Chris Ducker | Virtual Freedom | Book Review by Lisa Woodruff of Organize 365 On Mondays, I will be posting a podcast recording of previously recorded book reviews. These are books that have impacted me that I want to share with you. In September, I review the books that helped me to build the Dream Team I have today. Business leadership and team building are one of my favorite parts of being a CEO. I also share how I found and use a highly skilled executive assistant to improve my own productivity. I share about how I have searched for and added team members, how we delegate, and how we are navigating the different stages of building a business. This week, I am reviewing Virtual Freedom: How to Work with Virtual Staff to Buy More Time, Become More Productive, and Build Your Dream Business by Chris Ducker. I have been lucky enough to have been coached by Chris. This book will talk you through learning to delegate and outsource. When I talk with women business owners, I share that it is often easier to outsource household tasks (cleaning, laundry, meal prep) than it is to build a business team. The book teaches you how to make “3 Lists to Freedom” and ensure you are focusing on the most important tasks in your business. I discuss these lists in the video and how to apply them to work and home. The best part of the book is that Chris tells you how to hire a virtual assistant and delegate your tasks. You can also watch this as a video review on YouTube. Follow me on Goodreads! If you are interested in trying Audible for audiobooks, you can get a free trial with my affiliate link.

We are a year into physically distancing ourselves from one another and interacting mostly virtually! Although this is not something I would normally celebrate, it has given our hosts plenty to think about, specifically when it comes to facilitating training for your staff. We've been there, enjoying a school lecture or perhaps engaged in a positive work session and then the meeting ends abruptly due to time constraints. Ruby recommends that we all focus on building a routine into our training, and have a phase-out process that allows participants to know the meeting is ending by helping them transition from training session to individual reflection. Perhaps a google doc, a slack or something supplemental to allow excited camp leaders to be involved event after the meeting has ended. We're all going to be sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time during camp training this summer, so Gabz recommends investing into a nice camera and microphone. Nothing is worse than holding your face close to the screen so others can hear you in that sub-par laptop microphone, so invest in tech to make your camp training a success. Below are some of Gabrielle's favourites from the tech she's tested out. Canon M50 click hereSigma 16mm f/1.4 lens click hereThronmax Mdrill One Pro mic click hereBeth reminds us that we live in a 3D world where camp training usually consists of using the space and objects around you to facilitate training. In a virtual world, training can quickly become repetitive, so get creative! Find full show notes and links at: https://camphacker.tv/camp-code/virtual-staff-training-1Virtual staff training is a brave new world. Let’s explore it together.Over the last year, virtual sessions have become way too familiar. We know that camp staff have already spent a lot more time meeting virtually regardless as businesses have switched to virtual work and educators have shifted learning to online. Unfortunately, this is not going away yet as most camp leaders are most likely learning how to facilitate virtual training. We’ve got your backOur hosts Beth, Ruby and Gabrielle are here to help you plan the inevitable conundrum of virtual training. We’re already spending countless hours in front of screens, so as leaders we need to find new interactive ways to train our staff. Ruby brings up a great point, go asynchronous! Provide the content for your staff to consume on their time. We obviously know the importance of podcasts, you could use these to provide brief learning sessions! Get creative, use videos, Tik Tok or even traditional presentations with perhaps your audio recordings built-in! Gabrielle reminds us to focus on what’s important for our staff to be able to deliver a fun, safe summer for our campers. As leaders, the content we learn online to prepare for summer may not necessarily be the same content we want to provide to our staff. Remind yourself, your role is to create a foundation of why your staff and campers go to camp. Create connections with yourself, your staff and your campers. Beth reminds us that as we being to train online, we cannot forget to play online. Find ways to build in collaboration. The editor recommends virtual escape rooms and imagination. Even Alexa (yep, that AI speaker in your home) can do free, virtual escape rooms. Have a team work together to solve the puzzle and put in a rule that only one person can click through the virtual room or give the audible commands to alexa to get your team out. Remember, this blog is just a highlight reel, to get the full benefit from our experts, listen in today! -We hope you love this episode of Camp Code! British entrepreneur Chris Ducker has experienced the power of a book to grow his business not once, but twice. His first book, Virtual Freedom: How to Work with Virtual Staff to Buy More Time, Become More Productive, and Build Your