The movie kicks off with this guy selling snow globes on the street, but no one cares. We're all just too busy! Beatrice walks by on the phone, and a car splashes her boots with water. Ugh. She goes to meet her best friend, Emilia, for coffee to talk about their staycation Friendsmas. Emilia comes up with an idea—instead of a staycation, they go to Christmasland. It's a town fully devoted to Christmas, including the North Pole Inn. They make every guest feel like family. Emilia is pumped. Beatrice is less than thrilled and says, “Nah, hard pass.” But after nagging her about it a ton of times, she finally gives in.Right as they get to the Christmasland: 5 Miles sign, they get a flat. Emilia is convinced this is all part of the magic of Christmasland. Right on cue, a hot guy pulls up in a truck and offers to give them a ride. His name is Ethan, and Emilia is pumped to get into this stranger's truck. He brings them to the magical inn, where they are handed Christmas PJs and Christmas cookies.Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHGetJoni.com - for 15% off your subscriptionFor King + Country's A Drummer Boy Christmas LIVE - in theaters December 5-9, 2024! The next day, Ethan walks with Beatrice around the town and explains that Christmasland is a place where reality and fantasy blur, so she should just roll with it. She's like, “I'm a journalist, but I'll do my best to roll with it.”Meanwhile, Emilia goes to an eggnog tasting and meets a guy named Porter, who is also visiting—and who could be her dad. But he's perfect… maybe too perfect. So this Friendsmas turns into the two of them just hanging out with boys. But Beatrice starts to realize that everything with Ethan has been hitting all the beats of a Christmas romcom. Now she's like, “Is any of this real?” They even have a couple of almost-kisses. But there's one trope that hasn't happened yet… the ex-girlfriend. Enter Scarlett, Ethan's ex, who suddenly comes into town.Beatrice is finally like, “Okay, you've taken this skit too far.” Ethan is like, “I don't know what you're talking about… all of this was real.” But Beatrice isn't having it and leaves. Finally, Ethan explains to her that he's in charge of the Grinches but that he loves her. And Porter? He's real, too. And somehow, Beatrice is just totes fine with it all, and they kiss.

Poltergeist TV static. We've got one more Halloween-ish movie ambience before I start putting up all the Christmas lights. So get ready for eight hours of eerie but smooth TV static as we're visiting the TV Static scene from Poltergeist(1982). And as far as TV static goes, the Poltergeist static is super chill (minus the disembodied voices). Growing up, the static I was used to on our television was harsh and tinny. I do want to say that, as usual, there will be no jump scares or anything overly terrifying. This is a place for relaxation and tuning out a mad, mad world. This week's episode is a love letter to a favorite scary movie that somehow made televisions in the bedroom a faux pas (not to mention ripping one's face off in a vanity—don't do that). TV static is what us fogies had to deal with during the overnight hours of cable and local television. In the old days, channels would go dark for the night; it was called sign-off. Sign-off would typically be the Star Spangled Banner with beauty shots of whatever town the TV station was based out of (although in Georgia, Ray Charles, Georgia was the far superior sign-off music). I'm assuming the Freelings went to bed watching Carson and inadvertently left open a humming static portal to the other side. The disturbed dead could apparently communicate and manifest ghostly hands from the humming static. And spoilers, this is because the dead are in the front and back yard. Lying just below the new construction of their cookie-cutter suburban community. “YOU SON OF A *****, YOU MOVED THE CEMETERY, BUT YOU LEFT THE BODIES, DIDNCHA!” Hope y'all have a safe and happy Halloween, and see you on the otherside in Christmasland.
Christmasland producer David Keefe responds to concerns we heard from a restaurant owner in Mahone Bay, who said shooting for the holiday film was bad for business. David talks about some of the hiccups with communication and power use, and how he's making things right.
The cast and crew of Christmasland recently filmed in the town of Mahone Bay. Business fronts were decked out in lights and fake snow for the production. A local restaurant owner explains why some business owners were left feeling less than holly jolly about the whole experience.

