After Suits became a surprise streaming hit a couple of years back, of course NBCUniversal couldn't resist going back to the well, and that's how we got the spinoff Suits LA. Is it facing contempt charges? Kari Race returns to talk about it. Around The Dial takes us through The Baldwins, Ladies & Gentlemen...50 Years Of SNL Music, Dear Child, America Undercover and A Thousand Blows. Kari makes the case for inducting an episode of Kroll Show into The Canon. Then, after naming the week's Winner and Loser, it's on to a Game Time that could spell doom for some. October 14, 2024 In this week's episode I begin to talk about my experience on the Camino de Santiago in Spain and some of the aha's I discovered along the way! The biggest and most surprising was joy! We will walk through what joy is and reflect on what keeps us from experiencing joy in our lives. Our listening portion: Dear Child of God, you are loved with a love that nothing can shake, a love that loved you long before you were created, a love that will be there long after everything has disappeared. You are precious, with a preciousness that is totally quite immeasurable. And God wants you to be like God. Filled with life and goodness and laughter—and joy. God, who is forever pouring out God's whole being from all eternity, wants you to flourish. God wants you to be filled with joy and excitement and ever longing to be able to find what is so beautiful in God's creation: the compassion of so many, the caring, the sharing. And God says, Please, my child, help me. Help me to spread love and laughter and joy and compassion. And you know what, my child? As you do this—hey, presto—you discover joy. Joy, which you had not sought, comes as the gift, as almost the reward for this non-self-regarding caring for others. Archbishop Desmund Tutu, The Book of Joy

The favour of God takes you to places and events where money, possessions, hard work and your strength can never take you to. There are times in the calendar of God when He steps in to favour His children. In such situations your days will never be the same. The word of God tells us that there is a time when God shows favour to His children. This is what the Lord says: “In the time of my favour I will answer you” (Isaiah 49:8). Isaiah 61:2 talks about “the year of the Lord's favour.” Psalm 102:13 says, “You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favour to her; the appointed time has come.” In Psalm 5:12 we read “For surely O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.” Without the favour of God, we will find it difficult to make it in our society where wickedness and corruption abound. Dear Child of God, one touch of God's favour will turn everything around in your life.
What's up everyone!! It's been a minute, but we're back with a slew of things to talk about, including the films Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Oppenheimer, and the old school Sam Raimi classic Darkman!!We review a few new shows on Netflix adapted from Harlan Cobens best selling novels- Dear Child and Fool Me Once. Holy shit they're good!! We also talk about the new Dave Chappelle stand up special - Dreamers, which delivers some pretty funny, but hard jokes!! We switched it up a little this time, starting with a Jesus Calling, and talking about scripture from Psalm 88, and how even at our lowest, it's ok to feel that way! Gods always by our side!!! And as usual, we play out to a featured artist, this time the Dirty Heads with their song End of the World! Give us a listen! Tell us what you think!!!
In this episode of The TruVue Podcast, we talk about Netflix's Dear Child. Did Papa Raise A Fool? Let us know what you think in the comments below! Lena lives in complete isolation together with the two children Hannah and Jonathan in a highly secured home. They eat their meals, go to the toilet and to bed at precisely prescribed times. As soon as he enters the room, they line up to show their hands. They obey to everything he says. Until the young woman manages to escape. After a near fatal car accident, she is hospitalized, accompanied by Hannah. But the true extent of this nightmare is revealed with the arrival of Lena's parents at the hospital the same night. They have been desperately searching for their missing daughter for almost 13 years.—Isabel Kleefeld When we watched Netflix's Dear Child, we had a lot to talk about. Did Papa Raise A Fool or Nah? This week the guys cover Ahsoka, A swath of A24 horror films, Several '80s movies, Dear Child, and more! Kevin had a lot of time on his hands with the week off and he seemingly watched everything under the sun. He kicks off the show talking about the horror classic, Rosemary's Baby. Oddly enough, as it will eventually lead into talk about other A24 films, but Rosermary's Baby has a very modern day A24 feel to it. Next up the guys jump into Ahsoka, primarily episode 5 and all of the deep history it brings in. They talk about the redemption of Hayden Christensen as Anakin and what this all means for the show now and going forward. Next up, Kevin goes into his A24 rant talking about several A24 modern classics such as, The WItch, Men, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Saint Maud, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Under the Skin For once he makes it relatively brief, despite all the content and gets the ball back to Andrew to dicuss the first season of Foundation, which we are hoping to have a full episod on in the next few weeks! The guys then finish up with a quick list of what's to come and then finish with an old school PSA on how men should be better. As always, thank you for watching. Christian Brother, Christian Sister, Dear Child of God- This is a message of deliverance.--If you have been saved by the grace of God, he has forgiven you. If you have experienced a new birth spiritually by his power, he has forgiven you. . . Can you forgive yourself-- --On of the heaviest, most distracting, and most consuming weights that Christians carry around is guilt. Unnecessary, self-imposed guilt.--You can lay down your guilt at the feet of Jesus. Stop trying to earn his love.--The question is simple- Is Jesus's sacrifice on the cross enough for you, or do you feel you still need to add to it in some way--

