EPISODE 73 DETAILS Pork & Poultry To China; Beef Left Waiting U.S. Pork and Poultry Exports to China Resume, But Beef Industry Awaits License Renewals In a significant development for U.S. agriculture, pork and poultry producers have regained access to Chinese markets, while beef exporters remain in limbo. The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) recently restored export licenses for over 300 U.S. pork processing and cold storage facilities, securing trade for the next five years. However, U.S. beef companies are still waiting for confirmation that their "expired" licenses under the Phase 1 trade agreement will be renewed. China Reopens Market For U.S. Pork & Poultry According to the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), the agreement reinstates billions of dollars in U.S. pork and poultry exports. Major producers such as Cargill Inc., Smithfield Foods, and Tyson Foods Inc. will now resume shipments to China, ensuring steady demand for American meat products. In 2024 alone, U.S. pork exports to China totaled over 367,000 metric tons, valued at approximately $1.1 billion. Uncertainty Looms For U.S. Beef Exports Despite these positive developments, the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has confirmed that the recent license renewals did not extend to beef producers. The U.S. beef industry exported an estimated 170,000 metric tons to China in 2024, making it a critical market. However, industry analysts at Stephens Inc. caution that uncertainty remains until the registration status is clarified. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) noted that China has yet to respond to renewal requests for U.S. beef export registrations. Over the past few days, the registration status of U.S. meat exports shifted from "existing" to "expired," raising concerns within the industry. Without clarity from Chinese authorities, American beef producers face potential trade disruptions. Implication For U.S. Beef Producers With pork and poultry exports back on track, the focus now shifts to securing access for U.S. beef. Industry leaders and trade officials continue to push for renewed agreements, emphasizing the importance of stability in international trade. As the situation unfolds, stakeholders in the U.S. beef sector remain hopeful for a resolution that reinstates access to one of the world's largest meat markets. Stay tuned for updates on this developing trade issue and its impact on the U.S. meat industry.   Upcoming Bull & Heifer Sales On RanchChannel.Com Lot's of bull and heifer sales coming up on the RanchChannel.Com sale calendar.  Eichacker Simmentals & JK Angus, Fast/Dohrmann/Strommen Angus and Leland/Koester Red Angus are all the upcoming sales.  Check out the full line up HERE. EPISODE 29 DETAILS TYSON NOT SURE ON BEEF HERD RECOVERY AS CHALLENGES LOOM.   Tyson Foods Inc. officials said they do not have a prediction on when U.S. ranchers will begin rebuilding the nation's cattle herd after high feed costs and drought in 2023 prompted suppliers to reduce the number of cattle for slaughter. The moves resulted in tighter supplies and increased the amount Tyson pays for livestock, in addition to sending the processor's beef segment to an adjusted operating loss of $34 million in the second quarter and a loss of $151 million for the first six months of the fiscal year. Tyson earlier this month projected an operating loss of between $40 million and $100 million for its beef business for all of fiscal 2024 in the wake of an anticipated 2% decrease in domestic beef production this year from fiscal 2023. SCIENTISTS FIND H5N1 AVIAN FLU VIRUS IN WASTEWATER ACROSS TEXAS.   Researchers are reporting that they confirmed the presence of the virus that causes avian influenza in wastewater recently monitored in nine of 10 Texas cities. A team of scientists from Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center announced the findings as part of an investigation of recent H5N1 outbreaks in cattle and ferrets in recent months. Scientists are trying to determine how the H5N1 virus is spreading to dairy cows and are increasingly considering wastewater sampling programs as a main surveillance tool, according to a report on the findings from the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota. The NYC ‘rule' will essentially require pizzerias with pre-2016 ovens to invest in a filtration system