Sean, Cal, Dave and Katie speak to a Salford Harrier who won the Tameside 5k 2025. Harry has PBs of 1:49 for 800m, 3:40.35 for 1500m, 3:58.64 for the mile, 13:53 for 5k, 29:39 for 10k. Coming from a cycling background, Harry talks about how he first started running (the shoe choice will shock you), and he then tells us about how someone from Highgate Harriers convinced him to join them. Sean asks about the move from Highgate Harriers to Salford being a "step up" and Harry shows why it was. With not many middle distance runners on the podcast, we ask Harry about how you'd encourage people to try it out. The use of the phrase "lactic sniper" didn't convince some of the team. With the coaching set up at Salford being so good, Harry tells us about his training and usual training structure. He talks about breaking 4min for the mile as well and how he thought it didn't happen. With a busy professional career, Harry tells us about a health scare and how he manages running and work to get the best out of both. Harry gives an inspiring overview of being the team manager for Salford mens team and how well they have done for the last few outings, including whats next. The team plug the Black Knight Charge...https://bookitzone.com/martin_mcgann_1/ZejFFXAnd give race reviews for Stride Through The Woods, Mad Hatter, Alderley Bypass 10k, Chester Half, Manchester Half and Manchester 10k. We all know there's a big North-South divide when it comes to pay, but which part of the North of England has the highest average wage? Here's a clue, it's not Manchester or Leeds. With an average median annual full-time wage of nearly £42,000, Ribble Valley in Lancashire is the highest-paid local authority area in Northern England. Its residents earn an average of £14,000 a year more than those in Tameside, not too far away in Greater Manchester. The Ribble Valley is a beautiful district to the east of Preston, described as boasting "picturesque villages, soul-soothing countryside and warm-hearted inhabitants". And for foodies, it boasts several gastro pubs that are officially rated the very best the UK has to offer. Rob Parsons has never been and wants to put that right in this special episode. He heads to its main town Clitheroe to chat to locals about why the area's doing so well, the one thing that's worrying locals and intriguingly, why, if everything's so great, the area has just booted out its two Conservative MPs in favour of Labour politicians at the last General Election. In this episode, we talk to Dr Jennifer Voorhees, who is a GP in Tameside and an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer based at the University of Manchester. Title of paper: A paradox of access problems in general practice: a qualitative participatory case studyAvailable at: https://doi.org/10.3399/BJGP.2023.0276Access to general practice is an important topic, yet research and policies addressing access often take a simplistic definition, resulting in a lack of understanding of the complexities of longstanding interrelated problems. This research explains a paradox of access problems, in which the focus and attention on the increasing demand on general practice both creates and obscures another problem of unmet need. This is done through reactive rules and policies to manage demand, which largely undermine continuity in favour of speed of access, and generate work that takes up capacity of staff and patients. Clinicians can look at their current ways of working and identify ways to reverse the paradox in order to address hidden unmet needs and the resulting health inequalities in the population.

This week, expert guest, Anthony Benedict, discusses why some children are suspended/ excluded or permanently excluded from schools. He explains what these different types of exclusion mean and why it can happen, along with the different types of alternative provision some children may attend. Anthony shares that he never particularly liked the UK system of education. His mum said, "If you don't agree with something, you need to get inside it and change it," and so, to some extent, that's what he has been trying to do ever since. Anthony started his professional career as an English teacher and worked his way up to becoming a mainstream head. He's always worked closely with the children who didn't quite fit, and who some liked to label as naughty, though he never saw them in that way. For the last two years, Anthony has been the executive head teacher of a pupil referral unit in Tameside and has spent the last 18 months studying Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Trauma and Attachment. Anthony recommends the book The Deepest Well by Dr Nadine Burke Harris You can find out more about his work at Trauma Informed Schools and on Twitter @tisuk Anthony also shares four tips during the episode: 1. Listen to what your child says and not what you want to hear. 2. Remember to be the parent and not ‘a mate.' You need to be able to set boundaries and rules. 3. Don't be afraid to ask for help. 4. Never, ever, ever give up. The My Family Coach podcasts covers every aspect of children's behaviour, all in handy 15 minute (ish) bite-sized chunks. Amanda's journey starts as an Assistant nurse and follows her story through to her current role as a community specialist nurse practitioner team leader. Her goal setting didn't stop at nurse training. Amanda then refined and developed more goals and achieved them all with grit and determination. Amanda is a truly passionate advocate for patient care and community nursing.
