Saudações, ouvintes apaixonados por locução. Está NO AR o 92º podcast VOZ OFF!

No final, tudo acaba dando certo", enaltece o convidado desta edição do Sefaz Conecta!

“Women are getting off birth control amid misinformation explosion.” - a very problematic article in the Washington Post last week. Written by two people with no medical background, the article is highly politicized, filled with anecdotal evidence, and dismissive of women's lived experiences with birth control. Once I saw it, I had to address it here on the podcast because it's disgusting. Birth control is obviously not the ultimate evil, but it's also not the ultimate panacea. It should not be prescribed for problems outside of birth control until the underlying factors have been explored. Anything else is a disservice to our patients and is done for the convenience of the prescribing physician. In this episode, I'm giving you my take and the facts on everything written. I want you to read this article, see the political division that's being created, and see the way they've stopped women from responding to what they've written. Enjoy the episode.   Highlights The risk of bias and the authors' lack of medical background Misrepresentation of the genuine symptoms some women experience while taking birth control The political implications threaded throughout the article Why I believe it's misogynistic and hypocritical that the comments were turned off on the Instagram post about this article The reach of social media influencers and their impact on birth control decisions Potential side effects of birth control and the experiences of individuals who have faced complications How social media might be shaping perceptions and decisions related to birth control methods Bias in the medical community's response to the side effects of HRT versus the pill How this article is promoting political division   Sponsored by: Femmenessence It's a rare occurrence to find a non-prescription supplement that becomes a go-to for hormone health and Femmenessence is just that. “If you're already a board-certified OBGYN, why would you pay to become NAMS certified?” Many physicians turn to the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) for guidance on menopause-related issues. Every few years, they release a position statement outlining their stance on relevant treatment options, and lately, I've been getting a lot of questions about their recent statements. For the next couple of episodes, I'll be doing a deep dive into different aspects of NAMS and their position statements. Today, I'm starting by critically examining their 2022 hormone therapy position statement and 2023 nonhormone therapy position statement. If you see a celebrity partnering with a celebrity physician for a product, I'm here to tell you it won't help. It's a money grab. How are we at a point where women are terrified of a hormone they've had in their bodies most of their lives? Many of us have heard horrible things about estrogen and its connection to breast cancer. A lot of this public aversion stems from a study that came out in the early 2000s called the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). The WHI was a landmark study designed to define the risks and benefits of interventions, notably hormonal therapy. Unfortunately, when journals and the media reported on the findings, they didn't put them into the appropriate clinical context and did not mention the study's limitations. Ultimately, this led to women ditching their hormones en masse, suffering in silence without an alternative. Today I'm sharing what you need to know about the WHI, what the data shows about the connection between hormone therapy and the risk of disease, why we need to shift our perspective on hormone therapy, and alternatives for women who can't benefit from estrogen therapy. Let's try not to be afraid of estrogen - it's not a bad thing.   Highlights Telling women across the board not to go on hormones is a misogynistic statement What you need to know about the Women's Health Initiative study The problem with how the media reported the results of the WHI study Positive outcomes of hormone therapy identified in the study Limitations of the WHI Considerations for women with a history of breast cancer What the studies showed about the benefits for osteoporosis prevention The relationship between estrogen therapy and increased risk of dementia and stroke Detoxifying estrogen in your body My confession for estrogen replacement Alternatives to estradiol for menopause symptoms   Sponsored by: Femmenessence It's a rare occurrence to find a non-prescription supplement that becomes a go-to for hormone health and Femmenessence is just that. Welcome back to the final installment of my special series of interviews with my kids. So far, you've heard from my firstborn, Hannah, my eldest son, Hunter, and my youngest, Anthony. Today, I'm chatting with my thirdborn, Angelo. Angelo and I share very similar birthdays - only four days apart - and he's the one who's most like me emotionally. He was born about five weeks early, right before 9/11, and was the only one of my children who was breech. Unlike his older siblings, I never know what to expect from Angelo in terms of his school and career journey, and it's always interesting to see where he ends up. In this episode, Angelo and I talk about his early days, experiences in private school, developing self-awareness and empathy, how his academic outlook has changed between high school and college, his career aspirations, how he developed his philosophical outlook, and more. Thanks for your support, and enjoy the episode!   