In this episode of the Global Regulatory Update, Martin Boer, General Manager and Chief Representative, Europe, speaks with Laurin Frommann, Managing Director & Partner, and Andreas Bürkli, Associate Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), about the creation of the new European Anti-Money Laundering Authority, AMLA, and how it will reshape the AML/CFT supervisory landscape across Europe. Drawing on insights from the joint IIF–BCG white paper, The Evolution of the AML/CFT Landscape Under the New European Anti-Money Laundering Authority, the conversation explores how AMLA aims to replace years of fragmented national approaches with a more centralized supervisory framework rooted in risk‑based oversight and greater supervisory coherence. The discussion examines AMLA's dual mandate to supervise high‑risk cross‑border institutions and support Financial Intelligence Units, as well as its ambition to become a data‑driven authority that improves reporting consistency and supports more intelligence‑led supervision. The podcast also looks at AMLA's emphasis on technology‑enabled financial‑crime detection, including how supervisors and industry can work together to assess emerging tools such as AI and machine‑learning solutions. Laurin and Andreas discuss the importance of a proportionate, principles‑based approach across different sectors and customer segments to ensure supervisory expectations remain both effective and achievable. Another focus of the conversation is AMLA's forthcoming direct supervision of 40 firms, designed to act as a “lighthouse” for broader EU supervisory practices. The guests reflect on how firms perceive this designation, the reputational sensitivities involved, and the operational and governance preparations already underway across the industry. The discussion concludes with AMLA's potential global role: strengthening the EU's voice in international AML/CFT standard setting, improving cross‑border coordination, and contributing to more outcome‑focused global frameworks, while also supporting the competitiveness of EU‑headquartered institutions.

Laurin is a transformation coach focused on relationships, mindset, and personal development, with a direct focus on male–female dynamics. Her approach is simple: “Raw truth. Real growth. No apologies.”In her words: “Truth over comfort. Structure over chaos. Coaching for people ready to lead themselves and stop repeating the same patterns.“Her starting point wasn't unusual—stable job, predictable routine, and a life that looked fine from the outside. Underneath it, things weren't working. That drift led her to nearly 125kg (275 lbs), before a moment where she made a clear decision: continue as is, or take control. What followed wasn't a quick fix, but a shift in identity, standards, and behaviour.Laurin shares her transformation from 275 pounds to bikini competitor, This amazing physical change came from consistent execution—early mornings, structured training, disciplined nutrition. But that wasn't the hard part. Relationships that once felt normal started to break down. The hard part was addressing the behaviours behind it. Binge eating, people-pleasing, avoidance—none of that gets fixed in a gym. It gets fixed by recognising it, owning it, and changing it.Her patterns weren't solved with workouts—they were addressed through awareness, coaching, ownership over emotion.Growth is selective. Not everyone comes with you.We talk about how her coach became her husband, and the “controversial” marriage rules that keep their relationship structured, passionate, and functional—covering respect, submission, boundaries, and avoiding sexless marriages. She also breaks down why the majority of her audience is male, the reality behind resistance to accountability, and what men can actually do to stay attractive, lead with confidence, and maintain polarity in male/female relationships.Laurin is direct about what most people avoid: without standards, you tolerate things you shouldn't. Over time, that creates resentment, confusion, and instability—whether that's dating or marriage (long-term relationships). Most of the time, it's not a compatibility issue. It's a self-leadership issue. Her work on masculine and feminine dynamics is grounded in what actually plays out, not theory. Attraction and stability rely on polarity. When there's no direction, no accountability, no emotional control—things fall apart. Respect drops first. Attraction follows. What's left is tension, inconsistency, and eventually, disconnection. This isn't about control or dominance. It's about clarity. Knowing your standards, holding them, and acting in line with them—consistently.Laurin's message is simple:You don't rise to your intentions—you fall back to your behaviours. Standards you don't enforce do not exist. And how you lead yourself determines everything that follows. At its core Lauren's message is grounded in reality: transformation hinges not on motivation, but on daily decisions, a supportive environment, high standards, and a powerful mindset.Transformation is not about motivation. It's about your decisions, repeated daily.Don't miss Laurin's insights on the dangers of silence in marriage, roles in relationships and why your mindset matters more than anything.

