Of via www.adaptt.org.

Alex Sarandis grew up in a tightknit Greek family, in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Alex ate a relatively omnivorous diet throughout her teenage years, however she remembers disliking the taste and texture of meat from a young age. In her mid twenties, Alex questioned why she was forcing herself to eat meat and from that point, she started removing animal products from her diet. Shortly after, Alex and her brother Jonathan watched Gary Yourofsky videos and made the decision to go vegan.Alex has worked in the hospitality industry since she was 16, working in cafes after school and during her university study. She studied a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Professional Writing and Literature and then conducted post graduate study in Early Childhood Teaching. After finishing her studies, Alex worked as a Kindergarten teacher for a few years. Alex was not satisfied with her chosen career path and after quitting her job, she fell back into hospitality. Having realised she was truly happy in the industry, Alex proposed the idea of opening their own vegan cafe to her partner Matt and brother Jonathan. The idea for Sable was spoken into existence over the following months, sharing ideas, concepts and research.Sable, a New York inspired vegan cafe opened in March 2020 and has gone from strength to strength, despite opening within a few weeks of a global pandemic. Sable is spreading it's wings, with a larger, second location opening in Thornbury in April 2022. Alex, Jonathan and Matt hope to be able to build the business enough to give back to animals and their vegan community. In this episode, Alex shares advice for starting your very own vegan business, ignoring the negative self talk and pivoting during COVID19. https://www.instagram.com/alexandrasarandis/https://www.instagram.com/sable_org/https://sable.org.au/

Izzy is the Founder of Animals First on the Second, as well as a personal trainer, nutritional coach and animal activist. Izzy's vegan journey began almost eight years ago when he was bed ridden following a range of injuries and minor surgeries, leaving him with a physical disability. Izzy wanted to rehabilitate himself and find a way out of his poor health, so he started conducting his own research. He came across a range of documentaries and ended up spending a whole weekend watching documentaries such as Vegucated, What The Health and Earthlings. Izzy watched Gary Yourofsky's speech three times and went vegan overnight. Izzy wanted to help people improve their health through adopting the vegan lifestyle, so he gained qualifications in personal training and nutrition. Izzy was the Nutrition Counsellor at a vegan medical clinic in Brooklyn and has since opened his own small private training studio and online coaching business. Not long after going vegan, Izzy and 2 others founded Vegans of New York with the aim of uniting the vegan and activist community in their local area. Izzy then went on to create Animals First on the Second (AFOTS), a global campaign where activists fast on the second of every month to raise awareness about how animals are treated in the agricultural industry. In this episode, Izzy's shares his hopes for the future of AFOTS, his passion for vegan education, as well as creating and producing rap music with an animal rights message. https://www.instagram.com/fastagainstslaughter/https://www.facebook.com/groups/138314033456715/https://www.fastagainstslaughter.org/https://www.instagram.com/izzyjacobus/https://youtu.be/eYxOtBa5rHc

Know What Truly Nurtures You DISCLAIMER: I am not a vegan. I am a vegetarian. I have family members, and close friends who eat meat. I have no problem with that. Food preferences are a personal topic, and I would like to leave it at that. There's so much to talk about in the world of food manufacturing. Bu, what's there to talk about and why is it important to create awareness? Products and packaging that are at the eye level for children in the shelf, lure them into unhealthy habits. These packaged foods that we consume in America, most of them can't be sold in Europe because they won't pass regulations. Artificial colors that enter into our body, and will never leave it because the liver doesn't know what these products are. And so can't process them. In this food series, I am going to profile some of the most vocal food activists around the world. A few of the great heroes in this field are Vandana Shiva, Gary Yourofsky, Food Babe (Vani Hari), Michael Pollan and most recently, Jonathan Safran Foer. There is so much talk about: what is Monsanto doing, what is happening in slaughter houses, the business of animal shit in America and around the world. And the destruction of forests around the world to make them into animal feeding crop fields. We're just starting. Let's begin. I want you to start by asking yourself, “Do I know the source of my food?”

This episode is brought to you by Vivo Life! Use our code 'chickpeeps10' to get 10% off your order at vivolife.com! This week, Evy speaks to full time activist and animal rights speaker, Joey Carbstrong, about his direct, no-nonsense style of activism. Joey talks about how his early life as part of a gang influenced his bold and confrontational approach to speaking up for the voiceless, and how he remains unperturbed by criticism when he focuses on his core mission of achieving animal liberation. Also on this episode... Joey recounts the time in his life as a gang member, and how a particularly depressing stint in prison prompted a total lifestyle overhaul, and eventually his vegan awakening. How Joey left his gang and found his calling in animal rights activism. How one-on-one street activism can have the greatest impact as an activist. ‘The people who say animals are killed humanely, they haven't ever witnessed what happens inside a slaughterhouse. They're talking merely off of their indoctrination and what they're told.' Joey talks about his experiences in slaughterhouses as being some of ‘the most horrific experiences' of his life. His mindset for dealing with the verbal and online abuse that comes with being a confrontational activist. Joey explains how to avoid ever being ‘stumped' by an anti-vegan argument in a debate. How to focus and conserve one's energy for activism: ‘I don't let anyone get inside my head to try to make me feel guilty for standing up for animals, no matter who it is.' What to say to people who accuse vegans of caring more about animals than humans. Do hardcore vegan activists want people working in the animal agricultural industry to go out of business, or evolve with the plant based food system? Joey explains how he takes a more forceful approach and how Gary Yourofsky's direct speeches about animal abuse was what he needed to hear to go vegan. ‘People need to be held accountable for their contribution to something that is horrific.' Robbie and Evy talk about the c-word and how we can discuss the original source of the virus, as being the consumption of wild animals, without shaming and angering people. There is a LOT of conflicting information out there about what constitutes a healthy plant-based diet. Sometimes, all that noise can leave people so confused (and so worried that they won’t get it “right”) that they tune out altogether, and continue eating the way they always have — even if it’s causing inflammation and disease in the body. That’s what makes today’s episode so powerful. Nutritional superstar Brenda Davis is here to clear up the confusion around plant-based eating and show us how getting more of Mother Nature on your plate can totally transform your health, heal disease, and keep you alive for longer.Head to https://melissaambrosini.com/221 for full episode resources and more inspiring weekly episodes.Brenda is a registered dietitian, leading academic, and has hands-on experience as a public health and clinical nutritionist. Brenda has co-authored 11 award-winning books which have collectively sold more than 750,000 copies and have been translated into 13 languages. Let’s Rage Together Podcast — In this episode we respond to two listener questions and consider whether we (Pete and Taryn) are too negative, and perhaps even divisive within the vegan community. We delve more into what we think about sharing vegan health facts and messaging that is food-, fat- and disease-shaming, and speak more about our views on abortion and Gary Yourofsky. We also discuss the importance of self-care and dealing with the guilt of escapism in the context of unavoidable participation in a capitalist system that causes harm and exploitation on so many levels. Trigger warning: We make mention of topics surrounding abortion and sexual assault. All recording, music and editing by us. Bearded Vegans- Fat Shaming Episode

