Its beauty and profound bleakness are intensely moving, but great questions remain: Where, how, and when was it composed and why does it endure? To explore these questions is today’s guest, Robin Lane Fox, a scholar and teacher of Homer for over 40 years. He’s the author of “Homer and His Iliad” and he addresses these questions, drawing on a lifelong love and engagement with the poem. He argues that the poem is the result of the genius and single oral poet, Homer, and that the poem may have been performed even earlier than previously supposed a place, a date, and a method for its composition—subjects of ongoing controversy. Review of Edward K. Watson, Verifiable Evidence for the Book of Mormon: Proof of a Deliberate Design Within a Dictated-from-Imagination Book. Abstract: Edward K. Watson provides a new twist in the textual evidence for the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. Drawing upon his expertise in working with argumentative and persuasive essays (collectively known as “structured essays”) and applying modern scholarship to the requirements for sound argumentation in such essays, Watson seeks to apply objective criteria and scoring methods to evaluate several of the many structured essays in the Book of Mormon. Watson argues that because such essays generally require considerable planning and revision, it would be very unlikely for them to have been created, rather than translated, by Joseph Smith dictating at high speed and without major revisions. While his analysis adds new dimensions to the complexity and depth of the Book of Mormon, I believe that his claims are overstated and not adequately supported, especially when he says that dictating structured essays would be “impossible” for any mortal. Nevertheless, Watson does provide interesting evidence on a long-overlooked aspect of the Book of Mormon that merits consideration. They will claim that change is unavoidable. Why ruling powers push religion. Faith became the same as obeying political institutions. Psychological conditioning to accept authority without challenge. Destroying religious challenges also ends the tradition to conquer and convert. The legal systems soon followed politics. The subjugation of populations was always seen as justified. NATO intel doesn't answer to anyone. Their history is a deep one that will require unraveling. They developed the post WWII intel apparatus. Also, the means for controlling the narrative. The colonial version of world history won. Pure faith does not require external validation. The fear based approach eliminated competing beliefs. Silencing traditions was standard. It is SO important to work together to get on the same page in a relationship, and that includes financially. Healthy financial wellness in a relationship consists of open communication, creating financial goals, knowing your WHY, working on your money mindset's individually and together, understanding investing for your family's future.  Most relationships fail and moist fights happen because of money, directly or indirectly. Therefore, a huge part of a successful relationship is working on your financial wellness.  Sandy comes from an upbringing of financial abundance and she has a very strong abundant mindset around money. I come from an upbringing of more financial scarcity and I have had to work through a scarcity money mindset, and its a work in progress - I'm still working on it at 33 after 10+ years of working on it! My pain point from scarcity in childhood led me to go get my business degree and a Master's degree in Finance, which led me into the finance world to go make a lot of money. I was able to make a good amount of money, but I still didn't understand building wealth and financial literacy. I had to go seek that and learn that on my own. And through years of working on it, I was able to launch our own investment firm, buy 5 properties, 22 doors, make 4 venture capital investments, understand and invest in the stock market, and crypto and understand the risks and rewards. Sandy doesn't;t have that experience, so that is her opportunity to work on, not just making money, but how to be a good steward of money, how to invest it, how to grow it, how to compound and multiply it. It will be a life long work in progress but we realize we need to keep working on our open lines of communication around money, we individually need to work on our financial wellness, and we need to come together to have a family financial meeting at least once a month if not twice to get on the same page! If this episode was helpful, share it with your partner and setup a financial meeting!
