Passport Bros Gone Wild! Seeking Queen Treatment Abroad!

A new VICE documentary series, "Follow the Leader," explores the phenomenon of "Passport Bros"—men migrating to countries like Colombia and Jamaica in search of relationships and experiences they feel are lacking in their home countries. Host Jamali Maddix investigates this trend, focusing on the men's motivations and the cultural dynamics at play, highlighting their pursuit of what they perceive as "king treatment."The "passport bros" phenomenon is a contemporary social trend characterized by primarily Western men seeking romantic relationships with women in foreign countries, particularly in regions like Latin America and Southeast Asia. Driven by a perceived dissatisfaction with dating dynamics in their home countries, these men often cite a desire for more "traditional" feminine qualities in partners, as well as a sense of respect and "king treatment" they feel is lacking domestically.Economic factors also play a significant role, as their stronger currencies can afford them a higher standard of living abroad. The phenomenon is largely fueled by online communities and social media, where men share experiences and promote the idea of finding love overseas. However, it's not without its criticisms, including concerns about the potential exploitation of women in developing countries, the objectification of women, the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes, and the power imbalances that may arise within these relationships. Additionally, concerns are raised regarding the potential overlap with sex tourism. Ultimately, the "passport bros" phenomenon reflects a complex interplay of cultural, economic, and social factors that motivate men to pursue romantic connections beyond their national borders.Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.comSupport KOP by subscribing to his YouTube channel and search for King Of PodcastsFollow KOP on Twitter or Facebook @kingofpodcastsListen to KOP's other programs, Podcasters Row… and the Wrestling is Real Wrestling Podcast and The Broadcasters Podcast.Buy KOP a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/kingofpodcastsDrop KOP a PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=3TAB983ZQPNVLDrop KOP a CashApp https://cash.app/$kingofallpodcastsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depraved-and-debaucherous--5267208/support.

“I was told I didn't matter, that my only value was in being a good wife and “Achi-Bachi.” But I refused to accept that. I broke free from centuries-old cultural conditioning and trauma and created a new path – the Jamali Method. Jamali is a mission and movement to bring freedom and purpose to Muslim women around the globe; to empower them to break free of the chains of societal and cultural oppression, and step into leadership – for their family, community, and businesses.”Meet Eram Saaed, the world's #1 coach for Professional Muslim women, a catalyst for change, empowerment, abundance and connection bridged by Islamic principles with modern leadership.Born in Pakistan, she was raised in a culture where women's voices don't matter and are expected to be silent and submissive. After two failed marriages, physical and emotional abuse, and being financially bankrupt, Eram hit rock bottom. It was then, in her darkest hour, she discovered the infinite wisdom of Allah and developed a no-nonsense, easy-to-understand approach that has transformed her into a global leader. Today, Eram is trusted by and has impacted over 23 million Muslim women worldwide, empowering them to balance faith and freedom. With her daughter Natasha by her side, they offer guidance, tools, accountability, and support to help them achieve clarity, purpose, courage, dignity, self-love, justice, abundance, and freedom bridged with faith.Welcome to the movement.Abundance creates peace. The Jamali Method focuses on three foundations: Jamali Freedom helps you find clarity, confidence and independence regardless of past obstacles and adversity. Jamali Purpose helps you find your passion and purpose based on what your gifts are, even if you can't see it clearly for yourself at first. Jamali Leadership provides the tools and blueprint you need to be 100% committed to your mission, in balance with faith, to reinvent and restart. And there are five more essential insights in this episode that EVERY entrepreneur can benefit from, whether or not you're a man, woman or Muslim woman. KEY TAKEAWAYSEram was raised Muslim in a conservative and religious family and faced significant challenges, including gender inequality and societal injustices. Her first and second marriages were abusive, but the turning point came when she resolved to protect her daughter and build a better life.Without a college degree, Eram started at Chase Manhattan Mortgage and rose to become the highest-producing loan officer in her branch. She made $22,500 in one month - which laid the foundation for her Jamalis of financial independence, self-confidence and leadership. A sabbatical in Pakistan led to viral videos that catapulted her into global recognition, where she gained 100 million views in 60 days during a personal crisisShe then built the first version of the Jamali Love program upon identifying a major need. The Jamali Method includes three transformative programs: Jamali Freedom, Jamali Purpose, and Jamali Leadership.Eram's focus has been on building financial independence and purposeful living. He's a regular panellist on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, he gone done Taskmaster, he's a fabulous touring comedian and he's made some insane documentaries: Jamali Maddix is in the studio with Russell!  Let's get straight to the meat and potatoes about this episode - there's a fantastic story about the time Jamali had his Megadrive confiscated by his Mum. Also find out about his history as a paintball referee. Proper funny stuff all over the timeline. It's just a great hour spent with one of those guys who effortlessly spins great tales.  Jamali will be hosting a new documentary series later this year on Dave, called Follow The Leader. It's the kind of insane shit he usually does, this time meeting leaders of fringe movements and culty sorts. It will be amazing. There isn't a specific release date yet, but if you just watch Dave from now on, and never turn it off, you'll see it sooner or later.  He's also always touring, doing new stand-up and shows - find out about all that at https://www.jamalimaddix.com/   Hey - here's something exciting. We're doing three LIVE Wonderbox shows at the Edinburgh Fringe on 1, 2 and 4th August! Live audience, special guests, maybe a foam party? No OK so maybe no foam party but still pretty exciting. In this rich conversation, Dr. Sa'diyya Shaikh, Professor in the Study of Religions at the University of Cape Town, shares her personal journey of growing up as a Muslim in South Africa during the apartheid era and how this informs her study of Islam and worldview. With a profound interest in Sufism, Sa'diyya explores the intersection of spirituality, gender ethics, feminist theory, and social justice, illuminating how these realms influence each other. As a scholar-activist, Sa'diyya brings humility from her spiritual practice and a unique approach to liberation theology, motivating her to fight for the oppressed. She delves into the spiritual legacy of Islam, emphasizing how Muslims can engage with the Divine through attributes. Sa'diyya rejects the gendered limitations of the Divine, suggesting that Muslims can cultivate both power (Jalali) and beauty (Jamali) within themselves. Her extensive work includes interpretations of Islamic texts, Islamic feminism, and the embodied ethics of contemporary Muslim women. Sa'diyya also shares insights on balancing emotional and spiritual health with family and work life demands.Sa'diyya Shaikh specializes in the study of Islam, gender ethics, and feminist theory, with a special interest in Sufism. Her study of Islam began with an abiding interest in existential questions and a commitment to social justice – much of her work is animated by interest and curiosity about the relationship between the realms of the spiritual and the political. She has published on interpretations of the Qur'an, hadith, and Sufi texts; Islamic feminism; religions and gender-based violence; Sufism and Islamic Law; contemporary Muslim women's embodied ethics; and marriage, sexuality, and reproductive choices amongst South African Muslim women. Sa'diyya is the author of Sufi Narratives of Intimacy: Ibn ʿArabī, Gender, and Sexuality (2012) and co-author and editor of The Women's Khutbah Book: Contemporary Sermons on Spirituality and Justice from Around the World (2022) In her current work on ethics and Sufism, as well as in her own spiritual life, Sa'diyya draws on the inspiration, transmission, writings and teachings of several contemporary Sufi teachers including Shaykh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhiyadin (rahmatullah alayhi), Shaykha Cemal Nur Sargut, Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri and Shaykha Fawzia Al-Rawi.Support the Show.Find out more about Rose's work here: https://lnk.bio/dr.rose.aslanWebsite: https://compassionflow.comSupport Rahma with Rose so I can keep producing more episodes here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2197727/supporters/new Music credits: Vocals: Zeynep Dilara Aslan; Ney/drum: Elif Önal; Tanbur: Katherine Hreib; Rebap: Hatice Gülbahar Hepsev

