Hello Music fans, Welcome to a special presentation podcast by the hosts of the Monthly Music Challenge, Cosmic Bos (one S). Although this is the podcast feed for the MMC, it is also the place that Cosmic Bos put their special presentations and some other guff, like, if they want to chat about something for some reason. Cosmic Bos are Nick and Andy Jackson, brothers from the South of the UK, making music and music videos and sharing them with the world. Virtual Normality 3 is our third EP in the Virtual Normality series (you can tell by the 3 after the words Virtual and Normality), with the first one having come out way back in 2021 before the Monthly Music Challenge even existed, the second one hit internet shelves in 2022 mere months before the MMC was launched, and then this third one slipped onto the intershelves on the final day of 2023 (so we can still claim it came out in '23). https://cosmicbos.bandcamp.com/album/virtual-normality-3 A little Cosmic Bos history on this subject: Virtual Normality started life as a showcase for Nick and Andy of their songwriting skills, at the time, Cosmic Bos were making an improvised music podcast, with Nick and Andy working with Joe Philogene and producing 4 epic Full album improv sessions in 2021. 'Space Babies' was born from the improv sessions and was given a coat of production paint to open the EP, with 'Take it Easier', 'It's Always You' and 'Ride Another Wave' being used from the songbooks. 'Stay Inside' was a new song made with TexMex Shaman and loving placed on the EP. Flash forward a year and Cosmic Bos release Virtual Normality 2, having won a 'Judge's Choice' Award for their album '2 A.M it's Mission Time' it was decided that Nick and Andy would give the songwriting their full focus. VN2 contained 4 songs that had been born from the Music Weeklies challenge on X (formerly Twitter) as well as a Cosmic Bos remix of a song by Andrew Hartshorn and Natalie Williams Calhoun. It also served as the blueprint for the Monthly Music Challenge. At the end of the first year of the Monthly Music Challenge, Cosmic Bos turned their attention to Virtual Normality 3, knowing that they wanted it to showcase what the future may hold, just as the previous two VN EP's had. And that is what this podcast is about. Come on a journey with Nick Jackson and Andy Jackson of Cosmic Bos as they discuss their new 5 track EP Virtual Normality 3, which you can buy on bandcamp right now here https://cosmicbos.bandcamp.com/album/virtual-normality-3 Also, if you fancy a free copy of the EP, then all you need to do is purchase our CD from Monochrome Motif Records here https://cosmicbos.bandcamp.com/album/mmc-1-2023-album - Containing our 10 songs for the first year of the Monthly Music Challenge, and a bonus free digital download of Virtual Normality 3. Love me or Leave me 2. That Old Feeling 3. It's Always You 4. Like Someone In Love 5. My Buddy 6. My Funny Valentine (Live) *Suscríbete a nuestro canal. If you appreciate this work, consider supporting it - https://www.patreon.com/seekgodtogether https://www.seekGodtogether.com Today we will read Colossians 1:17. This profound verse says, “He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.” If ever there was a verse to nerd out on scientifically, it's this one. And I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that Paul could hardly understand what He was writing - yay for revelation. We may have more scientific know-how than he did, but in 10,000 years our knowledge by comparison will look elementary. But if there's a God, and if Jesus is His image, then all science will do is further demonstrate His wisdom and power bit by bit. And His revelation to us will further reveal His goodness and beauty, from glory to glory. But until then, let's nerd out to the extent we can shall we? He is before all things… Energy exists in a timeless state. In order for there to be time at all, energy must be cool enough to “freeze” into matter. Matter allows for time. God, and Jesus by extension, existed before time began spinning. Whether the energy of the initial singularity was borrowed essence of God, or if that energy is separate from God is a mystery only He knows. We've read that Jesus is the firstborn, or preeminent One of creation. Does that mean the energy of the universe is itself of Jesus? Perhaps of Jesus and not of the Father? Do I even have a clue what I'm asking? Probably not. But it's sure wonderful to imagine. Whatever the case - He is before it all. And all things hold together in Him. All things. Things you see and don't see. It turns out, the things you see are almost entirely nothing. What we call solid, is a collection of atoms. These atoms have a tiny nucleus made up of particles made up of quarks. The solidity of an atom is largely electric bonds in the nucleus. The nucleus is surrounded by a swarm of flying electrons moving in quantized packets at the speed of light. The space between the nucleus and the electrons is vast in comparison. If the nucleus were a basketball, the electrons would be 30 miles away. Believe it or not, you could have a block of lead the size of the solar system, and shoot a neutrino through it and it will hit nothing. What you consider solid is almost entirely nothing. And given that everything is moving in quantized bits, you could say that the entire universe is digital. To you and me it seems smooth but only because the resolution is so small. In reality, the entire universe is nothing more than a digital operating system sitting on top of the solidity and mind of God. So what's real? To us the operating system is real because it's what we're designed to operate within. But there's an actual real that's denser, truly substantial, and before the universe, beyond the universe. And it's Jesus. He holds it all together. The operating system is His idea and it's His power that keeps it going. You and I are the bit of graphic on the screen. We think of it as so real. It's only real because of Him. And while the thought of this could cause us to feel small, insignificant, and almost nothing (and that's all true), remember that we are the object of His attention, love, and romance. Walk in that today. Jesus, I'm awestruck. I'm reminded of how little I know - how little I'm aware of. Let my mind be blown but redirected to You. Always You.

