How secret should a secret recipe be? What's really going on with the theme song? And how many times can they possibly cream it up? We squeeze out the answers to these questions and more as we watch Season 1, Episode 14 of Family Matters.Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. It's January 2025, and we're in the final days of the Biden administration. He has had a busy last month or so issuing pardons and commutations. This unfettered power is rightly scrutinized but often misunderstood. The bigger problem is, the whole damn process appears to be broken. And although Pres. Biden has done some good things with his power, it still represents a small fraction of those languishing in prison who deserve action. Margeret Love was the head of the US Pardon office from 1990-97, she had a front row seat to the pardon process, and continues to represent clients seeking pardons. Mark Allenbaugh needs no introduction. His stats help us put many of these decisions into the proper perspective. Both of them join us on the first episode of the new year to lend their unique perspective to this very timely issue! IN THIS EPISODE The Hunter Biden Pardon The 1500 commutations of those who BOP had released to home confinement during Covid; The difference between pardons and clemency; When did things really start to go off the rails in the US Pardon office? (spoiler alert, it was the Clinton years); Is it true that when you accept a pardon it is an admission of guilt? Trumps promise to pardon the January 6th defendants; Can a president pardon himself? Why the pardon essentially makes the president the "DOJ's Janitor"; How the pardon power should be managed going forward; Michael Conahan commutation (the judge embroiled in “cash for kids” scandal); Rita Crundwell (Dixon, IL Comptroller fraud) commutation. LINKS: For more info on the Rita Crundwell Case, there's a great documentary produced by Prof. Kelly Richmond Pope called "All the Queens Horses" currently available on Amazon Prime (https://www.amazon.com/All-Queens-Horses-Gene-Biggerstaff/dp/B07BPNGP85). She also writes about it in her book, "Fool Me Once" https://a.co/d/hQzJFUY I had Dr. Pope on the podcast to talk about this case a while back As for the "Kids for Cash" judge who just had his sentence commuted, here's his wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Conahan Here's our two previous episodes on Hunter Biden. The first talks in detail about the political nature of his prosecution and his original plea bargain falling apart and the next happened live after he pled guilty in California: Ep. 64: Too Cute by Half: Why Hunter's Plea Went South: https://youtu.be/sWEzwKLQCoo?si=rK3qRURAJVQtXXk5 Ep. 92: Livestream Bonus: Hunter Biden Edition: https://www.youtube.com/live/B3VL-cJlXSo?si=r1zAdBS6C2s_STTO(make sure you forward through the first two minutes of tech disaster) And we talk in depth about the concept of "lawfare".
Richard Armitage's dream of becoming an actor began in his teens, in a circus in Budapest, where he slept within sniffing distance of the elephant enclosure to earn a much-needed Equity card. Having spent his early career on stage, his big break came in the BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South in 2004. Richard went on to star in Spooks, before scoring roles in The Hobbit Trilogy and Ocean's 8. Recently he has appeared in Netflix hits including Obsession and Fool Me Once, with Michelle Keegan. Acting is not his only creative endeavour: Richard is also an author. His debut novel was a number 1 bestseller on Audible and his latest offering, The Cut, is out now. Nick mixes a non-alcoholic Pentire coastal spritz for Richard while Angela prepares the best smash burger, a recipe by Martha Collison, serving it with oven chips. Nick and Angela enjoy a 0% Stella Artois with their meal, while the experts at Waitrose suggest a Rasteau Edition Limitee as the wine pairing. Our trio discuss Richard's army of loyal fans, what it's like to read audiobooks for a living and how a chance meeting in a graveyard inspired his new novel. My guest today has a nickname in showbiz circles: he's called ‘Ideal Actor' because of his scene-stealing talent and his ability to get under the skin of what it is to be human. If you've watched Netflix's monster hit, Fool Me Once, or seen Sherwood or Back To Life or The Night Manager or if you've watched the movies Four Lions or Murder Mystery 2, the chances are you will remember his performances. He's a brilliant actor, but he's also, as it happens, a wonderful guest - funny, moving and a deep thinker. He joins me to talk about his acting failures, his failure to work hard at school, an upbringing where he was forced to question the nature of his own identity and his failure to keep things in perspective. Also: karaoke. As always, I'd LOVE to hear about your failures. Every week, my guest and I choose a selection to read out and answer on our special subscription offering, Failing with Friends. This week, Andrew and Kevin cover Saltburn, Monarch, Fool Me Once, and also gets back into LOST. But they won't do (some of) it alone! They are joined this week by a long time friend on Andrew's, Lauren. She's very sharp and is up on all of her pop culture goodness! After a nice "getting to know you" session, Lauren and Kevin discuss the psychological thriller, Saltburn. It's an absolutely crazy film and has a lot of buzz around it and they both seemed to like it, so why not try to sell Andrew on it? They also discuss the hit TV series The Handmaids Tale among other things before Lauren hops off. Left without Adult supervision, Kevin tells Andrew about the new Harlen Coben mystery on Netflix, Fool Me Once. It's a very solid mystery/thriller and it's a quick and easy watch and has a lot of twists and turns and is definitely worth the watch if mysteries are your jam. Next up, the guys discuss the Apple TV Monsterverse series, Monarch. The guys definitely enjoyed it... mostly. They did have some issues and they discuss those at length, but ultimately they both liked it and are looking forward to a second season. Finally, and I do mean FINALLY, Kevin and Andrew sit down and talk about LOST again. Andrew finally got back into it absolutely burned through the rest of season 2 and all of season 3 which, as you can imagine, leaves a lot to talk about. This is Kevin's dream come true, seeing Andrew absolutely sucked in by this show. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! What's up everyone!! It's been a minute, but we're back with a slew of things to talk about, including the films Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Oppenheimer, and the old school Sam Raimi classic Darkman!!We review a few new shows on Netflix adapted from Harlan Cobens best selling novels- Dear Child and Fool Me Once. Holy shit they're good!! We also talk about the new Dave Chappelle stand up special - Dreamers, which delivers some pretty funny, but hard jokes!! We switched it up a little this time, starting with a Jesus Calling, and talking about scripture from Psalm 88, and how even at our lowest, it's ok to feel that way! Gods always by our side!!! And as usual, we play out to a featured artist, this time the Dirty Heads with their song End of the World! Give us a listen! Tell us what you think!!!

Imposter syndrome is likely to affect all of us at some point in our life; Michelle Keegan still feels it every time she finishes an acting job. In this chat with Fearne, Michelle talks about her disciplined work ethic, as well as how she's learnt to cope well with the amount of rejection in her industry. They also chat about why setting boundaries – especially drawing lines between personal and professional life – is so important. Plus, they wonder why it still feels important in adulthood to seek validation from our parents. Fool Me Once is available to watch on Netflix now. Hosted on Acast.
