Let's get one thing out of the way, right off the bat: sports and “purpose” have always been intertwined. For all the moaning from the “shut up and dribble” crowd, athletes and sports have ALWAYS provided a platform to shine a light on the issues of the day. Think about it. Jesse Owens and the 1936 Olympics. Jackie Robinson joining the Dodgers. Tommie Smith and John Carlos raising their fists in Mexico City. Billie Jean King's match with Bobby Riggs. Yes, of course, these were sporting events. But in the end, they were So. Much More. And the images and memories of those events are indelible because of it. That intersection of sports and purpose is where this episode's guest Brianna Salvatore Dueck lives. As Head of Strategy for 17 Sport, she's helping brands and sports properties realize the true potential of their partnerships by ensuring that “purpose” is front and center. In this episode, Brianna and I talk about her work at 17 Sport, and the path she took to get there. We touch on what goes into crafting effective, purpose driven campaigns, why they're no longer a luxury, and even how they can be measured. The former D1 hoops player even shares her go to shot for beating her 6' 8” husband in HORSE.

From a young age, Brianna Salvatore Dueck had big goals. She wrote them down, dedicated herself to the process, and made sure that her actions matched her words. ---

How do you love your body when it feels like she's betraying you? Join Chanci and her special guest, Nanci Dueck, as they explore this issue through the lens of living with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). Nanci shares her wisdom gained through her own experience with PMDD and through supporting her clients towards their own emotional health. Strength-based living, permission, compassion and curiosity are just a few of the takeaways! Enjoy! About the Guest:Nanci is an emotional health coach, professionally trained and certified. She gained a passion for coaching after she experienced it firsthand, and had the life-changing realization that emotional health is a skillset most people are never taught; and that learning and practicing these skills can dramatically improve even the negative effects of mental health conditions (like her own genetically predispositioned clinical depression and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). She couldn't understand why something so powerful was so under-taught, and decided this needed to change. When the time came to pick a specialty for her coaching practice, she knew it had to be emotional health. Nanci is also a mother to 5 children, ages 12-21, a wife of 23 years, and has been a restaurant and home-care agency owner and operator.Website: https://coachwithnanci.com Instagram: instagram.com/radiantbraincoachingAbout the Host: Chanci Dawn is a non-diet certified nutritionist, mindset and embodiment coach whose soul's purpose is to help women create the most wildly free and loving relationship with food and their bodies. When you think about leadership do you want to flop down on a therapist's couch and begin rattling off a string of worries and woes? We're not crying. You're crying. CEO and Little Bird Momma Priscilla McKinney and Ben Dueck, President/Founder of Cantera Leadership and a Gallup certified CliftonStrengths coach, join forces to talk about the principles of leadership, leadership qualities, and a laughably small step you can take in leadership. No pressure on leaders but 70% of the success of your teams rests on leadership. A huge factor in— get ready for the buzzword!—employee engagement rests on leaders in the organization. Employee engagement converts to: Profitability Productivity Client Retention Client Sucess The principles of leadership transform and translate into the metrics we, as business leaders, love to see. That's why empowering leaders to know and identify their employee's skills, knowledge, experience, and natural talents are vital for success. If you haven't heard of CliftonStrengths, give it a whirl. It's an incredible tool for understanding, empowering, and leveraging every individual's talents in an organization. Little Bird Marketing's resources are powerful tools too, and definitely whirl-worthy. We're sure you're wondering, so what's this laughably small step in leadership? Fill out this short statement for yourself: When ___________ happens, instead of ___________ I will ___________. Building habits and changing habits don't have to happen with big flourishes and grand gestures. How about if your goal is to work out in the mornings, your statement looked like this: When waking up happens, instead of showering I will put on my running shoes. That's it. That's the whole commitment you're making. A commitment to shoes. As Dueck attests, “When that third blank is a laughably small step, our brains don't get in our way.” This is applicable professionally and can be a game-changer for you and your team. When you're building habits and we go too big— our brain will all too happily get in the way and then our habit will go out the window. And then we'll be back on the therapy couch. As Ben Dueck proclaims, “I'm not the savior. I'm not the only solution. But I want to help you succeed.” Here at Little Bird Marketing, we couldn't agree more. We're here to help you meet your goals, find clarity, spread your wings and… fly. We couldn't resist! Shoutout to our sponsor Fieldwork! Have you ever whispered a silent prayer to the flying change gods to please let this change be clean? Have you ever felt a twinge of temptation to throw your weight to get the change, or pull on the inside rein? Flying changes don't have to be dependent on luck (although luck always helps) – but many of us don't understand the flying change as deeply as we could. There's a LOT to know about the flying change and this in-depth dissection will help you understand, train, and execute the change better – whether you're a dressage rider, jumper rider, eventer, western rider or beyond. International dressage rider and competitor Shannon Dueck is here to take us to the school of flying lead changes. In this episode, Shannon and host Caroline Culbertson dive into: How changes differ between the disciplines The prerequisites both the horse and rider must have before starting flying changes How to introduce them What exactly are the horses' legs doing in a flying change, anyway? A good flying change vs a great one How should it feel? How should you sit? What's the correct timing of the aid? How to get a change you can RELY on A great canter exercise to build the canter that you need for a good change

In this episode, Gastronomica Editorial Collective member Amy Trubek speaks with Jennifer Dueck about tastemaking and gastronomic representation in American journalism. A historian of Middle Eastern culture and politics, Jennifer traces the construction of Mediterranean cuisine in the American press over the latter half of the 20th century, noting points of erasure and expansion. Josh Friesen is part owner of Duek Builders https://www.dueckbuilders.com/ Dueck Builders had its beginnings as Dueck Homes when Cal Dueck began building custom homes in 2006 in his neighbourhood of Fort Garry. Cal started with a hands-on approach, doing all the framing, concrete, and finishing in the green homes he built. Energy efficient homes and sustainable building practices continue to be at the forefront of what Dueck Builders brings to the table. They created the first privately-built LEED certified house in Manitoba, and Cal contributed to various Green building boards. Dueck Builders continues to invest in pushing the envelope for responsible building. Whether it is ICF houses or double-wall builds, they aim to achieve Passive House air exchange requirements to ensure healthy indoor air quality. In 2016, Dueck Homes changed its name to Dueck Builders, remaining a family owned and operated business with nephew Josh Friesen joining the company. Dueck Builders is committed to making a fair wage and ensuring fair payment to sub-trades. They believe win-win situations are the only way to conduct business. Palmer “I care for the subject, I care for the student; I'm going to do my best to help you become friends.” “Without the relationship between the teacher and student, the teacher's not going to be as adept at helping the student develop the relationship with the curriculum.” “As you know a student better, you're going to be able to establish better links between that student and the curriculum.” “Relationships are at the core of everything. Nothing happens outside of a relationship.” What's changing our lives: Keane: Known book Heather: Fig and goat cheese pizza Randy: Flying internationally for the first time in two years Weekly Spotlight: El Camino BIlingual School We'd love to hear from you! podcast@teachbeyond.org. Why is reporting important? Why do some victims never report? What can the friends, family, and church of victims do to assist in the reporting process? What about the Statute of Limitations in historical cases? Does a victim who no longer lives near the location of the crime need to physically go into the police station to report, or can they make a phone call? What can the family of a child victim expect? In some states, mandatory reporters have 24 hours to report a crime. Given that we live in the age of the internet, it is unwise to delay, using the full 24 hours. Why? **Content labeled as 'explicit' due to discussions surrounding the topic of child sex abuse.