that will reportedly cost upwards of $20,000, according to the New York Post back in June: Under the mandate, restaurants with coal-and-wood-fired ovens must hire an engineer or architect to assess the feasibility of installing emission controls devices to achieve a 75% reduction in particulate emissions. If this report concludes that a reduction of 75% or more cannot be achieved, or that no emissions controls can be installed, it must identify any emission controls that could provide a reduction of at least 25% or an explanation for why no emission controls can be installed. This has led New York “Patriot-Activist-Artist” Scott LoBaido to call for a protest at noon on Wednesday, March 20th.  The concept behind the protest is reminiscent of the historic Boston Tea Party:  LoBaido is encouraging New Yorkers to assemble peacefully at City Hall with two pizzas and a dozen (or two) bagels.  One pizza will be to “feed the pigeons,” while the other will be handed out to feed the homeless in the area: Source: thegatewaypundit.com https://twitter.com/EndWokeness/status/1767897813164208461?s=20 https://twitter.com/WallStreetSilv/status/1767964542384906339?s=20   afford rent" "The big cities who voted for Justin Trudeau are suffering the most because of his disastrous and costly policies" Tyson Foods Announces Closure of Major Pork Packing Plant in Perry, IA Leaving Over 1,200 Workers Jobless The town of Perry, Iowa was dealt a severe blow as Tyson Foods Inc., one of the world's leading meat producers, declared the closure of its major pork packing plant in the area, resulting in 1,276 employees facing unemployment. There they raised their family and lots of sheep and cattle. Jim was one of 11 children and learned to love cattle from his Dad, which he passed down to his sons. In 2011, Jim, Twyla, Travis and Brady moved south of Starbuck to start their ranch, Clear Springs Cattle Company. This is when the family transitioned from Limousin to Simmental. They then teamed up with Hook Farms to start marketing genetics under the Bred For Balance brand. The Ranch Located on the Glacial Ridge, surrounded by rolling prairie and oak savannas, Clear Springs has a unique landscape for Minnesota. The namesake is the many natural springs they have captured to water the cattle, providing them with some of the cleanest water in the world. Every acre is managed with soil health in mind, from intensive rotation on the pastureland to no till and cover crops practiced on the farmland. The vacation rental house on the ranch allows us to share our beautiful views and rural lifestyle with others. The Herd Grown mainly from the Hook Farms herd, the current CLRS cowherd is "bred for balance". Balance between genotype and physical traits, balance throughout their EPD profiles, and balance within the offering having both maternal and terminal oriented bulls. The latest tools and technology are used to further advance the genetics of the herd as well as good ol' cowboy logic. They strive to graze as long as possible each year and develop seedstock with longevity in mind. The Wulf family, along with their affiliates Highland Acres, Anderson Cattle and Trails End market yearling bulls and select females through the Bred for Balance sale held each February.   BEEF ANTITRUST LITIGATION GETS MORE ENTRIES According to Meating Place, The Big Four beef packing companies face yet another four lawsuits accusing them of conspiring to “fix, raise, stabilize and/or maintain the price of beef” sold to retailers since 2015, according to the documents in filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York last week. The New York cases mirror allegations leveled in lawsuits filed over the last few months in North Carolina and Illinois, and a case filed in 2022 by several quick-service restaurant chains. The Illinois case and those that were filed earlier have been transferred to the Minnesota District Court to be consolidated with other, similar antitrust cases in Multidistrict Litigation. All of those lawsuits resemble previous litigation against beef packers that garnered settlements in the tens of millions of dollars, at the same time that the Department of Justice and Congress scrutinized their practices.  