Some of the most misunderstood and emotionally charged topics for men are: attraction, compatibility, and what actually creates lasting connection with a woman. My guest, Laurin Ponce, helps us break down the difference between compatibility, connection, and chemistry - and why confusing those three is where most relationships go off the rails. We talk about what women truly find attractive in a grounded man, what it really means when a woman asks for space, why it feels like there are more rules for men, and how respect is built long before it's ever given. From attachment styles and masculine frame to why women's touch is medicine and how peace and respect create a relationship where both people feel safe and free, this conversation cracks open the unspoken dynamics most men are trying to navigate alone. We also explore the practical side: non-negotiables, testing for compatibility, shared values, money, day-to-day living, and why partners are often mirrors and triggers for our own unresolved work. Learn how Seipp became Chicago's beer baron and why his name is back on shelves now. Plus: corner bar culture at Archie's Iowa Rockwell Tavern.Conrad Seipp Brewing Co. owner Laurin Mack joins the podcast at Archie's Iowa Rockwell Tavern to trace how she resurrected the family brewery, which was founded in 1854, survived the Great Chicago Fire, and once ranked among America's largest. She tells the wild story of her great-great-great-grandfather Conrad Seipp, an immigrant carpenter turned beer baron, and how his brewery rose to become one of the top-producing operations in the U.S. Along the way, she explains how 19th-century brewery fires and the Great Chicago Fire reset competition, how the World's Columbian Exposition shaped beer branding, and how Prohibition shuttered Seipp despite pivots like cereal beverages and ginger ale. She also discusses the Black Point Estate & Gardens in Lake Geneva—the preserved Seipp summer home you still reach by boat—and how it influenced her decision to revive the Conrad Seipp Brewing brand as a living link between Chicago's past and its present beer scene. After the beer break, Laurin discusses Seipp's Columbia World's Fair Bock (a crisp 6% dark lager) and unpacks brewer Doug Hurst's role in translating tradition into modern lagers. She explains what their detective work revealed about why the first American Pilsners didn't work and how small adjuncts like flaked corn helped pre-Prohibition Pilsners achieve the snap people craved. Plus: 19th-century “strength” vs. today's ABV, Seipp's early refrigerated boxcar distribution, and how the revived brand landed with drinkers. To wrap up, Archie's Iowa Rockwell Tavern owner Katrina Arthur joins the conversation to share Archie's origin story, why a giant Hamm's sign still glows over the intersection of Iowa and Rockwell, the free cheese balls, wooden drink tokens, and what it's like to grow up in a tavern — all before the Final Toast (featuring… the Tamale Guy?!).About Conrad Seipp Brewing Company: Seipp's beer is Chicago's beer. Founded in 1854, the Conrad Seipp Brewing Company tells the story of the city's history. The times have changed, but the principles of Seipp remain: accessible, well-crafted beer made from high quality ingredients. Standards set the foundation for any professional organization. The baseline for professionalism in the US Army is Army Regulation 670-1; Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia. This regulation dictates the standard for every Soldier, regardless of rank or position. AR 670-1 has long been a hot topic of discussion among Soldiers and leaders at every level; and too often left open to interpretation. Until now…At the direction of senior Army leadership, Army Directive 670-1 has been released to clarify these standards and provide shared understanding between Soldiers and leaders to know what ‘right' looks like.To explain the changes and how they will affect every member of the Army, Fran Racioppi sat down with Sergeant Major of the Army Mike Weimer, SGM Laurin Nabors and SGM Alex Kupratty. The SMA shares the “why” behind personal grooming standards and the importance of doing the little things that develop a culture of commitment from compliance. SGM Kupratty breaks down the definition of professional soldier from the experienced warriors of 75th Ranger Regiment to the new Privates of 4th Infantry Division. SGM Nabors provides the details on what's changing, when and how the new standards are expected to be enforced. She also shares her journey from an Army Reserve heavy equipment operator to the halls of the Pentagon. This episode is about redefining what it means to serve in the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen and why development of a war fighting culture starts with how a Soldier presents themself each and every day.Highlights0:00 Welcome to the Jedburgh Podcast3:26 Army Directive vs Regulation in 670-15:30 Why Now8:49 Closing Gaps12:55 Changes to 670-121:08 Why Standards Matter28:25 Analyzing Data29:42 Beards34:30 Preparing soldiers38:10 Active Guard Reserve44:30 Joining the Ranger Battalion49:42 The Grace Period50:33 Daily HabitsQuotes“Part of the problem is our process is too slow.”