Chicago R&B singers Carl Thomas, Donell Jones, Dave Hollister announce supergroup called The Chi Three Chicago creatives with deep roots in the city's R&B scene have announced their intention to join forces. Yesssss... I've been waiting for this since the season finale of season 3. This is a story and a set of characters I've become overly attached to from the beginning, so there's no way I couldn't be going crazy thinking about what's going to happen next. Enjoy, people.

The Game Episode 1 - Shame Game   10 years ago this month was The Shame Game.  A silly title for a game that saw no shame apart from the terrible behaviour of the soon to be defunct Rangers players and assistant manager.  But with its notoriety and coming to the fore we thought  we’d kick off the new series with a review of that game.   Here’s how the Celtic Wiki describes it:   As one-side a match against the Huns you'll ever see. Celtic were on top throughout this game, and despite the Huns being able to break well at points, they were simply playing for penalties from early on. With injuries/resting players like Lafferty & Jelavic, the Huns were relying on some rough tactics with heavy tackling on the menu. Luckily, Celtic's pressing on fairer referees has paid off with Murray officiating well and taking to half measures. He allowed around 20-25 mins before dishing out yellow cards, and Whittaker was first to be ordered off with two yellows. Harsh the first card may have been but it wasn't for that challenged alone (he had committed a few bad tackles before hand).   From then on, Celtic took control (in particular in the midfield) however we weren't makign enough of our advantages. Wilson was exceptional and has been on a bit of a goal glut of late (3 goals in 6 games) and he scored with his second chance today just after half-time to send the support into raptures. From then in, there was only one team in it. Rangers had a late burst but their runs were cut short..... and Rangers were out the cup!!!   YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   More important is the rammies that occurred. Diouf was in everyone's' face, with match offs with Brown and then inexcusably with the Celtic bench. He should have been sent off early but the referee was too soft. Next there was a rammy with Mjallby for Djouf in the tunnel at half-time! It was comical.   The unbookable Bhougeira was sent off! Amazing! Daft tackles were the cause, he's scum like Diouf.   Diouf was sent off after the final whistle for not keeping control of his senses (not possible for him). A farce and scumbag.   The home support were in his face and we all laughed. The worse he is on the pitch, the worse his antics are...   Match ended with a spat between Lennon & Ally McCoist (Hun assistant manager). McCoist approaced Lennon in our dugout, Lennon politley held out his hand, then McCoist whispered something in his ear, Lennon retorted, then it blew with some shoves and people jumping in to separate the two. McCoist should be hammered for it.   Anyhow, we won, it's great to be a Celtic.   Crazy: The match has been criticised by the First Minister as a disgrace with head police officer calling for possibly stopping all games v Rangers or play them behind close doors! Absolute joke, total mock outrage.   Enjoy…

Good morning, RVA! It’s 65 °F, and highs today will stay in the mid 80s—a relief from the past month or so. I think we’ll also avoid torrential, continual downpours at least for most of the day. NBC12’s Jim Duncan has a post up about the incredible amount of rain Richmond has seen this summer. This August—which still has 15 days left—is the now the 2nd wettest August ever and the 4th wettest month ever! Also: “It’s notable that since June 1st Richmond has received nearly 23 inches of rain, even with the near drought conditions in early summer. That amount is more than half our typical rain total for an ENTIRE year!” So, yeah, it’s not just you, it has rained a lot.Also, Chesterfieldians, take note: The County has declared emergency water restrictions for residents as “significant flooding caused the temporary shutdown of Chesterfield’s water treatment plant and emergency repairs are needed at the City of Richmond’s Jahnke Road pump station, which supplies water to Chesterfield and portions of Powhatan County. Customers are asked to conserve water for essential use only and immediately stop all irrigation. While emergency restrictions are in place to help reduce demand on the water system, the water is safe to drink.”Water coolerAs of this morning, the Virginia Department of Health reports 937↘️ new positive cases of the coronavirus in the Commonwealthand 0↘️ new deaths as a result of the virus. VDH reports 123↘️ new cases in and around Richmond (Chesterfield: 25, Henrico: 83, and Richmond: 15). Since this pandemic began, 309 people have died in the Richmond region. Today, VCU students head off to their first day of class, and, normally, the first day of fall classes at VCU is one of my favorite days of the year. The Fan and Downtown feels so empty without all of those students hurrying to class and hanging out in pocket parks. Now, though, I just worry about them all and hope they stay