On this week's episode of The Game Informer Show podcast, we do a lot of discussing. In fact, we should discuss this. The show starts with Joe Juba and Andy Reiner as we discuss the recent release of the final episode of Life is Strange 2. Bonus discussion about what we think about episodic gaming.   Next, we do something stupid. Joe Juba, Brian Shea, Ben Reeves, and Alex Stadnik all throw in a dollar to take part in a competition to predict who will take home the win at The Game Awards that happens tonight (meaning, most of you will listen to this segment already knowing what wins what, which means you can mock our absurd reasoning – and what could be more fun than that?) I'll do the math for you and tell you who won on next week's show (though I'm guessing some intrepid listener will be eager to let us know who was victorious). For part five of our Game of the Year chats, where I ask guests what games are defining their year, I am joined by Joe Juba and the fall intern class members, Alex Stadnik (@Studnik76) and Nick Straub (@Ncstraub). Also this is the moment I get a busy Leo Vader to join the show. This segment will run the rest of this year, as we bring in editors (and guests) every week to talk about games that have impacted their year in the lead-up to Game Informer's Top 50 of 2019. Next week, will be the final installment, so make sure you come back for the finale! Thanks for listening! And all of the sudden it is December. You should give the gift of telling all your friends how much you love The Game Informer Show and sharing it with high praise on all your social media networks ... or at least that is what I think. On this week's episode of The Game Informer Show podcast, we explore a wide variety of subjects, so every segment has a surprise. The show starts with Ben Reeves, Jeff Cork, and Matt Miller as we discuss our PlayStation 25th Anniversary cover story, Darksiders Genesis, and Arise: A Simple Story. The entire show is produced by the man in the box, Alex Stadnik (someone asked for his Twitter handle too so you can find it here).  Next, we dive head first into community emails. Joined by Matt Miller, Joe Juba, and Andy Reiner for this week's discussion, which is highlighted by the theme of us becoming the "Lords of Gaming" and making proclamations as to how we would rule. Good times. For part four of our Game of the Year chats, where I ask guests what games are defining their year, I am joined by Andy Reiner and special guests from The Video Game History Foundation, Frank Cifaldi, and Kelsey Lewin. This segment will run the rest of this year, as we bring in editors (and guests) every week to talk about games that have impacted their year in the lead-up to Game Informer's Top 50 of 2019.  And finally, we chat with Alex Hutchinson, co-founder and creative director at Typhoon Studios. We talk about his history (spoiler alert: he was creative director for Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 4 among many others) and their upcoming release Journey to the Savage Planet. Always entertaining to chat with Alex. Thanks for listening! The shooter MMO from Trion has had some launch pangs, particularly with its console versions, but we have some good things to say about it too. GI's Andy Reiner and Mike Futter, who have had the ill fortune to (attempt to) play the Xbox 360 version, join host Adam Biessener and his perspective from the vastly superior PC incarnation of the game. As frustrating as the lag and crashing have been for the poor Xbox players, they're not quite as full of anger and hate as you might imagine. The bumper music in this episode is the Theme from Defiance by the excellent Bear McCreary (of Battlestar Galactica fame, among others). Special thanks to Trion Worlds for supplying the music. [Note: I said I'd double-check to see if episode missions are in fact removed from the game after the episode in question airs, and it appears that that is indeed the case.