Alice's Adventures Underground by Lewis Carroll audiobook. This is the handwritten book that Carroll wrote for private use before being urged to develop it later into Alice in Wonderland. It was generously illustrated by Carrol and meant to entertain his family and friends. When a sick child in a hospital enjoyed it so much, the mother wrote him saying it had distracted her for a bit from her pain and led eventually to Carroll expanding the story. The Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and the Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed in a boat, on 4 July 1862, up the Isis with the three young daughters of Henry Liddell, (the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University and Dean of Christ Church) : Lorina Charlotte Liddell (aged 13, born 1849); Alice Pleasance Liddell (aged 10, born 1852); Edith Mary Liddell (aged 8, born 1853). The journey began at Folly Bridge near Oxford and ended five miles away in the village of Godstow. During the trip the Reverend Dodgson told the girls a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. The girls loved it, and Alice Liddell asked Dodgson to write it down for her. He began writing the manuscript of the story the next day, although that earliest version no longer exists. The girls and Dodgson took another boat trip a month later when he elaborated the plot to the story of Alice, and in November he began working on the manuscript in earnest. To add the finishing touches he researched natural history for the animals presented in the book, and then had the book examined by other children—particularly the MacDonald children. He added his own illustrations but approached John Tenniel to illustrate the book for publication, telling him that the story had been well liked by children. On 26 November 1864 he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, with illustrations by Dodgson himself, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day". Some, including Martin Gardner, speculate there was an earlier version that was destroyed later by Dodgson when he printed a more elaborate copy by hand.

Alistair shares from John 20:19-31 and Acts 5:27-32 on the Second Sunday of Easter 2022 as part of KNEC Church Online. www.knec4jesus.org.uk Quotations used: 1) Desmond Tutu wrote this, “Dear Child of God, it is often difficult for us to recognise the presence of God in our lives and in our world. In the clamour of the tragedy that fills the headlines we forget about the majesty that is present all around us. We feel vulnerable and often helpless. . . . But we are not helpless and with God's love we are ultimately invincible. Our God does not forget those who are suffering and oppressed”. 2) Richard Rohr puts it like this, ”We're finally indestructible when we recognise that the thing which could destroy us is the very thing that could enlighten us….God's one and only job description is to turn death into life”. 3) Brian McLaren writes that, “Resurrection has begun. We are part of something rare, something precious, something utterly revolutionary. It feels like an uprising. An uprising of hope, not hate. An uprising armed with love, not weapons. An uprising that shouts a joyful promise of life and peace, not angry threats of hostility and death. It's an uprising of outstretched hands, not clenched fists. It's the “someday” we have always dreamed of, emerging in the present, rising up among us and within us. It's so different from what we expected—so much better. This is what it means to be alive, truly alive. This is what it means to be en route, walking the road to a new and better day. Let's tell the others: the Lord is risen!” [Brian D. McLaren, We Make the Road by Walking (New York: Jericho Books, 2014)]