Dream Business, was published in 2014 and continues to sell well today. Four years later, Chris wrote and self-published Rise Of The Youpreneur: The Definitive Guide to Becoming the Go-To Leader in Your Industry and Building a Future-Proof Business. Chris is a serial entrepreneur and owns and operates several businesses, including the personal brand education company Youpreneur.com. He employees more than 350 full-time employees. Nowadays he spends most of his time coaching and mentoring successful entrepreneurs, as well as investing in and advising startup companies. Top Takeaway: Be Strategic About Using Your Book To Grow Your Business Chris tells Published Author show host Josh Steimle that when Virtual Freedom was published, he didn't want to be tacky or overly obvious in promoting his business Virtual Staff Finder. “I did want to be strategic, but, but I didn't want to be seen to be strategic, if that makes sense,” says Chris. In the approximately 280 or so pages in the book, Virtual Staff Finder is mentioned only four or five times. “But this I know for sure is the big deal closer: At the back of the book, we had a resources section. And at the beginning of the book, I said, ‘You're going to see lots and lots of resources mentioned throughout the pages of this book. To save you time skimming back through all of the pages to find them, when you're done reading it, I put them all at the back in a nice convenient list for you, along with website addresses what it's for, etc'.” At the beginning of the Virtual Freedom's resource section a note appeared referencing a companion guide to the book, downloadable for free at Virtual Staff Finder's website. Placing the guide on his website meant that thousands of people signed up for it, and in doing so happily submitted their email address to Virtual Freedom. Chris says his strategy “worked brilliantly. There are 1000s and 1000s of people who have opted in for the companion guide over the last six years. And many, many of them have converted to paying clients.” He says Virtual Freedom has been so successful because it's: “A no brainer for people to pick that book up, learn what they needed to do and then say: ‘I can either carry on doing what I'm already doing and being overwhelmed and not really getting anywhere. Or I can follow the advice in this book, and go out and find a VA and build my virtual team, or option C is, I can use the author's company to help me do it'.” With this approach, Chris gathered tons of new clients and about three or four months after that book came out, he literally doubled the size of the team working at Virtual Freedom. Self-Publishing Is The Way To Go Chris is a strong advocate of self-publishing, for a number of reasons. First of all, by self-publishing, an entrepreneur retains the rights to their book. Next, speed. With traditional publishing, it can take up to two years for a book to be released - a very long time-frame in the world of an entrepreneur. Use a Developmental Editor Regardless of which route an entrepreneur selects, Chris says that: “My big piece of advice, whether you go traditional or you self-publish, is that you must hire a developmental editor to work with you on the book. “This isn't an editor who will check for spelling and punctuation and grammar, and all that stuff. Yeah, you should definitely get somebody to look over that side of things as well,” he explains. “This is a developmental editor, someone who can read the book, chapter by chapter, and help you develop a better book. Guest’s Background: Originally starting out with a website and design company, Esther Anderson employed virtual staff. Over time they set up ideal processes on how tasks were to be done. They grew their team which resulted in her flying to the Philippines several times to conduct staff training. Esther and her team developed their systems so well, they were able to open up a virtual staff agency where they provide trained staff to clients in different fields. The difference is that the staff are always employed by them and they provide a guarantee on their work standards. The bonus is that they unbox the systems and processes that clients need when first setting up a business. Website: insandoutsofoutsourcing.com How to Attract the Best Virtual Staff Step 1: Define what processes you need your staff to carry out Step 2: Write an effective job description for your ad Step 3: Manage your job ads Step 4: Schedule for interview Step 5: Conduct the interview Step 6: Decide who gets hired Step 7: Test week and probation period Step 8: Onboarding the new staff member Support the show.

Then open the Facebook App and click the Marketplace; you might get a message that says something went wrong and try again, but don't press it. Click back, turn your data on, go back to Facebook, and click the try again button. At that point you should be able to get back into to the Marketplace. First thing you should do is find any ads in your support inbox that they've flagged and just get rid of them. Also, clean out your cache on your laptop, everything but passwords. Mark: If you feel like you need to take a nap in the afternoon, take no more than an hour long nap and nothing after 4:00. It will benefit you if you have a sleep deficit. If you're having trouble going to sleep at night, skip the nap, caffeine and alcohol. Isn't it time to create passive income so you can work where you want, when you want and with whomever you want?
