Andy and Brendan return on a Victory Monday to recap a bevy of fall golf tournaments this weekend. Andy is fired up about Caleb Williams and the Bears' big win against the lowly Panthers during the Swag Sports Minute, while Brendan is also claiming a Victory Monday as his hometown Commanders beat another unnamed NFL team on Sunday afternoon. The Golf Minutes begin at the Dunhill Links, where friend of the show Nicolas Colsaerts finished second to Tyrrell Hatton. They discuss a strong weekend from Colsaerts, Tyrrell Hatton's development as a player, and his current standing in the game, and whether Pro-Ams should be barred from existence. Big Shot Bob MacIntyre adds some fun to this episode with his idea to "blow up" the Road Hole at the Old Course, which Andy and Brendan debate the merits of. Their attention then turns to the Sanderson, which announced that its title sponsor will return for one more round in 2025! The two wonder if the Country Club of Jackson is the most generic golf course on the PGA Tour, lament about the Golf Channel coverage of the Sunday finish, and decide that players should only get two unsuccessful TIO-related challenges per event after Beau Hossler's repeated calls for a drop on Sunday. The Korn Ferry Tour finals are up next for a recap, with some late drama around the Top 30 in the seasonlong race with Alistair Docherty being pushed out of the promotion zone on the final putt of the tournament. Andy and Brendan then touch on the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, where winner Wenyi Ding has decided to take his DP World Tour card rather than retain his amateur status. Producer PJ then sums up a busy Furyk & Friends weekend, with a playoff finish, Brad Dalke birdies on the broadcast, and a Tim Herron technological innovation for the ages.

Rocky is one of the greatest storytellers in sports and has been a frequent and favorite guest over the years. He first joined me way back in 2011, and this marks the 13th time I've had the honor of chatting with him. We'll dive into the Steelers' season, revisit his early days in Pittsburgh, and hear some fantastic stories about playing alongside Terry Bradshaw. Rocky also shares his thoughts on the toughest moments he's had on the football field, my favorite Chuck Noll story, and his experiences playing in some of his favorite Pro-Ams. Following Rocky, we get our monthly visit from The Confidence Doctor, Dr. Bob Winters. This time, Doc talks about how to create a "Personal Zone of Control" and the importance of managing our expectations rather than trying to meet the expectations of others and creating a personal playing space. Leads to a convo about the Australian Open - stand alone vs mixed. We've discussed it previously, the guys not a fan of the mixed format. Mark has said for years that a challenge with golf coverage in Australia is the lack of camera's available, and this is one reason why mixed tournaments are hard to cover effectively. He outlines his breakthrough moment in the 1992 Open and how it was captured on camera, a game changer for him financially as a young player, but this doesn't happen enough now.We discuss Jeff Guan's horrific eye injury, and what it may or may not mean for his career. We're all thinking of him, the prognosis is yet to become clear. And we remember the 10-year anniversary of, in hindsight, a highly amusing occurrence to do with golf and Mark Allen. Between late 2019-22 George would float about the mini tours and make occasional Challenge Tour starts on invites. In 2022 George would gain more start on the Challenge Tour via invites and would make the weekend a good few times with a highest finish of T34th. Fast forward to 2023 & George would fully commit to the Clutch Pro Tour playing the full 17 events having 7 Top 10's & finished 1st in the Order of Merit rankings to gain a Full Challenge Tour card for 2024.   George is from Buxton in Derbyshire which is the home of Buxton Water and played Golf competitively at 12 years old. Watch out for George Bloor in 2024 folks. A player with a great swing & a great attitude. Kevin Durant drama keeps unfolding like a good television series, and Corey Robinson and Kurt Helin of NBC Sports get into all of it: Durant's "the coach and GM or me" ultimatum to owner Joe Tsai, the stalled out negotiations, and how long things can drag out. Then the duo disagrees on what this says about Durant's legacy as a guy who puts the game first — did he tear down Brooklyn and ask out, or is this him wanting to compete and realizing he can't do it in Brooklyn? After that the conversation turns to the Christmas Day games, and the Bucks vs. Celtics matchup in particular. From there the discussion evolves into Dejounte Murray's call for more NBA players to do Pro-Ams and give fans who can't afford an NBA ticket the chance to see them play up close. That can be a great thing for hard-core hoops fans.

It is the lull of the NBA offseason as players around the league are participating in local Pro-Ams, playing for their home countries' national teams, or meeting up with other pros to get some run in at a random gym somewhere and having the highlights uploaded to Twitter. We are anxiously awaiting the release of the 2022-23 NBA regular season schedule so we can all bellyache over the number of back-to-backs the Wolves will play in and the lack of national TV shine the franchise will undoubtedly receive. Regardless of what exactly the players are up to, it remains true that there is nearly no substantial news to break down on your favorite franchise, the Minnesota Timberwolves. So, with training camp still well over a month away, the hosts of the Bleav in Timberwolves Podcast, Brendan Hedtke and Doug West, decided it was time to turn to the fans and answer their questions. On the latest episode, Brendan and Doug answer a variety of questions from you, the listeners. The duo goes deep into answering questions like: How many All-Star selections will the Wolves have? What All-NBA team does Anthony Edwards end up on? Will Karl-Anthony Towns be able to keep up with the elite power forwards in today's NBA? What can we reasonably expect from Jaden McDaniels in year 3? Does the bench have enough spacing? How much time will the team need to gel on the court? On this edition of Next on the Tee I'm joined by PGA Tour Rules Official Stephen Cox, 8 Time Women's Canadian Long Drive Champion Lisa "Longball" Vlooswyk, and World Renowned Golf Club Designer Jesse Ortiz. Stephen Cox shared his thoughts on the rules changes set to go into play in January and the difficulty they have calling a violation on players for rules they know will change in just a few months. He also talked about their responsibility in setting up the courses each week, having to tell NBC they had to move a TV tower, and the impact moving The Players Championship from May to March will have on the course, especially if they have a colder than normal winter in northern Florida. Lisa "Longball" Vlooswyk talked about what it's like playing in Pro-Ams and corporate outings and the reaction men have when she booms one off the tee. She also talked about the work she's doing as the Canadian Lead for Women's Golf Day, helping to bring more women into the game. Lisa also shared some tips to help us add distance off the tee. Jesse Ortiz talked about his low profile, tri-metal fairway woods that he designed for Orlimar Golf, which took the golf industry by storm back in the late 1990's. We also discussed the great fairway woods and hybrids he designed for Bobby Jones Golf and what drove him to leave the golf industry after 50 years.

552: Bobby Clampett was the Low Amateur at the 1979 US Open and the 1980 Masters. He played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour in addition to being a network golf announcer/commentator. After playing with over 1,000 amateurs at more than 220 Pro-Ams he noticed something about their divots that separates high handicappers from Tour players. “...the Touring pros had a swing bottom approximately 4 inches in front of the center of the golf ball. For every inch amateurs were behind that 4 inches, equated to, on average, 4 strokes per inch!" In this week’s episode Bobby talks with host Fred Greene about his history, greatest influences, the Golfing Machine, and his effective method of instruction called The Impact Zone.      Bobby is going to be giving a “Golfing In The Zone Clinic” at Michael Murphy’s Golf In The Kingdom Marathon charity event on September 11-12, 2016 at Peacock Gap in San Rafael, CA.
