V nejnovějším vydání podcastu TL;DR si opět povídáme o všem možném, ale nakonec hlavně o českém vydání románu Bena Lernera 22:04.

Najprej so bili sonce, dež, grom in strela, potem je bil ogenj ... Kmalu so prišli ljudje, ki so ogenj zanetili in sedli okrog njega. Sedeli in modrovali so na prostem, pod milim nebom in v jamah, v katerih je ostalo veliko sledi dima. Ognjišče se je velikokrat razvnelo v požar, kot zgodbe, ki so razplamtevale domišljijo in razvezale jezike, prepletale polifonijo glasov v pletenice dolgih pripovedi. Zgodba ujetega sonca, gorčega ognja in ukradene lune se je nadaljevala. Ker je bilo ljudi strah, so prižgali bakle, zato da bi v temnih nočeh na zemlji zasijala ognjeno topla in srebrno modrikasta mesečina. Potem so gradili domove in vanje prinašali luč in ogenj: z oljenkami, s svečami, petrolejkami. Prišlo je stoletje plinskih svetilk, žarnic, električnega toka, zatem stoletje odvisnosti od električne energije in pojava svetlobnega onesnaževanja. Seveda zgodbe še ni konec ... Po podatkih Statističnega urada Republike Slovenije je bilo v začetku letošnjega leta pri nas 471.800 prebivalcev, starejših od 64 let, kar predstavlja dobrih 22 odstotkov, več je žensk. Prav ženske, starejše od 75 let, ki živijo same, so še vedno tiste, ki so najbolj izpostavljene tveganju revščine. Tudi sicer je stopnja tveganja revščine med starejšimi višja od tiste, ki jo merimo za celotno prebivalstvo. Prav revščina starejših je bila tema triletnega projekta Vsakdanje življenje in življenjski potek starih ljudi, ki živijo v revščini, v katerem so želeli raziskati, kako se osebne zgodbe revnih starejših ljudi prepletajo s strukturnimi pogoji, v katerih živijo. Projekt je financirala Javna agencija za znanstvenoraziskovalno in inovacijsko dejavnost, v njem pa sta poleg Fakultete za socialno delo in Fakultete za družbene vede Univerze v Ljubljani sodelovala tudi Mirovni inštitut in Inštitut za novejšo zgodovino. Laurence Benaïm : le goût des autresNous cherchions à interviewer Laurence Benaïm depuis près d'un an. Mais avec autant de casquettes ; journaliste (elle a travaillé pour Le Monde, L'Express et fondé Stiletto), auteur, éditrice, biographe (Saint Laurent, Marie-Laure de Noailles, Dior...) et une nouvelle biographie de la peintre italo-argentine Leonor Fini à paraître, en septembre, chez Gallimard, l'entretien a finalement eu lieu au début de l'été, à l'hôtel Nolinski (Paris 1er), un lieu qu'elle connaît bien. Elle y organise régulièrement des rencontres avec des designers et des créateurs, portée par le désir de transmettre son goût des autres, et en particulier pour les créateurs qu'elle soutient avec une passion indéfectible...Dans son roman « La sidération », paru en 2021, elle raconte son histoire familiale et évoque son grand père maternel polonais qui fabriquait des chapeaux et qui lui a, peut-être, transmis le goût des gestes, de l'artisanat :« J'aime la vérité et le silence des ateliers, dit-elle, la vérité des gestes, les instruments, les mots de la technique qui sont les complices de la main». Elle retrace l'histoire de ses parents médecins, juifs sépharades du côté de son père (Algérie) et ashkénazes du côté de sa mère, elle, installée à Paris durant la seconde guerre et qui doit se cacher à la campagne ; un épisode qu'elle ne racontera jamais vraiment. Sa mère ne se confiait d'ailleurs pas beaucoup et c'est son histoire, en particulier, que Laurence Benaïm s'attache à retracer dans ce roman alors qu'elle tombe gravement malade. « C'est un livre écrit sous forme d'une grande lettre : ce que je n'ai pas pu lui dire ».Elle a voulu « documenter », dit-elle, l'histoire de sa mère comme elle « documente » ses biographies : un travail d'enquête « Tout savoir, s'imprégner pour arriver à quelque chose de poétique ». La biographie de Saint-Laurent, qui est devenue un ouvrage de référence, lui a pris à peu près sept ans. Elle cite comme modèle Stephen Zweig et Pierro Citati.Laurence Benaïm est aussi la biographe du décorateur d'intérieur Jean-Michel Frank (1895-1941). Laurence Benaïm le raconte joliment : « Le personnage s'est imposé, car j'aime les grands silencieux :il était à la fois célèbre et inconnu. Il n'a pas vraiment donné d'interviews. Son travail a finalement été extrêmement copié et a, en même temps, quelque peu disparu. Il n'a fait partie d'aucun groupe, il était solitaire. J'ai été attiré par cette personnalité. Jean Cocteau disait qu'il donnait l'impression que ses intérieurs avaient été cambriolés. Il y a dans ses créations une forme d'opulence dans la retenue, une grande sensualité associée à une grande rigueur. Une épure qui est la grâce mais n'est pas de la raideur ou du minimalisme. Comme un tailleur de diamants, il enlève pour ajouter de la lumière. Même son dépouillement a quelque chose de solaire ».Laurence Benaïm aime autant tant l'extravagance que la retenue quand ils sont, l'un ou l'autre « au service d'un propos ou d'une intention. Je n'aime pas les choses obligatoires ou imposées, sans regard ».Elle a récemment apprécié le travail d'Edi Dubien au Musée de la Chasse. Elle aime aussi Claire Tabouret, « une artiste qui cultive le sens du trait et du regard », ainsi que Jean-Philippe Delhomme.Dans cet épisode du Trait, Laurence Benaïm nous raconte son parcours et évoque son travail en prenant toujours soin de choisir ses mots, ce qui finalement l'importe plus que tout.VERBATIM- «J'apprends avec le temps à essayer de me délester de mes notes de lecture, qui sont comme des épingles accrochées à des robes.- Le créateur, c'est celui qui dessine, qui a des idées, les met en scène, raconte des histoires. The Nebraska State Board of Canvassers met to certify the results of the 2024 general election Monday afternoon. Deputy Secretary of State for Elections Wayne Bena said nearly 70,000 ballots were hand counted after the election and only 7 had discrepancies between the hand count and machine count. Bena said the implementation of voter ID had a negligible effect on the election and fewer than 350 ballots were rejected due to the new requirement.

