The Fulton County Jail opened in 1989. Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat says since the facility's opening it's been overcrowded, which over time has led to the current poor condition of the building's infrastructure. For PART 1 of Rose's conversation with Sheriff Labat, at the county jail, Labat reflects on his career in public safety and talks about why he's pushing for a new jail to be built instead of renovating the facility. PART 2 of Rose's conversation with Sheriff Labat continues with a tour of the facility. Labat explains why he believes the building should be condemned and shows Rose the building's kitchen, a flooded hallway, and both a renovated and a decaying cell unit. Today's Local Selection welcomes Cork-born, Limerick-based DJ and promoter trio Triad. The three are responsible for running a host of club shows and free parties across Cork and Limerick under their promoting outfit 'Equinox' and have supplied us with this week's contribution to the series. Triad first started over two years ago in Limerick having built a name through throwing house parties in college court before breaking into the Limerick club scene. Since then the group have enjoyed playing a range of venues in Limerick and Cork like Pharmacia, Dolans, Liquid Lounge and Club 061 supporting acts like Shampain, Dart, Prozak, Pagan and more. The group has also enjoyed 2 headline shows of their own in their short period of running and performing shows. Triad's collective Equinox is responsible with running over 10 sell out shows in Limerick since their inception, booking artists like Lb aka Labat, Shee, Derv, Chris Flannigan, Dart and so on during this period. They have also organised a number of secret coastal raves alongside Club 061 with plans to carry out more in the future. Moving onto their submission for the Local Selection, this mix showcases a variety of tracks the trio are enjoying lately, ranging from modern hardgroove cuts to euphoric trance along with other uplifting selections. This includes an array of funky bass lines and choppy percussion before venturing into heavier territory accompanied by ethereal sounding synths. Some artists which can be heard throughout include the likes of X Club, Chris Flannigan, DJ Swisherman, Dave Clarke, Edvinn, Quinnbond and so on for purveyors of fast-paced groovy dance music.

I just love how God leads us through our journeys and stuff. By that I mean when we're really going through it, and we take the opportunity to be authentic and vulnerable before him, He really does have a grace for that and oftentimes will speak his heart back to us when we're listening. Today's conversation reminded me that oftentimes on paper things won't make sense but when you're following the peace HE offers in the journey, while the world may be shouting at you one thing, it will be the peace he leads you with that covers everything whether it makes sense or not. Lauren Labat is a dear friend from years back and funny enough we have quite the history of fun interactions. From Basketball Maui to cheering her on in her recent and epic global adventures with YWAM, it's been a joy to watch from a distance the journey and adventurous life she has while also intersecting at points along our journey where we could often relate to the deep hopes and desires on our heart of wanting to impact the world for Jesus and hold a space for love and relationships to come. I'm so excited to have Lauren share more of her story with you today. She talks all about her new adventure with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and her love of Maui, where she calls home, too. Her desire is to see revival in the islands and she believe that God wants to meet people and give them a hope and a future and she's using her call to missions right in Hawaii to be a light right where he's called her. In our time today she has some really amazing and sweet stories and moments to share that will encourage you in your journey too, so why don't you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to… the places between! Lauren Labat is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Central Maui Area Rep Lauren is a former collegiate basketball player who has directed local sports ministry non-profits and has been coaching and teaching athletes since 2008. Her sport missions' journey began in 2008 when she joined Crossover International out of Denver, Colorado. Through Crossover, she was part of a team who traveled to European countries to put on basketball camps and preach the gospel. Serving with them until 2011 where she worked with Kids Across America as well as inner city sports camp in Branson, Missouri, it was soon after that her journey led her to Maui, Hawaii in 2013 where she became the Camp Director of BasketballMAUI for the following 7 years. As her journey ended with BasketballMAUI in 2020, even though she stepped out of sports missions full time, she served as a logistic coordinator for a docu series called Playing for Eternity (Angel Studios). Her playing, coaching, and director experiences have allowed her to confidently step into this next season with FCA and trust that God is moving in the area of Central Maui. Lauren's desire is to see revival in the islands and she believes that God wants to meet people and give them a hope and a future. “Hawaii is a special place that is dear to my heart. After living here for 10 years I consider Maui home and know much of our community. The local community has allowed me to become a part of their Ohana and I believe the impact we can have in our area will be greater than we could imagine. I am grateful to build a team that brings the Word and Gospel of Jesus Christ to these kids and families daily. I am trusting that God cares for these people and wants to see many come to salvation in Jesus Christ and to grow as His disciples. Overall, I am grateful for this calling and believe that God saves. Mahalo” - Lauren Join Lauren in this next season of life as she raises support for her ministry and gets to serve numerous people through your gift today. I spent more than half of my show agreeing with Republican politicians, y'all. Let that sink in. Fulton district 2 commissioner Bob Ellis went all-in on Sheriff Pat Labat's alleged mishandling of money in a fund meant for "inmate welfare" on things like soirees, party DJs and personal vehicle use. Now, while Labat - or for that matter anyone from his department - was present to speak to the allegations, commissioner Marvin Arrington ran interference - and also might have a point. Hear the exchange. Then, we learn the same Fulton Jail is housing inmates far longer than is necessary. John Albers (R - Roswell) pressed for change. Okay, enough gloating about Republicans; here's the pivot: posit that Fulton Jail stays often become prolonged stays with the very reality that Georgia legislative Republicans are pushing to broaden cash bail, and ... well, you get it. Lastly, let's go to the theme park ... at least, the biz. Is a Six Flags merger going to impact the patrons' experience?
