On Friday, the state of Minnesota ended its housing stabilization services program, which was intended to help people with disabilities find and maintain housing using federal Medicaid dollars.  In August, the Minnesota Department of Human Services announced the state would be ending the housing stabilization program after finding credible allegations of fraud.  Then in September, the Department of Justice charged eight people for their roles in what prosecutors describe as a “massive fraud scheme” tied to the program.  Now the program is entirely shut down. In Sherburne County, in central Minnesota, that means nearly 200 residents who were receiving services through the housing stabilization services program no longer have access to those resources. What happens to those residents now? Tony Masters, Sherburne County's Adult and Disability Services manager, joined MPR News host Nina Moini to share how residents have been impacted by the end of the program.

Washington Post Report: Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for military assistance as the U.S. concentrates forces in the Caribbean. According to the report, President Maduro requested help to strengthen air defense systems, including the delivery of 14 missile units, and the restoration of several Russian-made Sukhoi Su-30MK2 fighters. Plus, the overhauls of eight engines, five radars, and unspecified “logistical support.”7. A Russian transport aircraft (Ilyushin Il-76) has landed in the Venezuelan capital over the weekend, signaling heightened Russian interest in the Latin American country. 8.  Australian Navy Receives First Ghost Shark Extra-large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle.Australia plans to use the platform for stealthy long-range intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and strike operations.

The state of Minnesota announced it is shutting down its housing stabilization services program after allegations of widespread fraud. The Department of Human Services temporary commissioner Shireen Ghandi said that their own data analysis has shown that this program does not have the necessary controls to stop bad actors.The cancellation follows the in-depth investigative reporting on alleged fraud from KARE 11's A.J.