The Fantasy Daydreamers get news of a secret new land called Chrsitmasland(2:20). They start frolicking in the snow and sit in to watch people experience yuletide joy(13:45). Last episode before the holidays and I'm drinking my troubles away as I talk with you. I discuss my feelings about the holiday season and how I feel like an alien lost in Christmasland. I verbally try to navigate through the weight of anxiety that rests on my chest every year around this time and then I dive into the mailbag for questions and stories about resolutions, being a better person, my newfound respect for the Beatles and much more. We wrap up with a story that I probably wouldn't share if not for the white russians in my belly about something that happened to me recently that I can't quite explain. You can leave me an anonymous message about ANYTHING by clicking on the link pinned to the top of the shows social media pages. Alright Fantoines, we are back with the man himself, Jonathan Antoine. Jonathan is an amazing opera singer, but an even more amazing guy to talk to. We sit down with Jon for the second time to clown around, have him answer some ridiculous questions, and talk about his upcoming Christmasland tour and Platinum edition album release. Once again, we had an absolute blast with Jonathan, and already cant wait to have him on again. Check it out! We also get insight into how much Mike loves eggnog, look into Scott's neurotic notes, and play a game where we learn about what a liberal or conservative Thanksgiving dinner looks like. Have a listen!
On this episode the three bro's review Wraith: Welcome to Christmasland. Written by Joe Hill with Art by Charles Paul Wilson III. WARNING: We know that there are some listeners who listen with their kids and we just wanted to give you a heads up. There is some very adult and disturbing subject matter in this book that made for some awkward discussion and might make for difficult listening with the younger members of the family.

In March of 2020, we were getting ready to record our first episode of this podcast. We all got together in our planned recording space and cut the trailer. … Then COVID happened, and that entire plan went into the garbage along with concerts, vacations and sending kids to school. But as the year went on and we figured out online gaming and recording, the podcast and our games took off. 2020 was an “interesting” year for everyone. But if you had access to a computer and some friends, it was a pretty great time to be gaming online. For a lot of us, it was our first time playing on virtual tabletops, and that blossomed into more gaming than we've ever done before. For some people, 2020 was a quarantine lockdown. For us, it was a year in the lab doing intensive DMing and podcasting. This episode of Lucky Paper Radio covers a range of topics all surrounding the importance of context in cube design and card evaluation. To start, Andy and Anthony do a very spooky pack 1, pick 1 from listener Stephen's seasonally appropriate Innistrad Cube. They go on to discuss a theoretical Christmasland plane and answer a question from listener Adam about including cards of varying power levels in a cube list. Throughout this conversation, they go in depth about the kinds of cards that scale with the power level of an environment and the kinds that do not, the interplay between synergistic decks and individual, non-synergistic cards with a lot of raw power, Andy's recent guest appearance on Jbro's stream, the Zendikar Rising and affiliated updates to Andy's cube, and how our hosts have some overlapping cards that are included in both of their cubes even though they differ dramatically in power level. How is that possible? Witchcraft! Discussed in this episode: The Magic Multiverse Project Chateau Cube Jbro on Twitch Andy's ZNR Cube Update You can find the hosts' primary Cubes on Cube Cobra: Andy's “Bun Magic” Cube Anthony's “Regular” Cube If you have a question for the show, or want us to do a pack 1, pick 1 from your cube, email us at mail@luckypaper.co. This episode we dig into the 7th installment of NOS4A2 on AMC and get rewarded by being able to witness Potato Face's good day! Join us on our long, frequently interrupted and confusing ride to Christmasland! The post CRHS – NOS4A2 Episode 7 appeared first on Superficial Gallery.
