Declan Hill is a University of New Haven professor and host of the “Crime Waves” podcast. In part II of our interview, he discusses his deep dive into the origins of COVID 19. He calls it a slow-motion Chernobyl. He concludes that Covid came not from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as many have claimed, but from one of the many lesser-known Wuhan labs with terrible safety records. They create supervirulent viruses with poorly trained and paid lab technicians. They are known to sell infected research animals to local butchers. This likely explains the origins of COVID: from lab to wet market to humans.Support Hidden Truth Show by going to https://www.patreon.com/HiddenTruthShow and pledging just $5/month and receive access to Jim and special content and a Hidden Truth cap!Website: http://www.hiddentruthshow.comFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/hiddentruthshowInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/hiddentruthshow

This podcast compares the actions of the scientific community around the source of covid-19 to those by the medical profession when a physician noted the direct link between not washing hands and death in a maternity ward. Experts in their field never like outsiders asking simply "why" questions based on observations. The CDC says, “Scientists estimate that more than 6 out of every 10 known infectious diseases in people can be spread from animals, and 3 out of every 4 new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals.” So, you'd think our government would do whatever it could to discourage wet markets, which are retail slaughterhouses, where customers take home the carcass right after the animal is slaughtered on site. But, no, our government is doing very little to counteract that danger. Now, there's a proposed law in Los Angeles that would “prohibit the sale of living or ‘live' animals slaughtered on demand for consumption in specialty markets in the city of Los Angeles.” But, it's stalled. Covid-19 has had the world at a stand-still since early last year and yet we are still trying to find out how the pandemic started. Did the virus come directly from a bat, a different wild animal, was it spread by frozen food, or was it even leaked from a lab? A report published at the end of March by the World Health Organization and a joint team of scientists begins to unravel the mystery of the origins of the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Tim Offei-Addo sat down with Hung Nguyen-Viet, co-leader of the Animal and Human Health Program at ILRI, to discuss his experience traveling to Wuhan as part of the team trying to find the origins of the pandemic.

MPs were so excited to hear Boris Johnson say pubs will re-open, they shouted "Hallelujah" in the Commons. Museums and art galleries have the green light too. But after more than three months in lockdown, how many will be ready to welcome people by July 4th, and how many people will actually go? The Evening Standard's Lizzie Edmonds says many of London's top tourist attractions are worried the pandemic's effects will last even longer than lockdown itself. Also, it can't be said for certain that coronavirus came from a wet market in Wuhan but most scientists have it at the very top of a short list of suspects. The trade is supplied by a huge international operation, much of it run by organised crime, making large amounts of money from cruelty to animals. The Evening Standard's begun a campaign to end the illegal wildlife trade, and teamed up with conservation group Space for Giants. Their CEO Dr Max Graham tells us how the supply chain works, and the global effort that will be needed to stop it. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
