This week is a continuation of trying to give you the information I wish had when I was starting my rehab clinic.   These aren't only some of my most frequently asked questions but some of the most essential questions a rehab chiro needs to have answered.   Here are the questions I answer:   Is it valuable to start on a personal brand on social media before starting your own business? What platforms are best to find networking opportunities in your community? What marketing is best or should I do marketing if I'm an associate in school?   Whether it's networking or your personal brand it's important to know that one size doesn't fit all.   Some of you will have to use different tactics to get to the goals you want to achieve. But the principles will remain the same.    So be sure to listen closely because these answers have nuances to them that you should cater to your specific situation.   They are dependent on what vision you see for yourself and your practice.   ...   Thank you so much for listening to this episode and if you found this content valuable here are four ways I can help you for free: 1) Grab a copy of my free guide: The Rehab Chiropractor's Checklist: Click Here For Instant Access 2) Go ahead and give me a follow on Instagram @justinrabinowitz where I post business content 3) Subscribe to my weekly newsletter by sending me an email at coaching@strive2move.com 4) Leave us a 5-star review so we can gain access to more influential people and bring those lessons back to you

How do you find confidence when networking? Confidence starts with having a plan–think about who you are and what you want and practice how you will convey that to others.  If you've done that preparation, it will be MUCH easier to find that confidence to walk up to someone at a networking event. Preparation is key and once you actually start talking to people at networking events it becomes much easier to continue and meet more people. How do you know when it's time to end a conversation? And how can you do so smoothly Again, preparation is important.  At a networking event, you want to meet a variety of people because you do not know who you will find a connection with.  So go into a networking event with the idea that you don't want to speak with someone for more than 5-10 minutes, unless, because there are exceptions to every rule, you have a really strong rapport with someone.  Then, bend this rule, speak for a bit longer than 5-10 minutes before you move on.  To end a conversation smoothly, smile and tell the person, it was great to meet you, exchange business cards, and indicate that you'd like to follow up with them in the future. How can I follow up effectively without being a bother to someone? Following up is such a vital part of networking, but only if you do it the right way.  Follow up with a networking contact by reaching out to them with a specific call to action.  Ask a question about something you discussed or ask to set up a phone call to learn more about their practice area.  Send them an email and ask if they can make a recommendation to an association or an event.  Give them a reason to respond to your email. How can I best connect with new connections on Linkedin? To start, make sure that you are asking someone to connect and include a message.  If it is someone that you have met in person, reference the event where you met.  If it is not someone that you have met in person, explain the connection you may have with the person and why you would like to connect.  Maybe you graduated from the same undergrad or they practice in the same practice area that you would like to break into. How do you connect to your contact's connections? Ask if they will introduce you via email. If they have a strong networking relationship with this contact, they will trust that the student they are being introduced to is someone they can develop a mutually beneficial professional networking relationship with. How can you best network as an introvert?  Our top tip for this is to take it in slow measurable steps.  Don't commit to more than one networking event in a week. Give yourself the time to regroup.  How do you find time to network? The beauty of having a plan of how and when you will network will help you budget your time.  But in order to maximize your time and your efforts it is critical to have a plan that you can simply implement.  The Law Student's Guide to Networking gives you the tools to execute a strategic networking plan and build a network that will serve you throughout your career. If you would like to see us at your law school send this blog post over to your law school's career services office.  We love the opportunity to actually meet and connect with law students and share The Law Student's Guide to Networking.Nothing contained within this podcast is intended or should be construed to be legal advice and does not create any attorney client relationship.  Please keep in mind that your jurisdiction will have rules of professional conduct that you must follow.  This discussion does not focus on the any such rules, including the rules from the jurisdiction where we practice.