In the most recent New York-based cases, BJ's Wholesale Club Inc., Gordon Food Service Inc. and Glazer Foods Co.,  Quality Supply Chain Co-Op Inc. (QSCC) and Target Corp., all accused Cargill Inc., JBS S.A., National Beef Packing Co. and Tyson Foods Inc. of coordinating or manipulating beef prices to levels they would not have reached without the alleged actions, according to court documents. The separate filings also accuse several operating affiliates of the four processors of participating in the alleged violations of the Sherman Act through “anticompetitive means” concerning the price of boxed and case-ready meat. The four defendants sold approximately 80% of the more than 25 million pounds of fresh and frozen beef sold in the U.S. market in 2018 alone, each of the similar suits claim. The latest lawsuits also all cite efforts by the U.S. Department of Justice and USDA in 2020 to investigate allegations of beef pricing practices among the current defendants going back to at least the beginning of 2015. Tyson Foods, Inc. has publicized their earnings report with CEO, Donnie D. King, acknowledging to investors on the call, the challenges faced by the industry and the importance of operational excellence. From the report, the company appears to be focused on performance enhancement, cost reduction and market adaptation. However, no direct references to any sector changes that might impact customers or alter consumer behavior were identified. The earnings report reveals some noteworthy aspects about Tyson Foods, Inc.'s recent performance. Firstly, the company has shown consistent improvement with regard to overall earnings. Signs of growth have been detected since the fourth quarter, promoting confidence in the business's long-term potential. Additionally, market demand for protein is remaining steady, indicating Tyson's ability to meet these market requirements. Secondly, from a financial perspective, Tyson Foods displays robust strength. The company's growth is being supported by positive results from the Branded Foods segment, as well as maintaining a leading role in the retail market-share race. Expanding its international presence in key markets and channels has also bolstered company growth. Nevertheless, the company did acknowledge complications in market dynamics for beef and pork products, leading to squeezed margins. Thirdly, the success of Tyson Foods is largely ascribable to the solid performance of the company's branded products. Tyson Foods is consistently outperforming the broader food and beverage category while achieving market share growth across its core businesses. The food service sector, in particular, has been a significant momentum driver, highlighting Tyson Food's strong emphasis on efficiency, productivity and operational excellence. Fourthly, strategic plans have been developed by Tyson Foods to ensure its ongoing success. Priorities have been identified as enhancing financial strength and cash flow, with disciplined capital allocation and improved procurement as key areas of focus. In order to enhance its competitive edge, Tyson is aiming to increase operational efficiencies and grow its presence in the chicken sector. Similarly, Tyson Foods plans to build on its existing success in the Prepared Foods sector by realigning with suppliers and customers in the beef market. Their focus is further supported by ongoing productivity initiatives, among which logistics and digitalization are included. Given the commitment to operational excellence and an evidently proactive approach, Tyson Foods, Inc. is seemingly well-positioned for continued success in the ever-evolving food industry. This conclusion is, of course, based entirely on statements and acknowledgments made by the company itself on their earnings call. It's always important to independently investigate any financial claims a company interprets from their statistics.

Tyson Foods Inc. became the latest large company to announce its departure from Chicago, continuing a trend in the city that many have argued is the result of the city's skyrocketing rates of crime and threatens to do harm to its most vulnerable populations."You're talking about a situation where you have a hollowed out economy, where you have businesses leaving, there are no jobs," Heritage Foundation senior research fellow in the Center for Health and Welfare Policy Robert Moffit told Fox News Digital last month. "And the people who are desperately hurt by this are mostly low income and black and minority residents who suffer the most from this high crime."

