Howdy folks! We hope you've all had a good week to this point. We have officially reached the dog days of summer, where baseball has wrapped up and football is still about two months away. But that's ok - we've got plenty to talk about to get you through! Zack and Zach open up the show this week by discussing former Toledo forward Ryan Rollins and his prospects in tonight's NBA Draft. Rollins, who was MAC Freshman of the Year in 2020 and first team All-MAC last year, is widely considered to be a second round pick. Despite concerns about his defense and outside shooting ability, many NBA teams remain intrigued by his athleticism and potential. Next up, the boys discuss the recently released MAC championship odds for the upcoming football season. According to the bookmakers, Toledo is the pre-season favorite (tell us if you've heard that before) with Kent State, NIU, Miami, and Central Michigan right behind them. The odds certainly reflect the parity of the conference, where a new team seems to sneak into the title conversation every year. To close out the show this week, the boys are joined by Christian Booher. Christian is the Sports Editor at CM Life, the Central Michigan student newspaper. Christian stopped by to talk Chippewas football and give his thoughts on the upcoming season. CMU returns a ton of talent, but also have to replace key contributors such as Kalil Pimpleton, Luke Goedeke, and Bernhard Raimann. In year four under Jim McElwain, the Chips seem to be positioned to compete for a conference title. As always, thanks for stopping by this week folks. Stay cool out there, have a great week ahead, and we'll see you back here next Friday! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

If it wasn't for today's transfer market, Michael Turner would likely have never been a Razorback. After four years at Kent State, where he earned All-MAC honors, the Ohio native decided to put his name in the transfer portal. There were other options closer to home … then he heard from the No. 1 team in the country. And Turner has been blown away by his experience at Arkansas, likening the fan support and atmosphere to what he's only experienced at college football games up north. Turner has emerged as one of the best hitters on the team, with a .298 batting average and a career-high seven home runs. And even though the regular season didn't end the way these Razorbacks had hoped, they're ready for the challenge of the postseason.

John Offerdahl: Living Life Off The GrillAn Official Miami Dolphins PodcastOne might find it hard to believe that a small-town Wisconsin kid could be come an All-Pro NFL linebacker – in Miami no less! – but that is exactly what John Offerdahl did. Offerdahl received just one Division I offer following high school, a partial scholarship to Western Michigan University. It didn't take long for the partial to become a full scholarship, nor did it take long for Offerdahl to become a four-year starter, team leader, three-time All-MAC player, and second-team All American. It was his performance in the 1986 Senior Bowl, however, that truly peaked the interest of NFL scouts as Offerdahl's goal line stops against Heisman Trophy-winning folk hero Bo Jackson helped him earn the game's Defensive MVP award. Don Shula's Miami Dolphins were impressed enough to use their first selection in the NFL draft on Offerdahl and he did not disappoint. In his rookie season, Offerdahl was selected to the Pro Bowl, named a second-team All Pro, and shared NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The Pro Bowl became a second home for Offerdahl as Shula's defensive captain was named to the all star game in each of his first five seasons. When he wasn't knocking down running backs, Offerdahl tackled the restaurant industry, building Offerdahl's Bagel Gourmet into a 10-store mini empire and eventually selling the business to what would become Einstein Bros. Five years after the sale, he re-entered the restaurant industry opening what is now called Offerdahl's Off the Grill. In The Tank, John vividly details his head-on meetings with Bo Jackson, shares how he handled an epic Don Shula expletive-filled rant, explains how a contract hold out also may have helped prepare him for the restaurant business, and discusses how his desire for, and receptiveness to, good coaching has shaped his life in many ways.Contributors to this episode include Sean “DJ Prec” Todd and Dolphins Productions.Theme song created and performed by The Honorable SoLo D.

Happy Friday folks! Another week down, another week closer to football season. Let's get to it! On this weeks' news segment, Zach and Sam talk about the bevy of contract extensions recently announced at Ball State. The most noteworthy are AD Beth Goetz and football coach Mike Neu, though baseball coach Rich Maloney, women's basketball coach Brady Sallee, and men's basketball coach James Whitford. In other men's basketball news, Ohio PG Jason Preston announced that he would keep his name in the NBA draft and thus will not be returning to the Bobcats this year. This marks the end of an incredible run for Preston in Athens, who won the MAC tournament and knocked off Virginia in the NCAA tournament this past March. Best of luck to Jason as he begins his professional career. In football news, the boys break down and debate the recently released “All-MAC 21st Century Team” which was compiled by Bleacher Report. Who was snubbed from the list? Who made the team that didn't deserve to be there? Zach and Sam both give their thoughts. Let us know what you think! Thanks for stopping by yet again this week folks. Offensively, Kotelnicki led Buffalo to ranking second in the Mid-American Conference in yards per game last season and set a school record for total offense in a single season. Kotelnicki has coached three All-MAC players and helped quarterback Tyree Jackson set the school record for passing yards thrown by a freshman. Before Buffalo, Kotelnicki coached at the NCAA Division III level for two years with Wisconsin-Whitewater, also as offensive coordinator. The two years Kotelnicki was there, Wisconsin-Whitewater went a combined 28-0. Kotelnicki also had stops at the University of Mary (Bismarck, North Dakota) at the D-II level, his alma mater UW-River Falls, and FCS school Western Illinois, as an offensive assistant at each stop. After a wild offseason in which he put his name in the transfer portal, he decided to return to Bowling Green for his final season of college basketball, making the Falcons a dangerous mid-major team. He is also has a chance at the MAC Conference Player of the Year. We thank Justin for joining us and hope all the best for him in the future!