BACKGROUND ABOUT THE PODCAST LDS AND MEDIUM:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story. If you like what I do, then you can find me here: https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. "God puts a premium on words." are some of the amazing statements you'd find in today's devotional article. We live in a world that has normalized negative confessions in every day communication. Someone asks another "How are you?" or "How is business?" and the response is "I'm managing." or "Business? You know that things are hard these days." Someone says something funny, and while laughing, the other person says, "Hahahahahaha, you want to kill me with laughter." So many terrible affirmations in our daily conversations. Dear Child of God, don't talk like the world; you're not of it! Refuse to be careless with words; learn how to talk as you go through the entire article. Have a restful weekend. God bless you.

It takes one language to write a book; it takes many to share it with the world--so how exactly does the process of translation work? Romy Hausmann, debut German author of the thriller novel Dear Child, and Jamie Bulloch, German-to-English translator of Dear Child, discuss with Julie and Eve how the author and translator communicate (if at all) during the translation process; why conveying character voice and the natural rhythms of language are so crucial; and what it feels like when the translator becomes just as invested in a book as its author. As an added bonus, Romy chimes in with a few questions of her own for Jamie! Find us on Twitter (@bookdreamspod) and Instagram (@bookdreamspodcast), or email us at contact@bookdreamspodcast.com.

Bible says the righteous will flourish like the palm tree. * We are born sinners but made righteous by the blood of Jesus. * We are the children of God and shall thrive in all situations even amid adversities. As a righteous person, * We will also be established firm and grow tall and wide, giving shelter and support to many people around cutting across the boundaries of color, culture, and languages. * We represent Christ for selfless living in this world like the cedar tree. * We should be fruitful in season and out of season glorifying God in our life. Dear Child of God, You are unique. You are a blessing to this world.
Luke 5:1-11 English Standard Version (ESV)Jesus Calls the First Disciples5 On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. 7 They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.
A Sermon Preached by Rev. Katie Aumann on Isaiah 43:1-7 and Galatians 3:27-29October 27, 2019
We all procrastinate. Tasks from making a doctor’s appointment to preparing taxes to doing the laundry invite us to put off until tomorrow what we can postpone today. We may distract ourselves by going online, doing errands, or minimizing the time a job will take. Although procrastination signals that a given task is hard and emotionally charged, it buys only temporary escape from anxiety. Furthermore, procrastination can lead to disappointment in oneself that can undermine the self-confidence needed to face subsequent challenges. We are called to the hero’s journey in confronting the dragon of deficiency that inhabits our inner world as procrastination. If we dare to begin, we can find the help we need, and may discover that the task itself is not as onerous as we imagined--and that we are more. Dream I'm in what looks like a large garage. There is a band playing for maybe 15 people. A man with the mic asked me who I wanted to hear play. I automatically said “Anthony Green” who is an artist I haven't listened to since college. He happened to be in the audience and he got up on stage. The band started playing “Dear Child.” It's a joyous-sounding song with a lot of energy. A line that repeats is “I've been trying to reach you, but my extension cord wouldn't reach that far." As the band was playing, a bunch of little fires started on the floor and the walls. Everyone including me was running around putting out the fires with our bare hands and by stomping. The band kept playing this whole time. The mood was still light and joyous despite the "emergency." Most of the fires were out. I saw through a vent in the wall that there was a raging fire in the basement. I looked back up and the entire room had transformed into a much more industrial and bigger building. It was some kind of modern factory. A woman who worked in this building took me to the stairs to get into the basement so we could put out the fire. She was around my age. We started going down the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs was a big dark tunnel. I started flipping random switches to try and turn the lights on so I could get to the fire. After maybe 10 seconds of failing, the woman ran into the dark toward the fire without saying anything. I woke up. While awake I listened to the song again and read along with the lyrics. I was in shock when I heard "Dear sleeper, you could have had the better bed. I loved to watch the way you grew." I felt like my psyche was saying that directly to me. References Prochasa, James. 2013 was a preliminary highlight for Søren juul. He signed with the recognized label 4AD and released his debut album ‘Somewhere Else’ under his former alias, Indians. On this episode Søren Juul talks about how he, all alone in a basement in Portland, Oregon, wrote the song ‘Dear Child’ from his upcoming album ‘This Moment’ and how he used a trance-like synthesizer sound in this otherwise melancholic, ambient song.

