Both initally outline their careers to date, and both David and Paola have very applicable experience in working to ensure data utilisation by researchers in elderly care and oncology respectively. We start with the history of HDR UK, the national institute of health data science, with a mission to unite health relevant data to enable discoveries that improve peoples' lives, with a 20-year vision to ensure advanced analytics to benefit every clinical interaction, clinical trials and public health (as seen with COVID-19). Founded in 2018, HDR UK is undergoing its 5-year review of what it has achieved and what it proposes to achive over the next 5 years, focused on three pillars, (1) delivering ground breaking research via its driver programmes, (2), bringing together infrastructure and services across the UK and internationally enabling large-scale data use in a trustworthy way, and (3), working through partnerships at a local level in the UK, as well as internationally, to meet its goals. In the remainder of the episode, we discuss these there domains further, with respect to HDR UK, but also the development of the UK Health Data Research Alliance, in particular to ensure trustworthy use of health data, including patient and public involvement. We explore some of the challenges HDRUK and the Alliance have faced, and how the institution has responded to them, for instance with the use of the '5 Safes' framework. EHDEN is delighted to be collaborating with HDR UK on the final Data Partner Call at time of this episode, with HDR UK supporting some of the UK applicants if selected and ongoing partnership with our combined network Data Partners in the UK and EU.

#084 Networking in Healthcare 101 — Dr Vishaal Virani (Head of UK Health, YouTube)

Dr Vishaal Virani is Head of UK Health at YouTube. He started his career as an NHS doctor, before moving to healthcare strategy consulting. He then worked at Ada Health as Business Development and Client Success Director, before becoming Global Digital Innovation Manager at Reckitt. Along the way he co-founded Doctorpreneurs which was one of the first and largest networks of doctor entrepreneurs. As well as his role at YouTube, Vishaal is also a Governor at the Royal Free London NHS Trust. This episode is a bit different to usual. This is a call in which I'm getting some mentorship advice on how to build my network in digital health, and how I should be leveraging this podcast to make useful and lasting connections. Although the advice is specific to my case, I think it's quite useful for anyone who's starting their career in healthcare and wants to do interesting things in research, entrepreneurship or policy. I think Vishaal's advice is quite broadly applicable to anyone in similar shoes. Towards the end we discuss YouTube's mission in healthcare, and some of the challenges that come along with it. I hope you enjoy. You can find me on Twitter @MustafaSultan and subscribe to my newsletter on www.musty.io

Happy New Chi'er! You know that every show I craft is a gift for you, each and every week. I do this, not because I have to, but because I can and have access to amaZing guests, often pioneers in the field of energy medicine which at its core is preventative powering-up self care. With such useful stuff to share on how and why attending to your primary energy does indeed matter, very much, it does us well to prioritise this relationship with ourselves, so we can tap into a free wellspring of resource, from whence to burst forth and be of service - and know how and when to relax. This episode started with a draw to discuss Space and Time for oneself as I have been needing to craft me some Chi Time over the winter break. It then grew into sharing a keen meditation to prepare you for some highlights from 2021. Deep and rich and even (balanced)  Here's the direct link to UK Health radio, which I highly recommend as the music is an integral part of the flow of the show IMHO :) Your can, off course pick it up on the podcast channels as 'Clara Apollo's Chi Time'.  https://bit.ly/3znt76H We begin with a powerful call-to-action track by Estas Tonne and Tobias 'The Call' (from the Time of the Sixth Sun movie) followed by qi-full thoughts on the importance of letting oneself drop into spaciousness and a guided meditation that invites you to access that via inner space presencing to drop into a deep well of resource. In second half of this first Chi Time of the year, I choose x3 excerpts as highlights from 2021. The first from the much loved Qigong teacher and author Mimi Kuo Deemer, Institute of Integral Qigong Arts CEO Dr Roger Jahnke and F*** Its Qi-teach John C Parkin.  Topics are on balance, nature, power, activating high vibe and how Qi is an actual barometer of truth.  Happy 2022 Chi-stars, wish well and wisely as we imagine the New Earth into Being together.
