For this episode of Beat of the Month we take a look at the rest of the year and what games are coming out that deserve the hype game treatment! Of course, it's all bullshit because Brian wasn't on the episode. These fools talk about GTA 6 like it's a gift sent from heaven and yet as they discuss, none of them have even played any of the games since GTA 3, and they didn't even play that game much. Then they somehow leave out the biggest game of the year, Ocarina of Time Remake, and don't even mention it. Unbelievable. They do happen to get some things right with discussion about Silent Hill Townfall that they give about 30 seconds to and then the new Castlevania game which should be pretty good. Wolverine getting a bit too much hype train treatment but as you all know hype train gonna do what it does best. No one reads this bullshit anyway so I can say whatever I want here. I got a chance to go hands-on with Silent Hill: Townfall at a private preview event in LA, and I have to say — this one is something special. Three hours with the game, a decorated hotel setup themed around the Scottish town of Saint Amelia, and a live Q&A with writer/director Jon McLennan from ScreenBurn and series producer Akimoto-san from Konami. Yeah, it was that kind of event.This episode is my full breakdown of what I saw, what surprised me, and why I think this might be one of the most important Silent Hill games ever made.We talk the first-person perspective shift and why it works, the CRTV mechanic that replaces the classic radio in the freshest way possible, the gyroscopic DualSense puzzle design, the 2.35:1 cinemascope presentation, and the five endings — including some secret ones. Silent Hill Townfall Impressions with special guest Brittney Brombacher.

At Summer Game Fest 2026 I went hands-on with Annapurna's lineup, and there's a lot to be excited about — starting with my most anticipated of the show, Silent Hill: Townfall.Townfall makes a bold move from third-person to first-person horror on Unreal Engine 5, with one-to-one scale, a CRT-style signal device, and a no-HUD design where your character's thoughts surface as on-screen text — and it looks gorgeous. Then The Lost Wild from Giant Ape flips the script on dinosaur games with an “anti-kill,” stealth-survival approach that treats dinosaurs as creatures rather than enemies, plus a supernatural twist. And Demi rounds it out as a cute, casual, Zelda-esque dungeon crawler.

What a week! Our jam-packed episode of Sacred Symbols covers all of the announcements from both Sony's State of Play presentation, as well as Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest showcase. And let's just say, there's a ton to get through. State of Play's 25 game roster included a fresh, expanded look at Wolverine, the reveal of Firesprite's long-rumored Until Dawn 2, and the confirmation of a brand new God of War game in the form of Laufey (plus a ton of third-party stuff, including Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, Phantom Blade 0, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and more). Geoff's show went even harder, with a full 53 games displayed, including the culmination of the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga in the form of Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the always-assumed Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake en route in 2027, two new Cuphead titles, the Stellar Blade sequel Blood Rain, and so on. We have other news this week, too -- MMORPG Horizon: Steel Frontiers has been delayed, California's legislature is going after developers and publishers who delist games, Fable has been delayed until next year, and so on -- but really, the meat of the show is all about these E3-like pressers.