Highlights The unique circumstances around Angelo's birth Early childhood memories in Tucson What it was like to transition to a new school in the sixth grade in Austin Benefits and drawbacks of attending a private school versus a public school How your socioeconomic background influences your perspective on relationships and interactions with people from different walks of life The impact of distractions and unhealthy coping mechanisms on Angelo's academic performance in high school What it was like to have senior year in high school and first year of college during the peak of the pandemic The challenges and adjustments in adapting to the environment as an intern at Charles Schwab Angelo's philosophical outlook on life   Sponsored by: Femmenessence It's a rare occurrence to find a non-prescription supplement that becomes a go-to for hormone health and Femmenessence is just that. Welcome back to part three of my special series of interviews with my kids. So far, you've heard from my firstborn, Hannah, and my eldest son, Hunter, and today we're jumping to my youngest, Anthony. Anthony was born via C-section on November 22 in Tucson, Arizona. Named after his great-great-grandfather, Antonio, his name is in many middle names and first names throughout my family. As my youngest, I often joke about him being my favorite, but one of the things I am most proud of him for is his ability to turn difficult situations into opportunities for growth and leadership. Never one to mindlessly follow the pack, I am confident he will be super successful, and I'm excited to see what he does. In this conversation, Anthony and I talk about his childhood, the experience of moving to a new city and feeling behind in school, how sports helped him to overcome his concerns about his height, struggles, and triumphs in football and theater, Anthony's college experiences at Blinn, his future career aspirations, and more. I can't bring myself emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, or physically to use hormone pellets with my patients. Hormone pellets are tiny pellets containing hormones and medications inserted under your skin and replaced every three to six months. In my clinic, many unhappy patients come to me with complications from pellets. Outside of my clinical experience, I also tried pellets myself a few years ago, which was the worst experience of my life. Looking at the science, there are much better methods of getting bioidentical hormones, such as topical creams and sublingual troches, and they don't come with the downsides of hormone pellets. Today I'm sharing the top ten reasons why I'm a pellet anarchist, misleading ways that pellets are marketed, the things women need to know before using pellets, and what to do if you've had pellets and want to make a change.   Highlights How hormone pellets work Pitfall #1: They're expensive Pitfall #2: Hormone levels are too high Pitfall #3: It's a surgical procedure Pitfall #4: Once they're in, they don't come out Pitfall #5: You're subjected to minor surgery every 3-6 months Pitfall #6: Irregular absorption rates Pitfall #7: It's a cash cow for providers Pitfall #8: Who's inserting them? Going into the interview, Hannah told me that no questions were off the table, and we had an open conversation on everything from her earliest childhood memories to her divorce and weight loss journey. One of the things I've realized as a parent is that if you can raise your kids without injecting your pathologies into them, you've done a good job. The first step to good breast health is having an intimate relationship with your breasts. Since the person themself catches most breast abnormalities, you are in a powerful position to protect them. In my practice, I see a lot of women with breast pain for various reasons, from hormone replacement to premenstrual syndrome. It can range from mild discomfort to pain that's interrupting their lives, and it's not something you should be forced to live with. Today, I'm joined by Dianne Wist, CEO of Violet, a unique, patented breast health supplement that relieves monthly breast discomfort and tenderness. As a physician, I prefer heavily research-backed products that focus on what they do well instead of trying to throw in everything but the kitchen sink. That's one of the main reasons I recommend Violet so much to my patients.   Highlights The research behind Violet and its proven track record The connection between iodine deficiency and breast tenderness Why iodine is essential for hormone function and overall health Use cases of Violet for a variety of women's health issues Challenges with obtaining adequate iodine levels through diet alone Why molecular iodine is preferred over other forms Groups of people who are at higher risk of iodine deficiency Recommended use of Violet for cyclical breast pain The relationship between hormone replacement and breast tenderness Violet as a solution for breast tenderness for hormone replacement patients The role of selenium in Violet Recommendations for people with thyroid conditions The company and team behind Violet  Improving your breast health awareness Why self-examination is crucial   Connect with Dianne Wist & Violet Dianne Wist on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/diannewist/ Violet Website https://VioletDaily.com/ Violet on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/violetdailypill/   This episode is sponsored by: Femmenessence It's a rare occurrence to find a non-prescription supplement that becomes a go-to for hormone health and Femmenessence is just that.
