How Can I Lower My Triglycerides? “Going to the doctor for your fasting lipid panel results can be an exercise in confusion. You will get numbers for your total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (“unhealthy” cholesterol), HDL cholesterol (“healthy” cholesterol), and triglycerides. Although the major emphasis in treating abnormal lipid panel results focuses on getting LDL cholesterol below a certain level, your doctor might also make recommendations about your HDL and triglycerides.” Listen to today's episode for details, written by Thomas Campbell, MD at NutritionStudies.org  #vegan #plantbased #plantbasedbriefing #lipid #triglycerides #cholesterol #cvd #cardiovasculardisease #lipidpanel   ======================== Original post: https://nutritionstudies.org/lower-triglycerides/  ========================== Related Episodes: 861: Eat Quinoa and Lower Triglycerides? https://plantbasedbriefing.libsyn.com/861-eat-quinoa-and-lower-triglycerides-by-dr-michael-greger-at-nutritionfactsorg  Related Episodes: use search feature at https://www.plantbasedbriefing.com/episodes-search     Search for cholesterol, heart disease ========================= The T. On 24th April 1644, the Chongzhen Emperor walked to Meishan, a small hill in present-day Jingshan Park and hanged himself on a tree, bringing a sudden end to the Ming dynasty. The writing had been on the wall for him for some time. By 1640, the unfortunate emperor faced multiple pandemics, an invasion, two internal rebellions, persistent drought, widespread famine, and an economic collapse. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain how the fifth son of a low ranking concubine ultimately became emperor; reveal wythe Chongzhen Emperor used to sleep clutching a sword at night; and reveal why in medieval China, the gods could grant a monarch a mandate to rule, but they could also take it away if they felt like it…  Further Reading: • ‘A death on Coal Hill' (The China Project, 2022): https://thechinaproject.com/2022/04/20/a-death-on-coal-hill/  • ‘The Fall of the Ming Dynasty in China in 1644' (Thought Co., 2018): https://www.thoughtco.com/the-fall-of-the-ming-dynasty-3956385  • ‘Why did Ming explode into chaos? The Psychological Toll of Living with Preventable Disease Although we all know on some level that the state of health in the US is not in a good place, it can be difficult to quantify exactly what that looks like. There are multiple layers of failure, and some are more immediately apparent than others. The physical challenges of living with disease are the most obvious. The financial repercussions are also widely accepted; most people know that our healthcare system is overburdened, if not outright broken, and that medical expenses are a top cause of bankruptcy. The US House of Representatives has passed a landmark bill that could see TikTok effectively banned. It would give the social media giant's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, six months to sell its controlling stake or the app would face blocks in the US. Supporters of the bill say the app's links with China make it a national security risk. Opponents argue that tens of millions of Americans rely on the platform and that the real problem isn't with TikTok, but with a lack of regulation of social media and technology giants in general. So, what should the United States do about TikTok? Celia Hatton is joined by a panel of expert guests.Jeremy Goldkorn - Editorial Fellow at the Asia Society's ChinaFile website, founding editor-in-chief of The China Project and cofounder of the Sinica Podcast.
