This week I welcome my good friend Jimmy Keegan (formerly of Spocks Beard) to talk about his brand new record "Jimmy Keegan", the making of it, the covers, how it came about, the players, then we get into his acting career in iconic films like "Over The Top", "Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo", and his role as the voice of Sherman Peabody in "Back To The Future" and you're damn right, I was able to get KISS into the conversation with someone from the Prog World as I grill him on the importance of Peter Criss and Ringo Starr.......of course we talk Cruise To The Edge as well. AMERICAN PROG ROCK SUPERGROUP PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘SPOOKY ACTION AT A DISTANCE' Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2019, Los Angeles-based quartet Pattern-Seeking Animals have been one of the prog scene's most prolific outfits. Formed from members of the influential group Spock's Beard, Pattern-Seeking Animals (P-SA) has staked claim to its own identity, forging a new path in the prog scene. Named after a quote about human behavior from science historian Michael Shermer, PS-A is John Boegehold (keyboards and production), Ted Leonard (lead vocals and guitar), bassist Dave Meros, and the energetic and talented Jimmy Keegan on drums. Boegehold, known for his film scores and innovative prog compositions, initially formed the group due to the desire to find a home for material that was not quite the right fit for Spock's Beard. Sessions took place with Leonard, Meros and Keegan, and P-SA was born. Ever since, the group has been creating music that is ‘progressive and intricate while keeping things immediate and melodic,' with critically acclaimed albums. The group's new release ‘Spooky Action at a Distance' continues to build on the band's prior successes while branching out into new territory. The group has long put to rest that this is a part-time project. Spooky Action at a Distance finds Pattern-Seeking Animals more confident than ever, approaching new soundscapes and topics, combined with the DNA of their previous work for their most memorable and powerful album to date. John Boegehold explains, “Because this is our fourth release in less than five years, my intention was to shift gears and not go over ground that's already been covered. In addition to using different sounds, textures and musical styles, we approached the vocals, especially backing vocals from a fairly different angle. In addition, the album was recorded, mixed and mastered at a different studio with a different engineer than our previous three releases.” The different approach is not only noticeable in production and sounds, but in the lyrics as well. “The subject matter of the lyrics include a Norse king contemplating life while being conquered, an aging seeker on the path toward enlightenment, aliens hunting down humans trying to evade capture, the life of a conflicted soldier before and after WW1, a pregnant teenager leaving a bad situation at home, a reluctant hero victorious in her final battle and a guy's girlfriend who leaves him because of his conspiracy theories.” FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS VISIT http://PSAnimals1.com Official website http://Facebook.com/psanimals1 Facebook https://twitter.com/psanimals1 Twitter https://www.instagram.com/psanimals1/ Instagram INSIDEOUT MUSIC online: www.insideoutmusic.com www.youtube.com/InsideOutMusicTV www.facebook.com/InsideOutMusic www.twitter.com/InsideOutUSA www.insideoutmusicshop.com INSIDEOUTMUSIC Spotify Playlist: http://spotify.com/progrockessentials Discography Pattern-Seeking Animals (2019) Prehensile Tales (2020) Only Passing Through (2022) Spooky Action at a Distance (2023) Support us on PayPal!

Neal Morse formed and played in many bands in his youth, learning and mastering several instruments along the way. In 1995, he wrote and recorded with his band Spock's Beard The Light, an album based firmly in the then unfashionable progressive (‘prog') rock genre. This album quickly became a modern prog classic and began to bring Neal and the band global recognition. In 2000, he also joined forces to form Transatlantic, a ‘prog rock supergroup' that won further acclaim - and yet more fans - across the world. A second supergroup with Mike Portnoy followed - Flying Colors –with whom he earned his first #1 international chart position. Forging out on his own in 2003, Neal has made a series of ground-breaking albums. In 2015 he formed The Neal Morse Band. Neal Morse's latest releases are Innocence and Danger by The Neal Morse Band, The Absolute Universe by Transatlantic and most recent release Troika by D'Virgilio, Morse & Jennings. This week on Prog-Watch my special guest is Nick D'Virgilio, who is perhaps best known as a drummer and vocalist for Spock's Beard and Big Big Train! Nick and I chat about his illustrious career, and along the way I'll be spinning lots of great music from Spock's Beard and various side projects in which Nick has participated (including Rewiring Genesis, Deckchair Poets, and Zorbonauts)! We will also hear a number of tunes from his solo career, including a couple from his wonderful new album 'Invisible'!
Day, do In the Woods.