This week I was terrified and saddened by When They See Us (03:56), Acted Up on Pose (12:46), welcomed the black mama realness on Big Little Lies (16:46), wanted to whoop then hug all the kids on Euphoria (27:43), wanted to cut another pinky off on The Handmaids Tale (34:51), guessed who done it on Games People Play (38:03), left Christmasland behind on NOS4A2 (39:16), questioned sexuality in virtual space on Black Mirror (44:46), and shamed Reagan on Southern Charm NOLA (48:59). 02:50 Watch & Repeat 38:00 Better Off Binged 50:56 TBTV picks this week
We're hopping in a 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith and driving to Christmasland so that we can cover the first three episodes of AMC's underwhelming adaptation of Joe Hill's (aka Stephen King's son) exceptional novel NOS4A2 (that's pronounced "nosferatu" for the uninitiated). Why would you stretch 100 of the novel's 700 pages into a 10-episode prequel season? Does anyone care about Vic (Ashleigh Cummings) and her shitty parents? No? That's pretty bad when she's supposed to be the protagonist of the show! It's not all bad, though. Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto) is proving to be a formidable foe and a unique Hocus Pocus-y villain. The pointy-toothed demon children are suitable creepy. And expect lots of comparisons to the book from Trace and a few "I didn't read the book so I don't care" reactions from Joe!Will this show get better as the season goes on? We don't know, but we can't say we're dying to find out.For the full episode, subscribe to our Patreon page today! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Manx is a supernatural villain who feeds off the souls of children and then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland -- a twisted place of Manx's imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims -- without losing her mind or falling victim to him. When They See Us (Netflix)Created, written and directed by Ava DuVernay, this series exposes the breakdown of the U.S. criminal justice system during the Central Park Five case. What's this, what's this? Some trifles for your brain? What's this? We promise they aren't lame. What's this? These are the thirteen things, you are not dreaming, wake up Jack, they're here not there. What's this? In 2001, Walt Disney Pictures began to consider producing a sequel, but rather than using stop motion, they wanted to use computer animation. Tim Burton convinced Disney to drop the idea, as he was very protective of keeping the film's purity intact. Tim Burton has said the original poem was inspired after seeing Halloween merchandise display in a store being taken down and replaced by a Christmas display. The juxtaposition of ghouls and goblins with Santa and his reindeer sparked his imagination. Composer Danny Elfman found writing Nightmare's 10 songs as "one of the easiest jobs I've ever had. I had a lot in common with Jack Skellington." It took a group of around 100 people three years to complete this movie. For one second of film, up to 12 stop-motion moves had to be made. It is stated in "The Making of..." book that the most difficult shot to film in the entire movie is the shot in which Jack is reaching for the doorknob to Christmasland. Viewers can see the perfect surround reflection of the forest around Jack in the background. Patrick Stewart did the original introduction for the movie, which can be heard on the film's soundtrack. According to Director Henry Selick, Vincent Price was originally cast as Santa Claus. However, after the death of Price's wife, his own health began to fail and his voice performance was very frail and weak. The tracks were deemed unusable, which led to the role being recast. There is something of a controversy over exactly who has the rights to call the story and film their own. Henry Selick is the director and spent more time on the set and production than Tim Burton. However Burton has often claimed he is the owner of the story as it was all his idea. He wrote the original poem and most of the script, created the characters, served as a producer, and even wanted to direct but was simply too busy at the time to do so. Burton found production somewhat difficult because he was directing "Batman Returns" and in pre-production of "Ed Wood." In the extended ending to the film, many years later, Santa Claus returns to Halloween Town to visit Jack, and finds that he has about four or five skeleton children. In the song, "This is Halloween," the lyrics "... tender lumplings everywhere..." refers to "Tender Lumplings," a song done by composer Danny Elfman when he was with Oingo Boingo. Danny Elfman signed on to provide Jack Skellington's singing voice because Chris Sarandon readily stated he was a poor singer. There are three shots in the entire film that were filmed at normal speed (24fps), one is the opening overhead shot of the trees in the forest, the fog coming out of the fountain and the other is the bugs falling into the molten pit in Oogie Boogie's lair. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman experienced "creative differences" during filming. For this reason, Burton chose Howard Shore to write the film score of Ed Wood. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) PG | 1h 16min | Animation, Family, Fantasy | 29 October 1993 (USA) Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion. In this episode Katie (from the Appetite for Love episode) returns and talks with Megan about Christmasland. They do their best to summarize the rather boring 2015 holiday movie. Hopefully, our non-linear representation gives this episode a liveliness that this movie so terribly lacked (in other words we don't talk about the plot in any sort of order). Also, we're tired it's a Monday give us a break!