And they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the Lord had commanded Israel. 2 So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the seventh month. 3 And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law. 4 And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand, and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam on his left hand. 5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood. 6 And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. 7 Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites,[a] helped the people to understand the Law, while the people remained in their places. 8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly,[b] and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading. This Day Is Holy 9 And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” 11 So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved.” 12 And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them. Musical Reflection: Harp meditation No. 1 by Gretchen Kirby Reflection Notes:  A repetitive pattern in the left hand provides a meditative foundation while the right hand experiments with ascending lines. The tune is meant to be joyful and evoke delight.  Prayer: This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

Always You. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

I finally found my reading groove again in May and when I say we have books to talk about…WE HAVE *BOOKS* TO TALK ABOUT. The month started strong with Always You the third book in the Samantha Young Adair family series, but then got shaky with probably the worst book I've ever read in Bad Luck Bridesmaid (it wasn't the writing style, it was just the main character and her storyline). Samantha saved the day again with a quick 8 hour read of Hero (what I consider her spiciest book I've ever read of hers) and then there was Emily Henry's Book Lovers. You remember my thoughts last year on PWMOV and the redemption in Beach Read. Book Lovers was my litmus test for Emily: if I liked it I'd read her next book, but if I didn't I probably wouldn't read any more. Well, not that she needed my test, but she went and wrote the best book I've ever read. If you don't love Book Lovers, I don't know what to tell you. Move over River Nicolas from The Soulmate Equation, hello Charlie Lastra. Finishing the month I read a new author for me, Sara Desai with her third book, The Singles Table and when I say steam meets spice. It was the best of both worlds. Get full reviews on all that plus a little more now in the May wrap-up. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

