MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN BY BRINGING BACK THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE OF EARLY AMERICA: GEORGE WHITEFIELD
THERE IS A MOVIE ENTITLED, ‘ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE' WHICH IS A SECULAR MOVIE BUT IS WELL WORTH WATCHING. IN THIS MOVIE, THERE ARE TWO LIGHTS, BUT ONE OF THEM IS HIDDEN. ONE LIGHT IS SEEN BY ANY WHO ARE LISTENING TO THIS PROFESSOR BROADCAST ON HIS RADIO, BUT THERE IS ANOTHER LIGHT THAT IS HIDDEN IN HIS BROADCAST THAT ONLY A FEW CAN SEE. SO SOME OF THE PEOPLE LISTENING ONLY SEE ONE LIGHT, BUT A FEW SELECT PEOPLE SEE BOTH LIGHTS. THE SAME IS TRUE IN CHRISTIANITY. MOST OF US DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON ENJOY THE LIGHT OF THE SON OF MAN AND EVEN SOME OF US MAY HAVE FAITH IN THE SON OF MAN WHO WE KNOW TO BE THE SON OF JOSEPH AND MARY, A CARPENTER; A BLUE COLLAR WORKER WHO HAD A 3 YEAR MINISTRY AND CALLED OTHER BLUE COLLOR WORKERS TO JOIN HIM, LIKE 4 FISHERMAN AND A TAX CHEAT WHO FOLLOWED JESUS AS HE DID MANY MIRACLES LIKE: HEALING SOME OF THE LEPERS, MAKING THE BLIND TO SEE, THE LAME TO WALK, HE WALKED ON WATER, RAISED LAZARUS FROM THE DEAD, WAS CRUCIFIED, HE HIMSELF ALSO ROSE FROM THE DEAD AND WE AS NATURAL MAN AMERICANS MAY HAVE FAITH ON ALL WHAT THE SON OF MAN HAS DONE BY THE POWER OF GOD AND THINK WE ARE CHRISTIANS, NOT KNOWING THAT WE MUST HAVE FAITH ON THE SON OF GOD WHO IS “ALL THE LIGHT WE CAN NOT SEE”, THIS LIGHT IS HID FROM US AND THIS IS WHY JESUS SAYS THE FOLLOWING: TAX COLLECTOR MATTHEW 11: [25] At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast HID these things from WHO?the wise and prudent, AND REVEALED THEM TO WHO?and hast revealed them unto BABES. 26] Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.[27] All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and NO MAN knoweth the Son, BUT WHO?but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, BUT WHO?save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.IN THIS MESSAGE WE WILL TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO “ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE” MENTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING VERSE:FISHERMAN JOHN 3:[19] And this is(=)the condemnation, WHAT IS = TO OUR CONDEMNATION AS NATURAL MAN AMERICANS?that light (SON OF GOD, WHO IS ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE)is come into the world, and men(NATURAL MAN AMERICANS)loved darkness rather than light(SON OF GOD)WHY?because their(NATURAL MAN AMERICANS)deeds were evil(ANYTHING LESS THAN PERFECT).[20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light(SON OF GOD), neither cometh to the light, WHY?lest his deeds should be REPROVED.WE WILL FIND IN THIS MESSAGE THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE ELECT, WHO DON'T YET KNOW THEY ARE THE ELECT, THERE IS SOMETHING IN THEM THAT IS NOT SATISFIED WITH 99,999 % OF THE TRUTH BUT DESIRES WITH ALL HIS HEART TO KNOW 100% OF THE TRUTH, AND IS RELENTLESS IS SEEKING THAT TRUTH, AND WILL GO THOUGH WHATEVER HE HAS TO IN ORDER TO FIND THAT TRUTH, YET KNOWING THAT ALL HIS EFFORTS WOULDN'T BE A FACTOR IN WHY THE TRUTH WAS EVENTUALLY REVEALED TO HIM. ST. AUGUSTINE SOUGHT THE TRUTH FOR YEARS BEFORE CHRIST WAS REVEALED TO HIM BY HIS FATHER IN HEAVEN. “Truth, Truth, how inwardly even then did the marrow of my soul sigh for thee when, frequently and in manifold ways, in numerous and vast books, [the Manicheans] sounded out thy name though it was only a sound! And in these dishes -- while I STARVED for THEE -- they served up to me, in thy stead, the sun and moon thy beauteous works -- but still only thy works and not thyself; indeed, not even thy first work. For thy spiritual works came before these material creations, celestial and shining though they are. But I was hungering and thirsting, not even after those first works of thine, but after THYSELF the TRUTH. JOHN BUNYAN, THE AUTHOR OF, PILGRIMS PROGRESS, THE MOST DEFINITIVE AND ACCURATE BOOK WRITTEN ON SALVATION, WRITES IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY:“This scripture made me faint and fear, yet it kindled fire in my soul. That which made me fear, was this; lest Christ should have no liking to me, for He called whom He would. But oh! the glory !”

