On this episode, we spoke with students about the Space Farmers Club. Jackson Post-Vasold, Gabe Nix, and Russell Kalcec from Jefferson, and Margaret Hitt from Dow High. Margaret is actually the originator of the club back when she was a Huskie herself. As a member of the robotics program, the question was posed “can sustainability take place in space?” Which clued her into similar “space farmer” groups around the country, and inspired her to start one at Midland Public Schools. The group has been thriving ever since, and Margaret can say she left something behind during her K-12 career. Arkansas St vs. Northern Illinois College Football Betting Pick Prediction 12/23/2023 by Tony T. Arkansas St vs. Northern Illinois—Arkansas St lost a linebacker to the portal who was second in tackles. Northern Illinois lost their center and defensive end to the portal. Arkansas St quarterback Jaylen Raynor in his freshman season completed 59% of his passes with 9 yards per pass attempt. The Red Wolves can make big plays in the passing game. Huskie's quarterback Rocky Lombardi struggled in the passing game as he completed just 57.4% of his passes as a MAC quarterback. Inefficient numbers in the passing game. Past three games Red Wolves offense put up 37.3 points per game. Play Arkansas St -2.5.

Group Identity: What Kind Of People Are We? Wired: Brain Science & Spiritual Growth October 2, 2022 If you've ever driven Interstate 5 on an autumn Saturday in the Willamette Valley, you know that the freeways are often filled with vehicles decked out in the colors of the Oregon State Beavers or the Mighty Oregon Ducks. Beaver fans in black and orange, with flags, signs, and pompoms head for Reser Stadium. If you're a Beaver fan, I commend you. You're incredibly resilient. Being resilient takes practice, and you've had plenty of opportunities to develop yours over the years! And Beaver fans are loyal, which is another admirable trait. Lose or lose, you hang in there, cheering your team on. You know what it means to be a Beaver Believer and you are all in. Way to go. All kidding aside, the Beavs are off to a great start this season and I'm rooting for you...really... at least until November 26. If you're an Oregon Duck fan, your entire fall wardrobe is green and gold; you might wear black, but only with green, never orange. You don't even own anything orange! You only wear Nikes, and your favorite workout is doing pushups. You know a ‘quack attack' isn't a medical condition, and that it never rains at Autzen Stadium. And you definitely know what this means. And you...are...LOUD! Seriously loud! You know what it means to be Quacker Backers and you are HERE for it! Go Ducks!! I'm Chris Voigt, Lead Pastor at Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer, Oregon. We are in week 4 of our series, Wired: Brain Science and Spiritual Growth. Over the past few weeks, we've been looking at how God designed our brains and how that design impacts our spiritual growth. We've learned about two essential nutrients that we need for living a transformed life and this week we'll be looking at a third: group identity. Even in a culture as fiercely independent and individualistic as ours is, we all have a deep desire to belong, to be part of something bigger than ourselves, to identify and affiliate with others. And those with whom we choose to identify, shape who we become in profound and powerful ways. Whether you're a Beaver, Duck, Platypus, or even a Huskie... all are welcome at Dayspring. I hope you'll join us!

