It's 2017, I'm on the plane home from California. I just attended a conference, a mastermind with a virtual friend of mine, Chris Ducker, and I'm writing down the 5th value that I want for Organize 365®. The Power of Community: In community, everyone can learn to be organized, action is easier, and happens exponentially. Organize 365® believes organization is a learnable skill. I'm a CEO After the investment I had made in that 6 days in California, it sunk in, I'm a real CEO. I was making money and needed to structure my company to be able to purchase inventory. After considering our current phase of life and how I envisioned Organize 365® would grow, I was advised to structure it as a C-Corp. All the details and thought process I shared in this episode. I also decided on the way home that I was going to need to hire 7 contractors for areas that were not my strength. In community with these contractors I grew Organize 365® Virtual Friends I had a really hard time in the friends category really my whole life. I shared a really vulnerable time in my life in Catholic school where the girls weren't so nice to me. Maybe it was me? I was used to talking to adults. The place in my family where I was born had me surrounded by adults all the time. I had my successful female lineage, my father who owned his own business, and then the smart men on my dad's side of the family. I was so mature in conversation but naive in interacting with kids my same age. I finally had a pretty solid friend once I was married. Around 2012, my pit of despair, I was back to no community. My parents divorced and it kind of blew up the whole family, I ditched my friends so I would not be around negativity, we were in a tough parenting season so church had become less, and I wasn't teaching anymore. I didn't even have my Creative Memory parties anymore, the women I had scrapbook with once a month for years. So I turned to authors. I listened to their audio books. I gleaned all they were talking about and trying to apply it to my business. And then I found podcasts. Like, what? It was an endless supply of basically audiobooks. They were my virtual friends, Pat Flynn with Smart Passive Income, John Lee Dumas with Entrepreneur on Fire, Chris Ducker with Youpreneur, to name a few. I would mull over the questions Chris Ducker would ask his guests and then I would practice answering them. But then I got to thinking how the female lived experience is so much different than a male's. So I searched out women to follow and listen to. Life is so flat when you don't have friends. I couldn't seem to make any friends so this was what I had. I was always talking with them, they just couldn't hear my side of the conversation. Organize 365® Community Being such a fan of community and understanding community helps others to learn, I knew it had to be a core value of my company. I also knew that the growth I was expecting and the experience I wanted for my customers, I would not be able to hold the community together alone. I'm still very much involved with the Planning Days, Embrace, and other webinars n such. But you see team members running some of the clubs and other things. Life is better in community, connecting with other humans. EPISODE RESOURCES: The Sunday Basket® Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter Did you enjoy this episode? Today I'm sharing how a few of the books from the book club have changed my business this year! It was such a nice refresher to look back on this list and have another think about all that we covered. And I can't even say that all of the books in my top 3 were the most enjoyable to read, but they've definitely helped me make some great changes. Without further ado, here they are: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki Virtual Freedom by Chris Ducker Clutter Connection by Cassandra Aarssen Rich Dad Poor Dad gave me some new ways to think about assets and liabilities. It also gave me the courage to go after a commercial property! In the end, it wasn't the right decision but I gained some great insights in the process. I'll also tell you what type of rental items I've incorporated into my business because of this read! Virtual Freedom had me make three lists to freedom, and here's what I've outsourced because of it: social media podcast editing sales These are all major changes for me and I'm so thankful I went forward with them! In this episode of The Remote CEO Show, I had the pleasure to interview Chris Ducker. Serial entrepreneur, bestselling author, in-demand keynote speaker, and respected business advisor, Chris Ducker is highly regarded as THE authority on the subjects of personal branding and virtual team building. His journey is one of hard work, burnout, change, success, and an unwavering desire to serve those that dream of changing the world with what they know and who they strive to serve.
