There's something I jotted down years ago and I'll be the first to admit. It was something that I'd written down because I needed to receive a part of me that was lost.I want to share it here:. “When people are asleep their spirits wander off. When they are awake, their bodies are like an open door, so that everything they touch becomes an entanglement. Day after day they used their minds to stir up trouble. They become both swords. Sneaky & Secretive. They are consumed with anxiety over trivial matters but remain arrogantly oblivious to the things truly worth fearing. Their words fly from their mouths like a crossbow. So sure, are they that they know right from wrong. They cling to their positions as They had sworn an oath. So sure are they a victory? Their gradual decline is all like autumn fading into winter. This is how they dwindle day by day, They drown. And what are they? You cannot make them turn back. They began to suffocate as tho sealed up in a box. This is how they decline and into insanity As their minds approach death, nothing can cause them to turn back towards the light.”Where do you think that comes from? He always saddles back up, he and his roping partner take a deep breath, and as a team, they go get the job done one calf at a time. On this episode of America Uncanceled, Dr. Brooke Miller, owner of Ginger Hill Angus, speaks with Matt and Mercedes Schlapp about the Beef Initiative Micro Summit. Miller has been a lifelong cattle rancher, beginning his career as a child on his family's ranch. He is not just any rancher but one dedicated to naturally grown beef. He is hosting the Beef Initiative Micro Summit to encourage and inform ranchers on natural methods of producing beef and of the economic viability of small ranches amidst mass ranching for corporate purposes. “The Beef Initiative is basically a movement to bypass the industrial food complex and connect farmers and ranchers directly with consumers, and consumers will get a better product. They'll get a safer product. They'll be able to look the growers of their food in the eye and have a conversation and find out exactly how that animal was treated, what that animal was given, and how that animal was grown out,” Miller explains. “It will hopefully restore the health and wellness of our population if we're able to successfully bypass the industrial food complex and restore the economic viability of ranching.” Miller attributes the processes of mass production of meat for corporations to many common health problems afflicting Americans. The chemicals injected into mass produced meat can be linked to health issues like diabetes and obesity. The mRNA COVID-19 vaccine is of particular concern for many that an injection will be developed for animals that will then be passed on to the human consumer of the animal. The Missouri legislature is proposing a bill that supports the Beef Initiative's efforts for transparency in meat production by requiring the disclosure of gene therapy or injections such as the mRNA vaccine in meat. The Beef Initiative advocates for healthy meats grown and sold locally and on a smaller scale to support small, family ranches and farms. The Beef Initiative Micro Summit, taking place on Saturday, is bringing awareness to the issues of America's food supply while bringing together those who contribute to it for open discussion of their challenges. Vinnie and Slim discuss how there has been a shift in information; as a result, there is variance between what some call "my truth" and absolutes, especially in the food industry. Vinnie gives a great example of building a kayak as what is meant by "absolute". Texas Slim gives a summary of the recent farming industry that has led to today's factory farming and its negative aspects. Slim explains the growth of mono-cropping and what it has done to our food supply. Vinnie recounts how in the 1970s the food industry shifted to using things like high fructose corn syrup. They then discuss a little of their personal histories and how it has led to being great observers. LOCAL SOURCING Not everyone has access to locally sourced meat, but if you can do it, it's a great option. Many factory farms feed their animals with grains treated with chemicals and the animals are treated with hormones. Vinnie and  Texas Slim discuss the many benefits of knowing where your animal protein comes from. Price manipulation and labeling laws of many meat products make it difficult to know where your food comes from. Texas Slim has some recommendations on how to contact a local rancher, communicate with them, learn from them, and get great products.