Korin Sutton is a dedicated individual. In high school, he started lifting weights and paying attention to his nutrition to get in shape (and to get girls). He then joined the military to serve his country because the men in his life served honorably and he wanted to do the same. And then in college, after hearing a lecture given by Gary Yourofsky about animal abuse and veganism, he was so affected that he decided he could no longer continue contributing to the cruelty and suffering of animals. That lecture completely changed the trajectory of his life and he is now a fitness trainer and nutritionist, vegan activist and a competitive bodybuilder. We had a great conversation with Korin, getting to know what makes him tick and diving deeply into why he's so passionate about challenging the status quo in the bodybuilding field. Moving Millennials | Oxygen For A Generation Of Game-Changers
It’s day 3 of my 5-part invitation for you to at least consider a Vegan Lifestyle. Believe me, this is NEVER something I thought I’d be doing on this podcast. If you’d have told me a year ago that I’d be a vegan today, I would have said “Not a chance.” But things change. People change. When I got sick a few months ago, something inside me was begging me to seriously take a look at a whole foods plant-based diet, and to stop eating meat, eggs, and diary. So here I am today sharing the speech that’s had the greatest amount of impact on me - Gary Yourofsky’s ‘Best Speech Ever’. Tune in, and let me know what you think (make sure you start with Part 1) Where are you at with this invitation. Are you in? Do you think I’m crazy? Either way, I want to hear it. Let’s have a conversation. Once again, tune in with an open mind as I read the second part of Gary Yourofsky’s ‘Best Speech Ever’. Let me know what you think. Where are you at with this invitation. Are you in? Do you think I’m crazy? Either way, I want to hear it. Let’s have a conversation. Moving Millennials | Oxygen For A Generation Of Game-Changers
This is it. The first of a 5-part series I’ve put together as a direct invitation to you - yes you - to at least consider living a vegan lifestyle. The most compelling argument I’ve come across for this way of life was assembled by the one and only Gary Yourofsky. In today’s episode I read the first part of his ‘Best Speech Ever’. I invite you to listen with an open mind. At least consider everything he says. Ultimately, the choice is yours. I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one, and the series to follow. Send me an email at dave@movingmillennials.com with ideas, questions, criticisms, or requests, and like us on Facebook at http://facebook.com/movingmillennials Here’s Gary’s complete speech: Resources Discussed Gary’s INCREDIBLE Website Visit http://www.movingmillennials.com/132 for complete show notes, to download The Manifesto, and to receive your free ebook, 'The Millennial Mentors: Volume 1'.
Moving Millennials | Oxygen For A Generation Of Game-Changers
That’s right. Perhaps the biggest change I’ve made over the past few months is that I have switched to a vegan lifestyle. My choice to go vegan was initially based on my health. I had started to find all kinds of research supporting the fact that my body might have a better chance of healing itself if I took all animal products out of my life. Naturally, I started to do a whole lot of reading and YouTube-watching about the vegan way of eating and living. On my 4th day as a vegan, I stumbled across this speech on YouTube given by Gary Yourofsky: I watched all 1 hour and 10 minutes of his talk, AND the 30-minute Q & A that followed (see below), and I was 100% sold. For life. I’m in. In today’s episode I share a little bit about why I decided to go vegan and what about Gary’s speech convinced me to stay vegan, and commit to it for life. In the 5 episodes following this one, I will actually recite Gary’s entire speech. I’m doing this especially for those of you who simply don’t have time to watch a 1-hour long YouTube video. Huge thanks for Laura Marie of lauramarietv.com for taking the time to transcribe Gary’s brilliant speech. My #1 goal in all of this, is to begin a conversation with you. The conversation begins with a specific invitation from me to you. I invite you to at least consider moving to a vegan lifestyle. Through Gary’s speech I will lay out all of the reasons WHY I believe this is important in the coming 5 episodes. I would love to hear your thought process through this entire series. Email me your comments, questions, arguments, rebuttals and concerns. Reach me directly at dave@movingmillennials.com. I can’t wait to hear from you. Eilon, Noah and The Times of Israel’s Miriam Herschlag discuss (1) the sad passing of Nelson Mandela, and Israel’s ambivalent relationship to him, (2) former MK Avraham Burg’s spilling the beans that Israel has nukes, (3) the brouhaha over vegan activist, Gary Yourofsky. All this and grunge by Left, in honor of their new album.