LOOK OUT! It's only Films To Be Buried With! A REWIND CLASSIC! Join your host Brett Goldstein as he talks life, death, love and the universe with the hilarious comic, writer, host and podcaster JAMALI MADDIX! Below will be the original writeup for this episode which originally aired on 25th March 2021.  It's a really great episode as you will well expect from Jamali, but it also touches on some serious topics to do with his own near death experience in South East Asia, and some of his experiences making the show 'Hate Thy Neighbour'. Nothing too rough but as with the best episodes, it's a great mixture of tone and feel. If you missed it originally, you'll love it - and you may have also become acquainted with Jamali since the original airing so you'll definitely enjoy this. It's me on the intro/outro (your producer Buddy Peace), so don't be alarmed. I mean you no shock or surprise. ––––––––––––––––––––––––– As adept on stage as he is in front of the camera, Jamali has been insanely busy over the past few years and here's a chance to get up to speed on it all… From comedy to documentary making by way of ‘Hate Thy Neighbour', you'll hear about some of the many heavy situations he's found himself in, which he has met with good humour and logic. But damn. He's been able to weave out of being typecast though in some very smart moves which led him to Taskmaster, though not without some non-documentary related near deathe experiences along the way and all manner of mad stories to accompany. Abstract: High-density electrophysiology probes have opened new possibilities for systems neuroscience in human and non-human animals, but probe motion (or drift) while recording poses a challenge for downstream analyses, particularly in human recordings. Here, we improve on the state of the art for tracking this drift with an algorithm termed DREDge (Decentralized Registration of Electrophysiology Data) with four major contributions. First, we extend previous decentralized methods to exploit multiband information, leveraging the local field potential (LFP), in addition to spikes detected from the action potentials (AP). Second, we show that the LFP-based approach enables registration at sub-second temporal resolution. Third, we introduce an efficient online motion tracking algorithm, allowing the method to scale up to longer and higher spatial resolution recordings, which could facilitate real-time applications. Finally, we improve the robustness of the approach by accounting for the nonstationarities that occur in real data and by automating parameter selection. Together, these advances enable fully automated scalable registration of challenging datasets from both humans and mice. Copy rights belong to original authors. Krisis Listrik, Akibat Pengelolaan Batu Bara yang Kapitalistik Oleh. Wening Cahyani (Kontributor Tetap NarasiPost.Com) Voice over talent: Dewi N NarasiPost. Lily Jamali is a co-host of the California Report at KQED. The radio show covers a variety of topics about California, including the economy, immigration and education. While at KQED, Lily has covered the utility company PG&E, which announced bankruptcy at the beginning of 2019 after being found responsible for causing wildfires in the state. In May, Lily released an investigation about PG&E's Fire Victim Trust, which was set up to help those affected by fires over the years. Lily found that much of the money was going to overhead costs like paying lawyers, and a very small amount was going to victims. (Lawmakers are now seeking a probe into the trust.) Before joining KQED, Lily was an anchor for Bloomberg Markets in Canada and a reporter and producer for Reuters TV. She's also worked for TV stations in New York and Northern California. Lily is a graduate of UCLA, and she eventually went on to obtain her master's degree in journalism at Colombia, as well as an M.B.A. in finance from NYU. Lily gave shoutouts to Robin Epley, who came onto the podcast in May, Adriene Hill from NPR's California Newsroom and Aaron Glantz, also from NPR. Note: Lily was gracious enough to record her voice while she was in a car during a heatwave! About 20 minutes into the episode, she had to switch recording devices, so you'll hear a noticeable difference in the sound at that point.