When you share the gifts you have, the whole world is improved, little by little. In contrast, when couples and individuals get caught up in the dark desire to get ahead for themselves despite what happens to others, those who are weaker, elderly, less affluent, less desirable or otherwise more culturally marginalized get forgotten and discarded. In this episode, Christa walks you through sharing your light, even through discouragement, through the lens of the magnificent WWII novel, "All the Light We Cannot See" along with her husband Wes, who joins in for a conversation walking through the important elements from the accompanying Netflix series. This week Shawn is joined by co-hosts Jinnie and Acacia to discuss the recent Netflix limited series adaptation of the book, “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. They discuss the story, which centers around the character of Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl in Paris after it is invaded by Nazi Germany as well as how blindness was portrayed within the story and translated from the book to screen. They also discuss the importance of disability representation in media and how this particular project is special since the role of Marie was played by Aria Mia Loberti, who is legally blind in real life. In our special episode, we're revisiting the tech highlights of 2023. The year began with Sony's PlayStation 5 controller launch and Microsoft's investment in OpenAI. HumanWare introduced the Victor Reader Stream 3rd gen. March featured Humanware's "Made for Surface" devices and the CSUN conference. April marked Amazon's support for cochlear implants and Seeing AI's indoor navigation feature. Sadly, Microsoft bid farewell to Soundscape, but it returned via Open Scape beta, the Scottish Tech Army, and the NCBI. June showcased Apple's WWDC and Vision Pro, along with Reddit's significant API changes. July was Convention month, featuring Sight Village PamTrad, NFB Report by Damashe Thomas, and ACB-OKO. August turned the spotlight to smart glasses, including Seleste and Kapsys smartvision 3. In September, LEGO launched braille bricks for everyone, while WordPress Accessibility Day emphasized web inclusivity. October unveiled CES in Amsterdam, and November featured a talking air fryer, Be My Eyes at an Open AI event, JAWS news, and some Open AI chaos. Be My AI emerged as the first customer service AI. December concluded with Forza's success at the Game Awards, the Netflix drama "All The Light We Cannot See," and the Android debut of Seeing AI and Be My AI. Pulitzer Prize winner and recently adapted by Netflix for a limited series, "All The Light We Cannot See" is a book that can change your life. Naturally, that meant Kit and Bridge had to register their official opinions in the form of cork ratings and a deep dive into the character's minds... exploring the tricky moral ground of a sympathetic Nazi character. But complex intellectual conversations aside, the booze does get to them and things do get a little silly toward the end. You won't want to miss it. In this episode we have the pleasure and honor of speaking with Anthony Doerr. Anthony is an American author of novels, short stories, and essays. He is the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel All the Light We Cannot See (2014), which was a #1 New York Times bestseller, has been translated into more than 40 languages, and has recently been adapted into a limited series on Netflix. He is also the author of the novels Cloud Cuckoo Land (2021) and About Grace (2007), short story collections The Shell Collector (2002) and Memory Wall (2010), and his personal memoir Four Seasons in Rome (2011). Anthony writes for The Boston Globe and The Morning News online magazine, has been featured in The Atlantic and The New Yorker, was the Writer in Residence for Idaho from 2007 to 2010, and has taught at Boise State University. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, he has received numerous prestigious awards and has been a finalist for many more. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and has called Boise his home for many years. All his deserved acclaim aside, Anthony was a blast to speak with. He's the kind of guy you feel you've known for years and with whom you want to share a bottle of wine by a fire pit (or as he may prefer, a six pack). He just has such a positive energy. We could have talked for hours, but restrained ourselves to focus on some of the themes of his novels which include the power of ideas to mobilize people to action, authoritative control and censorship, technology's ability to make wonders or wreak havoc, the dangers of “othering”, and being a force for good in the world. We touch on how many of these issues have affected our local community, the value of libraries, our shared love of Idaho, and even discuss how to be great parents and raise good, strong kids who are ready for a tumultuous world. FYI: We spoke with Anothy over Zoom, which is usually wonderful, but today caused a few hiccups. Or maybe it was our internet connection. Who knows- I'm not a tech nerd. But there are a few Matrix-y sounding pings and a little static towards the end. We hope you bear with us, because the conversation is well worth it. If you want to know more about Anthony, just Google him (he's kind of a big deal and is all over the internet). But you can get an overview at his website anthonydoerr.com (https://anthonydoerr.com) or by checking out one of his many writings. We strongly recommend you read either All the Light We Cannot See or Cloud Cuckoo Land, or tune into the Netflix series of All the Light We Cannot See.

