You're listening to Voices of Your Village. Hello, everybody. Today, I got to hang out with Heather Chauvin of the Emotionally Uncomfortable podcast. And we had such a great conversation talking about how to take radical ownership of our own emotions and needs as adults so that we aren't laying that burden on our kids. We touch on codependency and co -parenting relationships and how so much of this work is the self -awareness of what's coming up for us underneath the way we're interacting with our kids and partners. Heather is a TEDx speaker, author of Dying To Be A Good Mother, and host of the highly loved podcast Emotionally Uncomfortable. Heather started her career as a social worker helping adults understand children's behavior, but it wasn't until 2013 when a stage 4 cancer diagnosis pushed her to take a deeper stand for change, uncovering how cultural expectations sabotage our dreams. She's been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Real Simple Magazine, MindBodyGreen, Google, and more. When Heather isn't working, you'll find her living out what she teaches, which may include kayaking Alaska, snowboarding, hiking, or anything else that challenges what she believes is possible for herself and inviting her children along the journey. This episode is very near and dear to my heart and I have deep gratitude for the journey Heather has guided me on. Holding belief and confidence in myself until I could do that for myself. We are celebrating transformation!!! I want to honor Heather for the amazing work she does to help people reinvent and resign ourselves. You have everything you need. It doesn't have to come from outside of you. A lot of us are disconnected from ourselves. Having the self awareness to know what questions to ask yourself to see what YOU need. Getting to the point where you notice it and decide what it is telling you. Trust yourself. How do you connect with people around you if you are so disconnected from everything in your body? When you think of NOT Enough, what do you desire to have to be enough, you get to choose how you want to feel. What is the more that you desire? Be curious in all areas of your life. Having someone there supporting you in what MORE you desire to help guide you and hold you accountable. Taking a stand for yourself, to make the investment for yourself. Being opened, willing to take the first step to show up for yourself, and honor yourself being worthy enough to invest in. ----------------------- Follow Heather Heathers Website: http://heatherchauvin.com/ Order Heathers Book: http://heatherchauvin.com/book-order Heathers Podcast: Emotionally Uncomfortable Instagram @heatherchauvin_ --------------------------------------------- Diane Sorensen www.dianesorensen.net Instagram @beauty.in.behavior

THIS WEEK'S PROBLEM WE'RE TACKLING? When you've already built a business, how do you add professional speaking to it? If you're running a business and not yet speaking professionally, is it time to start? If so, how do you do it?On this episode I'm talking to Farah Perelmuter, co-founder of one of North America's top speaking agencies, Speakers Spotlight, and Heather Chauvin, a successful author, and leadership coach who left a corporate career on her own terms years ago. Now she's asking Farah, how do you re-enter the corporate world as a speaker on your own terms, without losing your voice, message, and positioning? Farah Perelmuter is CEO & Co-Founder of Speakers' Spotlight. She started Speakers' Spotlight in 1995 with her husband Martin in a little room in their apartment, where they shared a desk, a phone, and a computer. They had no clients, no experience, no staff, and no money. But they had a clear vision, and a strong belief that with a lot of hard work and a little luck, they could make it a reality. Since that time, Speakers' Spotlight has grown into one of the world's largest and most respected speakers' agencies. To date, Speakers' Spotlight has arranged more than 30,000 speaking engagements in over 35 countries worldwide and has been fortunate to receive many awards and accolades along the way.Heather Chauvin is a leadership coach who helps ambitious, overwhelmed women conquer their fears and become leaders at work and home. You may remember Heather Chauvin, a previous guest on the show who spoke to us about connecting with what we want. Well, now she's back with even more potent topics for us.  If you are someone who struggles to control your time, energy, money, relationships, emotions - this is a must listen.  Heather and I get really deep into these topics and Heather, who recently survived her battle with cancer and completed her book “Dying To Be A Good Mother”, gives us gold around how we can take responsibility for our actions, thoughts, and behaviors.  She dives into how we can listen to the symptoms of life all around us, guiding us to what we need. We also break down how it is we got here in the first place, listening to others instead of our intuition, and what we can do to break that.  This really is a packed episode and I'm so thankful to Heather for sharing her insights with us, I know you will be too.  Full Transcript at https://theboldleadershiprevolution.com/heather-chauvin/

Do you believe you can feel positive emotions like joy, aliveness, inspired and still be a mom? Well there are cultural beliefs about motherhood that will definitely rob you of feeling good like... •  Our teens should be perfect, because, naturally, our parenting is, too, or it should at least look or sound or seem that way. •  Parenting causes perpetual exhaustion, dirty hair days, bad hair days, body confidence issues, and endless feelings of overwhelm. It also creates the need for nonstop caffeine and, of course, “wine o'clock.” •  Parenting is hard, and if you don't complain about it or feel miserable, exhausted, and stressed out most of the time, you're not one of the “good” moms. •  Its selfish to take care of myself I need to sacrifice everything for my family Our guest today Heather Chauvin has so much wisdom to share with us. She has a powerful story and has lived her message . Heather Chauvin is a leadership coach who helps ambitious, overwhelmed women conquer their fears and become leaders at work and home. Solo episode. Today I talk about boundaries, how to create them, set them, and follow through wit them. I like to keep it real so I hope it helps others. When I am struggling or succeeding I like to be open and honest. I have learned we need to set boundaries and be able to say no for our own self care and to be a better mom, spouse, friend, and so fourth. I touch on signs from the universe I have been receiving. From experiencing dizzy spells, loss of balance, to hurting my back, finally having my aha moment listening to a podcast at the right time the universe is always giving us signs. We just need to listen and learn to get out of our own way. Also in this episode: 15:01: I talk about my school program coming to an end in one month! I have learned so much at IIN. I share only a few things but trust me it has been a lot more than I shared in this short segment. ( I am in no way shape or form being sponsored or paid for talking about Institute Of Integrative Nutrition.) 19:43: Food Cravings. What our body is telling us either physically or emotionally. Not all cravings have to do with a deficiency in our bodies. The two books I mention in this episode are Dying To Be A Good Mother. How I dropped the guilt and took control of my parenting and my life. By Heather Chauvin, and Untamed by Glennon Doyle.
