April 20 2025 Sunday Your Words Matter / Week 11 / T. Stacy Hayes #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word. That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. In today's episode, Stasi Eldredge invites us into a powerful conversation about the freedom Christ has won for us – and the spiritual warfare that seeks to keep us from living in it. Through Scripture and personal stories, Stasi exposes the enemy's schemes, which are designed to keep our hearts captive and separate us from experiencing the love of God. “But his mother told the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’” (John 2:5 NLT) Even with John the Baptist’s hype, Jesus kept a low profile—until He attended a wedding in Cana with His mother, Mary, and His disciples. Hospitality was an essential part of first-century Jewish culture. The more lavishly a person entertained, the greater his social standing grew. Weddings were the ultimate test of a person’s hospitality. So it wasn’t unusual for wedding celebrations to last for days, with food and wine flowing all the while. Running out of wine in the middle of a wedding celebration was a worst-case scenario. But that’s what happened at the wedding Jesus attended. Mary realized that the host would face public humiliation and shame if word got out. So she asked Jesus to intervene. Jesus was reluctant at first. “My time has not yet come,” He told her (verse 4 NLT). He had not yet performed a public miracle. He knew that when word got out about His miracle-working, crowds would follow. And people would be less likely to focus on His teachings if they were just waiting for the next “wow” moment. Considering that Jesus hadn’t yet performed any public miracles, it’s interesting that Mary believed He could do something in that situation. She’s the first person in John’s Gospel to put her faith in Jesus. “Do whatever He tells you,” she told the host’s servants. Jesus rewarded her faith. He instructed the servants to fill six water jars, each with a capacity of 20 to 30 gallons, with water. When the servants dipped into the jars, they found that it was wine of the highest quality. That may have been the first clue for John and the other disciples that the rabbi they were following was something more than a rabbi. A short time later, Jesus and His disciples traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration. But when Jesus entered the temple, He saw that it had become a place of business. The Jerusalem temple was the center of worship for Jewish people throughout Israel. Many traveled long distances to worship and offer sacrifices there. But rather than bringing their own animals for sacrifice with them, many purchased them from merchants inside the temple complex. Several merchants exploited the opportunity and turned the temple complex into a marketplace. Jesus had too much reverence for God’s house of worship to allow it to be defiled like that. So He overturned tables, scattered coins across the ground, and chased the merchants out of the temple. And those—like John—who listened closely while Jesus disrupted business as usual at the temple, might have heard Him refer to the building as “my Father’s house” (verse 16). The Jewish religious leaders demanded that Jesus perform a miracle to prove that He had authority to take such drastic action. “‘All right,’ Jesus replied. ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up’” (verse 19 NLT). The religious leaders scoffed because they didn’t realize Jesus was talking about His own body. But John and the other disciples realized it less than three years later when Jesus rose from the dead three days after being crucified. — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Christmas at Bay Chapel | December 1, 2024Pastor Wes Morris Advent - Adventus: “arrival” or “an appearing or coming into place.”Romans 4:18-25 (NLT) Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That's how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah's womb.Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn't just for Abraham's benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. ✓ Where you place your hope shapes how you experience joy. Romans 15:13 (NLT) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.✓ Hope is confident and joyful expectation of what is to come.Romans 12:12 (NLT) Rejoice in our confident hope...Psalm 25:5 (NIV) Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. KEEP HOPING I. REMEMBER THE PROMISES OF GOD. Romans 4:18 (NLT) Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping...Isaiah 43:2 (MSG) “Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine. When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you. When you're in rough waters, you will not go down. When you're between a rock and a hard place, it won't be a dead end— Because I am God, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you. That's how much you mean to me! That's how much I love you!” II. FIND STRENGTH IN THE WAITING.Romans 4:20 (NLT) Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger...If it's not God's time, you can't force it.If it is God's time, you can't stop it. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. III. PRAISE GOD FOR WHAT IS AHEAD.Romans 4:21 (TLB) Because he was mighty in faith and convinced that God had all the power needed to fulfill his promises, Abraham glorified God!I Peter 1:4-6 (TLB) We live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead. And God, in his mighty power, will make sure that you get there safely to receive it because you are trusting him. So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while down here.

And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. Ezra 3:3 NIV: Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices. AMP: And they set the altar [in its place] upon its base, for fear was upon them because of the peoples of the countries; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord morning and evening. NLT: Even though the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they immediately began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord. They did this each morning and evening.

