With the African National Congress (ANC) turning 113 today, United Independent Movement (UIM) President Neil De Beer - who spent 34 years in the party - takes BizNews readers through the fall of the oldest liberation movement in the world: He says Vice President Paul Mashatile being chased out of house in Khayelitsha this week is symbolic of how “broken” the party is. De Beer lists the times major cracks appeared in the party: from the incarceration of two ANC stalwarts, United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Alan Boesak and MK Commander Tony Yengeni, for fraud; the contestation of the leadership of former president Thabo Mbeki; the Zuma cabal's “slaughter” of the ANC's principles; the collapse of the Youth League following the departure of Julius Malema; the “fiscal abuse” brought about by the formation of factions; and the party's failure to transition form a liberation movement into a successful government. The ANC of today, says De Beer, “is ripped apart, it's destroyed, it's sunk, it has rust, it has enemies, it is internally and externally being slaughtered piece by piece. And that's where we are with this carcass. In South Africa, a spokesperson for the opposition uMkhonto we Sizwe (or MK) party says the group has stepped up its campaign ahead of the coming May 29 national elections. Noma Buthelezi is the spokesperson of the MK party Youth League in the Kwazulu Natal province. She says the opposition party is determined to win a two-thirds majority in parliament to form the next government. Her comments come after a Kwazulu-Natal High Court in Durban rejected a petition by the African National Congress to prevent the MK from using a logo the ANC argues is its asset and heritage. The African National Congress (ANC) was banned on this day in 1960. In 1912, the ANC emerged as South Africa's governing party with a founding aim to secure equal rights for non-whites. In response to the onset of segregation in 1913, the ANC adopted strategies to confront discriminatory policies. Notably, Nelson Mandela, among other members, spearheaded the creation of the Youth League, advocating for more assertive measures against apartheid. By 1960, tensions mounted, leading to the tragic Sharpeville Massacre, where 69 protesters lost their lives at the hands of South African police. Consequently, both the ANC and the Pan-African Congress were banned by the government on April 8, 1960. Mandela faced arrest and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Over time, the organization garnered international support, resulting in its legalization in South Africa in February 1990. Mientras eso sucede la vida y el fútbol nos han regalado a dos diecisieteañeros, cuyos padres tienen que firmar una autorización para que puedan ser convocados por sus respectivas selecciones. Yamal es un auténtico pepino con un montón de registros que arrancó en territorio local ayer, pero enemigo siempre, una atronadora ovación, del estilo de la que se llevó Ronaldinho por el añorado "hombre del bigote", de esas que anhela Vinicius, por quien se montó el partido, en muchos campos de LaLiga y que no consigue. A Endrick algún trastornado ha decido compararlo con Pelé como si ya no tuviese la suficiente presión con recalar en el Madrid en edad de Youth League. Tiene cara de niño y muslos de Roberto Carlos con estética vintage aportada por la zamarra por dentro del pantalón. Aparentemente de menos recursos técnicos que Yamal, su idilio con el gol es absoluto. Antes de romper a sudar en dos catedrales como Wembley y el Bernabéu ya había hecho sus deberes.