The Lord has prepared us for this season. He wants us to focus on the path ahead of us. The refining is painful but brings correction and is beautiful at the end.Psalm 16: 11 saysYou have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.Psalm 17:3You have tried my heart; You have visited me by night; You have tested me and You find nothing;I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.THE LORD WANTS US TO KNEEL ...Before him in repentance, for it rids us of our self-focus. Light comes when we are delivered from ourselves! Psalm 36:9For with You is the fountain of life;In Your light we see lightTHE LORD WANTS US TO PAY ATTENTION ...To our “eye gates.” What we look at. Our hearts need to be locked into His gates. He says, “Look to me!”And His arms are the gates that are holding us. Psalm 118 Vs 19Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORDHE WANTS US TO STAY IN THE INNER COURT ...And minister Him. He is wanting us to get to “Ground Zero.” Go into it and let all things of the flesh melt. Psalm 101:6My eyes shall [look with favor]upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He/she who walks blamelessly, He/she shall minister to me.HE WANTS US TO BE DELIVERED ...From disappointments or the feeling of being unworthyPsalm 34:4I sought the LORD, and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. You see, it is fear that holds us back and fear that causes us to to feel paralyzed or paranoid and so we are not able to move ahead in:Wisdom AdvancementandReconciliation.THE LORD IS CALLING US OUT TO RISK. He will not fail us!He will not cause us to stumble, but He will cause us to grow and mature into the saint that will cause people out in the world to want to listen to what we have to share. If we act ashamed of the Gospel and we act religious, then people are not interested in what we have to say. Whatever “fresh thing” we think that we are bringing. But when we have the sweet presence of God flowing out of our lives, when we have His grace and abundance, and mercy and kindness is expressed in actions and deeds of tremendous forgiveness, then the world is drawn to something tender and sweet. And it answers the hollowness of their own lives.THE LORD WANTS US TO BE RESTING ...And praying. He is using His “holy sandpaper” to get down to the beauty of the true wood in our lives.Psalm 62:1 My soul finds rest in God alone; My salvation comes from him.Psalm 62: 5Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; My hope comes from him.Dear Child of God.I encourage you to understand that the pressure that you are under or perhaps even the sorrow or suffering that seems so unbearable, is not something that you need to consider as a punishment from the Lord. It is He, driving us into a place where we are dependent upon Him only.He allows the sorrows in order for us to find out just how weak we are in our own abilities, and how strong He is to deliver us.I encourage you today to move into today what is known as WAR.WisdomKnowing just what really is the Wisdom of God. To seek it out and find it.Advancement What does it mean to move ahead into the deeper things of God? Usually, it means dying to our own pleasure, our own self, which seems to be a bit of a paradox compared to what we like to do. Thinking that if we produce more, we move ahead more. But the Lord says, “ He that humbles himself in My sight, I WILL raise up at the right time.ReconciliationThe Lord desires for each of us that we would have a season of reconciliation. He desires that we would be brought back to a place of rest with those whom we may have been in strife with.I encourage you that if there is anyone that you need to reconcile with or ask if you have in anyway offended them, go to them. If they do not receive you well, know that the Lord will continue to work on your behalf deep within their heart.LET US COME INTO A HOLY PLACE ...As this season of the Lord moves across the earth. He is drawing His saints together to lay down their religious strongholds and opinions as well as judgments of one another. Choosing instead, to bend their knees humbly and cry out to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords to reveal Himself in all of His grace and Mercy to them.Let us, be some of the very first people to bow our knees, to pray for one another, to ask the Father that He would again touch the planet Earth one more time with a great fiery move of His Spirit. That those that are lost, broken and deceived would have their eyes opened and their understanding made clear that the Son of God has come and redeemed them from the curse.