We've all had someone lie about us. But imagine that the lie is that you murdered a loved one. In today's episode,we'll untangle a mess of lies and unveil the jaw-dropping truth behind a murder that was all about revenge. Not toward the victim, but against a member of the victim's family. Welcome to another episode of The Unlovely Truth. I'm your host, private investigator Lori Morrison. Join me for another captivating true crime story, where physical, spiritual, and emotional safety takeaways are waiting for us. If you are listening, I believe you have a unique calling—to become a different kind of PI, not a typical private investigator, but a person of impact! This is Season 4, Episode 48. Our book this week is “We Thought We Knew You: A Terrifying True Story of Secrets, Betrayal, Deception, and Murder” by M. Williams Phelps and we're going to welcome back licensed counselor and pastor David Brannock as our guest for the next two weeks. We will check in with David again after we investigate the rest of the fascinating case of the murder of Mary Yoder. Last week we started looking into the sudden and shocking death of Dr. Mary Yoder. The sixty-year-old chiropractor had died of colchicine poisoning and no one knew how she could have come in contact with it. If it wasn't accidental, then it was time to start looking at suspects. Of course investigators began with those closest to her. Her son Adam and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Kaitlyn, or Katie, had both worked at the clinic with Mary and her chiropractor husband William. Katie was flaky and Adam was obsessed with her, but did they have anything to gain from Mary's death. One of Mary's own sisters called police and told them they needed to take a close look at Bill Someone else sent an anonymous letter to police telling them exactly who the letter-sender thought killed Mary. Adam, her son. As the author of this book wrote, “There are soul-sucking humans in this world.” The question is, how do we recognize them? We'll talk a bit a that with our guest, and in our Scripture for this episode We are back in Proverbs this week for our Bible passage because this book of the Bible is just so practical! Proverbs 20:11 NLT Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right. Do you remember me saying that when people tell you who they are by how they act - believe them!? I didn't just pull that outta thin air - it's Biblical. We can assess a person's character by the way they act. Katie could put on a good front when she wanted to, but her true character couldn;t help but leak out when she didn't get her way. She not only killed Mary, but think about the emotional damage she's done to Mary's family and friends. Let's all take a good look at the people in our lives and those close to our loved ones. Are they leaking out any concerning actions that might signal bad character? If so, are we going to set some healthy boundaries for that person, or make excuses? Our decisions can have a tremendous impact on our physical, emotional, and even spiritual welfare. Let me know what you think about today's episode! Humans without Christ are completely lost in their sins to the point that they can do no good. Sin affects every part of humanity: our will, emotions, actions, and attitudes. Romans 3:10-12 (NLT) As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”Unconditional Election. God chose Christians based on nothing about them. Election is not based on any foreseen faith in humans and it certainly isn't based on anything they do. It's simply based on God's will and choice. Romans 8:29-30 (NLT) For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.Limited Atonement. Christ's death only paid for the sins of the elect. In other words, the death of Christ paid for the sins of God's true people who respond to Christ in faith and repentance, but not for the whole world. John 10:11 (NLT) “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.Irresistible Grace. God effectively calls you because his call cannot be resisted, nor would you want to resist it. In the moment when God calls you he also regenerates you. This is the work of the Holy Spirit coming into your life and giving you a new heart. John 6:37 (NLT) However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.Perseverance of the Saints. If you are truly elected and regenerated by God then you will continue on in a life of faith until the end. You aren't going to be perfect, but you will continue to pursue God
“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12:11 NLT Even as a child no one love disciplining but at the end it shapes you as a person, always expect disciplining because it's not a punishment stay focused and remain positive!!!
“Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he looked at those around him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does God's will is my brother and sister and mother.””Mark 3:33-35 NLT“A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.”Proverbs 17:17 NLT“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”Ephesians 1:4-5 NLTFutureAndHope.org

June 25 2023 Sunday T. Stacy Hayes / Week 24 / Crucified With Christ #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. (English) In this message Ps Monty talks about how God reveals Himself in these 3 points:(Acts 10:34-36 NLT) Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. (35) In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (36) This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.(Acts 10:44-48 NLT) Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. (45) The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. (46) For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, (47) “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” (48) So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.(Acts 2:17 NLT) In the last days, God says, “I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.1.Supernaturally(Jeremiah 1:4-10 NLT) The Lord gave me this message: (5) “I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” (6) “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can't speak for you! I'm too young!” (7) The Lord replied, “Don't say, ‘I'm too young,' for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. (8) And don't be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (9) Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! (10) Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”2.Naturally(Romans 1:20 NLT) For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.3.Through His Love(John 3:16-17 NIV) For this is how God loved the world: He gave] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (17) God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
(Bilingual) このメッセージではモンティー牧師が神様がどのように姿を現すのかについて以下の3つのポイントから話します。In this message Ps Monty talks about how God reveals Himself in these 3 points:(Acts 10:34-36 NLT) Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. (35) In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (36) This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.(使徒 10:34-36 JCB)ペテロは話し始めました。「神様はただユダヤ人だけを愛しておられるのではないことが、はっきりわかりました。(35)神を礼拝し、また良い行いをして神に喜ばれる人は、どこの国にもいるのです。(36)イスラエル人に伝えられた神のみことばについては、すでにお聞きでしょう。全人類の主である救い主イエスによって、私たちが神と和解できるということです。(Acts 10:44-48 NLT) Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. (45) The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.(使徒 10:44-48 JCB)ペテロがまだ話しているうちに、聖霊が一人一人に下りました。 (Acts 2:17 NLT) In the last days, God says, “I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.(使徒 2:17 JCB)神は言われる。終わりの日に、わたしはすべての人にわたしの霊を注ぐ。その時、あなたがたの息子、娘は預言し、青年は幻を見、老人は夢を見る。1.Supernaturally 超自然的に(Jeremiah 1:4-10 NLT) The Lord gave me this message: (5) “I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” (6) “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can't speak for you! Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”(エレミヤ 1:4-10 JCB)主は私に、こう語りました。 (Romans 1:20 NLT) For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.(ローマ 1:20 JCB)世界が創造されてからこのかた、人々は、天地や、神がお造りになったすべてのものを見て、神の存在とその偉大な永遠の力をはっきり知っていました。ですから、彼らには弁解の余地がありません。3.Through His Love 神様の愛を通して(John 3:16-17 NIV) For this is how God loved the world: He gave] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (17) God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.(ヨハネ 3:16-17 JCB)実に神は、ひとり子をさえ惜しまず与えるほどに、この世界を愛してくださいました。それは、神の御子を信じる者が、だれ一人滅びず、永遠のいのちを得るためです。(17)神がご自分の御子を世にお遣わしになったのは、世をさばくためではなく、世を救うためです。

My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. CONCLUSION: WALK IN HIS GRACE 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 3) DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS IS THE ENEMY'S TACTIC Hebrews 12:15 (NIV): See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Text: 1 Cor 9:19-23 Summary: The timeless truth of the gospel is Gods answer to every generation. Because of the Gospel, we are all things to all men 1. We surrender our rights for the good news. 1 Corinthians 9:19–23 (NLT) Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ. 20When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law. 21When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. 22When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 23I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. 2. We live as stewards of the good news. 1 Corinthians 4:1–2 (ESV)This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful. Matthew 25:29 (NLT)To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. 3. We are messengers proclaiming the good news. 2 Corinthians 4:5–6 (NLT)You see, we don't go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake. 6For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20–21 (ESV)Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Luke 4:18 (ESV)“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed . . . THIS IS ALL OF US! 4. Text: 1 Cor 9:19-23Summary: The timeless truth of the gospel is Gods answer to every generation. Because of the Gospel, we are all things to all men1. 2. We live as stewards of the good news.1 Corinthians 4:1–2 (ESV)This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.Matthew 25:29 (NLT)To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.3. 21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.Luke 4:18 (ESV)“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed . . . THIS IS ALL OF US!4. We completely rely on the power of the gospel Romans 1:16 (ESV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.Jonah 4:10–11 (ESV). Series: The Four-Letter Word Title: Priorities: Work Date: 6/19/22 Location: Perris Valley Church Point number 1 in your notes: Just as easily as we can say no to family because we have to be at work, we can say no to work because we have to be with family. Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” Point number 2 in your notes: Being made in the Image of God means that we share many of His qualities, including the ability and obligation to work. Genesis 2:15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. Point number 3 in your notes: If your work priority is not in its correct spot, you are putting pressure on somebody else to pull your weight. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NLT) Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” Proverbs 18:9 (NIV) One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys. Point number 4 in your notes: God never designed us, or gave us permission to be lazy. Proverbs 14:23 (CSB) There is profit in all hard work, but endless talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 13:11 (NLT) Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time. John 5:1-18 (CSB) After this, a Jewish festival took place, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 By the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there is a pool, called Bethesda in Aramaic, which has five colonnades. 3 Within these lay a large number of the disabled—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been disabled for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and realized he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to get well?” 7 “Sir,” the disabled man answered, “I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I'm coming, someone goes down ahead of me.” 8 “Get up,” Jesus told him, “pick up your mat and walk.” 9 Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat, and started to walk. Now that day was the Sabbath, 10 and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “This is the Sabbath. The law prohibits you from picking up your mat.” 11 He replied, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.'” 12 “Who is this man who told you, ‘Pick up your mat and walk'?” they asked. 13 But the man who was healed did not know who it was, because Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. 14 After this, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well. Do not sin anymore, so that something worse doesn't happen to you.” 15 The man went and reported to the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 16 Therefore, the Jews began persecuting Jesus because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. 17 Jesus responded to them, “My Father is still working, and I am working also.” 18 This is why the Jews began trying all the more to kill him: Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (CSB) So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

Sermon Sync Notes - May 22, 2022Acts: The Church - A Church for Everyone - Jon Furman Acts 10:1-2 (NLT)In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God. Acts 10:3-6a (NLT)One afternoon about three o'clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. “Cornelius!” the angel said. Cornelius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. Acts 10:9a-14 (NLT)The next day as Cornelius's messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray… He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners. In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.” “No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.” Acts 10:15-16a & 19-20 (NLT)But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.” The same vision was repeated three times. Then the sheet was suddenly pulled up to heaven… Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, “Three men have come looking for you. Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don't worry, for I have sent them.” Acts 10:24-26 (NLT)They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends. As Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter pulled him up and said, “Stand up! I'm a human being just like you!” Acts 10:28-29 (NLT)Peter told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean. So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.” Acts 10:34-38 (NLT)Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. Acts 10:39-40a & 42 (NLT)“And we apostles are witnesses of all he did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross, but God raised him to life on the third day… And he ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all—the living and the dead. Acts 10:44-47 (NLT)Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” I Peter 5:5b-6 (NLT)…And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Let Humility draw you close to God. Let Humility draw Godly people close to you. Let Humility put you in your place.

Did you believe there were monsters in your closet or under the bed when you were little? Did you ever find that to be true? Has anyone ever said something about you or to you that you might have felt was untrue at first but then you believed their lie? (Like how you look, etc). I'm today's episode, I challenge you to stop believing the “noise”…to let go of past comments that others might have made about us. To not buy into the “monsters under the bed” who are not real. I hope each of us grows and realizes we are not what other people say we are. They may say things out of spite, ignorance, jealousy, anger, or just plain ugliness in their own heart. if it's not good it didn't come from God. I know I am who God says I am. God says I am good. Period. Let me say that again… I am who God says I am!! I know that God's word says that HE made me and knew everything about me before I was born. I know He promises good for me and that I owe everything to Him. I grow as a person, I help others and I follow my passion for working with others because I love God and I love me and who He made me. It took me many years to see that I was worthy and it didn't help when I had people in my life who called me anything less than that. What do you believe about yourself?? Just a few of the many scriptures that affirm who we are in Christ: “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4 NLT “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:10 NLT “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” Psalms 139:14 NLT “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT “For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT _____________________________________ PS. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. Sunday 6 June This Mystery Called Joy 6. To many, joy is not a powerful kingdom quality like faith, love or holiness because a joyful person is usually upbeat, happy, energetic and passionate. They might not have the serious, somber look but joy is amazingly powerful and most people don't know. That is why it is a mystery. Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NLT) Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. This clearly a picture of a failed farm project, yet this man is excited and celebrating God and he gives us the reason. He said, “My life is detached from things and connected to God, my power source. As long as my connection with God is intact, everything will work out fine” And he left nobody in doubt of his power source, he said, “The Sovereign Lord is my strength!” And the Book of Nehemiah 8: 10 says, “…the joy of the Lord is my strength”. So, if joy is strength and Habakkuk said “…The Lord is my strength.” Then we can also say, “The Lord is my Joy.” How can you say “The Lord is my joy?” When Moses asked God how to answer when he is asked who sent him to deliver the Israelites, God said to him, say “I AM THAT I AM sent you” (Ex. 3:14) God is saying, “I can be to you whatever you want me to be at whatever time as long as it's in line with His nature. God is our joy, the Almighty God is the All-sufficient One, so if we have the joy of the Lord, potentially we have everything we need. This is what Habakkuk knew, that is why he wasn't discouraged in spite of the failure of the farm, he was sure everything would work out well. And he was right, by the time we read the end of the story, everything was alright. He said, “God makes me sure-footed; he makes me stable, secure and makes everything balance out. He caused me to walk on my high places. When God is your joy and you are always joyful, you will discover that everything that bows to God must surely and eventually bow to you. God bless you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

I will sing the LORD's praise, for he has been good to me Psalms 13:5-6 (NIV) I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8 (NLT) 1. Trusting God's direction brings me to a place of SURRENDER. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:5-8 (NLT) May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 (NLT) Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2Corinthians 12:9-10 (NLT) 2. Trusting God's direction brings me to a place of REST. The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:1-3 (NLT) Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Psalms 23:4 (NLT) 3. Trusting God's direction brings me to a place of PEACE. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 (NLT) I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8 (NLT) Don't lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for His voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! We take a closer look at the verses in Revelation that talk about the end of the wicked. Discover what happens when God is forced away. The End of Sinners in Revelation: The Sixth Seal Revelation 6:12–15 (NIV84) Sinners would prefer to die rather than meet Jesus the Lamb of God. This is a wish for universal suicide. The Destroying Winds Revelation 7:1–3 (NIV84) God's angels hold back the destructive winds of earth until God's people are sealed. These angels harm the earth by letting go of the winds. They do not create the winds. The Torment of Fire and Burning Sulphur Revelation 14:9-11 (NLT) Even the holy angels and the Lamb cannot protect them from their fate. This is what it means to have God's wrath at full strength. God's wrath is letting people experience the consequences of their choices. “Forever and ever” means nothing is left when the fire ends (Isaiah 34:10) The Seventh Bowl Revelation 16:18–21 (NIV84) No living thing can survive this plague or bowl. It is the ultimate ecological destruction of the planet. The Punishment of the Prostitute Revelation 17:16 (NIV84) This is cannibalism. This is the end of the kingdom of selfishness or hedonism or the kingdom of this world. It is self-destruction. Jim Jones is prophetic of the end of sin with the mass killing of his followers. The end of the Jews in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem because of the hardness of their hearts is also prophetic of what will happen on the planet. Hitlers miserable end echo's this final destruction. The armies which turned on each other rather than attack Jerusalem in King Hezekiah's time mirror this final destruction (2 Chronicles 20:22-24). The Fall of Babylon Revelation 18:8 17:16 makes it clear that the beast and the ten horns do the burning. The Battle with the Rider on the White Horse Revelation 19:19–21 (NIV84) The rider has blood on his robe before the battle begins. No soldier holds a sword in his mouth. This symbolic picture is telling us again that Jesus won the battle at Calvary (John 12:31, Revelation 5:6-10). The Doom of Satan Revelation 20:7–10 (NIV84) The End of Death and Sinners Revelation 20:14–15 (NIV84) A literal fire cannot destroy death and the grave (Hades). The meaning is that death and the grave are destroyed. Judas' life and death are prophetic of the end of sinners. Judas threw away his money and confessed he had betrayed an innocent man and ended his life. At the end of time sinners have no use for their possessions, and they confess they are wrong and they corporately wish for death (Revelation 6:15-17).