The massive shift to distance learning during the pandemic cast a sweeping spotlight on the challenges U.S. school systems continue to face trying to ensure every student has equitable access to online learning resources. “There have been a number of new reports about this challenge, and every one seems to find that the problem is bigger than what we first thought. Not only are there [students who are] unconnected, but they're under-connected,” meaning their upload speeds can't keep up with online classroom interaction, says Keith Krueger, CEO of the CoSN, the Consortium for School Networking. Never has there been so great of a disruption in education than the past school year. Likewise, never has there been such an opportunity going forward, according to Keith Kreuger, CEO for the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN). In this episode, Keith follows the money and lays out specific steps the industry can take to ensure that lofty ideas like digital equity and personalized learning turn into practical realities as soon as possible.More than 80 education technology leaders from 37 states this spring virtually for meetings in Washington, D.C. with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Education (ED) policymakers to discuss their COVID-19 pandemic experiences and advocate for actionable policies that support digital learning. This was the second of a two-part 2021 virtual advocacy fly-in and happened just as President Biden announced a more than 40 percent increase in ED base funding as part of his $1.5 trillion budget and schools across the country prepare to utilize the $7.1 billion that was allocated to the FCC for a new Emergency Connectivity Fund in the latest COVID-19 relief package. In the first part during February, participants spoke with Members of Congress and their staff about how to safely transition to a post-pandemic world, connect all students and close the “homework gap,” fund professional development to help educators leverage technology for learning, and protect student data privacy. The conversation continued on Wednesday, April 14, as the group met with the FCC regarding student connectivity needs and talked to senior ED staff about the implementation of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) and annual funding to support digital learning.Key outcomes from these discussions include:Federal leaders learned about state and local strategies and need to connect students to broadband and equip them with learning devices during, and beyond, the pandemic;Summit participants learned about the ED's plans for supporting the implementation of the ARP; andCollaboration among local, state, and federal leaders to meet students' and educators' digital learning needs increased.“We are thrilled to see Congress, the Department of Education and the FCC taking action to help close the homework chasm that students and teachers nationwide continue to face. Our virtual fly-in participants were keen to discuss everything from student data privacy to professional development funding with these key policymakers to help shape edtech policy moving forward and advocate for equitable access to advanced learning technologies,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN.“The American Rescue Plan's investment in the education system and the President's FY22 budget request provide an unprecedented opportunity for leaders and educators to envision a new, post-pandemic era that leverages technology as an essential vehicle for effective learning and equitable supports. ISTE, our partner organizations and virtual fly-in participants look forward to continuing to collaborate with federal policymakers on these issues,” said Ji Soo Song, Senior Policy Advisor at ISTE.“Connecting all students and teachers to digital learning opportunities — no matter where they live — has been, and will remain, a top priority for SETDA's members. Now more than ever, we need strong local-state-federal partnerships focused on closing the digital divide once and for all. Our members deeply appreciate this invaluable annual opportunity to exchange ideas with SETDA's school district and federal partners,” said Julia Fallon, Executive Director of SETDA.“SIIA and our education technology member companies are thrilled to partner with CoSN, ISTE and SEDTA to bring our real-world experiences of the past year to Congress, the Department of Education and the Federal Communications Commission. Throughout the pandemic, our members stepped up to provide the tools to facilitate the rapid switch to distance learning, the transition to hybrid learning and the switch to safe learning in the classroom. We are thankful that policymakers have been so responsive to the needs of learners, educators and edtech providers by passing the American Rescue Plan and other relief bills over the past year. We look forward to continued collaboration as these laws are implemented and we address longstanding inequities exacerbated by the pandemic,” said SIIA President Jeff Joseph. This year's annual summit, led by CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking), ISTE (the International Society for Technology in Education), SETDA (the State Educational Technology Directors Association) and SIIA (the Software & Information Industry Association), took place virtually for the second year in a row due to the impact of COVID-19.