safe and virus-free for as long as our institutions of higher learning are open for in-person instruction. That’s not going great for our neighboring states, by the way. UNC has already announced four “clusters” of COVID-19 on campus, which is defined as “five or more cases in close proximity,” and class hasn’t even started yet. They have, however, put together this very informative and public COVID-19 tracking dashboard. I haven’t seen anything like that yet locally, and I think it’d be useful for folks. If you’re interested in the procedures and protocols VCU has put together for their students, you can read through the full list here.The City has set up “nearly 50 locations around the city to pick up disposable surgical face masks free of cost.” Here’s the map of spots, and if you’d like to offer up your institution (some restrictions apply) as a mask distribution location, you can do so using this form.Maybe the aforelinked map could be a useful resource to the assortment of police officers who responded to last night’s Reclamation Teach-In event and apparently weren’t interested in wearing face coverings? I was not there in person, so I don’t know the full details, but these pictures of cops not wearing masks while also disregarding social distance make me feel intensely uncomfortable. I have no idea what the actual guidance is for cops wearing masks while doing their jobs, especially while outside, but dang set an example!Over the weekend some jerks came by and cut down the hand-painted Welcome to Beautiful Marcus-David Peters sign. This was NOT done by the City, the Richmond Police Department, or even the Virginia State Police. The VSP have intentionally left the sign in place previously, and the RPD put out this statement over the weekend: “No city agency was involved - including the RPD. It is illegal to remove signage without permission. Whoever did this may be trying to spark more violence in the City of Richmond.” All signs point to jerks, and, potentially, white supremacist jerks at that.Richmond’s School Board meets today and has a couple of interesting things on their agenda. Make sure you take a look at this PDF updating the Board on the MOU between Richmond Public Schools and the Richmond Police Department. The survey data about staff and student perception of cops in schools (aka School Resource Officers aka SROs) may surprise you. The Board will also continue to work through the reopening plan and will discuss “proposals from the City for support of virtual learning.”The City’s Planning Commission will also meet today to consider Richmond’s own Black Lives Matter mural (PAC 2020–002). The mural would stretch across both lanes of Grace Street between 8th and 9th, right in front of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the entrance to the Capitol. Each letter would be yellow and 24 feet tall. You can see a rendering in this PDF to get a sense of the scale.I haven’t yet wrapped my head around the General Assembly’s special session which starts tomorrow, but Mel Leonor at the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Jeremey Lazarus at the Richmond Free Press have some details on what lawmakers hope to accomplish. They’ve got coronabills and police reform bills to pass, plus probably a bunch of other stuff that seemed like, in the Before Times, it could wait but now maybe shouldn’t. I look forward to all of the brilliant GA watchers to spin up their thoughts and opinions over the next couple of days.Yesssss a 15-story apartment building could pop up on a Monroe Ward surface-level parking lot, Mike Platania at Richmond BizSense reports. Going from zero to 15-stories is a heckuva improvement—it’s an infinity percent increase! The developer specializes in student housing, so I’m not sure that the larger units—some with four bedrooms—are appropriate for families (which is something I’d like to see built more often). But, again, 171 places for people to live in a spot that currently just stores cars. Also, 67 parking spaces for 171 units is…just 0.39 spaces per unit. There will be a transition period in which doctors and health-care workers are vaccinated, but teachers, letter carriers, and police officers are not. We will need better testing then. Today I want to talk about how we finish 2019 strong and it's not about new goals or some new plan....it's about going to where the most powerful information on the planet is that will insure you finish 2019 strong and go into 2020 with momentum. Your future is in your past... I tend to believe we over complicate things. I want to show how Less will give you more as you look at what's next.... 1. Take the time to write down everything that worked really well. Yesssss don't think about it, write it out. See it. Measure it. 2. Now write down everything that didn't work and see it. Now ask yourself these questions. A. Do I need to abandon and apply that freed up time and double down on what has worked ? B. Do I need to gain some further skill sets or knowledge so that it can generate a better results? It's really that simple. And always remember. Don't chase a moving target and find you are actually in avoidance of what is right in front of you that is working, that you need to shift a little bit or abandon