All The Light We Cannot See is the poetry of this episode, and a story of Hope and Resistance. This ties in to so many avenues of our lives and our favorite stories. Bye Bye Barry shows us the incredible talent that Barry Sanders brought to the Detroit Lions, and to the world. LEO is a cute cartoon movie staring Adam Sandler and Bill Burr. It's a good reminder that we are all just kids once, and we are all just trying to do our best. Wife Of The Party with LeeAnn Kreischer, Whitney Cummings, and Bert Kreischer is a great episode. Whitney is expecting her first baby soon, and LeeAnn was having her on for her 300th episode of Wife Of The Party podcast. Lisa discusses three popular books that, in the fall of 2023, have been released on the screen – either as a movie or a limited series. She discusses Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr and Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. Lisa delves into each movie and how it compares to the book. Time Magazine says the limited series of All The Light We Cannot See is a simplistic version of the book. The Daily Beast calls Mark Ruffalo's accent abominable. Lisa and Kirsten Plonner discussed All the Light We Cannot See on this episode and Kirsten didn't like the way the book ended. Still, the limited series has an entirely different ending, which Lisa discusses in today's episode. Lessons in Chemistry is available on Apple TV and a new episode drops on Fridays. Lisa discussed Lessons in Chemistry on an episode of the podcast here. In Lessons in Chemistry, there were some dramatic changes from characters form the book to the show. For instance, one character Harriet was an aging housewife, but in the limited series, they change her to a young African American attorney. Vulture Magazine says that the show introduces a marginalized character and marginalizes her story. Killers of the Flower Moon is now on the big screen and there is some debate about the age of the actors and this article delves into that topic. CNN discusses the length of the movie. For more information, find Lisa on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and her website. *The book titles mentioned include affiliate links. Anthony Doerr's 2014 war novel All The Light We Cannot See has been adapted into a four-part TV series on Netflix. The story is based in Nazi-occupied France during World War Two, and revolves around a blind character called Marie-Laure LeBlanc and a German boy, Werner Pfennig, who is pressed into serving as an anti-German radio broadcast interceptor for the Nazi army. Aria Mia Loberti plays the role of Marie in the series and she joins us from Rhode Island to share what the experience was like of starring in her first acting role, the choices she applied to the character and she shares anecdotes of what it was like on set as a blind person and filming with the likes of Hugh Laurie. Fern Lulham is the voice of the audio description for the adaptation on Netflix and she tells us more about how audio describing works when you're visually impaired and Sean Randall is an avid reader, who has both read the book and watched the series, he helps us assess how well Marie-Laure LeBlanc has been adapted to the screen. The Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See was written by Steven Knight and Directed by Shawn Levy. Is it really the end? Did we like the final Beatles product? And what's more, did we ever think Monty Python was funny? Is comedy in some cases more about a sense of unity with like-minded fans, rather than actual laughs? We try to put these thorny issues to bed.In other news, we trail All The Light We Cannot See, the dramatisation of Anthony Doerr's acclaimed novel, and the police procedural Shetland, now up to season 8.Tommy Emmanuel will tour NZ and ElTele will be there. We're both slightly baffled by TikTok train spotter Francis Bourgeois. And will New Zealanders appreciate Mortimer and Whitehouse going fishing on primetime TV?Show notes and links at https://www.onlyapodcast.com/episode-50-the-beatles-the-end/https://linktr.ee/onlyapodcast

Anke is daarentegen NIET te spreken over een andere Netflix-release: All The Light We Cannot See (28:19). I think many aspiring writers have a juicy family story passed down that they are sure would make a great novel. Our guest this week, Ciera Horton McElroy, had heard stories about her grandfather, a scientist who worked at a plant that produced materials for a hydrogen bomb during the height of the Cold War in the 1960s. That one family story is the jumping off point of her debut novel, a work of historical fiction titled Atomic Family that takes the reader on a journey to an era of burgeoning women's rights, Sears Roebuck fashion, and the suburban American dream. With some good old radiation thrown into the mix. We talk to Ciera about what it was like to be a tourist at a now abandoned hydrogen bomb facility, how writing a little blog at 16 helped her start her own company, and the big differences between living in a state like Florida versus the Midwest. Sophia and Kate talk about the books that surprised them most in the past year, "All The Light We Cannot See" and "Girls With Bright Futures," and what makes a good book good.