Everything changed for Chris at the end of 2009, when he suffered a horrific burnout. He was living like most entrepreneurs, working 14-hour days, six days a week, spending very little time with his family and working ‘in’ his business, instead of ‘on’ it way too much. He loved his business and the focus of building it, but Chris was tired. In every possible way. Going into 2010, Chris put a 1-year goal in place – to become a Virtual CEO, and replace himself in his business as much as possible by the end of the year. By late November 2010, he achieved the goal. Not only that, but Chris launched another business in the middle of that year, Virtual Staff Finder, as a result of simply listening to his online audience. Chris now works an average of 6-hours a day, his workweek no longer includes Friday and he gets to spend lots of time with his wife and three awesome children. In this episode, Karen and Chris discuss: Success Story of Chris Commit to Get Leads A Youpreneur is seen to sell on a consistent, high value basis, in order to bring the leads in on a consistent basis. Today our expert guest is Ande Lyons, Founder & Chief Possibility Officer of Possibility Partners. She mentors startup and early-stage entrepreneurs, while providing tools and resources to help them launch, brand, and build their businesses. We discuss what the entrepreneurial “call to adventure” is, how she empowers entrepreneurs, and how you can build a business that succeeds. Bring Back Desire Before Possibility Partners, Ande launched three businesses, one of which was Bring Back Desire: “A tasteful, playful website sharing tips, tools and resources for women who want more intimacy, sensuality and sexual excitement in their lives.” After 3½ years of success, she didn't hear a calling from the business anymore, and she was always driven by passion and purpose. Eventually, she heard a new call... Guiding Entrepreneurial Adventurers “Every event brings you a deeper relationship with your beloved self and your beloved life, and this is especially true for the courageous, entrepreneurial adventurer.“ Ande's core value has always been shining a spotlight and enhancing others, so she fits very naturally in the startup world. She's able use her business to serve people, and help them be more positive, by bringing out their unique gifts and guiding them on the path to adventure. You can find tips for entrepreneurs in Ande's new video series: Ask Ande Startup Solutions Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable “You have to build those ‘comfortable being uncomfortable' muscles.” Risk and opportunity are inseparable, so being risk averse can prevent entrepreneurs from taking full advantage of their skills and opportunities. However, with help, you can learn how to stay focused on what you need to accomplish despite feelings of uncertainty. The Brand Promise “You have to build your brand from the heart.” The entrepreneurial space is crowded, so you will be confronted with thousands of other people doing something similar to what you do. The only way entrepreneurs can differentiate themselves is through their brand promise, or the emotional connection between you and your audience. The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “Life happens for you – not to you. Every event brings you a deeper relationship with your beloved self and your beloved life, and this is especially true for the courageous, entrepreneurial adventurer.” -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. The Business Generals Podcast | Helping You Maximize Your Entrepreneurial Dreams - Every Single Week
Dave Nevogt is the co-founder of hubstaff.com which helps businesses easily manage virtual and remote teams through SaaS time tracking, project management, and employee development. He has founded several multi-million dollar internet businesses since the he was 22, and has been working on them since 2003. His start was in online golf instruction in 2003 which he grew to $1.5Million by 2005. He sold those businesses in 2009, and then purchased and ran a larger search engine optimization software company that focused on link building. While building and managing these companies he's managed over 100 virtual employees/contractors concurrently. He also writes a popular blog series that teaches what his team has done to grow Hubstaff to where it is today. Current Revenue streams Hubstaff has been generating enough money to pay out the founders, pay employees' salaries and sustain operations but it doesn't have one sole revenue stream. The business is currently generating $6 Million in annual revenues from selling its software through a SaaS subscription model. Starting out in business Worked for 18 months in a large pharmaceutical company in Chicago. After that he only worked on his own businesses. His first business was a golf instruction e-commerce platform which taught people how to swing a golf club better through videos, eBooks and training aids. Within a year, the business was generating $1.5 Million in revenues and had customers globally. The business taught him his first skills in running an online business. Scaling up the first business quickly Dave believes it was a right place, right time scenario because he picked the right business and the right market. The business was very unique because there were only a few people doing what he was doing. The business's quick growth was made possible by the high conversion rates the site was getting because he was using very cheap and unsaturated advertising channels like email marketing. Dave then sold off half of the business. Transition to the next business In the course of selling his business, Dave met one buyer in particular who used to buy underperforming ecommerce businesses, turn them around and sell them for a profit. Dave and the buyer bought a software related company together. With Dave managing its operations, the business started generating $2 Million in revenues from selling content. That gave him hands-on experience in running a software related