The value you receive from this session is going to be based on your own naivety & cognitive dissonance. So for that reason, we will have people from all over the world hear the financial principles outlined in this session and the information will be processed in different ways by different people. I have one goal in this session. Wake up those that need to be woken up. So you may or may not need to be awakened financially. If that is the case I hope you will forward this session to children, grandchildren, co-workers, and anyone who you feel may benefit from this information. If it helps one person that is off track with their finances get on track financially, then it will be worth my time. Some will see this entire session as doom and gloom. I assure you that is not where I am coming from. Without question, 2023 will be one of the most rewarding, financially of my entire business career. I may not personally earn 5 million dollars, but the success stories that are going to come from our team members will be LEGENDARY. On this week's private team call, I actually asked team members when their commissions go over $100,000 in 2023 to make sure they email me because we are going to have so many, I am not going to be able to keep up with them all. You may not believe me, but they all know I meant it because they are watching their personal incomes and team members grow month after month. What team-building leader in history has ever made such a statement? “None – Never” - would be the correct answer. On this podcast for almost a year, every week We have shared with you dozens of success stories that are happening right now today from team members all over the world, many of whom had never in their life made a significant side gig income, and the majority of these incomes have been created without building a team or enrolling others. For those of you watching on YouTube, you can go here and see just some of the stories we have shared. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkrLm35JqnJ6Dc3hCFOUBs0dzeJHyWqUU There are dozens if not hundreds more you will be hearing about over the coming months. So, NO, this session is not about doom and gloom. Even when the world is falling apart all around us, if you are with the right team, the right opportunity and you are developing the right skill sets and mindsets, LIFE IS GOOD. There's a quote by Mark Patterson, where he said "Inheritance is what you leave to someone, a legacy is what you leave in someone." Meaning there's a big difference, between wanting to do right by our family in creating a financial security net for them and setting them up with the capabilities to make the choices and decisions once they've received that financial gift. We need to prepare them to handle the furnace, because no matter how much we plan all the things life can still hit hard. In leaving a legacy we are preparing the ones we love to make good choices when we are gone, even when the times are tough. Are you leaving a legacy along with your wealth? As Vice-Dean and Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School, Julian Birkinshaw is a world-renowned figure in the world of management. With decades of experience studying organisational innovation, corporate entrepreneurship and strategic leadership, he is a perfect guide to the business landscape of today – one marked by disruption, ‘discontinuous innovation' and existential debates from digital technology to the very purpose of the firm itself. Beyond the academy, Julian is also a popular author, speaker and executive mentor across the world of business. When we say he's a big deal, we mean it – he makes regular appearances in the “Thinker's Fifty” and has received widespread acclaim for books such as Rethinking Management, Becoming a Better Boss, and Fast/Forward. As well as his own ideas on ‘organisational ambidexterity' and ‘adhocracy' in the face of climate change, we also took a hard look at rational strategic planning, remote working, the Great Resignation, and the very future of shareholder capitalism itself. What's in this episode? Professor Birkinshaw's work arbitraging business and academia (yes, in both directions!) How to find – and sculpt - big ideas that truly resonate with leaders on the ground Disruption as the key framework to understand our times… …and why the secret to surviving it might just be to following the ‘dancing elephants' Digital technology as a grand experiment for hierarchical authority The ‘grey rhino' that is climate change: a greater or lesser challenge than COVID for adaptive firms? Will Big Oil cope better in Europe or the US? His view on the purpose vs. profits debate – and the Unilever story we can't stop talking about Where he would head out into the world, as a purpose-first MBA graduating today Motivation, micromanagement and the Great Resignation Organisational ambidexterity – what it is and why it matters Thinking through global climate institutions as ‘adhocracies' "…take the Fortune 500 from last year and guess how many of that Fortune 500 did not exist in any form 25 years ago at the beginning of the Internet revolution. And most people, when I ask that question, they say, oh, maybe it was 100 or 200. Some people say maybe it was 300….Only 17 of the Fortune 500 are completely new. And of course, it's Facebook. It's it's Amazon, it's Google. It's Netflix. I mean, Tesla, you can name half of those even without thinking about it.…Most people fixate on the world's being disrupted…" "…You've got to be resilient to very short term shocks covered in a global financial financial crisis where the effect is felt within weeks. You've got to be resilient to the stuff which takes, you know, months, If not years to work through. And certainly digitization is one… and then you've got to be resilient to the things which take decades to work their way through, which, of course, is climate change. …And and we sometimes call the first one a black swan event… the thing that you kind of didn't foresee. And then suddenly it's there and and you think, oh, my gosh, why didn't we think of that? Then you've got the other end. You've got climate change, which sometimes is called a gray rhino. And the metaphor there is, this thing is coming at you, it's coming at you. You can see it a long way off. No one needs to predict this. It's happening. And yet, because it's a long way off for a long time, you actually just sort of, you know, say, yeah, I can see it's coming… …And then and then suddenly you've actually got to act…climate change is in some ways the hardest. I mean, everybody found COVID difficult, but the point is, there was never any ambiguity about what needed to be done… but the climate crisis: the question is, is when do you act, not do you act…?” References: https://www.london.edu/faculty-and-research/faculty-profiles/b/birkinshaw-j https://julianbirkinshaw.com Article from HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW: https://hbr.org/2014/05/beware-the-next-big-thing/ Conversations on Climate is a podcast produced by United Renewables in association with the London Business School Energy Alumni Club. By Adam Turteltaub These are different times. We all know that we are living in them, and that calls for different thinking. But, what does that mean? To help answer that question we spoke with UK-based Jane Mitchell (LinkedIn), an independent consultant who specializes in culture, ethics, values and leadership and Philip Winterburn, Ethics Principal at OneTrust. As they look around at the business world they see that leaders are struggling to understand what the impact of the pandemic has been on the people that work for and with them. Given how much people have been affected by the last few years, there is a clear need to focus on culture, which Jane describes as the “corporate immune system”. It can be either an asset or liability when it comes to both preventing wrongdoing and managing the now significantly more difficult task of recruiting and retaining talent. Meanwhile, outside the organization, attitudes towards purchasing are starting to change. Customers, whether consumers or other businesses, want to know where your goods are made, under what conditions and how the raw material are sourced. If they do not like what they see, they are turning away. So what makes for a healthy organization in this environment? For one, broadening the conversation beyond the numbers and looking at how the organization can be smart, resilient and sustainable. That will be especially true over the next few yeas when a rocky, unpredictable economy is predicted. In terms of leadership, it calls for CEOs who truly understand what is going on, welcome the truth and encourage people to speak up and openly disagree. It also calls on CEOs to recognize that people want to please them and may be painting too rosy a picture. Listen in to hear more about how compliance and ethics teams can thrive and lead during these uncertain times.