Frazier's Bio In his ninth year at the helm of the Northern Illinois University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Sean T. Frazier has guided the Huskies to historic milestones competitively, academically, and socially, cementing his status as both a national and community leader in diversity and inclusion and led successful fundraising efforts that have transformed the student-athlete experience at NIU. The passage of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) legislation at the state and NCAA levels, the proposed expansion of the College Football Playoff, and shifting conference affiliations, added to the significant challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, have seen Frazier take the lead on a local, conference and national level, and continue to adapt to change while setting NIU firmly on a path forward now and for the future. After https://niuhuskies.com/news/2020/12/15/success-redefined-a-season-like-no-other.aspx (COVID-19 shut down college athletics) in March 2020, Frazier directed the Huskies through a school year and competition season unlike any other, with a focus on protecting the health of NIU student-athletes while providing them with opportunities to compete. Through the pandemic and despite moving to a completely virtual format, NIU's two premiere fundraising events – Huskies Invest and the Virtual Victor E. Bash – enjoyed record-setting years. Two NIU teams enjoyed extraordinary success through the extraordinary circumstances of 2020-21 as the Huskie women's cross country and women's indoor track and field teams claimed the first Mid-American Conference Championships in school history for those programs. Their wins were the ninth and 10th MAC Championships won by Huskie teams during Frazier's tenure at NIU, the most MAC titles won under the leadership of any athletic administration in school history. The Huskies also saw men's and women's golf, men's tennis, and gymnastics narrowly miss adding to the championships list with second-place MAC finishes last year. Huskie football has claimed two MAC titles (2014, 2018) and entered 2021 as the winningest FBS team in the state of Illinois and in the MAC over the last 10 years. Men's and women's basketball have both broken postseason droughts under Frazier, with men's basketball making its first postseason appearance in 20 years in 2016, while the women's team earned a bid to the WNIT Tournament in 2017. Men's basketball claimed the MAC West Division title in 2020 before COVID canceled the MAC Tournament, and volleyball (2015, 2016), gymnastics (2019) and men's tennis (2014, 2015) have all been collected MAC Championship trophies since Frazier's arrival in 2013.

Welcome back to the Bill Bradley Collective, where this week we present our much anticipated season six premier with a profile of women's basketball great, broadcaster, business executive and philanthropist Renee Montgomery. This season is centered around women in sports, and there is perhaps no better subject when taking into account off-court purpose and achievement than Montgomery. A standout at the University of Connecticut and a multi-time WNBA champion, her on-court career is outdone by a second act that is virtually unprecedented for an athlete. Amidst the wave of racial unrest that enveloped the country during the summer of 2020, Montgomery pressed pause on her basketball career and later retired in deference to social and racial justice initiatives. Join us as we discuss everything Renee Montgomery has achieved in her post-basketball career: from her role in the Atlanta Dream's support of Raphael Warnock's successful Senate bid, being the catalyst behind the downfall of sworn Collective enemy Kelly Loeffler, contributions to the Black Lives Matter movement and her Atlanta community, and to eventually being one of three owners of the aforementioned Dream, those are just a few of the boxes Montgomery has checked in her brief retirement from the court. In a space where the content can often be dour and downbeat particularly in light of some recent episodes, the story of Renee Montgomery is every bit as inspiring and encouraging. A model athlete, activist, and executive, Montgomery is as impressive as public figures come, and makes for a true high note with which to kick off our examination of women in sports, this season on the Bill Bradley Collective.

2GG Podcast: Mike Wants a Huskie by Two Girls and a Guy
'Shout out to the van guy in high school. Every school had one of these guys who thought his van would get all the ladies... he was wrong.' 'I wear my fancy sweats in public, but never my Huskie sweats from 1997... c'mon now.' 'You should have to do a course before you're dog is allowed at an off-leash dog park.'
In this episode of the Viral Volley Podcast, No. 12 Washington Head Coach Keegan Cook and Huskie standouts Claire Hoffman and Sam Drechsel jump on the show to discuss last weekend's NorCal victories vs. Stanford and Cal. The crew then looks to this weekend's matchups vs. Oregon St. and Oregon and what it could mean for the Pac-12 race and an NCAA Tournament berth.
