The Plaza Theater in Atlanta will be sponsoring us for the next month (ending September 3, 2021). In that time, The Plaza has allowed us to give away 10 pairs of tickets to lucky listeners of the show! So, if you and a friend, or spouse or loved one is planning to go see a movie at The Plaza, let me know in advance and I will get you in FOR FREE. That is any, and I mean any movie, shoot me a message with what movie, showtime and those who will be going so you can see that flick for free!
The Plaza Theater will be playing host to the Sundance Film Festival this year, with screenings starting today (Jan 28) through Feb 3. Martin Kelley and Michael D Friedman had a chance to chat with Chris Escobar, the executive director of the Atlanta Film Society and owner of the Plaza to discuss Sundance, the Atlanta Film Festival and running a movie theater during a pandemic.

This week on Myopia: Defend Your Childhood, we try to convince Daniel that Alice in Wonderland (the book) is as undeciferable as the movie. We watched Alice in Wonder! No, not that one, or that one, the one with Christopher Lloyd, Gene Wilder, and Haggrid. No, not that one either. Please continue to rate and review us! We are on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and now Spotify and could use the support; the more ratings you give the easier it is for others to find us. Also, do you follow us elsewhere? Facebook? Instagram? Twitter? Myopia? Also, for those of you who are truly film folks, I have created a Letterboxd page! Check out what episodes we have done here! Interested in stroking my ego and seeing me live? Well, I am a member of Cineprov (or on Facebook), we riff movies like MST3K (which one of our members wrote for on Netflix) or Rifftrax. Recently, we have riffed Road House, Gamera: The Invincible, WarGames, Halloween VI: The Curse of Michael Myers, Troll 2, Rocky IV, and The Year without Santa Claus (see full list since the return in 2017 here). We perform at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta, the first Thursday of the month. Join us in March for Hanger 18! We are a proud member of the ESO Network! Please join the ESO Patreon! How will Alice in Wonderland stand when we put it on trial? Host: Nic Defendant: Thomas Panel: Daniel, Charlie and Matthew

This week on Myopia: Defend Your Childhood, we learned where June Lockheart was hiding. This week on Myopia: Defend Your Childhood, we forgot about Valentine's Day and while we hide from significant others, here is a movie! Phantom Troublemaker talks to director Jason C. Wilson about his new documentary on the Atlanta punk scene and one of its most notorious bands – Stopper: The Rise and Fall of the Bastard Squad! Jason Wilson was a big part of Atlanta’s 90s punk movement. Playing in bands like Round Ear Spock and Stopper, he contributed not just to the sounds, but to the experience. For the past four years he has been pouring his soul into a documentary film about that scene and specifically about the band Stopper and their troubled frontman, David Shumaker. Phantom talks to Jason about the tumultuous life of the band and being surrounded by drugs, attitudes, and violence; as well as the good times and almost family-like vibe of the Atlanta scene. There were good times and bad and the Stopper documentary covers them all. Listen in as Phantom and Jason discuss how the film came together and the massive effect that the events had on the lives of those involved. Check out the Facebook event page for the January 30th movie premiere at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta. Be sure to join the new Needless Things Podcast Facebook Group and get in on the conversation for this week’s episode! Let us know what you think! “Compromise” by Stopper “Procrastibate” by LeSexoflex.com
This week we keep it short and sweet (and buttery and salty). Larry and Chris (and Marisa) discuss POPCORN in this popcorn-centric episode. They also talk about concussions, Lite-Brites and hideous Christmas gifts. This week we attended the premiere of The Morningside Monster. We had a blast! Below is a picture of The Plaza Theater and the movie's star. Above, you'll find a picture of the slippers we discuss in the opening of this week's show. Enjoy!
