 Seguimos con la cobertura del FICG 40 y toca hablar no de cine, sino de series documentales para televisión, con la presentación del primer episodio de Marcial Maciel: el lobo de Dios. En la presentación, la cual fue encabezada por nuestro amigo Ernesto Diezmartínez, tuvimos el primer episodio de la docuserie enfocada en una de las figuras más aborrecibles y polémicas asociadas con el entorno religioso no solo en México, sino en todo le mundo.  La serie es ecabezada por Nicolás Gueilburt en el guión, Matías Gueilburt en la dirección y Sebastián Gamba en la producción, y conjunta recreaciones con testimonios de cabezas parlantes que ayudan a dar una mejor contextualización a una de las figuras que en su momento tuvieron más poder dentro de la Iglesia Católica, llegando a recaudar más dinero que el Vaticano mismo. El Padre Maciel, siendo una figura de gran carisma y habilidad para obtener recursos, no siempre fue así. Se explora parte de su infancia y crecimiento, pasando por desarrollos anómalos de identidad, intentos fallidos de ingreso a la comunidad religiosa, a pesar de contar con familiares que le apoyaban para entrar, y al final, fragando su propio camino que lo llevó a posicionarse como una figura de poder y manipulación. El desarrollo de la serie es dinámico, gracias a la combinación de recursos narrativos que aderezan la historia al ubicarnos en entornos situacionales cercanos a la figura, los cuales ganan fuerza con los testimonios vivos de las acciones. De la misma manera, el primer episodio comete el gran acierto de dejarte picado para que quieras ver lo que sigue. La serie se lanzará pronto en HBO Max.