On November 14th, Jennifer Cohen, Athletic Director at the University of Washington fired football head coach Jimmy Lake after 13 games. The last time a coach at Washington had a shorter tenure was in 1956. Jimmy Lake, the successor to Chris Peterson, was supposed to pave the way for future Huskie's glory. A reputation as being one of the top defensive coaches in college football was a young up-and-coming coach that should have cemented himself in Husky lore for years to come. That expectation came to a stunning halt after 13 games. There is much to unpack with this bold decision. Was Coach Lake over his head or was this decision made way too hastily? Did Coach Lake ever have a chance to succeed here in the Pacific Northwest, or were there certain individuals waiting for the first signs of failure to give them the excuse to be rid of Jimmy Lake? A great discussion covering many avenues, thoughts, and frustrations. Disclaimer: Due to technical difficulties with one of the three microphones audio is a bit off, but it is understandable. Also, the other two microphones are completely clear. We felt it was such a great discussion that we posted as-is. Happy Friday folks! We're only six weeks from football. It's so close! With the season drawing nearer, we're starting our team previews this week. We have a PACKED episode this week! Before starting the previews, we open up the a block with a recap of this weeks' MAC Media Days at Ford Field in Detroit. The media voted on how they see the divisions playing out this year, with Kent State being picked to win the East and Ball State repeating in the West. Zach and Steve discuss their thoughts on each division. Did the media get it right? Let us know! Also in the news, we've reached the stage of the pre-season where the annual awards watch lists are being released. The MAC placed SIX running backs on the annual Doak Walker Award watch list, which is a heck of an accomplishment for the conference. Elsewhere, Kent State QB Dustin Crum was named to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list for the nations best signal caller. In the B block, we dive into our first team preview of the year, taking a deep dive on the Northern Illinois Huskies. The boys recap NIU's performance last year, while looking at the make up of the roster. This is still an incredibly young team, though there are some good pieces left from last years squad. New QB Rocky Lombardi will have a number of weapons on offense, with Tyrice Richie and Trayvon Rudolph on the outside and Harrison Waylee in the backfield. The defense also returns some nice pieces, especially in the secondary. Huskie fans, how do you feel about NIU's chances this year? What type of season will constitute enough “progress” for you? Let us know! To close out the show, the boys take a look at Bowling Green. Falcon fans...we're sorry. It has been a sharp decline for the Falcons since the 2015 MAC Championship season, and things don't seem to be getting any better. Coach Scott Loeffler still has an incredibly young team after losing a number of players to the transfer portal this past offseason. Zach and Steve discuss some of the newcomers on offense (two P5 transfers at the skill positions) and what type of season to expect from QB Matt McDonald. On defense, the Falcons switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 scheme with the hope of improving last year historically bad defense. They say that rock bottom is a good place to push off from, and it seems as if the Falcons are embodying that ethos right now. Signs of improvement this year are necessary, and would certainly be welcomed by the Falcons fan base. As always, thanks for stopping by this week folks. Have a great weekend, and we'll see you back here next week! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Welcome back, folks, we hope you've all had a wonderful week! Despite hoops season having concluded, we had a busy week this week in the MAC. We've got a lot to cover on this weeks' pod! First up, the boys break down some news from the hardwood. Earlier this week, Central Michigan parted ways with men's basketball coach Keno Davis after 9 seasons. With this move, Central and Eastern Michigan both have head coaching vacancies. We'll be monitoring both situations over the next few weeks to see who each school hires. Elsewhere on the hardwood, Jarron Coleman announced he would be transferring to Missouri, while his former Ball State teammate Ish El-Amin announced his commitment to Rhode Island. Not a great day to be a Cardinals hoops fan. On the gridiron, Northern Illinois hosts their spring game this Saturday, which will give Huskie fans their first glimpse of Michigan State transfer QB Rocky Lombardi at the helm of the offense. Leading off our weekly spring sports update, Bowling Green capped off an incredible volleyball season by capturing the MAC tournament crown with a 3-1 win over Western Michigan. It was the Falcons first title since 2012. As a reward, the Falcons will face Weber State in the first round of next week NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament. In both baseball and softball, Miami and Ball State have gotten off to great starts to the season, as they find themselves near the top of the standings in both sports. In baseball, Central Michigan has found their footing by way of a six game win streak. Not to be outdone, the Redhawks softball team has won 12 in a row. Men's and women's soccer seem to have been more effected by COVID-19 than the other spring sports. In women's soccer, conference leader Bowling Green is still on pause, and Buffalo is hot on their heels, only a half game back. On the men's side, Bowling Green and Akron sit atop the standings as we approach the homestretch of the season. To close out the show, Zach and Sam look ahead to next years' football and basketball seasons and give their “way too early” predictions for each sport. What teams do you think will surprise next year? Who will disappoint? Let us know on Twitter @MAC_Bandwagon! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