The LORD guides us in the way we should go and protects those who please him. If they fall, they will not stay down, because the LORD will help them up. – Psalm 37:23-24 (GNT)As a human being, we will never be able to understand everything in our life. Life is full of mystery and we don’t have to understand or know everything. One thing that we should do is to seek God's purpose in everything, because God always has a purposes for our lives no matter the situation we are in. When we understand the purpose God has for our life, we can get connected with His heart and His mind. We will be able to understand which path to take and what choice to make. And I believe those paths and choices will lead us to the door of miracles that God has prepared for us. Remember, if God has opened the door who could shut it? There’s an overflowing blessing that has been provided for us.Don’t be afraid of uncertainty, since The Lord guides us in the way we should go and protects those who please him. If they fall, they will not stay down, because the Lord will help them up. Psalm 37:23-24 (GNT)The LORD went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. – Exodus 13:21 (NLT)Even when the Israelites walked in the wilderness, they had the mighty and faithful God who walked before them and guided them along the way. The wilderness is not always a bad thing, though we don’t understand where it will take us, but as long as we can find God’s purpose there, the wilderness can lead us to our promised land.Let us learn to trust God without any doubt. God is our shelter. And even if we fall, whether it's our fault or not, we will not stay down, because the LORD will help us up. “We need to step into certain uncertainty. Without faith it is impossible to please God.” — Craig GroeschelPrayerLord Jesus, thank You for your faithfulness to me through all my faithful and unfaithful days, through all my obedience and disobedience. Set my feet to stand firm in any uncertainties of this life. Help me to believe that in the uncertainty of life, You are the God of certainty and You are in control of everything. Help me to trust in You like never before. In Jesus’ name. Amen.Read the full devotion at https://devotableapp.com/daily-devotion-psalm-37-the-lord-will-help/
Sermon Notes:Psalm 42:5 (NIV) – Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.Genesis 12:2-3 (NLT) – I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”Romans 4:18-22 (NLT) – Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That's how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah's womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous.Four Reasons You Can Put Your Hope in Our Promise-Keeping God:1. God is UnchangingJames 1:17 (NLT) – Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.2. God is TrustworthyHebrews 10:23 (NLT) – Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.3. God is TruthfulHebrews 6:18 (NLT) – So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.4. God Keeps His WordRomans 4:21 (NLT) – He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.Romans 4:19-21 (MSG) – Abraham didn't focus on his own impotence and say, “It's hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah's decades of infertility and give up. He didn't tiptoe around God's promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said.
LEVITICUS 25:Yesterday we heard about the seven important yearly celebrations of the Jewish religion. Then we heard about oil and bread for the tabernacle, and then there was the example of a law-breaker who was stoned to death for his crime of blasphemy. PSALM 23:Today we read the most famous psalm of all. My wife has often said: Psalm 23 is so often quoted at funerals, but this is a psalm about living, not dying! LUKE 16:Yesterday in Luke 15, we heard the three-part parable of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son. There is much treasure to dig for there! Consider taking some time to reflect on that wonderful chapter. GNT Translation notes:Ps. 23:1-3 I have read this using second person ‘You’ for God, in order to make it clear that David is praying right from the start of this Psalm.4 [CEV 4 I may walk through valleysas dark as death, but I won't be afraid. You are with me,and your shepherd's rod dmakes me feel safe.//NLT Even when I walkthrough the dark valley of death, 1I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.Your rod and your staffprotect and comfort me.]5 You prepare a banquet for me, [right] where all my enemies can see me; you welcome me as an honored guest and fill my cup to the brim.====Luk. 16:6 ‘One hundred barrels of olive oil,’ he answered. ‘Here is your account,’ the manager told him; ‘sit down and [change it to//write] fifty.’ 7 Then he asked another one, ‘And you—how much do you owe?’ ‘A thousand bushels of wheat,’ he answered. ‘Here is your account,’ the manager told him; ‘[change it to//write] eight hundred.’ NLT Translation notes:6 The man replied, ‘I owe him 800 gallons of olive oil.’ So the manager told him, ‘[My dear friend, take//Take] the bill and quickly change it to 400 gallons.’7 “‘And how much do you owe my employer?’ he asked the next man. ‘I owe him 1,000 bushels of wheat,’ was the reply. ‘Here, [my friend,/0]’ the manager said, ‘take the bill and change it to 800 bushels.’9 Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make [heavenly/0] friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.