Today, we look at what happened. Also, there are two interesting possibilities being debated online. For one, that he'll be able to get out of it because of the "bots," and on the other side, that he may be forced to buy Twitter by a judge. Are either of these possible or even likely? Find out! In the first segment, we talk about our amazingly successful fundraiser ($160,000+ raised!) and what's going on in Texas right now. hint: it's not good. Nationwide — Civil rights activist Essie Berry says that Tyson Foods Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa appears to be allowing people of color to be violated leading to emotional and mental trauma associated with depression in employees who have suffered from serious injuries while working. She also says that they are also denying employees who have been traumatized and suffering from mental health issues that are directly connected to their work. A Black woman was reportedly severely burned and ended up with third-degree burns to her back that happened directly in front of another employee and traumatized him. The next day following this incident, she was reportedly ordered to return back to work. Tyson is also alleging that the company is pressuring employees that have been diagnosed and evaluated by professionals such as a psychiatrist and therapist to return to work while not fully recovering from their injuries and trauma. Employees have reached out to Mrs. Berry sharing their personal experiences of malicious treatment of employees. Several employees have shared how they have been mistreated by management & supervisors when they were injured in their specific jobs. Employees explained that they have had severe injuries such as body part replacements, broken & fractured bones, and some have been given an ultimatum to return to work while not fully recovered from their injuries or risk being fired. Mr. Washington is an employee who was threatened to be cut off workers compensation while still being mentally and physically impaired. Tyson appears to have no remorse for their employees or their feelings. Mrs. Berry comments, “I know for a fact because Mr. Washington, an employee, was injured at Tyson Foods in 2019 and continued working while being on medication and physically impaired. He was placed on reasonable accommodations by his doctor and taken off these accommodations and restrictions by Tyson's careless and malicious decisions, which He re-injured himself and caused a meltdown. It is sad to know that a company of this magnitude would do this to their employees especially when this person has been there for 14 plus years.” This man is now 61-years old, underwent a complete total hip replacement, suffered a broken thumb, and had shoulder surgery. He is on several severe prescription medications. He has lost over 50 percent of his body capacity, disabled and his quality of life will never be the same. Mr. Washington had retained two attorneys previously that were ignoring his mental and emotional state but is now he's pleased with his current attorney. Tyson knows that employees should not be working while taking heavy prescription medications to prevent endangering other employees and this is against OSHA guidelines. It is not fair to employees to be pressured to return to work when they are not well mentally or physically which places them under constant fear of reprisal. It is now time to take a stand and expose what's really happening behind closed doors and for Tyson to be held accountable for its actions. Many employees are afraid to speak because of internal intimidation. I have witnessed this for myself firsthand. It's now time for a change to assist employees. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/essie-berry/message

Plant shutdowns are leaving Americans dangerously close to seeing meat shortages at grocery stores. Meanwhile, farmers are facing the likely culling of millions of animals and mass burial graves could soon be dug across the heartland. “The food supply chain is breaking,” said John Tyson, chairman of Tyson Foods Inc., the biggest U.S. meat company. Outbreaks are forcing the closure of some of the country’s biggest slaughterhouses, where tens of thousands of animals are processed daily. As the plants shutter, producers are left with nowhere to sell their livestock. It’s forcing farmers to make gut-wrenching decisions to dispose of their animals. The situation is so severe that the U.S. government is setting up a center partly to assist on “depopulation and

Germany-based company Bayer considers entering the booming plant-based meat market. Bayer is known for its products and services under agriculture and healthcare. After acquiring another business, it is also now the world's biggest pesticide and seed company. Recently, an executive at Bayer announced that the company is considering entering the plant-based meat market as an alternative protein supplier. As a plant-breeding business, Bayer sees the growing trend as an opportunity to enter a new industry and gain a lot for its business. Plant-based meat substitutes, such as vegetable and soy burger patties, have become popular in recent years. Based on a survey done by research firm Mintel, 46% of consumers in the United States alone prefer plant-based meat over traditional meat in their diets. Consumers want to switch from meat products to plant-based alternatives because consuming the former involves health risks, raises concerns about animal welfare, and poses hazards to the environment. Analysts from Mintel also say that the plant-based meat market is going to grow further. In fact, even companies that produce traditional meat, such as Tyson Foods Inc., Maple Leaf Foods Inc., and Perdue Farms, have started selling meat made from peas or soybeans. However, Bayer's plan to become an alternative protein supplier is raising some ethical issues among vegans. According to a report, Bayer engages in business practices that violate the principles of veganism, a lifestyle that avoids all forms of exploitation of animals for food, clothing, or other purposes. For one, Bayer's admission to using animals in experiments can be held against the company.
