De to havde længe været dødsfjender. Musik: Adi Zukanovic.

#MenschMahler - Die Podcast Kolumne - podcast eins GmbH

Ja, sollte man! Hosted on Acast. The Logic of Violence, the Impact of Violence.  There were two Intifadas. The first began in December, 1987. The second is called the Al Aqsa Intifada and began in September, 2000.  The first involved non-lethal violence on the part of the Palestinians, throwing stones, burning tires. The second was extremely violent.  In both cases, from a Palestinian point of view, the protection of Islam and Islamic Holy Sites was a major motivating force.  The Here are some names and terms you might not know: Names:  Yitzhak Rabin, Yasser Arafat, Dennis Ross, Aaron David Miller, Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, Benjamin Netanyahu, Anwar Sadat, Colonel Luft, Professor Papp, Marwan Barghouti, Shimon Peres, Sheikh Yassin, Dr. Rantisi. Yitzhak Shamir. . Other terms:  Oslo Accords of 1993, Camp David (Carter and Clinton efforts), IDF (Israeli military)There is an excellent film called Paradise Now. It focuses on the logic of suicide bombing. Menachem Begin wrote a memoir, The Revolt.  It addresses what is terrorism and what is not.  When US forces went into Afghanistan after 9/11 and entered the Al Qaeda camps they were stunned to discover Begin's  materials on Al Qaeda computers.  I was not surprised.  Begin's  organization was Irgun. Fatah is Yassir Arafat's party; Al Aqsa Brigade is a Fatah  military unit. Kill ratio is a term from the Vietnam War.  It means the ratio of our dead to their dead. The kill ratio in first Intifada was 23:1.  23 Palestinians died for every Israeli who died.  Why did I say 23:3?  That makes no sense.  But that kind of glitch happens in the middle of a talk. Note:  I originally delivered two talks on this topic.  This merges the two.

Episode Description On Saturday evening, November 4, 1995, 25 years ago: Yitzkah Rabin, the first Israeli Prime Minister born in Israel was assassinated by Yigal Amir, an Israeli law student at Bar Ilan University and a religious, right-wing extremist. It happened at the Kings of Israel Square in Tel Aviv, now named Rabin Square, after a Peace Rally under the slogan "Yes to Peace-No to Violence", with over a hundred thousand supporters in attendance. The assassination represented the beginning of the end of one of the most hopeful, and also divisive eras in Israeli history- the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis initiated by The Oslo Accords, a groundbreaking agreement led by Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Yassir Arafat, Chairman of the Palestinian Authority with the strong support of US President Bill Clinton. We try to remember Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin as a person, a soldier, and a statesman, delve into the Oslo Accords and the peace process and reckon with what has happened in Israeli society since the tragedy of Rabin's assassination. The IDF plans to draft some for eight years, others for one year, others not at all: Is it finally really time to stick a fork in the notion of a “People’s Army”? For our most spectacularly generous patreon supporters, in our extra-special, special extra segment, we will discuss an essay in Haaretz called, “Israel's Opposition Needs Sincere Leaders”, by one-time Labor-lion Uzi Baram, a minister throughout Rabin’s second run as Prime Minister, who argues that “the great mistake of the camp opposing the right is that it hasn’t clearly demarcated the 'good' and 'bad' players, and hasn’t fought for its own truth.” Does he have a point? In this final episode of the Conservative Conscience for 2016, Daniel lays bare the truth about the so-called Palestinian cause.  The entire historical, legal, and geographical case for why there is no such thing as a distinct Arab “Palestinian” entity entitled to any land west of the Jordan River is recounted in this long episode.    It is incontrovertibly clear from a legal and historical standpoint that Israel has just as much of a right to exist in its so-called post-1967 borders as it does in its pre-’67 borders.  It is also patently obvious that from a geographical, moral, and security standpoint that anyone advocating a two state solution is implicitly denying Israel’s right to exist in any capacity.  Israel has already surrendered 94% of the land it acquired in a defensive war against its existence – The Sinai Peninsula and Gaza.  Anyone promoting an Arab Muslim state in the remaining 6% that would gut the heart of the tiny Jewish state – especially in light of the fact that Muslims control a land mass 640 times greater than Israel – is either woefully ignorant or supports something much more sinister.    It's time to get the facts straight: there already is an Arab Palestinian state – Jordan.  The two-state solution was carved out in 1922 in the last legally recognized agreement delineating boundaries of nation states. Arabs got 77% of the Mandate for Palestine, which was all the land east of the Jordan River, while Jews got the land to the west of the river.  History doesn’t lie.     Key Quotes: "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people." [PLO official Zahir Muhsein, interview with Dutch newspaper Trouw, March 31, 1977. "The truth is that Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan." [King Hussein, December 1981 interview with A - Nahar Al – Arabi]   “What you call Jordan is actually Palestine.”  [Yassir Arafat, 1974 interview with New Republic]   Show Links: How Republicans can stop Obama’s jihad against Israel Israel’s right to build homes is settled … under international law 1922 Mandate for Palestine UN Charter Article 80 recognizing Israel’s legal right to all the land west of Jordan River San Remo Conference of 1920.