The two books in today's episode point up how authors write and empathize with characters that aren't exactly likable. First we hear from Anthony Doerr who spoke to NPR correspondent Arun Rath about his Pulitzer-Prize winning novel All The Light We Cannot See. Doer talks about how we can better understand the moral choices people make by tuning into untold stories. Then, Scott Simon of NPR's Weekend Edition interviews author Yiyun Li about her new novel The Book of Goose. It's a story of two ruthless French girls who write a book that alters their lives.
Excited to bring Dottie Pepper back to The Tie to chat about anything but golf. Today we have our first book review on Anthony Doerr's All The Light We Cannot See, a historically fictitious WW2 novel that tells the story of German invasion of France through the eyes of two adolescents. Dottie is a huge fan of WW2 history so we decided we had to have her on to review a particular favorite of hers and the book choice nor conversation did not disappoint. We hope you enjoy this chat as much as we did and look forward to more book reviews with fellow readers in the golf space down the road!Cheers,- The Tie Guys@thetiepodcast on instagram and twitterthetiegolfpodcast@gmail.comGoodWalk Coffee: https://goodwalkcoffee.comCODE: thetie for 20% off

Leadership, Cybersecurity, and Transformation. In this episode of The Outspoken Podcast, host Shana Cosgrove talks to retired Rear Admiral Danelle Barrett, former deputy CIO of the US Navy, Director of Operations at Cyber Command and Author of ‘Rock the Boat'. Danelle talks about what it was like to be a wife and mother while serving the Nation. She goes into the values of communication and importance of the transformational opportunities in life. We also get to hear about the writing and production process of Danelle's book, Rock the Boat and what made her decide to write. Lastly, Danelle allows us to hear about her past experiences working at Disney World, what she wishes she did differently, and her ‘embarrassing mom moment.' QUOTES “So, I think sometimes we have to really be mindful and open to whatever's coming our way. Be a little Semper Gumby, a little flexible, and leap at that opportunity that we just wouldn't have seen or didn't see because we were so blind [with] everything we thought we wanted.”– Danelle Barrett [12:20] “So, her dream was just as important as mine and my husband's. So, there's ways in families to manage that, but it takes effort, takes some coordination and stuff like that, but you know, you can't be solely focused on your career yourself. You got to make sure that everybody else's dreams and aspirations are just as important as yours and taken care of.”– Danelle Barrett [28:56] “...I do believe, you know, as a leader you have to look for those opportunities that are transformational. That will change something for the better.”– Danelle Barrett [36:53] TIMESTAMPS [00:04] Intro [01:52] Meet Danelle Barrett [02:59] Rock the Boat [03:37] Corporate Boards [04:58] Leaving the Navy [06:58] Going into the Navy and Working in the Pentagon [09:37] Evolution of Technology [10:10] Shifting to Leadership Roles [12:34] Women Going to Sea and the Ships [15:25] Danelle's Husband and Daughter [16:58] Danelle's Parents and Siblings [18:47] Being in the Navy as a Mom [22:05] Danelle's Mother [24:40] Marriage Tips and Familial Communication [28:06] Danelle's Daughter [30:02] Women in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science [33:11] Hair and Clothing [36:12] Rock the Boat [38:51] Ideas, Visions, and Evolution [41:53] Communication Systems Impacting Cybersecurity [43:51] Writing a Book and the Distribution Process [48:08] Ping Pong and Piano [50:53] Danelle's Favorite Book [52:02] What Danielle Looks Back on [53:27] Working at Disney World [54:17] Funny Mom Moment [58:39] Outro RESOURCES https://www.navy.mil/ (United States Navy) https://marineparents.com/marinecorps/sempergumby.asp (Semper Gumby) https://www.navysite.de/ships/lcc19.htm (USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19)) https://www.c6f.navy.mil/About-Us/Our-Task-Forces/CTF-63/USS-Mount-Whitney-LCC-20/ (USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20)) https://www.va.gov/ (U.S. Department of Federal Affairs) https://explorehealthcareers.org/career/nursing/occupational-health-nurse/ (Occupational Health Nurse) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218839/ (Best in Show) https://www.uky.edu/UKHome/ (University of Kentucky) https://www.sears.com/ (Sears) https://www.amazon.com/ (Amazon) https://www.tesla.com/elon-musk (Elon Musk) https://www.waltdisney.org/walt-disney (Walt Disney) https://www.neilgaiman.com/ (Neil Gaiman) https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ (The Salvation Army) https://www.amazon.com/Bell-Adano-John-Hersey/dp/0394756959 (A Bell for Adano) by John Hersey https://www.pulitzer.org/ (The Pulitzer Prize) https://www.amazon.com/All-Light-We-Cannot-See/dp/1501173219 (All The Light We Cannot See) by Anthony Doerr https://www.janeausten.org/ (Jane Austen) https://www.amazon.com/Far-Madding-Crowd-Wordsworth-Classics/dp/1853260673 (Far from the Madding Crowd) by Thomas Hardy https://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Leadership-Executive-Strategies-Tough/dp/0446394599 (Lincoln on Leadership) by Donald T. The focus was to explore our Italian heritage and culture. Needless to say our taste buds were tantalised to the max! My most vivid memory was sipping the locally produced dessert wine known as Malvasia on the terrazzo of the small vineyard over looking sparkling 'azzuro' sea. We brought a bottle back with us in our luggage, but I haven't opened it because it's too precious and it stirs beautiful memories of my heritage.Viv Mc Waters Bicycles, tents, itinerary all sorted, 14 of us plus the only hire car available as a support vehicle, descended on King Island's only store in Currie to stock up on essentials - cheese, salami and of course, wine. In the ‘specials' bin we unearthed some bottles of red at too-good-to-be-true prices. The owner, who had recently taken over the shop, told us he wanted to clear them because they were getting too old! Cut your bacon into thick 1cm lardons (have a look at the picture – that's roughly the size your croutons and bacon should be), and add to the pan. Fry, stirring occasionally, for around 3 minutes, or until you've got a good bit of colour on the bacon and a lot of the fat has rendered out. Turn the heat down a little and add your bread to the pan, making sure you spread the croutons out so they take on some colour. Fry for another 3 minutes, or until they've sucked up all the wonderful flavour and are lovely, crisp and golden.Put the extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper into a clean jam jar. Put the lid on and give it a shake, then have a taste and make sure you've got the balance right. You want it to be slightly too acidic at this stage, as you'll get quite a bit of saltiness from the bacon and French dressings tend to be quite sharp.Once your dressing is made, get everyone around the table so they're ready to tuck in as soon as the salad is ready. Put your salad leaves on a big platter, tear in the radicchio, then pour over that wonderful, thick dressing. Scatter over most of your walnuts and chives and all the croutons and lardons. Quickly mix it all up with your clean hands so that every single leaf is coated.Use the tip of a knife to crumble off little nuggets of Roquefort and let them fall straight on to your salad. Finish by scattering over the rest of the walnuts and chives from a height, and tuck in.

Stories are beautiful in the way it allows a person to dive deep into another world that tends to bring out certain pieces in us that we don't know about. Yet the process of telling and writing stories is not often as easy as it is to see its beauty. Two great writers speak about their writing process, taking in the struggles they meet and finding creativity in them along the way: Anthony Doerr of All The Light We Cannot See and Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat, Pray, Love. In this Light Meets Magic conversation, they share their takes on failure, creating under pressure, ending a story, and taking comfort in the randomness of ideas. They also address how the creativity process reflects certain struggles in business, most especially with the changing faces of people's consumption.Love the show?