We had the pleasure of interviewing Julian King over Zoom video! Philadelphia based next-gen R&B singer-songwriter Julian King recently released his new single “Gone Do”. This single follows King's 2019 debut album, “Made in China,” which blazed the scene with streaming favorites “Seasons,” “Safe” and “Always You”.  With repertoire polished during his 2018 year-long tour of the five-star hotels of China, the album remains on repeat-play for scores of lovers of passionate, honest R&B. In December 2020 King dropped his EP, TAKEOUT featuring collaborations with Mare, Just Frenchie, Kymberli Joye, Shaun Sounds, Kevin JZ Prodigy, Precious, and Brayla. Following in the success of his 2019 album and 2020 EP King recently released“Gone Do” an R&B single perfect for those who found their love in 2021.When asked about his new single “Gone Do” King said, “This song came out of an experience I had when I was playing Spades as I caught someone's eye, and he caught mine.  I normally wouldn't have entertained it, but this time it felt different; this time I felt the courage to go after him. I'm glad I did because he was feeling me the entire time. I actually got what I wanted lol. For too long I sat on the sidelines and let good opportunities pass me by, but that stops now.”As a preacher's kid with virtuoso vocals, dance moves to die for and skillful musicianship on piano King has always loved music, but it wasn't until 8th grade when King realized he loved the stage more than anything and began to place all of his energy into song and dance. It was at this time that King and everyone in his orbit knew he had an exceptional gift. King went on to attend the acclaimed Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts as well as Philadelphia University of the Arts, where he graduated with a BA in Vocal Performance. “As I matured, and my understanding of love and relationships developed along with my voice, I realized I could truly express the depth of love in my heart through song. I treat relationships with the greatest respect. I love people and all creatures. I'm all about tolerance and respect. I'm all about inclusivity. I love having seats at tables, but I would love for everyone to have a seat at the table,” says King. His loving nature translates directly to his soaring, soulful music, and exceptional performance, and no better is that heard on his new single “Gone Do.”  Please stay tuned to Julian King's socials below for more updates on the release of new music in 2021 as well as upcoming tour dates. We want to hear from you! JJ Bloom, the alias of Irish songwriter Conor Mc Quaid, has spent the last three years building up his home studio and writing music to prepare for his debut release, ‘Always You’. The track was written, produced and mixed by Bloom, and mastered by Fergal Davis (Muse, Republic of Loose, The Divine Comedy). The song uses an extraordinarily catchy guitar riff throughout that epitomises Bloom’s soul, funk and RnB influences. Though only 23, Bloom has already proven himself to be an experienced songwriter having co-written the songs ‘I Won’t Be Leaving’ and ‘Supernatural’ with Jake Carter, as well as yet to be released tracks with French artists Le trottoir d’en face and John Linhart. To date, he has also performed at the rather fitting Bloom Festival, UCD Freshers Fair and supported Jake Carter in the Draiocht. Join citizens of the Middle Kingdom as we explore what the book of Proverbs has to say about being a workaholic. Links/Resources: BBC Article on Workaholism  Workaholics Anonymous Verses: Proverbs 23:4 Proverbs 15:27 Colossians 3:23  Genesis 2:3, 15 II Timothy 2:6 I Timothy 5:8 II Thessalonians 3:10 Additional Notes: The Bergen Work Addiction Scale  (1) Never, (2) Rarely, (3) Sometimes, (4) Often, and (5) Always You think of how you can free up more time to work. You spend much more time working than initially intended. You work in order to reduce feelings of guilt, anxiety, helplessness and depression. You have been told by others to cut down on work without listening to them. You become stressed if you are prohibited from working. You deprioritize hobbies, leisure activities, and exercise because of your work. You work so much that it has negatively influenced your health. Scoring of «often» or «always» on at least four of the seven items may suggest that you are a workaholic.

Ryan Corn might not identify himself as a craftsman, even though he’s recently taken up the hobby of woodworking, but the Cape Girardeau, Missouri, native approaches everything he does—performing, production, audio engineering, and especially songwriting—with the same care and attention to detail as a master carpenter. Not surprising then, Wonderful Things is jam-packed with such offerings. Tracks such as R&B infused, “It’ll Be Alright,” burst with soul and emotion, a homage to one of the many genres Corn has been influenced by. Such original tunes as “Burst,” “The Only Good,” and “Always You” will surely find listeners in every format. --- To listen to the songs of Marie Miller is to know this impressive new Curb artist, a triple-threat talent — singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist — who’s poised to become one of the breakout stars of 2013. Just as Miller insists on writing from true experience, her music blurs the lines in defining her style. She aims only for the right musical bed for her lyrics, crafting songs that appeal across many genres. Such original tunes as “You’re Not Alone,” “To Be Loved,” “Unconscious,” “Fall Alone,” and “6-2” will likely find listeners in every format from Triple A, Americana, front porch folk to nuegrass to country and classic pop. Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, the third of ten children, Miller began singing at the age of seven. At “the ripe old age of twelve,” she joined her family band, playing festivals and churches, and trading off lead and harmony vocals in duets with her sister Justina, with whom she was billed as the Miller Sisters. Their parents backed them up on guitar and upright bass, as Marie played mandolin, guitar, and eventually bouzouki.