In an increasingly fast paced world, the ability to learn effectively is the most important skill. Throughout a person's life they are expected to have several careers, some of which may be unimaginable when they were going to school. Lifelong learning is an essential part of the modern world. But what does lifelong learning really look like? Mostly people take courses or spend time learning a new skill when they need it, either for their current job or to train for the job they want. In this episode we will discuss why this model needs to change and how we all need to think about lifelong learning as constant capacity building. What does this mean for the individual, educational institutions and workplace learning? My guest today is a leading expert in developing new types of educational systems to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.   Prof Chris Dede is the Timothy E. Wirth Professor in Learning Technologies at Harvard's Graduate School of Education. His research spans emerging technologies for learning, infusing technology into large-scale educational improvement initiatives, developing policies that support educational transformation, and providing leadership in educational innovation. Chris has received many awards for his contribution to the field. To just name a few, in 2017 he was named as one of the top 25 edtech innovators of the past 25 years by the Consortium for School Networking, and in the same year he received the Outstanding Contributions to Research in Immersive Learning Award by the American Educational Research Association. In 2011 he was named a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association. Chris was also recognized by Harvard University as an outstanding teacher, something I was lucky to experience first hand during my master's degree. Chris shares his wealth of knowledge with his students not only in his very popular classes but also as a mentor. Having Chris as my supervisor during my masters, and working on one of his research projects, paved the way towards my doctoral studies. Amy discusses solutions some schools have come up with, why different age groups are better suited for virtual learning than others, why funding formulas are challenging, and her biggest concern with online education moving forward during COVID-19.Our cybersecurity headlines segment includes some scary news about email vulnerabilities, a GandCrabber getting caught, and updates on the Twitter hack and WastedLocker ransomware stories from our previous episode.Read along:Decades-Old Email Flaws Could Let Attackers Mask Their Identitieshttps://www.wired.com/story/decades-old-email-flaws-could-let-attackers-mask-identities/GandCrab ransomware hacker arrested in Belarushttps://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2020/08/04/gandcrab-ransomware-hacker-arrested-in-belarus/Tampa teenager accused in Twitter hack pleads not guiltyhttps://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/tampa-teenager-accused-twitter-hack-pleads-guilty-72168491WastedLocker Ransomware abuses Windows feature to avoid detectionhttps://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/wastedlocker-ransomware-abuses-windows-feature-to-evade-detection/Get info on all things network security through our new, improved blog, https://firewalls.com/blog.And please do reach out, as we want to hear from you. Sara Carioscia, who joined a triathlon without knowing how to ride a bike, talks about networking and life. Get more great insights @ https://alexandertitus.com/newsletter. (0:10) She's also a trailblazer with me kicking off the first episode of Titus Talks! (0:40) In this episode of Titus Talks, we're chatting with Sara Carioscia, who's a PhD student at Johns Hopkins University, an overall lover of life, and a huge proponent of empowering others. (3:15) Today we're talking about networking and putting ourselves out there to meet people and grow in our careers. For anyone, whether you're an undergrad, new grad, grad student, or CEO, meeting new people can be intimidating. (7:00) One of the big questions we're tackling is, what if you don't feel like you have anything to offer to the conversation? Too often we sell ourselves short when we're out there networking and think we need to be the fanciest person in the room for anyone to take us seriously. The reality is just the opposite. (15:15) We're also talking about grad school, life, and our love for biotech. Sara's a PhD student in the JHU Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology, and Biophysics Program (phew, that's a mouthful) (https://cmdb.jhu.edu/) and is passionate about getting into biotech both in school and throughout her career. (26:00) On top of it all, Sara is a triathlete, a cyclist, and the kind of person that puts herself out there for adventures. She did, in fact, join the triathlon team in college before she ever knew how to ride a bike! That takes the spirit of trying new things to a whole new level. I hope you enjoy the conversation! During the 13th Annual K-12 School Networking Conference of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) held in Washington, DC in March 2008, Cable in the Classroom helped moderate a panel discussion on Developing 21st Century Skills in School and District Leaders. CoSN is the country’s premier voice for K-12 education leaders who use technology strategically to improve teaching and learning.Members of the panel discussed the 2007 revised framework of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, which offers a vision for educational technology leaders.
