Relationships aren't always healthy and fun. Sometimes, two people who should stay far far away from each other start dating, and it usually ends in tears and misery. However, in this episode, it ends in tragedy. Shayna Hubers and Ryan Poston had a toxic, unhealthy relationship that was on again, off again. Shayna was obsessive and stalker-ish, and Ryan was abusive and manipulative. However, their relationship didn't end in a bad breakup. It ended with Shayna shooting Ryan six times in what she claimed to be self defense. In this week's episode, Zoey tells both sides of the story and together, Robin and Zoey try to figure out if Shayna was a woman at the end of her rope who freed herself from her abuser, or if she killed the man she couldn't have in cold blood. Messy. But first, Robin takes us back to Brenau University from the last installment of the 2021 College-palooza. Robin was able to have a phone interview with a student who actually attended the college and she told her story, which we mentioned in the original episode but did NOT do it justice. Episode 248."The Suicide Squad"Actor: Lynne Ashe.Lynne Ashe is a Georgia-born character actress known for playing quirky characters with big personalities. Classically trained in Shakespearean and British Restoration theatre, Lynne was primarily a stage actress until 2011, when she was approached by a stage director she'd formerly worked with asking her to audition for a film he'd written. She landed a supporting role in “Crackerjack” and thus began her screen career.Lynne was one of the first two graduates of the nationally acclaimed theatre program known as the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, a joint program between UNG and Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. Her graduate studies (in Theatre) were at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where she studied under the tutelage of James Dodding and thereby fell in love with Shakespeare and Restoration Theatre. Through Wake Forest, she obtained a grant to study for a summer in Stratford-upon-Avon with the Shakespeare Institute and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.Lynne is also a writer (poet, playwright and screenwriter) and jewelry artisan, selling her hand-make jewelry under the name “Ashelyn Designs” on Etsy.Lynne finds it ironic that the southern dialect she strove so hard to overcome/neutralize during her high school and college theatre training was the very thing that helped land her first few screen roles. She had to re-train an accent she'd formerly tried to restrain.Lynne is an advocate for raising awareness about an adipose-tissue and lymphatic disorder known as Lipedema, which primarily affects women, a condition which causes the body to create a type of fat on the lower half of the body which cannot be metabolized.Instagram: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Facebook: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Twitter: @DarekThomas or @mdmcriticWebsite: www.mmcpodcast.comContact: Mondaymorningcritic@gmail.com

The last interview with CBS guest—professor Chen Chen from Xi‘an Jiaotong Liverpool University in China, was held successfully remotely through Zoom meeting, hosted by senior English majors Yue Wang and Ningyuan Wang. The theme of this interview is “exploration and reflection”, aiming at learning Professor Chen's exploration process in her career, and encouraging senior students to seek their own interest and career path by trying bravely and reflecting frequently. “Honestly, English study was not my priority when I applied to college. I even felt tough to continue researching in this area after gaining my master's degree. However, I switched my path a bit and found passion in doing quantitative research in English teaching”, says Chen, who completed her MPhil degree in Cambridge University with distinction. Prof. Chen talked about her campus life in Cambridge University. “It was such a precious chance to learn in that beautiful university, what I gained from here would benefit me in a long term.” she said. Apart from sharing her experience about how she obtained the master's degree, Prof. Chen also talked about the difficulties and worries when she was facing the various choices of occupation. “As for my first internship, I went to a foreign trade company. However, I found that I was not suitable for this job and lost my interest after several weeks. Then I applied for being a teacher in a university. To be honest, to be a teacher was not my goal in college, but I am quite enjoy interacting with different students and witnessing their progress now.” said Prof. Chen, “Like most of you, I was confused and worried after graduation. If you do not have a clear orientation, you should try something and gain experience.” Indeed, exploration is indispensable for people to think things from new perspectives and gain new opportunities. The Career Building Series (CBS) project is one of the most important projects in EH 495 Senior Seminar class at Brenau University in 2020 Fall semester. Dr. Wenwen Guo, the professor of EH 495 class, invited more than 10 guests in total from all over the world, to share their career experience and give advice for senior students. “This is the first time that CBS project has been initiated in EH 495 class. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to interview and access these excellent people, listening to their career experience”, says Ting Huang. “The project also broadens our horizons, practices our collaborating and communicating ability. It's a very helpful pre-graduation project.” Written by Ningyuan Wang (Julia) and Hazel Wang, posted on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
The second career building events was a sharing online meeting for a young student librarian Page, Dianne. She is now working in the library of Brenau university, owning experience and big dream.“ To be a professional librarain must have a master's degree, but librarian is not a job that you need to have specific plan or dream, just try it. It is good for your future career,” says Dianne. Dianne Page, who serves for Brenau students claimed that her job is to supply more resources in the library and make sure every comers can get the book they need. “Sometimes I have to go around the different states to get in touch with the book keepers. Bring back the books is my job. Sometimes I am just responsible to open the door and close the door druing a day.” When we talk about the qualities a librarian should have, Dianna points out more than once that patience is one of the most important things. "You should have the right communication skills and patience. Because you're talking to a lot of people a day, it's normal for embarrassing things to happen, but I think it's more of an interesting experience." Dianne expressed her ambitions that she will try to learn more knowledge and have interest in working in public library in the future. At last, she enouaged students to seek for their real dreams, as long as they are what you want to try, just do it. However, librarians are still a good place to start. Written by Nora Ye on September 6, 2020.
In the first episode of the Career Building Series program, an outstanding alumina of Brenau, Professor Liz Wayson shared her career dream and experience with senior English major students. “When I was a student in Brenau, the teachers here made me feel the charm of being a teacher.” Professor Liz explained why she wants to do this career. She returned to Brenau to teach after completing her postgraduate study. Indeed, people may choose the career they want because of the influence of others. However, it is impossible to keep the career going just out of loving it. She also talked about moving moments she experienced in the teaching process, which are the things that motivate her to feel more confident about becoming a teacher. All things are difficult before they begin. After sharing the happiness of her career, she mainly discussed the difficulties she went through when she started teaching. “Patience is the most important quality you need no matter where you are in your life.” She gave a useful suggestion to students, which received warm applause from students. In any profession, people will encounter difficulties. We need patience to help us to break down the obstacles one by one. At the end of the program, she encouraged senior students to think carefully about what they want to do and pursue their career dreams bravely. Her smile and humorous words won her many praises among the students, which also received warm applause from audience. Written by Olivia Huang on September 11, 2020.

Today we discuss the scary question: Is there really room for everyone in my career field? Why do some people and industries feel exclusive? Is this needed and/or helpful? Topics discussed: -It's impossible to judge people's capabilities -Benchmarks & other judgements are only helpful when being applied to ourselves. -Why people are threatened when they see other people pursuing something similar to their path (but in a different way) & where these feelings come from -What exclusivity is and where it comes from -The advice Katie gives to those just starting out in photography -Why we should help & encourage others -What you can learn from a beginner in your field -Is comparison helpful and when? -Reconnecting with your sense of security: remembering your why, re-affirming yourself, and valuing your own journey -Healthy competition "Someone else's success doesn't de-value my own journey." --- Stream our music here!
