Drs. Tong J. Gan and Julie M. Mani discuss the article “Examining the Impact of the Human Microbiome in the Perioperative Setting” published in the April 2025 issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia.
Many of us spend our time in active addiction keeping secrets and staying silent. We feel like the WORST thing that could happen would be to tell someone, only to find in recovery that it feels GREAT to talk to others about the things we kept locked away. Guest Julie has been recovering on her own and recently connected with a group of other sober women. She has also discovered the joys of writing funny pieces about her experiences and observations.Get The Bubble Hour book, "Take Good Care" at www.jeanmccarthy.ca/booksJoin us on Patreon at https://patreon.com/thebubblehour
What is more fun than a sleepover with all your cousins growing up? Everybody camped out in the living room just playing...telling scary stories...eating hot dogs...until you realize that Dateline's Andrea Canning is telling about the sleepover night in question and that means something tragic is about to occur. And when a mom and Navy air traffic controller is found dead in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie and it'll take 20 years for some justice. Or will there ever really be justice? Is it normal practice to mow the lawn at 9:30 at night? Do Henry Winkler and Mark Harmon want to be excluded from this narrative? Most importantly, what in the Florida is going on with Greg's hair? Ever since Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, non-violent resistance has held a special place in the public imagination. What can be better after all than forcing political change without the violence that so often accompanies it. But the Gandhi and King stories are so powerful they can perhaps crowd out other aspects of non-violent resistance. GRO (https://www.facebook.com/soundofgro/?locale=da_DK) udgiver sit andet album i juni 2023. Varighed: 6:12
The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Julie M. Stamm. With a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology from the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Stamm conducted research at the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center and the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital. She's also a White Woman who was raised in rural Wisconsin in an area that may be a Racially Restricted Region (Sundown Town). She confessed to hearing Racist Jokes - even from her White family members - and sometimes chuckling. Much of the US kicked off the so-called new year with Monday Night Football's gridiron clash between the hosting Cincinnati Bengals and the visiting Buffalo Bills. 24-year-old Damar Hamlin was nearly killed on the field after a collision with the Bengals's Tee Higgins. Millions watched Hamlin receive nearly 10 minutes of CPR to get him "restarted." We'll use this tragedy to investigate the dangers of tackle football, especially for young children, in Dr. Stamm's 2021 publication, The Brain on Youth Sports: The Science, the Myths, and the Future. The text is intended for parents and youth coaches to better understand the risks of collision sports to the still-developing child brain. Dr. Stamm shared that there are reports that suggest black players are less informed about concussions/Brain Damage than their White counter-parts. We also discuss how the culture of tackle football (White culture?) contributes to obesity even while claiming to encourage exercise. This is the second time since Thursday where The C.O.W.S. features a book citing White Welfare Queen Brett Favre. #WhiteBallGames #LetsGoBuffalo #TheCOWS13 #Pelé INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

Julie M. Stamm, Ph.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. As part the research team at the Boston University Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (BU CSTE). Stamm has been involved in ground-breaking research with Dr. Robert Stern on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive neurodegenerative disease of the brain found in athletes (and others) with a history of repetitive brain trauma. She was the first to publish research on the long-term consequences of repetitive brain trauma in youth sports.

Today we're looking at protest by prisoners. Some of the most famous cases of protest politics involve protests by prisoners. Think of hunger striking suffragettes in early-twentieth-century Britain.Think of the dirty protest among republican prisoners in Belfast in the late 1970s, and then the hunger strikes there in 1981.Indeed, just two weeks ago on this podcast we were discussing Alex Navalny, Russian opposition leader, who remains influential despite being behind bars.Prison protests may be invisible to the outside world, but they can nevertheless resonate widely. And in this episode, we're exploring another case – the case of Palestinian prisoners – in particular, of Palestinians who are in prison in jails in Israel. We are joined by Dr Julie Norman, Lecturer in Politics and International Relations here in the UCL Department of Political Science, whose book, The Palestinian Prisoners Movement: Disobedience and Resistance, came out over the summer, and Dr Carl Gibson, Assistant Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham. Mentioned in this episode:IAS Book Launch: The Palestinian Prisoners Movement by Julie M. We are experiencing an unprecedented (at least in our lifetime) event as this episode goes live. As pastors' wives, we are stepping into a whole new arena of ministry and as a popular meme says, "and just like that, we were all televangelists." We are learning more than ever before that the Church is not a building and we are finding new ways to connect with our people. The creativity of Church Creatives around the world has lit up the Facebook groups I'm in and I wanted to share a few ideas on how we can continue to minister in this crazy season! This list is certainly not exhaustive, but I asked the ladies in the Pastor Wife Life Facebook group how they are connecting with their people and communities and I've compiled some of these answers right here. 1. Provide lunches for healthcare employees. (Andrea Z.) 2. Send out a daily text with a prayer focus for the day. (Julie M.) 3. Create a private Facebook group for your church family. (Julie M.) 4. Feeding kids in the local community. (Julie M.) 5. Feeding parents at the local children's hospital. (Julie M.) 6. Zoom Meetings (Nicole C.) Zoom is a video conferencing app that allows you to meet virtually and it's a fun way to connect. People are leading Sunday School classes, Bible studies, small groups, youth gatherings, discipleship, etc. The possibilities are endless! 7. Phone calls. Yes! Actual phone calls. (This is way out of my comfort zone, but I'm making myself do it!) A lot of our older members aren't comfortable texting and some don't do social media at all so a phone call to them means so much! We divided our church directory between the staff and leadership and are all making phone calls to our congregation. 8. Post Bible stories and lessons for kids. Many churches are posting quick videos from their children's pastor or directors. LifeChurch has a ton of free resources available. Other companies have waived their copyright restrictions to those who have purchased their curriculum. 9. Provide a packet for kids with worksheets, crafts, and other things to go along with the video lessons. Drop them off at homes. 10. Coronavirus Caroling. One of our members, Jenna, posted "this past Saturday, myself and a few other ladies went 'coronavirus caroling'. We drove separately to people's homes from our church family and sang hymns to them from their yards (a responsible distance apart). I can't tell you how many people stood on their porches in tears singing with us. It