If you're a leader, no matter what industry you're in, you're in the people development business. That mindset is critically important when you're guiding a team through times of change, fear and uncertainty. Today, we're discussing one of my favorite books of 2022, “10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times” by Tom Ziglar (son of iconic motivational speaker Zig Ziglar — one of the greats). Tom Ziglar's latest book “10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times” shares that, while the virtues have not changed, people's priorities in life have shifted and become more intentional and foundational during, and since, the pandemic. In this episode of The Teamwork Advantage, Tom shares his research and discusses how leaders need to adapt in today's ever changing time of disruption.Tom talks about a few of the virtues that top leaders possess today, like selflessness. One thing that resonated with me during the interview was that gratitude and fear cannot operate in the same space. We need to start each day in a place of gratefulness.Tom also shares his step-by-step approach to the perfect start to every day that, when followed, will set you up for success.

#992: Respect is generally seen as something earned or demanded. In civilian life we tend to give respect to those we deem have earned it from us or we begrudgingly give it to those we feel beholden to, such as a boss. We depict the military as those in authority demanding respect regardless of anything. Is it possible and relevant to give everyone respect no matter what, and is this possible or feasible? Tom Ziglar showcases respect as the third virtue in his book, 10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times, and once again we look at a virtue as not only the seemingly right thing to do, but the most profitable. In this episode we unpack what giving respect to anyone and everyone looks like, and what it doesn't. I think you'll find it frees you to healthfully and proudly give everyone respect in a way that benefits you both. It is not a zero-sum game, but a win-win you can use to elevate your social credit and personal success.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
#990: How to be selfless for personal gain sounds like click bait, which is why we take on this topic that Tom Ziglar lists as the 2nd virtue in his book, 10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times. I wanted to confront this issue as I feel we can miss the value of it in our lives because the concept is a bit preposterous. The Bible talks about dying to self. Does anyone feel they have accomplished this? When something feels unreachable we tend to just abandon it. Selfless is the opposite of selfish, but it doesn't mean it's without self interest. If I have food and you don't and I keep mine for myself, that's pure selfishness. If I give some or even all of my food to you we'd say this is selfless. But look at the word. Selfless is less self. Not zero self. Giving my food to you makes me feel good about myself. I still get benefit. Maybe even more. And more often than not our selfless acts get noticed and what goes around comes around. The point is understanding how being selfless serves others, and us. And it's ok that you aren't in fact totally dead to yourself. If you read the Bible contextually you'll see testimony that dying to self may speak more to dying to your lower, base, selfish self, and being born again to your higher, best self. There is still a self there and that is ok. This podcast is presented by Ziglar, the most trusted name in personal and professional development. http://www.sherylkline.com/blogIn case you missed my LIVE interview with the amazing Allison Metcalfe (Chief Revenue Officer, Demandbase), here are a few of the wisdom gems she shared: A part of the growth mindset is positioning yourself correctly before you are about to take on something challenging.People don't want to stay in companies that tolerate high performing bad actors. It's a tremendous business risk.We need to evaluate if the person is coachable. If they're coachable, then it's probably worth the investment. If they are not coachable, then you have to have an exit conversation. If leaders don't have faith in their team, then team members will find it hard to believe. So it's critical, that you are aware of how your leaders position things to their teams, and how people are feeling because it's a business risk, you will lose revenue. The concept of balance is really important, but also diversity of how you're spending your time.Stop being glued to your computer from nine to five, take breaks, go for a walk, do something else. You have to be flexible during these times. It's okay to hit that wall. And take some time for yourself. It's okay not to always feel productive especially when going through times of change. As a leader it's important to give them the freedom to act and if they don't have the best day today, they'll do better tomorrow. The most important piece of being able to keep people productive is making sure that they understand that it's possible to be flexible. It's important to throw in some fun activities in weekly meetings and calls to keep morale high and to destress.