“The first thing I had to figure out is are they educated?”“Do they understand the standards as they are written?”“Once you are emplaced in a leadership position, that's where the commitment piece has to be rock solid.”"If you can't do the simple things I'm asking you to do, how are you going to do the hard things in combat?”“We had to come in and really define “What is military appearance?”“It's a direct reflection of your willingness to be compliant to a standard in your leaders.”“The why reinforces one uniformity.”“We're part of something bigger than all of us."“Really understanding the generational differences that exist is arguably the most challenging thing that I found as a senior leader in the Army.”“I don't think anybody knows what large scale combat will look like.”“The camaraderie that exists in that formation is unlike anything I've seen before.”“Leadership's not about 'What did I do here today?' D. B. Cooper is the name we use for a man who hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in the pacific northwest, in the airspace between Portland and Seattle on Wednesday, November 24, 1971.  He demanded a ransom and leaped from the plane with a parachute…probably. Despite a manhunt and massive FBI investigation, the man has never been located or identified. It remains the only unsolved case of air piracy in commercial aviation history. The FBI maintained an active investigation for 45 years after the hijacking. The FBI kept the case open till July 2016.    This episode brought to you by, Magic Mind! His military experience included advanced jump training and wilderness survival. He was a crazy fan of DB Cooper, claiming he could "write the epitaph for D.B. Cooper".  Late in his life he reportedly told three of his sons, a retired Utah judge, and a friend in the Salt Lake City public defender's office that he had committed the hijacking. Photos of Gossett taken circa 1971 bear a close resemblance to the most widely circulated Cooper composite drawing. According to Galen Cook, a lawyer who has studied Gossett for years, claimed Gossett once showed his sons a key to a Vancouver safe deposit box which, he claimed, contained the ransom money. Gossett's eldest son, Greg, said that his father, a compulsive gambler who was always "strapped for cash", showed him "wads of cash" just before Christmas 1971, weeks after the Cooper hijacking. He speculated that Gossett gambled the money away in Las Vegas. In 1988, Gossett changed his name to "Wolfgang" and became a Roman Catholic priest, which some interpreted as an effort to disguise his identity.  The FBI has no direct evidence implicating Gossett and cannot even reliably place him in the Pacific Northwest at the time of the hijacking.  Richard McCoy, Jr. McCoy was an Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, first as a demolition expert, and later, with the Green Berets as a helicopter pilot.  On April 7, 1972, McCoy staged the best-known of the so-called "copycat" hijackings. He boarded United Airlines' Flight 855 (a Boeing 727 with rear stairs) in Denver, Colorado, brandishing what later proved to be a paperweight resembling a hand grenade and an unloaded handgun, he demanded four parachutes and $500,000.  After delivery of the money and parachutes at San Francisco International Airport, McCoy ordered the aircraft back into the sky and bailed out over Provo, Utah, leaving behind his handwritten hijacking instructions and his fingerprints on a magazine he was reading.  He was arrested on April 9 with the ransom cash in his possession, and after trial and conviction, received a 45-year sentence. Two years later he escaped from Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary with several accomplices by crashing a garbage truck through the main gate. Tracked down three months later in Virginia Beach, McCoy was killed in a shootout with FBI agents. The FBI agent who killed McCoy said "When I shot Richard McCoy, I shot D. B. Cooper at the same time." Although there is no reasonable doubt that McCoy committed the Denver hijacking, the FBI does not consider him a suspect in the Cooper case because of mismatches in age and description; also he had a level of skydiving skill well above that thought to be possessed by the hijacker; and they also had evidence that McCoy was in Las Vegas on the day of the Portland hijacking, and at home in Utah the day after, having Thanksgiving with his family. Walter R. Reca Walter R. Reca was a Michigan-native, a military veteran and original member of the Michigan Parachute Team. He was proposed as a suspect by his friend Carl Laurin, a former commercial airline pilot and expert parachuter himself, at a press conference on May 17, 2018. In 2008, Reca confessed to being D.B. Cooper to Laurin via a recorded phone call. In July 2018, Principia Media released a four-part documentary detailing their investigation. Reca gave Laurin permission in a notarized letter to share his story after he passed away in 2014, at age 80. He also allowed Laurin to tape their phone conversations about the crime over a six-week period in late 2008.  