She tells Helen about the benefits it has for the cattle and the land.In the last few years, there's been an explosion in the number of community run gardens across the country. These bring huge positives to those who look after and visit them. However, new research from Aberdeen University suggests that sometimes the pressures of running such a project can mount up. Rachel went to speak to Professor David Burslem to hear more. The theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week has been movement, and on Out of Doors, we love nothing better to help clear our heads than heading out for a walk. Mark went along to join a group doing just that with Moray based charity Nature 4 Health. They aim to connect people with nature, each other and themselves, and Mark hears from some of those taking part about the benefits they feel of being part of the group.A new project linking up poets with farmers to shine a light on growing food has been launched by the Gaia Foundation. It involves 10 poets around the UK who each spent time on farms in order to produce a new poem. He told our Travelling Folk colleagues about his challenges, and we hear an excerpt where he talks about how extreme exercise saved him.And to round off Mental Health Awareness week, we take a moment to be mindful with a soundscape.

Overland Radio Show: Special Guest Mark Bruce from Red Arc Hey everyone, Lee here from the Overland Radio Show. We just wrapped up an incredible episode with our special guest, Mark Bruce from Red Arc. As always, it was a Tuesday night delight filled with insightful discussions about the latest in 12-volt technology and overlanding gear. We kicked things off by giving a shout out to our sponsors, including Overland Attic, Rugged Bound, and Midland USA. We also encouraged our listeners to share the episode and leave us a positive review on platforms like iTunes. Mark, joining us all the way from Australia, brought the heat with discussions about Red Arc's innovative products. Despite the temperature differences between Oklahoma and Australia, we dove into the cool features of Red Arc's offerings. One of the highlights was learning about Red Arc's 150 ampere lithium battery with an inbuilt heater, perfect for handling extreme temperatures. Mark explained how this dense power battery can handle a 2000 watt inverter on its own, a game-changer for overlanders. We also talked about the new smart battery monitor, which is like a fuel gauge for your auxiliary battery system. It uses an algorithm to convert volts and amps into time, giving you a clear idea of how much power you have left. Mark introduced us to the Red Vision Rogue, a compact and versatile system that can control up to 10 circuits and monitor two water tanks. It's a solid-state system with digital fuses and can be daisy-chained for more complex setups. For those looking to manage their power on the go, the Go Block was a topic of interest. It's a portable power solution with a 50 amp DC-DC charging circuit, allowing you to take your fridge and other essentials anywhere. We wrapped up the show with a sneak peek at the upcoming Manager 100, a battery management system that can charge large lithium batteries and adjust power draw from your vehicle's alternator. It was an episode packed with information that left us excited about the future of overlanding tech. We can't wait to see what Red Arc has in store for us next, and we're already looking forward to having Mark back on the show. Remember to check out our sponsors, and if you're at the Moore Expo, come find Ashley and me right outside the main entrance. Until next time, keep exploring and stay charged up with the latest gear from Red Arc! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/overlandradio/message

REDARC is a leading manufacturer of extremely rugged and reliable mobile power systems for everything from overland vehicles to sailboats and their equipment represents the state-of-the-art in this industry. What are “Amp-hours” (Ah), watts, volts, and charge controllers, and how do they function in an auxiliary power system? Mark defines these terms and provides us with the math we need to figure out our own unique power needs and how to effectively meet these needs in a variety of climates and conditions by optimizing our vehicle's auxiliary power system. Will solar panels work when it's cloudy? Do I need to worry about my starting battery dying if I am running a powered refrigerator? Will lithium batteries function effectively in cold climates? Can gas or diesel generators be useful? The questions just keep coming and Mark keeps up, providing us with the information and insight we need to build the most efficient auxiliary power systems for our vehicles, whether we're overlanding or weekend camping.See Full Show Notes HERE!Watch the Video Version of this Episode on the XOVERLAND Network HERE!

Join us for the latest Faith & Humanities Podcast! This episode explore the lineage of the Braveheart/William Wallace story and how it has formed masculinity and politics in the US church and our national politics in this talk from Dr. Mark Bruce: "Misusing the Medieval: John Eldredge and the (Un)Real William Wallace" William Wallace is the key figure behind John Eldredge's best-selling book Wild at Heart. For Eldredge, William Wallace is the picture of what modern Christian masculinity has lost and must recover. But what if Wallace's legend is actually a critique of the way Eldredge uses it? Join us alongside Dr. Mark Bruce as we dig into the source material behind William Wallace's character in Braveheart and explore how it's making points that run against the picture of masculinity that John Eldredge finds in it. Engage the conversation then on Facebook, Instagram, or via email with Rev. Sara (swilhelmgarbers@colonialchurch) or Rev. Christian (ccollinswinn@colonialchurch.org).
