This week in the Men In Progress series, host Dave Casey is joined by Dart West, Greg Wright, and Mike Sherwood to discuss the ways Christians have gotten it wrong or unintentionally misrepresented Christ and what we can do to improve. The invention of the spinning jenny in 1764 upended the textile industry—and the women who earned a living weaving cotton and preparing fabrics in their homes. Suddenly, these jobs became obsolete. Just as the industrial revolution had a profound impact on how people worked and lived, structural forces are transforming global labor markets today, from slowing globalization to the advent of generative AI. The evolution of labor markets is poised to reshape the macro landscape in the years to come, posing broad implications across the investment portfolio. In this episode of PGIM's The OUTThinking Investor, we talk to three experts about the transformation of labor markets, the economic impact, and how investors can identify leaders and laggards as the world embarks on a new era of work. Our guests are Greg Wright, an associate professor of economics at the University of California at Merced and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution; Zeynep Ton, a professor at MIT Sloan and author of the book The Case for Good Jobs: How Great Companies Bring Dignity, Pay and Meaning to Everyone's Work; and Jakob Wilhelmus, Director of Thematic Research at PGIM. For more on this topic, visit PGIM.com to explore our Megatrends report, The Transformation of Labor Markets: Winners and Losers in a New Era.

Step into the heartwarming home of Greg, nestled at the end of a charming cul-de-sac in Lincoln. Although this serene suburban setting might suggest an idyllic life, Greg's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, as he overcame tremendous adversity to find his purpose, love, and the joy of fatherhood. Greg's life as an Marine's son took him across the globe. However, amidst the picturesque backdrop of his home, lies a tumultuous past that shaped him into the person he is today.Raised in Lincoln, Greg's childhood was marked by the painful divorce of his parents. At one point, he was sent to live with his father, who proved to be ill-equipped to provide the love and support Greg desperately needed. Eventually, his father's wife demanded that Greg leave, and with a heavy heart, his father uttered the heartbreaking words that he loved his wife more than his own son.At the age of 18, with his dreams of becoming a drummer at college, Greg made a bold decision. He left everything behind, including his drum set, and found himself working at a Florida Wendy's, earning a mere $3.13 an hour. Seeking guidance and direction, Greg reached out to his father, who advised him to join the Marines.Upon his return from the Marines, Greg found himself ill-equipped for civilian life and grappling with the lingering effects of his father's rejection. This led him down a treacherous path of drugs and alcohol, enduring a twelve-year nightmare until finally achieving sobriety at the age of 37 in 2005.Returning to his hometown of Lincoln, Greg's life took a remarkable turn. He rekindled a relationship with his grade school sweetheart, and their love blossomed, culminating in a beautiful marriage. Today, Greg leads a fulfilling life, working as a school bus driver for the local school district, cherishing the daily connections he forges with children. In his basement studio, he has found solace and creative expression, constructing a magnificent drum set and crafting instrumental post-rock music.Greg's journey is one of redemption and transformation. From his time as a Marine to his tumultuous battle with addiction, every experience played a pivotal role in shaping the man he has become—the devoted husband and father. Join us as we delve into Greg's remarkable story, shared through the lens of The Jar, and discover the power of resilience, love, and the pursuit of one's true purpose.Check out Greg's Band's Bandcamp: https://vector231.bandcamp.com/ For more of The Jar, visit:Website: https://www.thejar.live/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaTqB1dhDvl0Oh505ysdxTgFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/podcast.thejarInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thejar_podcast/Disclaimer: The views stated in this episode are our guest's opinions and do not represent the views, beliefs or opinions of The Jar Podcast. The Buzz 1: “Purposeful storytelling isn't show business, it's good business.” [Peter Guber, CEO of Mandalay Entertainment, co-owner of NBA's Golden State Warriors and MLB's LA Dodgers] The Buzz 2: “Good stories surprise us. They make us think and feel. They stick in our minds and help us remember ideas and concepts in a way that a PowerPoint crammed with bar graphs never can.” [Joe Lazauskas and Shane Snow, co-authors, The Storytelling Edge: How to Transform Your Business, Stop Screaming into the Void, and Make People Love You] The Buzz 3: “Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world.” [Robert McKee, Story Mentor] These wise words about storytelling impact today's Finance planning and analysis function, as the CFO's team sees the value of weaving a narrative around actual events, explaining variances, and providing guidance. As the role of Finance evolves to a strategic business partner, the team needs to equip itself with the right tools to be a great storyteller. Beyond old-school spreadsheets, they need modern analytics, trusted data and actionable dashboards so they can recommend and guide their organizations to make the best business decisions. We'll ask Brian Kalish, Pras Chatterjee and Greg Wright for their take on Enhanced Planning and Analysis: The Super-Power of Storytelling and Analytics.

When we really started covering financial inclusion and financial health here at LendIt five years ago it seemed that we had a very long way to go. Tens of millions of consumers were still left outside the financial system with no credit score and therefore had little to no access to credit. That has changed a great deal in the last five years. At the same time we have seen an explosion in Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platforms. Our next guest on the Fintech One-on-One podcast is Greg Wright, the Chief Product Officer at the Experian credit bureau. Experian has released multiple products and tools in recent years that brings the scored population of those actively looking for credit close to 100%. They have also just announced a brand new initiative, a BNPL credit bureau, which is key in their mission to expand financial access.Connect with Fintech One-on-One: Tweet me @PeterRenton Connect with me on LinkedIn Find previous Fintech One-on-One episodes
Only 82% of the US population can be scored using conventional credit scores. That unscorable 18% is overwhelmingly comprised of marginalized communities—and that extreme disparity is unacceptable in this day and age. However, things are changing. Alternative data sources are opening the door for lenders to offer credit products to marginalized communities in ways that do not create more risk. Lenders have tools at their disposal to drive financial inclusion today—not to mention boost ROI. In this episode, Greg Wright, EVP and Chief Product Officer at Experian, shares some of the approaches for broadening the scorable population while increasing lender accuracy. We discuss: - How new products are driving improvements in credit scorability - The consumer permission model in credit data - The regulatory landscape around credit data sources - Better scoring models built with AI and ML To hear more from Leaders in Lending, check us out on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or on our website.
