Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. The search for Hal Jordan's counterpart in the DCU series Lanterns is over as Aaron Pierre has been cast as John Stewart. Pierre won out against other frontrunner Stephen James after screen tests with Hal Jordan actor Kyle Chandler. The John Stewart character from comics holds a lot of weight as it was one of DC's first Black superheroes and is a fan favorite. You can catch Pierre in Netflix's Rebel Ridge and M. Night Shyamalan's movie Old. Disney isn't shying away from leaning into the projects that feel like surefire hits right now, and their updated release schedule reflects that. Both the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie and Freakier Friday - reuniting Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis - have 2025 release dates with Stitch coming first in May and the Freaky Friday sequel in August. Excitement follows both films, with Freakier Friday taking a look at a grown-up Anna, played by Lohan, and Lilo & Stitch featuring a blend of live-action and CGI that will feature original Stitch actor, Chris Sanders. Fandango announced that Wicked pre-sales, which went live last week for the November 22 release, are only second this year behind pre-sales of Deadpool & Wolverine. This also puts Wicked at the highest for advance ticket sales this year for a PG-rated movie and the third of all time in that category, standing up against Disney films Frozen II and 2019's The Lion King. Daniel Ezra who previously starred in Netflix's All American has joined the cast of Paramount and Edgar Wright's The Running Man and will star alongside Glen Powell and Katy O'Brien. Henry Cavill has signed on to star in Voltron for Amazon MGM Studios, a live action film based on the 1980s animated TV series that followed a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot known as Voltron and was adapted from several Japanese anime TV series from Toei Animation. Hit Netflix rom com series Nobody Wants This starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell has been renewed for a second season. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan who executive produced HBO's Girls have come on board as executive producers and showrunners for Season 2. Horror slasher Terrifier 3 opened ahead of expectations this weekend to take the number one spot at the box office, pulling in over $18 million dollars domestically, while Joker 2 had a historic drop off of 81% in its second weekend, only taking in $7 million dollars domestically. Radio Silence Productions is returning for a sequel to 2019 cult horror film Ready or Not. Star of the first film Samara Weaving will return for the sequel and Guy Busick and Ryan Murphy who wrote the original will return to write. AppleTV+ has released the first trailer for Silo season 2 starring Rebecca Ferguson. The series debuts on November 15th. The hunt is on for a host for the upcoming Oscars and sources tell Deadline that the tentative plan is to use an ensemble of rotating hosts and ABC has approached Amy Poehler, Dwayne Johnson, and the duo of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman about hosting the show. AppleTV+ has renewed Gary Oldman led spy drama series Slow Horses for a 6th season. A fifth season renewal was announced earlier this year. Prime Video has released a teaser trailer for season 3 of Invincible and has set Thursday, February 6, 2025 for the season premiere. James Gunn confirmed on social media Tuesday that Krypto the Superdog will feature in his upcoming "Superman" film. The announcement was made in celebration of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month this October. Sony has set a release date for its upcoming Until Dawn video game adaptation film of April 25th, 2025. Until Dawn is directed by David F. Sandberg and was written by Gary Dauberman.

Writer and Producer Jenni Konner grew up in California in a family who is “in the business”, but has made and continues to make her mark on television by writing and producing the most modernistic material that speaks to our times. The one-time partner of Lena Dunham is known for her slice-of-life stories, wit and knowledge of people, ability to identify personality types, and crafting characters across generations. Creating culture-influencing television with Girls, Konner continues to do something special with Freeform's Single Drunk Female, a fresh take on the rocky road to sobriety, one that is peppered with humor and filled with captivating characters---this time in suburban Boston--- that pop off the screen. On episode 104, Jenni traces her childhood, college years, and career path. We get a peek into her working relationships with her most creative collaborators---such as Dunham, Judd Apatow, Adam Driver, and producer Ilene Landress. We dissect the Girls experience and what came after, including her writing and directing HBO limited series, Camping. She tells us why former restaurant employees make the best crew members, talks intimately about the habits of writers, her affinity for working with actors, the importance of and continued lack of diverse stories, bringing back hard comedy, and how having a singular voice makes for a great writer. We talk what's next, including her upcoming project, Hulu's Immigrant starring Kumail Nanjiani, written and co-executive produced by Pam + Tommy creator, Robert Siegel. Jenni describes the vibe at Jenni Konner Productions, her editing process, and her expert opinion on creative partnerships. We get her take on today's television, on Gen Z, on how she chooses what to work on, and why she isn't a micromanager. Listen in for a lot of reminiscing about pop culture, about Lennyletter, and the times when there were temps. I met Lena Dunham in 2014 when I interviewed her for an online magazine about her book and since then we’ve kept in touch. She has been a huge supportive influence, also having generously given me a quote for my book. She needs no introduction really but here it is. It is safe to say she is one of the most successful women in the biz right now. Lena Dunham is a Golden Globe winner, best known for writing, directing, producing and acting in Girls HBO. Her first big break was in 2010, when her film Tiny Furniture and won the South by Southwest Film Festival's best narrative feature award. In 2014 she released her book Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned which went on to be a New York Times Bestseller (no surprises there.) In 2015 she founded the online feminist Lenny Letter with her creative partner Jenni Konner. They have an advertising partnership with Hearst and they now have their own imprint at Penguin Random House. Her podcast Women of the Hour is also one of my favourites which you should definitely go and listen to. She is an outspoken advocate for Planned Parenthood and speaks honestly and openly about her struggles with endometriosis. It was an absolute treat getting to hang out with Lena on a fun sunny Friday morning in London in her hotel room. Love this episode. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

These days UCB (Upright Citizens Brigade Theater) receives duly deserved praise for nurturing so many truly funny writers and performers, but the utterly hilarious Andrew Rannells honed his comedy chops in musical theater. His early turns in Hedwig, Avenue Q, Jersey Boys, and, of course, Pokemon Live! prepared Rannells for the rigors of performing six to eight shows a week. So when the brilliant brains behind South Park decided to stage a show on Broadway, they knew to cast Rannells for a lead role in their debut Book of Mormon. The result was a tour-de-force, career changing (and Grammy winning) performance as Elder Price. Just as Trey and Matt had seized on Rannell's star potential, Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner caught Rannell's in an initial Book of Mormon show and rewrote a part for him on their original HBO series Girls. Judd Apatow joined these comedian all stars ARFC (Andrew Rannells Fan Club), and encouraged Rannells to try his hand at writing as well. The result is that Rannells has expanded his...