Dňa 8. augusta organizátori vylosujú jedno meno, zverejnia ho online a tento vybraný jedinec sa tak na jednu noc podľa pravidiel lotérie stane vydedencom postaveným mimo zákona. Bude lovnou zverou a hocikto v Nemecku ho vraj môže beztrestne zabiť. A nie len to. Táto zvrátená „hra“ ponúka aj lákavú finančnú odmenu. Úspešný lovec získa desať miliónov dolárov. Koľko ľudí dokáže uveriť tejto odpornej lotérií a pristúpiť na hru? Kto všetko sa s vidinou výhry balíka peňazí dá na lov? Lotéria OsemNoc mala byť celospoločenský psychologický experiment, ktorý sa však postupne vymkol spod kontroly... Ben Rühmann sa priam topí v problémoch. Jeho dcéra zostala po nehode, ktorú spôsobil na invalidnom vozíku a teraz leží v kóme, pretože sa pravdepodobne pokúsila o samovraždu. Benov sen o hudobnej kariére sa mu tiež rozsypáva pred očami, opustila ho manželka a finančne na tom tiež nie je najlepšie. Svoje neutíchajúce pocity životného stroskotanca často utápa v alkohole. A v tom Ben zistí, že práve jeho meno vyžrebovali v lotérii smrti. Prekvapivo v tom nie je sám. Objavili sa až dve mená. Tým druhým je Arezu, študentka psychológie, ktorá zjavne trpí anorexiou a sebapoškodzovaním. O ôsmej hodine a ôsmej minúte večer sa ich mizerné životy menia na boj o prežitie. Lov sa začal. Sociálne siete a médiá sa plnia ich fotografiami, osobnými údajmi, hromadia sa konšpirácie, teórie o tom, či je to, čo sa deje vôbec reálne. Kopia sa dôvody, prečo si týto dvaja vlastne zaslúžia smrť. Osemnoc sa šíri ako vírus. Hordy lovcov túžiacich po výhre tiahnu ulicami a hľadajú Bena a Arezu. Some of today's top storiesKern County firefighters had their hands full last night... with a vegetation fire near the Bena landfill.The call came in around 6:40.    Crews worked quickly to knock down the flames.    At last check, the fire is under control with three acres burned.    No word yet on a cause.This morning... we know the name of a man who died following a shooting late Friday night near Panorama Park in northeast Bakersfield.    24-year-old Ronald Josue Rivera Hernandez was shot April 19 at the intersection of River Boulevard and Panorama Drive.    He died at the scene.    Bakersfield police said he was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the park's parking lot.     The shooting remains under investigation.    Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.A man known as the "pillowcase rapist" was sentenced yesterday for trying to kidnap a woman in Bakersfield. A man known as the "pillowcase rapist" was sentenced yesterday for trying to kidnap a woman in Bakersfield. 12  years...     That was the sentence handed down to a driver involved in a deadly street racing crash.     The crash happened back in November 2021 on Stockdale Highway.     Nathan Valencia was racing a red Honda Civic, which sideswiped another vehicle and crashed into a traffic pole.. killing Jose Beltran-Lopez and Carmen Romero Vidal.    A third person in the civic survived.    Valencia last month pleaded no contest to two counts of vehicular manslaughter.     Murder charges were dismissed.A new partnership between the Bakersfield Police Department and the California Highway Patrol - will lead to more officers on the streets.    It comes as Governor Gavin Newsom pledges to crack down on crime in California. It's what Newsom is calling a crime suppression partnership... and it's part of more than one billion dollars spent on crime since 2019....    Meaning there will be more resources and personnel locally.  Partnerships are ongoing in San Francisco and Oakland.     Newsom says compared to the statewide average... Kern County sees higher rates of property and violent crime... as well as arrest rates.     This partnership targets roadway dangers and vehicle and retail theft.A pressing issue in our community -- businesses hit by vandalism. The latest incident happened at Mill Creek Antique Mall in downtown Bakersfield. 17's Cecilia Trevino reports.
