Velkommen! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On this episode of Analog Smile, Sherry speaks with David Poe. His highly-anticipated new album Everyone's Got A Camera arrives September 23rd, 2022 on ECR Music Group. Its powerful third single, “Analog” is out now. More sonically adventurous than his previous album, Poe's latest begins and ends with straightforward songs for a world in reckoning. This third single follows on a wave of critical and commercial success for the artist. Rolling Stone writes, “David Poe gives the singer-songwriter genre a much-needed jolt.” Poe has toured the world with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Tori Amos, The Jayhawks, and Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze. A composer fellow of the Sundance Institute, his work features in numerous film, TV, dance and theater projects, official selections of the Sundance Film Festival, and commercials for humanitarian projects like the Malala Fund and the You Mean The World Foundation. His songs have been performed by a wide array of artists, including Curtis Stigers, Oh Land, Ana Moura, C.C. White, Thomas Dybdahl and the cast of ABC's Nashville, and recorded by producers including T-Bone Burnett, Larry Klein, Buddy Miller, and Dave Sitek. He has also produced recordings for other artists, including Regina Spektor and Kraig Jarret Johnson. Shadowland, a collaboration with contemporary dance company Pilobolus, toured for a decade and was performed on five continents, for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and was released as a feature film. In an era of pop music that tends to either turn away from big concerns or focus on small ones, David Poe's Everyone's Got A Camera feels both new and old, as surprising as it is inevitable: a musical treatise for an age in flux that is as daring as it is profound. From 1960s-tinged rock & roll to quasi-trap, with nods to the jazz-inflected folk and acoustic music for which he is best known, Poe's new songs take on the handoff between this century and the last, surveillance culture and the ongoing battle between fact and opinion with a plain-spoken philosopher's wit. Transplanted from the American Midwest to New York City, David Poe served as the sound engineer at CBGB's 313 Gallery before signing with Sony/Epic. He currently lives in Los Angeles. Sherry and David chat about his new single “Analog”, his forthcoming album ‘Everyone's Got A Camera', and much more! Check out davidpoe.com for more information.

As broadcast August 18, 2021 with extra mileage for podcast VIP flyers not found on the mere radio transmission. We fly to Norway this evening with Lizz Kalo for our Round Trip weekly feature. This playlist was only difficult to make in terms of fitting in all we wanted to, as Norway is especially bursting with contemporary music of all types, but we also got in a couple older tunes to pay the originators their due. A lot of interesting interplay between American and Norwegian artists on the playlist as well. Klingt gut? Ist gut! Viel Spaß mit dieser Folge. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2ccFbWDqOopXfelHnIDip1?si=a397203103334035 Links zur Sendung Møn Campinghttps://moencamping.dk The Friendly Swedehttps://thefriendlyswede.com/de Beauer 3xhttps://beauer.fr/de Bicycle Camperhttps://widepathcamper.com/bicycle-camper/ Beachy (Hobby)https://www.beachy.de Chet Fakerhttps://www.chetfaker.com James Vincent McMorrowhttps://www.jamesvmcmorrow.com Thomas Dybdahlhttps://www.thomasdybdahl.no "Die Camping-Bibel"https://www.adac-shop.de/reiseliteratur/campingfuehrer/12521/yes-we-camp-die-adac-campingbibel Campermen auf Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecampermen Campermen-Radio bei Spotify

Kirsten Collins began working with Grammy producers and writers in the beginning of her teen years. Her potential for stardom was evident early on as she was singing on key when she was less than 2 years old. She sang her first solo at age 5 and wrote her first song at 6. At the age of 9 was fronting adult bands at professional events. She then went on to win Calgary Junior Idol when she was 10. She was later named Miss Teen Calgary - World in 2012 and also competed in the Miss Teen Canada - World pageant. As an actress, she had a major role in the 2009 film Rust, which featured her original song "Could You Imagine." She is featured on the MC Mario single "Anti-Gravity" and has received several offers from music labels, movie producers and has been featured in international publications but has decided to remain independent. David Poe has toured the world with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Jayhawks, Chris Whitley, Glenn Tilbrook and Tori Amos. His songs have been recorded by producers including T-Bone Burnett, Larry Klein, Buddy Miller and Dave Sitek, and performed by Curtis Stigers, Oh Land, Ana Moura, C.C. White, Thomas Dybdahl and the cast of Nashville. His solo recordings include his most recent release God & The Girl, a self-titled debut produced by T-Bone Burnett, The Late Album on Sony/Epic records, Love Is Red on Universal Music/The Lab, two live recordings and much, much more. Not bad for a sound engineer from the Midwest transplanted to Los Angeles by way of New York City.

In 1985, eight men were convicted of the grisly murder of a Washington D.C. woman. After spending decades in prison, they learned from an article in the Washington Post that prosecutors had withheld evidence from trial that could have exculpated them. This week, the Supreme Court delved back into the details of the 30-plus year old murder case and considered whether the case should be reopened. Former defense lawyer Thomas Dybdahl is writing a book about the murder and its aftermath, and joins us to discuss Turner v. USand Overton v. US. We also speak with legal scholar Lori Ringhand, who literally wrote the book on Supreme Court confirmation hearings. She reflects on some of the ways the process has evolved over the years, whether the so-called “Ginsburg rule” is appropriately named, and what purpose these hearings actually serve.