In the over three hours of recordings, Reca gave new details about the hijacking that the public had not heard before. He also confessed to his niece, Lisa Story. Using his years of training to determine the location of the jump, Laurin concluded that D.B. Cooper landed near Cle Elum, Washington. According to written testimony, Jeff Osiadacz, a Cle Elum, Washington native, was driving his dump truck near Cle Elum the night of November 24, 1971, when he saw a man walking down the side of the road in the inclement weather. He assumed the man's car had broken down and was walking to get assistance.  However, he did not have room in his truck to pick him up. He continued toward his destination, the Teanaway Junction Café just outside of Cle Elum. After ordering coffee, the man from the side of the road also entered the café looking like a "drowned rat", according to Osiadacz.  The man sat next to him and asked if he would be able to give his friend directions if he called him on the phone. Osiadacz agreed to this and spoke with the man's friend, giving him directions to the cafe. Shortly after that, Osiadacz left for the Grange Hall to play in a band. The man offered to pay for his coffee, and the two amicably parted. Laurin began his search for the witness, after Reca described the landscape he saw while on his way to the drop zone: two bridges, some distinct lights; and his description of the exterior and interior of the café, as well as his encounter with Osiadacz. He described Osiadacz in detail, recalling that he was wearing western gear and had a guitar case. He dubbed him "Cowboy". Laurin consulted a map to find these particular landmarks and began making phone calls about the "Cowboy who had driven a dump truck." Laurin was put in contact with Osiadacz, who recalled meeting a man that night, described what he was wearing and what he looked like, and confirmed his identity as Reca after seeing a photo Laurin sent him.  In addition to the taped confession, Laurin also has a confession written by Reca and long underwear allegedly worn by Reca under his black pants during the hijacking. In 2016, Laurin took the information to publisher Principia Media, who consulted with Joe Koenig, a certified fraud examiner and forensic linguist with 45 years of investigative experience. He evaluated all documents, including passports, identification cards, photographs, and newspaper clippings.  Koenig found no evidence of tampering or manipulation and deemed all documentation authentic. After comparing Laurin's research to the available FBI records, he found no discrepancies that eliminated Reca as a suspect. He also thought it particularly significant that Osiadacz's statement of events on the night of November 24, 1971 was identical to the account that Reca made five years earlier. Koenig publicly stated at the Principia Media press conference on May 17, 2018 that he believes that Walter R. Reca was D.B. Cooper. Duane Weber Duane L. Weber was a World War II Army veteran who served time in at least six prisons from 1945 to 1968 for burglary and forgery. He was proposed as a suspect by his widow, based primarily on a deathbed confession: Three days before he died in 1995, Weber told his wife, "I am Dan Cooper."  The name meant nothing to her, she said; but months later, a friend told her of its significance in the hijacking. She went to her local library to research D.B. Cooper, found Max Gunther's book, and discovered notations in the margins in her husband's handwriting. She then recalled, in retrospect, that Weber once had a nightmare during which he talked in his sleep about jumping from a plane, leaving his fingerprints on the "aft stairs". He also reportedly told her that an old knee injury had been incurred by "jumping out of a plane". Like the hijacker, Weber drank bourbon and chain smoked.  Other circumstantial evidence included a 1979 trip to Seattle and the Columbia River, during which Weber took a walk alone along the river bank in the Tina Bar area; four months later Brian Ingram made his ransom cash discovery in the same area. The FBI eliminated Weber as an active suspect in July 1998 when his fingerprints did not match any of those processed in the hijacked plane, and no other direct evidence could be found to implicate him. Later, his DNA also failed to match the samples recovered from Cooper's tie, though the bureau has since conceded that they cannot be certain that the organic material on the tie came from Cooper.
