: The Sun is in your Hand och Dead Space. Goldie and Richard bore themselves silly playing Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (and make fun of the franchise), while Michael and Steven have the - and this is a direct quote - dullest one-sided fight on The King of Fighters '94! Today it's Geoff, Arnaldo, and Paul bringing you the best and worst (there's a lot of worst!) video games based on movies. The guys start out talking about when and why movies largely translate into bad video games (13:00) before Arnie rescues us with some picks for actual good games based on movies, including The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Scarface, and The Warriors for PS2 (26:30). Paul is up next with Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves for the NES and Super Star Wars for the SNES (55:00) followed by Geoff with Rogue Leader on the Gamecube, Alien 3 on the SNES, and of course, Goldeneye 007 for the N64 (1:11:00). But we can't talk about movie based video games without our picks for some of the worst, including the likes of The Lion King, Jurassic Park: Trespasser, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure!