Yesssss! Ze Chermans will kick the tin for up to $127.1 million for Dieselgate class action victims, who own (or owned) the company’s disgraceful, filthy shitheaps. If you’ve been dead from the neck up since about 2015, Dieselgate was, of course, the board-level criminal conspiracy, in which a decision was taken to kill people prematurely in the name of profit, by cheating emissions regulations and pumping up oxides of nitrogen in Volkswagen dung-box diesel exhausts. Oxides of nitrogen kill about 50,000 people annually in Retardistan. If you read the peer-reviewed study in respected academic journal, Environmental Pollution, you’d see they estimated fraudulent Dieselgate emissions causing 45,000 disability-adjusted life-years to be lost, at a cost of $39 billion US dollars (and that’s just in ‘Murica). Dieselgate has now cost Volkswagen more than 30 billion Euros, in total, and several high-level Volkswagen and Audi arseholes have gone to prison. Others, of course, parachuted out onto their wallets, fortuitously to live happily ever after, presumably in a hot tub full of Veuve Cliquot. And high-class hookers. In countries that don’t extradite. And, let’s face it - if you’re going to be in prison, that’s how to do it. Even more of a side-splitter for me: Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda are doing this “without admission of liability”. I ask you: Could they actually harbour some hope against hope of looking any less like morally adrift mother-lovers? In fact, those disingenuous Volkswagen ‘Straya arseholes said, in a statement, that the $40 million (wriggle room) settlement would be a: “...significant step towards fully resolving the diesel lawsuits in Australia.” I guess that’s true - except for the people who became disabled because the excessive NOx gave them some life-limiting cardiovascular disease. But, really, who cares about them? The company droned on, seemingly without end: "The settlement, on a no-admissions basis, concerns five class-action lawsuits covering all affected vehicles in Australia. Volkswagen expects the proceedings will be concluded in 2020." If only Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda cars were as reliable as their corporate bullshit. Here’s my problem with this ‘zero admission of liability’ caper: If the cops kick in your door at 3am, they zip-tie you at gunpoint and tell you they think you really did kill all those children, and the Department of Public Prosecutions agrees, you get two basic options: One: Plead ‘guilty’ and go straight to sentencing. Two: Plead ‘not guilty’ and go to trial, where your guilt (or not) is established. What you specifically don’t get to do, when some dude in a wig says: “How do you plead?” Is get in wig-man’s face and argue: “Maaaate, look, I’m not sayin’ I killed all those schoolgirls, right - but just gimme … I dunno ... 8.7 to 12.7 years, we’ll sort that out, and that’ll be the end of it. I think you’d agree that’d be a significant step towards fully resolving this mutually inconvenient issue.” And yet - that’s kinda what’s happening here.

This is the second time that we get to be a fly on the wall to a coaching session between certified transformative coach John El-Mokadem and his new client Kate who wants coaching around issues in her relationship. Kate believed that past trauma had set her on the course for her current relationship issues but she discovered in this session that the past isn't always how it appears. This episode was a wisdom-bomb-a-minute but here were my absolute faves! Kate's big insight! "I realised that there was never anything wrong. I was always OK, I just thought I wasn't"This is a huge realisation that her past self wasn't broken and that means that the past can't dictate her life in the present or the choices she makes going forward. Yesssss! How do we meet our partner's needs without subjugating our own  needs?John described how the more of his beliefs about needs have dropped away, the less he seems to need on the outside and the more he sees that his needs are already met on the inside. Life doesn't need to be a certain way for him to feel happy. How do we get into a quiet space?John explained how the very act of noticing an icky feeling and realising where it comes from [thought], the more he seem to settle down and start to look into the direction that fresh thought and insight comes from. How do we stop just drifting along in life?Kate's concern is that she needs agency - she needs control over her life and circumstances, John described how he's seen that his happiness doesn't come from illusory control, and his previous attempts at control were making him less happy. The destination that we're all working towards, it's all here in this moment. What about dealing with real life issues like a shortage of money?The more we're coming from insecure thought (life has to be like x, I need to be like y, i need to earn z) all get in the way of allowing success and happiness to flow through us. Life is already being handled, we don't need to make it happen. The more we let go of insecure thought, the more ideas, answers and opportunities that we notice.