company. They eventually sold off the business. He also started Hubstaff while still running the software company. He currently runs the marketing and operations side of Hubstaff while his partner runs the technical (development) side of the company with each of them working with a team of 10 and 12 employees respectively. The Hubstaff idea While running the golf business, Dave was in dire need of software that would help him manage his technical staff since he had no technical knowledge and therefore needed to make sure he was effectively tracking their performance to ensure projects were being done on time and in the expected way. That need gave Dave the initial idea of developing Hubstaff. He was also inspired by the need to develop a product that would give value to people, that they would use every day in their businesses. Hubstaff uses time tracking to enable business owners manage their virtual and remote employees by ensuring they are doing what they are expected to do at the right time. The software also acts like an activity tool. Once he came up with the idea for Hubstaff, Dave looked for a local co-founder. They both invested $26,000 each into the start-up and started the development of the first applications which cost about $40,000. They invested the remainder of the capital into advertising and building traffic for the app. They initially launched the app on free trial basis in order to test the market and once they discovered that it was a highly viable...

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a lady who is on a mission to help the worlds entrepreneurs own their own successful business that can someday be run without the business owner pulling all the strings. Along with her team she will push her clients towards the first step in the direction of business freedom, time abundance and the ability to ultimately sell a business at a profit. Sound good...you betcha. But how has she developed herself to a position where she is rightly called the “Swiss Army Knife” for Business because of her knowledge of tools, automation and needs of the small business owner. Her ability to create the perfect solution to any challenge in the most cost effective way for the small business owner that is struggling with the business behind the business. Well she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations with an emphasis in Marketing and Event Planning from Grand Valley State University in 3 years, but it was when she struggled with the waste she experienced at the corporate level in large companies that the first steps to where she is today became to be realized. And due to the fact that most people only understand what they know, and unfortunately 80% of running a successful small business is NOT their trade knowledge, it seems as if she has a never ending conveyor belt lining up to work with her. So what is the hardest part of growing a service based company like her own? And does she look back at her history and think "Man if only I knew what I know now then we would have been rocking in record time!" Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Brook Borup. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brook Borup such as: Why she is so focused on building a team around her that will free her even more from her business, to tackle the things that fall within her own personal super talent. Why Brook believes that it is so important to spend as much money as you can possibly on hiring a VA. If you go cheap, you get cheap results. Why a great way to start a business is to simply look around at the people you already know, and ask them "How can I help you?" and lastly…. Brooke reveals her worst client ever....and you will be surprised to know exactly who she said.....i was for sure :)
My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an only twenty seven years old, but he seems to have packed in several decades of work and hustle in such a short period of time. He has been an entrepreneur in the eCommerce industry since 2009 and has grown into a leading expert in the field with experience managing multi-million dollar businesses. But of course we are most interested in what he is doing today. What is getting him excited everyday when he jumps out of bed? Well he is the Founder and CEO of FreeeUp a company that he started 2015 after spending 7+ years interviewing, hiring, and training remote workers. He decided that there must be a better way for eCommerce companies to hire remote workers without having to spend hours interviewing and finding the most reliable people. A year later and FreeeUp is a rapidly growing company interviewing hundreds of worker applicants each week and providing remote workers for hundreds of clients. He has found a gap in the market place and filled it with his experience and passion allowing it to flourish. And with his extensive knowledge in creating business systems and processes, personnel management, hiring remote workers, the Amazon Marketplace, and advanced sales tactics this is going to get bigger and bigger. But does he see this as his legacy work, or simply something that is moving him closer and closer towards his goals? And what does he enjoy the most in his work….the creation, or the customer satisfaction? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr. Nathan Hirsch Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Nathan Hirsch such as: How Nathan has developed the abilities to bounce back from every failure that has hit him, ensuring that he has learnt from those hard-times before moving forward. The story of the trip to Myrtle Beach, where he suffered a huge client loss and identity fraud all within a few hours…tipping his world on its axis. Why you should always look to start hiring as soon as you can in your business, to allow yourself free time to do the stuff that you are best at. and lastly…. Why he has set up his company to have three levels of staff, to boost the quality of the work, and to maintain greater control on standards and systems..very wise decision indeed.