Entrepreneurs and designers are caught in an analysis-paralysis trap when starting or growing their businesses. Unsurprisingly, founders want the perfect product or service and brand, but it's important to remember that perfection is optional for startup success. Rather than striving for perfection, entrepreneurs should focus on creating a Minimum Viable Brand (MVB) and building on it as they progress. MVBs require far less effort than a fully realized version, so entrepreneurs can confidently launch without the extra pressure to be perfect right out of the gate. It also ensures that evolution is part of the plan, giving plenty of room to incorporate intricate changes. As daunting as launching a new product or service can seem, developing an MVB can ease some of that stress while ensuring your idea is headed in the right direction! I discuss: Examples of successful entrepreneurs and designers who have evolved their offerings over time, such as Amy Landino, Chris Ducker, and Lee Jackson. Twitter and Pinterest are two examples of companies that initially had different focuses but shifted their offering over time to great success. Thanks for listening! Let me tell you about one of the best lessons my guest today has taught me. In order to get the best results, you need to take different actions at different stages of business. You see, often as entrepreneurs, what got us to a certain point (a financial goal, a team, a milestone) won't be the same thing that gets us that continued progress we need. In today's episode we're talking about how to elevate yourself and your business and I'm excited to get stuck in. Chris is a serial entrepreneur and operates several businesses, including the VA recruiting hub, Virtual Staff Finder and the personal brand education company, Youpreneur. He is also an advisor to industry experts elevating their impact and lifestyle, while enjoying sustainable success! I met Chris Ducker at a mastermind in San Diego where we needed to show up with a business idea. I realized I didn't have one at the time, so I wrote my first book in thirty days and showed up with the idea and the book of the same name, The Art of Apprenticeship. This was the start of building my personal brand and a real friendship with Chris. In this episode of “Authors Who Lead,” I talk with Chris about his book Rise of the Youpreneur: The Definitive Guide to Becoming the Go-To Leader in Your Industry and Building a Future-Proof Business and the importance of personal brands for authors and entrepreneurs.Want to become a published author? In this episode we're charged to stop attempting time management and my guest takes the very concept to task as something never intended to benefit us at all. Instead he masterfully guides us in how to tip time to our advantage. It's not a hack or a secret but a reawakening as to how we are viewing and budgeting our time, and I'd ask you to consider if your so called time management is working for you? Do you feel efficient? Do you have margin? Are you getting things done that are not just urgent, but important and valuable to you? My guest is Richie Norton and this is his second appearance on my show. Once in a while I find someone who every influencer seems to be influenced by. A recent look at Richie's social media finds him in pictures with Pat Flynn, Tom & Lisa Bilyeu, Ben Hardy, Chris Ducker, and Chalene Johnson. He doesn't just know these people, but he does business with them and they look to him for guidance. He's also just an incredibly inspirational guy who elevates the energy of any place he goes. Richie is an executive coach to CEOs and is featured in Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, Inc., Entrepreneur, and Huffington Post. He's also CEO and Cofounder of PROUDUCT—an INC. 5000 company—a global entrepreneurship solution helping businesses go from idea to market with full-service sourcing, product strategy, and end-to-end supply chain. He is the author of several books and it was his book, The Power of Starting Something Stupid, that got me to invite him on this show the first time. This time it's his brand new book, “Anti-Time Management: Reclaim Your Time and Revolutionize Your Results with the Power of Time Tipping.” What you're about to hear is a very thoughtful conversation that begins with Richie observing we as a culture have ever increasing full calendars, but emptier lives. The rest of the conversation is Richie's guidance in how you can change that, right away. You can find Richie's book, “Anti-Time Management: Reclaim Your Time and Revolutionize Your Results with the Power of Time Tipping” everywhere, find his podcast at The Richie Norton Show, and his website is richienorton.com. The Smart Passive Income Online Business and Blogging Podcast
#614 As you listen to this episode, I want you to go through a quick exercise with me. You can just do it in your head, but the real magic happens when you put pen to paper. My good friend, Chris Ducker, calls it the 3 Lists to Freedom. As the name suggests, we'll be creating three lists to help us move forward in our businesses and have more time for the things we love. I'll walk you through each step, but pay close attention to the final one. That's going to be the “money list” that can make the difference between a scrappy entrepreneur and a CEO. We talk about why and how to remove yourself as a bottleneck in your business, even though it might be hard to let go of certain tasks you might be great at. This is a valuable exercise that has saved me countless hours. I can't recommend it enough!