Luckily, he gave a third recommendation this episode, so it gave us a total of 4 new recommendations for this episode. Even numbers are nice. This week, Conor is joined by Brooks as they discuss various different soundtracks and composers that they like, and what makes a good film score work. Позднее были изданы "Circus Of Life" в 2007 году и "The Suffering Joy" четыре года спустя. Arena, The Urbane and Kino (в настоящее время лидер-гитарист и вокалист It Bites). The Wikkamen, Priory of Brion, IQ и the Ian Parker Band.

Many years ago when I was heavily into Dream Theater I stumbled upon a band that sounded interesting but was unable to hear their music (this was before Youtube made it insanely easy to hear most of mankind's recorded output). The band was Spock's Beard and I bought several of their albums sight-unseen from the Thoughts mailing list admin (Thanks, Lisa!). Fortunately in this day and age with sites like Jamendo and Bandcamp you don't have to guess what an album sounds like and once I heard the band Anasazi's "Drop Dead Silence" I was immediately reminded of Spock's Beard and that moment when The Kindness of Strangers (and not just the album) set me on another musical rabbit-hole. Speaking of proggish rabbit holes, we also have a proggish track from Wall of the Eyeless, as well as crushing tracks from FLYING RENOS, Avolation, CABEZA DE CABALLO and Umor. And if you like your metal with a little King Crimson / Frank Zappa then the latest from Peculate will fit the bill quite nicely. And it thrills me no end when I see bands that I know release material under a Creative Commons License so I'm thrilled to welcome Arsis to the show. So if you like multiple time signatures, thoughtful music, and crushing riffs you're ini for a treat. Cape and Mellotron not required. Shownotes after the break: * (00:11) drop dead silence by anasazi from 1000 yard stare (BY-NC-ND) * (05:56) FLICKER by Wall Of The Eyeless from Wimfolsfestta [Demo] (BY-NC-ND) * (15:39) Global Insanity by FLYING RENOS from Massive (BY-NC-ND) * (20:51) Worship Depraved by Arsis from As Regret Becomes Guilt (BY-NC-ND) * (23:52) An Intricate Balance by Avolation from Core To The Core Compilation Vol. 2 (BY-NC-ND) * (27:27) Volcanic Spell by CABEZA DE CABALLO from Iron and Wood (BY-NC-ND) * (34:36) Sandstone by Umor from Held Us Silent For A Moment (BY-NC-SA) * (44:56) Extra Varnish Please by Peculate from In Two (A) (BY-NC-SA) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or offer to send the band's music to random folks on the Internet. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it! Also check out the other great podcasts at Metal Injection, and be sure to listen to all of the great shows (including Open Metalcast) streaming 24/7 at Metalinjection.FM. If you have any suggestions for Creative Commons licensed metal, send me a link at craig@openmetalcast.com.

Welcome back to another Indeed Podcast, back from ECCC. To all the folk who join us, Thank you and we can;t wait til next year. Or maybe PAX Prime. Who knows. Creepy or Cool we step back in time to the era of great ships and even greater disasters, as we relive a trip on Titanic. Just without the sinking and dieing part. So we see the building and setup of this and the future launch in 2015. then we look at repacking old items into new. Is it a good thing? On to a Music review with Keefe on the new album from Spock's Beard. Finally let the screaming begin. SIM FAIL. YES.....WHY oh WHY Lord do you let Origin live? Sit back, Relax, and Let your city burn. Curse you Origin, you broke my heart. Thanks all who listen and keep us going, remember to email us with questions or comments at indeedpodcast@gmail.com or find us on Facebook, iTunes