ZEPHANIAH 1-2:The concluding words of Habakkuk are the most often quoted and memorized, because they are so encouraging. That quote begins like this: Hab. 3:17 NLT “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines;”… yet I will rejoice in the LORD! Constable tells us that “Zephaniah” means “Yahweh hides [or has hidden],” “Yahweh’s watchman,” or “Yahweh treasured.” The uncertainty arises over the etymology of the prophet’s name, which scholars dispute. I prefer “Yahweh hides.” Zephaniah was very likely a descendent of king Hezekiah, and he was born sometime during the reign of the wicked king Manasseh, and was active as a prophet during the time of the reign of King Josiah (640-609 BC). Like Nahum, Zephaniah prophesied against Nineveh. He preached vehemently against idols. He also prophesied these important things: A faithful remnant will be delivered from captivity. The Gentile nations will be converted. One day people everywhere— not only in Jerusalem, will worship God (2:11; John 4:21). ISAIAH 56:Rather than commenting on the Bible translator’s favorite verse (Is. 55:11), I’m picking this section to remind you about of instead: Is. 55:8 NLT “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,so my ways are higher than your waysand my thoughts higher than your thoughts. How true it is that God’s thoughts are always counter-intuitive for humans! Take for instance what God says in this chapter: “Come to me. Seek me while I may be found. Come, I am offering eternal food and water for free. You don’t have to earn it.” Time and again, humans think they have to earn salvation. Another way we misunderstand what God offers is by saying that ‘free food and water’ mean that people don’t need to repent. Those who think that should read verses 6-7 of chapter 55 and the whole book or Revelation. REVELATION 10:Note that after some huge judgments in Revelation— such as at the end of chapter 6, the people on earth recognize God’s hand and react to the Almighty in some way, such as trying to hide from God. But in response to the plagues in chapter 9 the people close their eyes and refuse to repent of demon worship and all kinds of immorality.

Psalm 23:4 (NLT)Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
By Pastor Gil Dirmann Scriptures - 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV) - “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” “The Grace of the Lord Jesus” - Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) - God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.“…the Love of God…” - Romans 8:1-2 (NLT) - So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. - Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) - And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Galatians 2:9 (NKJV) - “and when James Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised” - Luke 5:9-10 (NKJV) - “For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." - Philippians 4:14 (NLT) - ‘Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.’ - John 16:12-15 (NLT) - “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’ Message Points 1. Intimacy with God is the process of Salvation -- we connect to Him more deeply through the process of Salvation. Salvation is more of a process than an "event" where our sins are forgiven. See Hosea, Song of Solomon, Eph 5 to see examples of intimacy with God. He's created a world where we can find Him and going deeper with Him. Paul's epistles: What God has done, who we are as a result (adopted, His children), therefore you live it out this way. This is a big difference from "works theology" something that we've been trained to live in fear of as Protestants. We contrast between two verses that people use to defend that "certificate" of salvation vs. walking out our salvation. Eph 1:4-5 (NLT) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. James 1:26-27 (NLT) If you claim to be religious but don't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. How does "participating" in salvation change how we live? We talk about our anxieties about Works Theology, and how to engage in love for others in the way that Jesus prompts us in the gospels, and the way James 1 does. Salvation is a relationship -- not something that we possess, but as a relationship that's transforming us. 12 Steps of Recovery are a process of sanctification or "working through salvation"... our behaviors towards others and in our life change as we lean in and accept that God is our "higher power". We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18 NIV 2. We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 NIV 3. We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 NIV 4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40 NIV 5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16a NIV 6 We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10 NIV 7 We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 NIV 8 We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31 NIV 9 We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24 NIV 10 We continue to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Corinthians 10:12 11 We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and power to carry that out. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Colossians 3:16a NIV 12 Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to others and practice these principles in all our affairs. Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore them gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1 NIV
We don’t like being left alone Cristiano Ronaldo: “I don’t like being alone.” Anne Hathaway: “Loneliness is my least favorite thing about life. The thing that I’m most worried about is just being alone without anybody to care for or someone who will care for me.” Jennifer Lopez: “I’ve always had a huge fear of dying or becoming ill. The thing I’m most afraid of, though, is being alone, which I think a lot of performers fear. It’s why we seek the limelight – so we’re not alone, were adored. We’re loved, so people want to be around us. The fear of being alone drives my life.” People don’t like being alone. Although some prefer being alone, because of the hurt that sometimes comes from relating to others, it is still far better to be with others in a safe, supportive and encouraging context. We don’t like being left leaderless Despite the moans we make about poor leadership, life would be a lot worse if we had no leadership. Imagine Man. Utd. without Fergie? Or a school without a principal? Or work with no management? After initially enjoying the freedom, what would result would soon be either anarchy or others, probably less able, stepping in to lead. We all need leadership, whether it is good or poor, and whether we like it or hate it. The Church needs leadership Much could be said about how church leaders in different denominations could have led their people better, not only in recent years, but throughout the centuries. By far the best leader was Jesus himself. He led his small band of disciples over a short three year period. But soon, Jesus would no longer be with his disciples. He was going to leave them. Yet, he reassures them that this would only be temporary. He is not forsaking them, but only leaving them for a while, before returning to them afterwards. It may be difficult for them, but Jesus explains that just like a woman giving birth to a child, the pain of childbirth is quickly forgotten (relatively speaking) when she is overjoyed by the birth of a new baby. Jesus promises that he will come again ‘“In a little while you won’t see me anymore. But a little while after that, you will see me again.”’ (John 16:16, NLT) Jesus does not simply explain that he is going to the cross and that he will rise on the third day. Although his trial, crucifixion and resurrection are imminent, his wording is deliberately(?) less specific, and can be understood in a wider sense, or in three such senses. You will see me – The Resurrection In a little while, Jesus will die on the cross and be buried. But a little while after that, they will see him resurrected, after conquering death. You will see me – The Holy Spirit In a relatively little while, Jesus will not only have died on the cross, but he will soon ascend to the Father in heaven. Yet, he promises that he will come back. Jesus speaks about the role of the Holy Spirit in a few places in John 14 and John 15, but he speaks mostly about him in John 16:4-33. Luke writes in Acts 16:7 about the Holy Spirit but describes him as “the Spirit of Jesus.” Paul writes similarly in Philippians 1:19 that “the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps us.” Jesus can be understood to teach that when the Holy Spirit comes at Pentecost, to lead, guide, comfort, and direct the New Testament Church, that it is himself who is coming back to lead the Church. Referring to seeing God, he has used the same words in John 14:9 previously to teach that “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” It is quite natural, then, to understand him to mean also that when the disciples receive the Spirit to lead and guide the Church, that it is Jesus who comes to them. This may be reading too much into the text, but then again it may not. You will see me – The Second Coming In a relatively little while, Jesus will not only have died on the cross, but he will soon ascend to the Father in heaven. Yet, he promises that he will come back finally when he returns to judge everyone. Jesus teaches in John 16:28 that, in the widest sense, he has come into the world from the Father, but he is soon to return to the Father at the ascension. If this is what Jesus means by ‘“In a little while you won’t see me anymore”, then it is only natural to conclude that “But a little while after that, you will see me again” he must be referring to the second coming. Jesus has not left his followers alone Whether it is the immediate resurrection from the dead, the intermediate coming of the Spirit of Jesus at Pentecost to empower and lead the Church on earth, or his future coming in glory to judge the world, Jesus has not left his followers alone: ‘I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.’ (John 14:18–19, NLT) Even if believers are abandoned by others, Jesus is always with us. Praise God for such love and grace, for his presence and leadership, both now and into the future. ‘And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”’ (Matthew 28:20, NLT)

Happy Easter! The Pastors and leaders of Freedom Church pray you find the love and hope that only Jesus provides in this special Easter message. We've always belonged to Jesus. (Ephesians 1:4) (NLT) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. (Jeremiah 3:22) (NLT) “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” “Yes, we're coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God. Title of Message: Found (Luke 19:10) (NLT) For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. (Luke 15:3-7) (NLT) So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.' In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away! (Luke 15:13) (NLT) A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. (Luke 15:17) (NLT) “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! Miserable times will reveal the condition of our hearts. (Luke 15:20) (NLT) “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. Are you ready to be found?
We've always belonged to Jesus. (Ephesians 1:4) (NLT) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. (Jeremiah 3:22) (NLT) “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” “Yes, we're coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God. Title of Message: The Searching (Luke 19:1-2) (NIV) Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. (Luke 19:3-4) (NIV) He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. (Luke 19:5-6) (NIV) When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. (Luke 19:7) (NIV) All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” The searching: 1. Have a past they're not proud of. 2. Have a desire for something significant. (Luke 19:8) (NIV) Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” (Luke 19:9-10) (NIV) Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” When the searching find Jesus they find: 1. The future they hoped for. (Jeremiah 29:11) (MSG) “…I'll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” 2. The significance they longed for. (Luke 19:6) (NKJV) So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully.
Goals of Coming Back Series: 1. To see you invite 2 people each week to church. 2. To see those you invited give their hearts to Jesus. We've always belonged to Jesus. Title of my message: The Lost o I hate to admit it. o I want to be found. (Luke 15:1-2) (NLT) Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! Lost people, like sheep are: 1. Prone to wander off. (Isaiah 53:6) (NLT) All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. 2. Vulnerable when separated from the Shepherd. (1 Peter 5:8) (NLT) Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 3. Unaware they are lost. (Ezekiel 34:16) (NIV84) I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, (Jeremiah 3:22) (NLT) “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” “Yes, we're coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God.