How would it feel to go from working 14 hours per day 6 days a week to working 6 hours per day and not working Fridays? Working with a virtual staff can make that promised-land a reality. If a self-proclaimed "micro-managing, pain in the butt boss" can do it, then so can you. Virtual staffing is no longer considered a new concept thanks to Tim Ferriss's 2007 book "The Four-Hour Workweek", but knowing how to hire, train, and manage a fully functioning and efficient virtual staff seems like a new concept to many. Lucky for us, Chris Ducker, the virtual staffing expert, joins the show to talk about working with a virtual staff, the type of mindset you need to build a virtual team, how to determine what your staff should be doing, how to take your business to the next level with virtual staffing, and much more. Give it a listen and learn how you can go from 14 hour days to 6...and no Fridays. Key Takeaways from the Show How to execute the "Three Lists to Freedom" exercise The one mindset shift you need to make to start working with a virtual staff successfully How building a virtual team has changed and where it's heading The next level beyond your virtual staffing foundation Links / Resources Chris Ducker's Website Chris Ducker's Twitter Virtual Freedom Book Ecommerce Influence Insider Subscribe & Review To get more awesome Ecommerce Influence content sent directly to your device and into your ears as they become available, you can easily subscribe. As entrepreneurs and business owners, our most precious resource is time. And the only way to leverage your time is to hire staff, particularly - as online business owners - virtual staff. In fact, I believe every online business owner has the ability to grow even further beyond where they want to be - it's a mindset shift that's required. Everything from knowing what you're good at and want to focus on, right down to being honest and learning to let go. Essential Learning Points From This Episode: What's the #1 benefit of working with a VA? How do you ensure a long-term relationship with your new hire? The importance of building trust with your VA. I've been intrigued with the idea of virtual assistants and virtual support since reading Tim Ferriss' Four-Hour Workweek. But I could never figure out how to make it work as a freelancer. It felt like one of those things that sounds great on paper ... but doesn't quite work in practice. Well, over the past year I've seen other freelancers use virtual staff successfully. So I decided to look further into this and learn how it can work, even you're not yet making the big bucks. In this week's podcast, I interview Chris Ducker, author of the new book Virtual Freedom: How to Work with Virtual Staff to Buy More Time, Become More Productive, and Build Your Dream Business. Chris is regarded as the number one authority on the subject of virtual staffing and personal outsourcing. And in this interview he shares some very practical ideas on how freelancers can leverage virtual staff to save time and boost their earnings.
Sometimes you need a little more. Sometimes you want to take things to the next level. In this episode, Chris discusses the possibility of finding higher-end virtual staff, the types of things you can outsource to them, and more importantly, how to actual find them, and bring them on board with the right mindset, and set-up.
Chris Ducker was working 14-hour days, six days a week, spending very little time with family and working ‘in’ his business, instead of ‘on’ it and was tired in every possible way. He’s come a long way since then, creating the new business Virtual Staff Finder, the New Business Podcast, and his new book – Virtual Freedom: How to Work with Virtual Staff to Buy More Time, Become More Productive, and Build Your Dream Business. He’s also released a podcast series that corresponds to the new book. In this episode, Chris and Erik cover: The false believe that you can fill every role in a growing business Super hero syndrome Chris’ definition of the word Entrepreneur = To provide answers to questions and solutions to problems Being a 16 hour a day, 7 day a week entrepreneur doesn’t make you a more successful entrepreneur.
